#1 Abbas wrote the letter to EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton dated August 21, AFP reported on Monday.

On Friday, Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accepted mediation to revive direct talks in Washington on September 2.

Backing out after only 24 hours. That must nearly be a record, even for the Palestinians.

#2 A Pali leader quitting talks with Israel is not news.

A Pali leader engaging in good faith with Israel and actually attempting to make progress in that part of the world that would benefit both sides of the conflict, especially without making sure his Swiss bank account is replenished first....that's news.
