#2 In most post-colonial African countries, civil war is the civic norm, not the exception. And in a few that are not officially at war, it is hard to tell the difference.

#3 Referring to these events as a "civil war" points to an aspect of civilization, which I believe is entirely too charitable. Senseless multi-millennial tribal conflict might very well be more accurate.
