#2 IIRC in Congressional testimony they couldn't cite one instance of averting a terrorist attack simply based upon their sources.

#3 Safety is a catch all excuse for bad/stupid/evil legislation.

Child abuse/terrorists is the catch all excuse for any overreach of the police power.

Yes, there are bad people out there. Please stop using them as an excuse for taking away the rights of people who are not bad.
