#2 The Chinese won't like it one bit. The South Koreans are going over the deep end with regard to North Korea. It's a shame...I'll miss Koizumi's lion's mane and his funny faces. I also like how AP describes Abe as an "outspoken" conservative, as if there were something shameful about being a conservative.

#3 Japan wants to be a player they should set up their Army to do some peacekeeping in areas of the world far removed from memories of Japan during WW2. The middle east and Africa come to mind. Get them some experience, get some credit in the uN, freak out the Chinese.
