For Lucy the charges came about when a voters registration card of hers from 1936 showed that she intended to vote for the Communist Party. She testified before the House Un-American Activities Committee explaining that she had no intention of ever voting communist She didnt even know a thing about politics. She had only registered as a communist to please her Daddy, Grandpa Hunt, who wanted his grandchildren to do so. In 1936 it wasnt such a terrible thing, so they did it without giving it a second thought. Lucy was cleared of all charges and the public loved her more than ever after the ordeal."
