But, of course! We always eat our own cultural icons. Besides, she's a has-been and no one will notice. Let her go live with the English or Americans with an attitude like that.

#3 wow! That's kind of frightening. Maybe if she'd written about Americans or Jews, they would have given her a prize instead.

#4 She can be a real nut case, but once again, France has proven itself utterly incapable of judgment.

One of the most incriminating sections read: "I am against the Islamisation of France! ...this forced submission disgusts me..."

She has a completely valid political point here.

A complaint over a tirade in the book against "mixing our genes" with non-European immigrants, taken in context to mean Muslims, was not upheld.

And conversely, here she actually is being racist.

France...a quel but vos decisions ridicules?

#5 In its verdict, the court ruled that Bardot had deliberately tried to draw a link between Islam and terrorism by mentioning the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States in a chapter on a Muslim holiday celebrated in France and elsewhere.
Er...and why is this being racist? I thought this was an example of common sense?

#6 This is, I believe, the third time she has been fined for this offense. She got nailed once for protesting ritual sheep slaughtering for feasts.

#7 She's a whack job on Animal Rights, and maybe the only person in France who is right on the threat of Islamic fundamentalism.

As for me, I will not protest sheep slaughtering for feasts, especially Rack of Lamb at the "Outback Steakhouse"

#8 Bardot had deliberately tried to draw a link between Islam and terrorism by mentioning the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States . . .
I'm speechless. She mentions a fact and they fine her. I'm convinced now that we've lost France.
