#1 I was reminded of a comment made by a peer of his, Medal of Honor recipient Joe Foss, that if he knew as much about combat flying at the beginning of the war, as he did by the end of the war, he would have easily doubled the number of enemy planes he splashed.

A good thing to remember about combat training.

The Japanese never did learn how to overcome the tactic of yet another peer of theirs, John S. Thach. The "Thach Weave" was one of those 'sweet spots' in war, where the enemy is trapped in a lose-lose situation.
