#1 The US military said Hasnawi was a rogue Shiite militant who had broken away from the main Mahdi Army militia. "Arkan Hasnawi's actions clearly demonstrate he has chosen to dishonour Moqtada al-Sadr's ceasefire order and that he has joined forces with Iranian-supported special groups that are rejecting" the order

A few things here. One, MNF-I is naming names, something they really haven't done in the past with Shi'ites. Tantamount to painting a target on the clown's family and tribe.

Two, it's a backhanded compliment to Sadr; propping up the facade of him as a leader while reminding the Shi'ites that he's incompetent, and suggesting that he's an Iranian tool.

Three, it's a prelude to forcing the Shi'ites to make a decision as to whether they're going to back Baghdad or Qom.
