#2 Lol! Sorta quick on the trigger aren't they???

Mar 11th First Anniversary of the End of the War?

How about Mar 20th was the Beginning of the War, instead? Since I know this for a fact, sitting in Saudi about 200km south of the Line 'O Departure, well...

I think The Sun's George Pascoe-Watson, Deputy Political Editor in Iraq, is either Dr Who or is somewhat timeline-challenged!

#3 .com:

We bitch and moan that there is very little good press about the great work being done in Iraq. The Sun pulls the trigger a few days early and you are all over them. Come on now.

#4 Hundreds of thousands have ditched their ponies and traps or primitive bangers

Translation into American, please. I thought bangers were either a Brit food or rock groupies. [Yes, it was Goldie's best movie]

#5 DF - Sorry - you're right - though I did indicate I was having fun with the "Lol!" - wink wink nudge nudge!

It IS good news. Many good points worth the time. Another little thing caught my eye: the leading postion of the Brits in this Good News, with the US trailing along behind. Lol! See, it's funny to me, DF - give me a break, too! It was a good read, thx! ;-)

#6 Impossible! This must be a lie! Iraq is a big seething QUAGMIRE where our troops die every day. Thre is open fighting in the streets. There is no power (at all) people have to drink from the sewers....

Just ask CNNBBCABCNBCCBS......

... or Kerry...

#8 For people curious to know, the Sun has the largest readership of any UK newspaper, and by some considerable margin. It's a right-of centre tabloid. The Mail has the largest circulation for a mid-market rag, and its reportage, too, is considered right-of centre. The Telegraph (to some, 'Torygaph') likewise has a convincing lead over its competing broadsheets, and is only challenged at all (in sales terms) by the generally reliable Times. The Guardian and, even more wacko Independent, trail distantly.

Worth bearing in mind every now and then when you get enraged by the liberal media - those Brits who want to know what's going on generally choose to read accurate (aka "right wing") reporting, whilst those who don't usually live in fantasy worlds, and go on ignorance marches every now and then. Unfortunately, there's a lot of the latter group. Sad, but true.

Circulation information from here. Yes, it's the Telegraph. You can trust it.

#9 DF - Thx! :-)

Bulldog - Thx for BG - always helpful!!! Interesting link, though Sun doesn't show up anywhere I saw. One note - the Telegraph would be sued (in the US) for calling some newspapers "quality" and, by their omission from such lists, clearly imply others are not! Lol!

#10 It IS good news.

And as it gets better, count on the little blurbs about it in U.S. newspapers (if there's any reporting about it at all) to be relegated to some obscure spot in some section devoted to odds and ends news stories.

#11 .com, I don't think anyone would dare suggest the quality of the Sun's soft porn was less than excellent compared with the Telegraph's meagre offerings, so it's reasonable to allow the Telegraph to declare its news reporting superior...

The tabloid figures are at the bottom of page 4 (Popular Newspapers). Bear in mind the lower table, including the News of the World, shows data for Sunday papers.
