#1 I still don't understand why the Lebanese need a conference of their neighbors to happen before they themselves can act. It is a tacit admission that Lebanon is controlled by outsiders. They apparently now need to strike a deal on who they are going to allow to gain power in Lebanon.

It is so sad. Maybe someday soon the Lebanese people will actually be able to make this decision themselves without outsiders having to have any meeting or come to any consensus. I don't recall an Arab summit deciding Egypt's elections, or Syria's government or Algeria's.
