g(r)omgoru that is a mess. I hope not. You are closer to this than most. I believed the youth to be more western and a younger population. It will be difficult to bridal harness them. If not large numbers will be dead like Algeria.

#13 The Mameluke were the military body guard of the Caliph much like the Janissary were for the Turks. Both the Mameluke and Janissary were institutions that anointed the successors to the head of state and disposed of them as well. It appears old patterns of human behavior are running true to form.
