#2 Much depends on the purpose of the kinetic energy weapon. Most of the study has assumed a deep penetration single weapon, like a bunker buster. But just as valuable, in a different way, would be a multitude of shallow penetration large area weapons.

The difference is between the "rods from God", and a space shuttle bay full of basketball sized steel balls covered in heat resistant ceramic.
