#6 Below is a Sandia Labs (the nuclear weapons guys) simulation of a large meteor that heats up and explodes 7 miles above earth's surface on a shallow entry path -- watch the primary and secondary shock waves. No impact from the meteor but plenty of destruction.

Pretty scary to consider that an object that could do that can also come in untracked, or tracked only at the last minute.

#7 66ft diameter isn't that big. There are some big'uns floatin round out there that could give us another gulf of mexico type crater. But I guess we'll carry on, like we have for the last couple million years or so.
