#2 Remember, when you trade-in or upgrade your electronics (Best Buy...,etc.) the working components go to 'recyclers', most often offshore (unburdened by the EPA, http://www.repc.com/recycling.html).
In some cases this is a direct shipment to troubled Asian areas.
