Gawker Media - Wikileaks Now Bad, Cuz Of The DNC Leak
Take a look at Pajama Boy's brother, now all butthurt because Wikileaks isn't taking down Bush & Evil Republicans, but go after the sainted Democrats? IT'S AN OUTRAGE!
WikiLeaks has hit rock bottom. Once dedicated to careful vetting and redaction--sometimes too much redaction--the "whistleblower site" is now gleefully basking in its dump of thousands of emails hacked from the Democratic National Committee--most of which are full of personal, non-newsworthy information--published with the express intent of harming Hillary Clinton’s political campaign. In this latest release, there is no brave whistleblower in sight, just an anonymous hacker believed by the FBI and U.S. intelligence community to be a front for Russian intelligence services. The WikiLeaks project has fallen far from the lofty heights of its founding a decade ago, when Julian Assange promised to "facilitate safety in the ethical leaking movement."
Want some cheese with that whine?

The U.S. Opening Ceremony outfits look like the Russian flag
I'm reminded of the problems with the uniforms at the last Olympics. We can't do anything right, it seems.
Russian representation may be thin in Rio next month thanks to the country's doping scandal, but those back in Moscow will be able to see the Russian flag on another big delegation.

Ralph Lauren and the United States Olympic Committee unveiled the outfits American athletes will wear in next week's Opening Ceremony on Friday morning and it didn't take long for some to notice they might be better suited for athletes representing another country.

As sports fashion maven Paul Lukas and others pointed out on Twitter, the pattern of the striped t-shirt follows the order of the white, blue and red bars of the Russian flag. When paired with a buttoned-up navy blazer, only three bars are visible and it looks like the Russian flag.

#3  Ugh. It looks like something put together by an intern. Off-the-rack pieces that they didn't bother tailoring to properly fit the athlete models, RL jeans are not designed for muscular glutes and quads, and the group was carefully turned to display the Ralph Lauren logo instead of the American flag.

No wonder they aren't smiling.

TRUMP: Baltimore prosecutor in Freddie Gray case 'ought to prosecute herself'
Let's see if the liberal press is as quick to pounce on this one as they were when he said Russia should give us their copies of Shrillary's "missing" emails.
Donald Trump said Wednesday that Baltimore State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby, who brought charges against six police officers in the death of black man Freddie Gray, "ought to prosecute herself" after all remaining charges were dropped.
The problem is that her track record stinks lately.
"I think she ought to prosecute herself," he said during a press conference at his Florida golf club. "That's my reaction."

"I think it was disgraceful what she did and the way she did it and the news conference that she had," he continued. "And they were guilty before anyone even knew the facts."

Prosecutors dropped the remaining charges against Baltimore police officers in Gray's death, which brought the case to an end without any conviction. However, Mosby defended her prosecutions, which she initially handed down last May. She said she does not believe Gray, who died last year of a spinal cord injury after he rode unsecured in a police transport van, killed himself.
Not intentionally.
The decision to drop charges comes after a judge already acquitted three of the six officers charged in the case, including the van driver and the highest-ranking officer of the group.

"And I give a lot of credit to those police officers, who probably could've made a deal," Trump said. "I give a lot of respect and a lot of credit that they stuck it out. And you had victory after victory after victory, and she had no chance. Don't forget, she prosecuted what she thought was her best case first. She should prosecute herself. She should be held accountable."

Trump later said that some police officers do bad things, but this was clearly not the case to prove so.

Israeli flag burners at Dem Convention are our common enemy
[LI] The burning of an Israeli flag outside the Democratic National Convention has received a fair amount of press.

There’s a bigger point here, one I have made many, many times before.

The Leftist-Islamist coalition which hates and wants to destroy Israel also hates and wants to destroy the United States.

Israel’s fight is our fight, and vice versa. And by "our" fight I don’t mean just conservatives or Republicans.

We have common enemies -- the anarchists, radical leftists, and Islamists -- not because we chose to hate them, but because they chose to hate us.

The video of the Israeli flag burning provides proof. As the Israeli flag is being burned, one of the leaders of the group is shouting "Death to the USA power" and someone else asked "where’s the American flag":

Times of Israel, same subject.

Former De La Salle QB dies on first day of U.S. Army Ranger training
[Mercury Sports News] A former De La Salle High School quarterback pursuing the same elite level on the military field as his team did on the gridiron fell ill during training and died at a Fort Benning, Georgia, hospital earlier this week, officials said Thursday.

U.S. Army Second Lt. Michael Parros, 21, died at Midtown Medical Center on Wednesday after becoming sick during his first day of training to become a U.S. Army Ranger, Army spokesman John Tongret said.

An ambulance took him there with hyponatremia, a condition that occurs when the body's level of sodium becomes abnormally low. The condition can be caused by factors ranging from an underlying health condition to drinking too much water during an activity, according to the Mayo Clinic.

"This is a tragic loss," said Lt. Col. Matthew Weber, Commander of the 2nd Battalion, 11th Infantry Regiment. "He showed so much potential and was the epitome of the kind of soldier you want to serve with."

Parros' unit, 199th Infantry Brigade, had wrapped up a session of combat training. He began showing symptoms of hyponatremia shortly after eating, and his condition "escalated very quickly," Tongret said.

"When he was admitted, that's what he was suffering from," he said. "It hasn't been determined at this point if that was his cause of death. Unfortunately, there are a lot of questions right now that we just don't have answered, yet."

His family was notified and made the trip from Walnut Creek to be with Parros at his bedside, Tongret said. They were not available for comment.

#2  From my notes:

#1 In the Sonora Desert in summer, with water consumption about 5 gallons per man per day, we got into the habit of carrying around ampules with a mix of 1 teaspoon each of sugar, salt and baking soda.

When added to 1 quart or canteen of water, it would instantly absorb through the stomach, while keeping your blood salts balanced, though it tasted like crap.

It could get bizarre. Constant thirst, even when your stomach was full of water, and because the humidity was 3%, you never felt sweat, but your t-shirt would get covered with salt stains.

And even drinking 5 gallons of water a day, you still had to force yourself to urinate, because otherwise you wouldn't. And your urine would be dark yellow to light brown. Not good.

Heat exhaustion feels a lot like sea sickness.

-War on Police-
Police officer killed, another wounded in Southcrest shooting
[SANDIEGOUNIONTRIBUNE] Two San Diego police gang-detail officers making a traffic stop in Southcrest late Thursday night were shot several times, one mortally maimed, triggering a massive police search into the daylight hours. One suspect is in jug.

The names and service history of the male officers, both part of the department’s gang suppression unit, were not released.

The slain officer was shot several times, rushed to a hospital in a patrol car but died at a hospital despite life-saving efforts, San Diego Police Chief Shelley Zimmerman said early Friday. The maimed officer underwent surgery early Friday and was expected to survive.

The suspect, who had been shot, was being treated at a hospital, Zimmerman said. His name was not released.

It's not yet clear how the shooting unfolded.

The two officers had pulled over a vehicle about 11 p.m. in the area of Acacia Grove Way and 38th Street, a neighborhood of houses that abuts the Chollas Creek Ravine. Immediately after, they called for emergency cover ‐ more help from all available officers.

Other officers were nearby and arrived swiftly. They found the two officers suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper torso and rushed the critically injured officer to a hospital in a police vehicle.

"Despite heroic efforts by officers on scene and heroic efforts by doctors to save his life, I’m heartbroken to report they were unable to save him, and he is deceased," Zimmerman said outside Scripps Mercy Hospital, where the mood was tense and somber.

At the main entrance, some officers could be seen hugging one another. Others stood stoically, guarding the hospital doors. Zimmerman escorted several people into the hospital.

Zimmerman later said she had gone to the home of the slain officer to tell his wife, two children and extended family members who were at the home that he had been killed.

"It is extremely difficult, but something you have to do," Zimmerman said, joined by other department leaders.

"There's nothing that prepares you to do that."

The wife of the critically injured officer was beside him at UC San Diego Medical Center as he underwent surgery, Zimmerman said.

Because other family members of the two officers had not yet been notified, their names have not yet been released.

Oil industry suppliers see light at the end of the tunnel
[Reuters] European suppliers to the oil industry, hit by their customers' spending cutbacks over the past two years, have produced stronger than expected second-quarter earnings and are cautiously pointing to signs of recovery in demand.
A couple of oilfield roughnecks sitting on a stack of pipe, enjoying lunch in the late 1930's.
These companies, which encompass oil drillers, engineering groups, oil services providers and seismic surveyors, have had to slash jobs, costs and investments to cope with the fallout from a 60 percent drop in the oil price since 2014.

The tide may be turning now the oil price has stabilized but any recovery for these companies will be uneven because those that find it tough to cut capacity and costs will lag others with more flexible business models.

"The oil price has gradually increased since it bottomed out in January, indicating a turning tide for the oilfield service industry expected in the second half of this year," consultancy Rystad Energy said.
'Boom and Bust - Supply and Demand' are common terms of the industry.

Home Front: Culture Wars
Jerry Pournelle on free trade.
h/t Instapundit
...One reason Conservatives are advised by Conservative leaders to disagree with Trump is his position on Free Trade. The problem for me is that I do not see Free Trade, particularly laissez faire Free Trade, as necessarily Conservative at all,

The advantages of Free Trade are lower prices for stuff. That means they are more cheaply produced. As the economist David Ricardo wrote, there is a principle of comparative advantage that coupled with free trade guarantees maximum profits for when there are no trade restrictions, and impediments to free trade are supposed to be mutually disadvantageous.

But do understand, what is conserved is lower prices. Nor social stability. Not communities. Not family life. Indeed those are often disrupted; it’s part of the economic model. Under free trade theory, it’s better to have free trade than community preservation, better to have ghost towns of people displaced because their jobs have been shipped overseas; better to have Detroit as a wasteland than a thriving dynamic industrial society turning out tail finned Cadillacs and insolent chariots and supporting workers represented by rapacious unions in conflict with pitiless corporate executives.

The theory of free trade includes liquidity: liquidity in capital flow, and liquidity in labor relocation.

What was conserved by turning Detroit into a wasteland? How was that conservative? Wouldn’t it be more conservative to argue that if everyone pays a little more for stuff made here, by people who work here, we are better off than having it made south of the border and inviting our people to go work there at their prevailing wages?

Go further. You don’t have to move. We’ll pay you for not working and you don’t have to move. Of course we’ll have to raise taxes on those who do work to pay those people no longer working, but that’s life. But after unemployment benefits work out ‐ in my days the government would pay you $26 a week for 26 weeks ‐ you’re in trouble. So much so that welfare benefits kept being raised. Food stamps, which became larger and bought more items. Negative income tax. And if you dropped out of the labor force ‐ no longer looking for a job ‐ you are no longer unemployed. The unemployment rate just went down. You stopped looking for a job. Of course you don’t have a job ‐ you are certainly not employed ‐ but you aren’t unemployed and don’t count toward the unemployment rate. I wouldn’t have thought that sort of lying to the people by government officials was a very Conservative thing to do at all.

Would a 15% tariff on cars have saved Detroit? It would mean that I would have had to pay about $5000 more for my 1988 Ford Eddie Bauer V8 Explorer I bought in 1999. I could have afforded that. And I suspect that I’ve paid more in income taxes sent to welfare recipients in Detroit than that. Is paying people not to work more Conservative than trying to keep their jobs ‐ and manufacturing capabilities and potential here, bot dismantling it and leaving its former site to rust away ‐ Conservative?

And is encouraging people not to work ‐ at least making it easier and more possible ‐ building a Conservative nation?

What, precisely, is being conserved here?
Also, free trade should be bi-directional. And nobody else in the World is that kind of sucker.

#1  Read this yesterday.

Good article in pointing out that their are more priorities than money that motivate people.

It's not surprising that Marxists reduce everything to money in trying to control people. Proggies (aka Marxists) can't conceive of anyone not being driven by monetary greed so if you don't agree with the left you are obviously too stupid to tie your own shoes and need to be "led".

#2  It's not surprising that Marxists reduce everything to money in trying to control people.

Over 48,000,000 people on Food Stamps appears to support your theory. Other examples are readily available.

#3  It's not Free Trade when it's rigged on both sides to the advantage of castes or special interests groups. That's not just international trade, it's also interstate commerce that obstructs or 'regulates' industries favoring native businesses over national businesses - see dairy and limited liquor distribution, automotive sale businesses etc by state. We're not even talking subsidizes that pols and precipitants are so fond of that alter price levels. Then there are 'partnership' deals, that require someone, group or family, on the inside of the governmental/business entity to get a piece of the action in order to do business in the state or nation. Free Trade has long lost its meaning. Sort of like Mom (but before the sex change operation), the Flag (now made overseas), and Apple Pie (additives with 5% apple content).

Before you bring up Smoot–Hawley as a Bogeyman, I too was taught about the 'evil's of that back in school. However after sitting through 8 years of a de facto depression (using the metrics of 1930s rather than the manipulated metrics of today), that scare is losing its value as we do not have Smoot-Hawley and yet we still have a long term depression running. People's images of the 30s Depression is largely long lines of hungry out of work men in black and white film. However the vast majority of the workforce was employed through that time in a flat economy. IIRC around 75%, less the black community whose numbers were much lower. Sounds familiar? So was Smoot-Hawley the devil or the scapegoat?

Mr. Pournelle is asking the questions that need to be raised. If government exists to serve the people, who really is being served by 'Free Trade'. It ain't free if its rigged to the advantage of a few or others over the many.
Posted by: Procopius2k || 07/29/2016 8:04 Comments || Top||

#4  Pournelle is offering a common misunderstanding of free trade as a strawman. Free trade creates wealth. It's that simple. Tariffs are a tax paid by consumers - American citizens. Read your Adam Smith.

And if it's rigged, gamed or otherwise abused, that's not free trade. Another strawman.
Posted by: Iblis || 07/29/2016 9:39 Comments || Top||

#5  You've got too many competing narratives.

Pure free-trade is fine but impossible for several reasons not the least of which is an imperfect knowledge base.

Another narrative derives from the "best for the common good" approach. Pournelle is pointing out that individuals have different definitions of good and you can't aggregate economic wealth creation and declare it best. All you can say is that this maximizes total wealth in the system, whether or not that's good is a whole nother story.

So it's not a straw man at all just a part of a much larger and more complex story having to do with societal organization.
Posted by: AlanC || 07/29/2016 10:04 Comments || Top||

#6  I get the basic argument on free trade, but I also get that we really don't have "free trade" -- we have "managed trade" with NAFTA, TPP and the other agreements out there.

Mr. Trump is correctly pointing out that in a managed trade situation, America has been a sucker for a long time -- we're transferring a significant amount of wealth (and per Mr. Pournelle, social stability) to other countries, in return for cheap goods. Okay, everyone likes inexpensive stuff, but the question is, what did we give up for that? Trump and Pournelle point out that we've given away too much.

I'm all for "free" trade, but I don't think it exists, and I don't think we can work our way to it. So if it's going to be managed trade, we need to get a better deal.
Posted by: Steve White || 07/29/2016 10:28 Comments || Top||

#7  Another narrative derives from the "best for the common good" approach.

Ah, but for libertarians, there is no "common good."
Posted by: Pappy || 07/29/2016 10:34 Comments || Top||

#8  Tariffs are a tax paid by consumers...yes, but non-tariff taxes are paid by the consumer for the welfare system to support those not working and the bureaucracy that goes along with that welfare. Where is the lesser cost and graft to be found?
Posted by: Procopius2k || 07/29/2016 10:49 Comments || Top||

#9  Do we have to live through this again?

#12  Ah, but for libertarians, there is no "common good."

Ah, Pappy, but we're talking about economists and politicians.

When you speak about the aggregate system totals rather than specific transactions than there is a "common" good defined as total aggregate wealth which is used to justify these "free" trade deals and writes off the suffering of Detroit, for example, as just acceptable collateral damage. After all the aggregate is the measurement of success..

This ignores two salient points.
1) is the average issue: On average this is best for everyone. Like the man with one foot in ice and the other in boiling water feels fine, on average.
2) free trade is the sum of all the individual transactions that are made by individuals based on their view of what's best at that moment for them. Therefore, an aggregate, as a measure of worth, is meaningless. Think of college grades if I get an A in physics and an F in sociology I'm a C student, does that mean anything at all?
Posted by: AlanC || 07/29/2016 13:33 Comments || Top||

#13  Free trade creates wealth that is true...for those who are already wealthy. The rest of us get fucked. Nobody is seeing those sweet profits from manufacturing in Bangladesh and China other than international companies.

#15  Our 330 million people have 330 million requirements which, can be met by the same 330 million people....'freely trading' with one another.

If those 330 million discover they have a trading surplus, stop production until surplus is exhausted, or ship the surplus overseas. If those 330 million discover they have a trading shortfall, then and only then, should oversees stuff be brought in.

I suppose this is far too simplistic. Probably far too late for such a foggyish old concept.

#16  The thing about "free trade" as it exists today, with the Mandarinate we have running the country, it amounts to some semblance of a free market for people who run what were once import/export businesses and are now just import businesses, and no economic freedom if you do anything else for a living.

The media wasn't prepared to handle sarcasm from a candidate
h/t Instapundit
By now you’ve no doubt seen the international crisis which was spawned when Donald Trump answered a question about the DNC email hack, saying he hoped that the Russians found the rest of her 30,000 erased emails. Flipping through the cable news networks this morning you’d think that he just offered to sell the nuclear codes to the highest bidder. The reactions have been swift and ominous from all corners.

...Trump is sarcastic. He’s easily exercised. And when he starts in on a subject and the room temperature rises, you get more of that. The media loves to act offended and point to this as a reason why he must not be qualified to lead America. But the fact is that sarcasm and the occasional expletive are part and parcel of how much of the nation actually speaks. This has left the media completely flummoxed, leading to the headlines about how Trump is going to sell out our national security to Russia.
IMO, it's a case of drinking their own ink --- since anybody who disagrees with them is a moron, and morons can't use sarcasm... Also, most of them are not particularly bright - constantly suppressing your own thoughts in favor of Pravda will do this to you, even if you didn't start (as most of them did) as a second rater.

That statement about the DNC hack was pure trollness and just brilliant. It made the issue stick in people's minds, reminded them that there are other emails that might be worse and there was no good way for Hillary to respond without looking like a tosser.

The media and DNC will bring out the old weapons that worked against milquetoast Republicans about them being racist, Hitler and out to kill minorities and poor people. The problem is, it won't work against Trump. He just doesn't give a shit and will throw more troll poo over the fence back at the DNC and the media will fall into the trap of putting it on every front page.

The Grand Turk
Turkey post-putsch round up for Friday, July 29
Turkey has intelligence Gülen could flee U.S.
Yes, but Turkey also knows that Mr. Gulen controlls djinns, so stopping him might be a tad problematic.
Turkey is receiving intelligence that the Muslim scholar it accuses of orchestrating a coup attempt this month could flee his residence in the United States, Justice Minister Bekir Bozdağ said on July 28.

Bozdağ told broadcaster Habertürk TV that Fethullah Gülen could flee to Australia, Mexico, Canada, South Africa or Egypt, which do not have extradition treaties with Turkey.

Ankara says Gülen, who has lived in self-imposed exile in Pennsylvania since 1999, is the mastermind behind the failed July 15 coup attempt to overthrow the government.
Canada isn't far: Gulen is in Pennsylvania so it's a short hop to Buffalo, then over the bridge.
Author Ian Johnson wrote a fantastic book entitled 'A Mosque in Munich: Nazis, the CIA, and the Muslim Brotherhood in the West', which provides some very interesting insights into the activities of chaps like Mr. Gulen.

Turkish Parliament approves commission on coup attempt
Lawmakers have unanimously approved the formation of a commission to investigate the failed coup attempt of July 15.
You'd be a brave MP to vote 'no' these days...
The commission will be made up of parliamentarians from all four of Turkey’s main political parties - the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP), the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), and the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP).

The commission will have the authority to question suspects, including those currently in detention, just as public prosecutors are able to do. The commission is aimed at establishing the facts surrounding the botched attempt to overthrow the government.

Justice Minister Bekir Bozdağ has warned parliament of the need to take precautions to guard against the “countdown to a new coup attempt.”

Turkey dismisses 88 foreign ministry staff -Foreign Minister
[AlAhram] Turkey has dismissed 88 employees of the foreign ministry, Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Thursday, the latest in a series of purges of suspected supporters of a U.S.-based Muslim cleric accused of organising a failed military coup.

Turkey Warns Kyrgyzstan over 'Gulen Coup' Risk
[AnNahar] Turkey on Thursday warned the ex-Soviet state of Kyrgyzstan over the risk of a coup by followers of the U.S.-based preacher Fethullah Gulen, saying they had infiltrated every state institution in the country.

Turkey has sought to cultivate close ties with Turkic-speaking Kyrgyzstan but Bishkek has found itself targeted by angry accusations from Turkish officials that it has not done enough to crack down on Gulen's influence. In a cold statement, Kyrgyzstan's foreign ministry said it would take note of Turkey's warnings on education but reminded Ankara it was an "independent, sovereign state."

"We think at the very least that it is not correct when a foreign minister tells another state to take this or that action and moreover in the language of ultimatums and blackmail," it said.

Report: Erdogan wants to control army, intel agencies
Let us look forward to the usual glorious restoration... or will Turkey go straight to Kurdish rule?
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is reportedly planning to take direct control of the country’s security forces in a restructure following the recent failed coup attempt by members of the military.

CNN-Turk reports that the changes will affect both the army and the intelligence agencies.

Turkey Reshuffles Military after Half of Generals Fired
How long before the Peshmerga Grandmothers Reserve Patrol handily beats the entire Turkish army with one hand tied behind their backs and their left feet in a bucket?
[AnNahar] Turkey's top military commanders met Thursday to replace almost half of their generals in a radical shake-up after the failed coup, as authorities shut down dozens of media outlets in a widening crackdown. The hastily-convened meeting came after the government ordered the discharge of 149 generals -- nearly half of the armed forces' entire contingent of 358 -- for alleged complicity in the putsch bid.

In a possible move to pre-empt its decisions, two of Turkey's top ranking generals -- Land Forces Chief of Staff General Ihsan Uyar and Training and Doctrine Command head General Kamil Basoglu -- resigned just before the meeting, the Dogan news agency said.

Lower-ranking officers were expected to be fast-tracked to fill gaps in top positions.

Turkey's post-coup purge: almost 16,000 detained, 50,000 fired
Yesterday it was only "more than 15,000"...
[AlAhram] Here are the facts and figures about the coup and the ensuing legal measures against the alleged plotters and supporters:

According to Interior Minister Efkan Ala on Wednesday, a total of 15,846 people have been detained. These include 10,012 soldiers, 2,901 police and 2,167 judges and prosecutors.

According to Ala, 8,113 of those detained have been placed under arrest. This means a judge has remanded in them in custody ahead of trial. These include 5,266 soldiers, 1,684 judges and prosecutors, and 1,019 police.

Of those detained, around 3,000 have been already released, a Turkish official said, although no precise figures have been issued.

According to the state-run Anadolu news agency, 51,322 people have been dismissed from their jobs in state institutions. Most of these were in the state education sector, where 42,767 people have lost their jobs, evenly split between teachers and administrative staff. In addition, hundreds of jobs have also been lost in every major Turkish ministry.

The government also demanded the resignation of almost 1,600 deans, or faculty heads, from private and state universities.

Some 21,000 people working in private education will have their licences revoked and be banned from teaching in the future.

Eighty-seven land army generals, 30 air force generals, and 32 admirals -- a total of 149 -- have been dishonourably discharged over their complicity, a government decree said. In addition, 1,099 officers and 436 junior officers have received a dishonourable discharge, according to the decree.

At least 178 generals have been detained -- with 151 of them already remanded in custody -- around one half of the 358 generals serving in Turkey. It is likely almost all those discharged have been detained. According to state media, among the most senior generals detained are former air force chief General Akin Ozturk and former Second Army Commander General Adem Huduti.

Zimbabwe war veterans' spokesman arrested after Mugabe rebuke
Police have arrested a senior official from Zimbabwe's war veterans' association after it accused President Robert Mugabe of "dictatorial" behaviour in a shock rupture with the 92-year-old leader, lawyers said Thursday.

Veterans of Zimbabwe's 1970s independence war, who had previously been loyal Mugabe supporters, last week issued a statement bitterly denouncing the president, who faces growing signs of opposition.

Douglas Mahiya, spokesman for the War Veterans' Association, was arrested late Wednesday in Harare, according to the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) group.A Mahiya family lawyer confirmed the arrest to AFP, but declined to comment further.

The association's secretary-general, Victor Matemadanda, was also taken from his rural home in Gokwe, north west Zimbabwe, after being summoned for police questioning.

"His whereabouts are currently undetermined, as are the charges or allegations against him," ZLHR said.

Police on Thursday declined to comment on the two cases, a day after the president vowed to punish the unnamed authors of the war veterans' criticisms.

They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(IS), pushed off more than half the Iraqi territory it seized in 2014, has suffered a near collapse in revenue from oil smuggling, officials say, forcing it to cut fighters' pay, levy new taxes and raise fines for breaking its religious code.

The jihadist group has lost control of a series of oil fields, and is having to sell what production that remains at steep discounts to persuade truck drivers to collect it and run the gauntlet of U.S.-led air strikes. Alongside taxes, ransoms and antiquities trading, oil has been a major fundraiser for IS operations. At one point, it made millions of dollars a month in sales to neighbouring Syria and Iran, or to makeshift local refineries.

Hezbollah Registers as Political Party in Peru
[BREITBART] Shiite Iran’s terror proxy Hezbollah ("The Party of God") has registered as an official political party in Peru’s Abancay province, home to the largest Moslem community in the country, reveals an exclusive report by the Peruvian Latina news agency.

Titled, "Hezbollah: has arrived in Peru and announces the registration of its new political party," the report aired in late June on Latina’s television program Punto Final.

Hezbollah, a terrorist group primarily based in Leb, has reportedly gained followers in the mountainous region of Abancay. The Shiite group has long maintained a presence in Latin America as a proxy of Iran.

"Allahu Akbar," shout the Hezbollah followers featured in the news program.

The phrase, which means "Allah is the greatest," is "the ubiquitous battle cry of Islamic jihadists as they commit mass murder," explains Breitbart News.

Now Hear This - Clinton Defense Will Undercut Classification/Clearance system
By U.S. Navy Rear Admiral Thomas Brooks (Retired)

[US Navy Institute] The Clinton email saga will provide grist for the politicians, pundits, and tabloids for a long time to come. But the immediate impact will be ever-more-shrill charges and countercharges as the election cycle winds down, with pro-Hillary and anti-Hillary camps "spinning" the facts to suit their political beliefs.

From the perspective of some, Mrs. Clinton deliberately set up a private email server to ensure her emails remained private and not a matter of public record and then used this unprotected server to send and receive official messages, some of which were highly classified. Clinton apologists will respond that it was all an innocent mistake and she has admitted that, so let’s move on. There is no proof her computer was hacked, so there is no proof any of the classified emails were compromised. Thus, there is no reason to be concerned over what FBI Director James Comey characterized as Mrs. Clinton's "extremely careless" handling of classified material.

There are, however, a number of reasons to be concerned. Most important, anyone who believes the Russians (and probably others) were not reading the emails of the U.S. Secretary of State is hopelessly naïve. According to the press, some of these emails contained sensitive intelligence, to include identification of sources. If this is true, it is very serious.
Lengthy article. Be sure to review the author's credentials.

Drone-Killing Gun Spotted at US Base in Iraq
[DefenseTech] The tweet was subsequently cited in an article by Thomas Gibbons-Neff, a reporter for The Washington Post, who reported the weapon is probably being used by American troops to target small reconnaissance drones operated by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, or ISIS.

The weapon, which the company makes clear isn't authorized by the Federal Communications Commission and thus isn't available for sale in the U.S., uses radio waves to cut the link between the drone and its controller.

As my colleague Matthew Cox reported in January at Military.com, the Army over the past year tested multiple anti-drone products and determined the DroneDefender performed the best:

One of the old-style anti-tank rifles of the 1920s and 1930s would presumably work well here, with a scope or some sort of electronic aiming.

Afghanistan
5 Good Guys wounded in Nangarhar province
At least five US soldiers have sustained injuries during an operation in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan, it has been reported.

The US soldiers were reportedly partnering with the Afghan special forces during an operation in Nangarhar.

The top US commander in Afghanistan General John Nicholson has confirmed that five US soldiers were wounded in the last few days. Without providing further information regarding the exact time of the incident, Gen. Nicholson told Reuters “None of these are life-threatening injuries.”

Gen. Nicholson further added that two of the injured service members have returned to duty, while three others were evacuated but are “in good spirits” and are expected to make a full recovery. He said “We will continue to stay after Daesh until they are defeated here in Afghanistan.”
ISIS is concern, but not the Taliban? President Trump will have some decisions to make in January. President Hillary Clinton will no doubt continue as her former boss started, there being no responsibility to protect uninteresting barbarians beyond the range of television cameras.
I suspect the Taliban wants to be moved from the kids' table at Thanksgiving.
To the Beltway mind, the Islamic State can't be negotiated with. With the Taliban, it's possible - if the putative ally Pakistan allows it. Hence, to the Beltway mind. the Islamic State is 'bad' and the Taliban 'bad but reasonable actors'.
This comes as the Afghan commandos launched a major operation against the loyalists of the terror group in Nangarhar on Friday and cleared the restive Kot district from the presence of ISIS militants. The operations were launched amid concerns that the terror group is attempting to expand insurgency activities in the country.

The group claimed responsibility behind a deadly bombing in Kabul that left at least 80 people dead and over 200 others wounded.

Gardener arrested for brutal murder of 86-year-old
A 48-year-old man was tossed in the slammer
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
in Bloemfontein in connection with the murder of a 86-year-old woman, Free State police said on Thursday.
The butler didn't do it.
Captain Chaka Marope said the elderly woman was found murdered at her house in Gardenia Park and the man, her gardener, was arrested on Wednesday after her neighbour found her body.

"When [the neighbour] peeped through the window, she noticed the victim`s body lying in a pool of blood in a supine position on her bedroom floor. She was also half-naked. The police were immediately alerted," Marope said.

"Upon their arrival they [the police] broke open the door to enter the house. The victim was found having head injuries and it is suspected that she was attacked with a blunt object. The blood stains were scattered all over the walls and the bedrooms were ransacked."

Marope said it was not known what household items were stolen. A case of murder was opened for further investigation.

"The possibility of additional charges of robbery and rape cannot be ruled out as the investigating team is still awaiting the autopsy report to determine whether the victim was sexually assaulted or not."

The man was staying at the backroom of the woman’s house. During the preliminary investigation at the scene, the suspect’s cap and blankets were found with blood stains and the suspect failed to provide the police with satisfactory reasons to that effect, Marope said.

He is expected to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Friday, on charge of murder.

AJK protesters call for action against Indian atrocities in held Kashmir
[DAWN] MUZAFFARABAD: Hundreds of people held a rally for the third consecutive day on Wednesday, urging the international community to take notice of unabated state-sponsored terrorism by Indian forces in held Kashmire.

"Listen India, neither Jammu and Kashmire was yours in the past nor will it ever be yours in future," reads a banner.

On previous two days, women and kiddies staged sit-ins from morning till late afternoon. On Wednesday, they paraded right up to the UN Military Observers office near Domel.

The protest was organised by Pasban-e-Hurriyat, an organization of Kashmiri refugees, and International Forum for Justice and Human Rights (IFJHR), a rights group with its headquarters in Srinagar.

Protesters displayed placards carrying pictures of Indian troops thrashing and firing on unarmed Kashmiris.

Young girls were incensed at Facebook for either deactivating their accounts or taking off pictures posted by them to "highlight the acts of savagery by the occupation forces".

"Facebook was a medium to keep ourselves aware of the happenings and stay in touch with our near and dear ones in India-held Kashmire. But its attitude in the wake of Burhan Wani’s killing is unfathomable," said Shaheen Maqsood, a first year student.

Judge dismisses case against Chandra Levy suspect
[USATODAY] A judge dismissed the indictment Thursday against the man charged with killing intern Chandra Levy, after prosecutors asked to drop the case that drew national interest and embroiled a politician in scandal.

Ingmar Guandique, who lived in Washington, was found guilty in 2010 of killing Levy, who disappeared in 2001. Guandique, who has protested his innocence from the start, was granted a new trial last year based on questions about the credibility of a jailhouse informant. Prosecutors now say he will be deported.

Superior Court Judge Robert Morin ordered the case dismissed, based on the request from U.S. Attorney Channing Phillips.

"Mr. Guandique has maintained since the beginning, when he passed an FBI administered lie detector test, that he did not kill Ms. Levy. This dismissal vindicates Mr. Guandique," Lauren Hankins, general counsel for the public defender service that represented him, said in a statement. "Finally, the government has had to concede the flaws in its ill-gotten conviction."

The disappearance of Levy, 24, of Modesto, Calif., while she worked as an intern at the federal Bureau of Prisons, made headlines after she was linked romantically to then-Rep. Gary My wife has no thumbs Condit
... lover but not murderer of Chandra Levy ...
, D-Calif. Condit was later ruled out as a suspect.

"Everyone carrying arms... and sought by justice... is excluded from full punishment if they hand themselves in and lay down their weapons," SANA said, quoting a presidential decree on the three-month amnesty offer.

The reprieve also includes any holy warrior who frees a hostage, according to the decree text.

The offer comes as the Syrian army and its allies launch a wide-scale operation to liberate the city of Aleppo from the Takfiri

Also on Thursday, Russia said it had launched a large-scale operation with the Syrian government to open humanitarian corridors for civilians and Death Eaters fleeing the northern city.

Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu told Russian news agencies that three humanitarian corridors were being opened "to aid civilians held hostage by turbans and for holy warriorss wishing to lay down their arms" and one more corridor to the north of the city for rebels to flee with their weapons.

Syria's UN envoy Staffan de Mistura said this week he hopes peace talks aimed at ending more than five years of brutal conflict could resume at the end of August.

Morocco Announces Campaign to Combat Terrorism
Moroccan security authorities revealed yesterday that they launched a coordinated campaign on the 19th of July under the supervision of the prosecution services that targeted 143 people suspected of being affiliated to extremist organisations including ISIS. This campaign is the largest to be launched in the country to combat terrorist threats to the security and stability of it.

The authorities said that of those 143 individuals, 52 people were put on remand in light of terrorist threats that are continually growing at both a regional and international level. According to a statement released by the Ministry of Interior, a copy of which Asharq Al-Awsat received, this pre-emptive operation involved suspects that belonged to various ranks of terrorist organisations and are from different regions of the Kingdom. It added that they are accused of plotting numerous terrorist attacks that they intended to carry out in the near future within the country and abroad. They are also accused of using social networking sites to spread propaganda for ISIS and other terrorist organisations, and corrupting minors in order to plunge them into hotbeds of conflict.

The statement added that as a result of searches carried out at the homes of suspects, many pamphlets and documents relating to how to manufacture explosives, poisons and techniques for remote detonation were seized. Instructions on how to use various firearms in addition to a collection of books that permit suicide attacks and flags with ISIS’ emblem were also found.

According to the same source, firearms, cold weapons, a quantity of live ammunition, cans containing screws and a range of electrical equipment and wires that are used to make improvised explosive devices were also seized.

Syrian Army Controls Aleppo’s Bani Zeid amid Collapse within Terrorists Ranks
[ENGLISH.ALMANAR.LB] Syrian army backed with its allies fully controlled Bani Zeid neighborhood in the city of Aleppo on Thursday.

Kurd kommies kill 2 Turkish soldiers in bomb blast
[AlArabiya] Two soldiers were killed and one wounded when a roadside bomb detonated by Kurdish militants hit a passing military vehicle in Turkey’s largely Kurdish southeast on Wednesday, security sources said.

The bomb was detonated by remote control as the vehicle passed through a highway near Siirt, in southeast Turkey, the sources said.

Members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), which has waged a three-decade insurgency against the Turkish state, frequently target military and security force cars and trucks with roadside bombs.

Air-backed operations had been called in to target militants in the region, the sources said. Troop reinforcements and helicopters had been dispatched, they said.

The mainly Kurdish southeast has been scorched by some of the worst fighting since the height of the insurgency in the 1990s, after a ceasefire between the state and the PKK fell apart in July last year.

Merkel Admits EU Is Being Ravaged By Terror But Says Germany Should Welcome More Refugees
[EXPRESS.CO.UK] CHANCELLOR Angela Merkel has said Germany is facing a “major” threat from terrorism but that this should not stop refugees being welcomed to Europe.

The German leader, who cut short her summer holiday to speak after a string of Islamist attacks rocked the country, said the entire continent was being “ravaged” by terrorism.

She described recent attacks in Ansbach, Wurzburg and Munich as “horrifying and depressing” but insisted Germany would not turn its back on people fleeing the Middle East.

In the wake of the killings, Mrs Merkel said Germany now needed a better “early warning system” to spot radicalised Muslims among the newly-arrived migrants.

She said the central government would “redouble its efforts” against the threat, increasing staff numbers and resources for security services.

Mississippi police shooting justified
[SOUTHAFRICATODAY.NET] A grand jury has ruled Mississippi coppers were justified in the fatal shooting of a 37-year-old man whose weapon turned out to be a BB gun.

Biloxi Police Chief John Miller says Wesley Sheppard of Biloxi had shot out a window in a vehicle with children and refused police orders to drop his weapon March 10.

Miller tells The Sun Herald Wednesday that Sheppard was hit by two bullets from about 50 yards as three officers fired.

Miller released details of the shooting after a Harrison County grand jury ruled Monday the officers’ actions were justifiable.

Miller said Sherlocks learned the weapon was a BB gun, though it looked like a long gun to witnesses and responding officers.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation was called in for an independent probe, a standard police procedure.

"This is the most anti-police, anti-law enforcement convention I’ve ever seen in my whole life. There was not a uniformed police officer allowed on the convention floor. I was told that by four high-ranking coppers, two of whom I’ve known for a very long time. And then I walked the floor for very long time and I couldn’t find a single officer. Go look at your footage. You find me a uniform. Hillary Clinton

They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group, his lawyer said Thursday.

Chaer Kalaoun, 28, a Brazilian of Lebanese descent, was "taken overnight to Ary Franco prison in Rio and arrested for having posted comments on Islamic State," lawyer Edson Ferreira told Agence La Belle France-Presse.

Officials gave little detail about the arrest, which comes a week after 12 men were arrested on accusations of forming a cell to discuss potential attacks at the time of the Rio Olympics and swearing loyalty to Islamic State.

"Kalaoun was arrested yesterday evening at his home in Nova Iguacu," in Rio de Janeiro state, a front man for the federal police in Rio said.

The justice department would only say that the arrest was made under anti-terrorism laws and that the indictment remains sealed.

Earlier, Ferreira said the allegations lacked substance. "There is no basic accusation," he told Globo television.

"There's nothing more than suspicions that he put posts on Facebook, that he posted links related to Islamic State, but which have nothing concretely to do with him. He has no link with Islamic State," the lawyer said. "He did not pledge allegiance, he was not recruiting, or bringing people or collaborating or encouraging any projects of the Islamic State."

Ferreira said his client is a Moslem and lived in Leb when he was an adolescent. He works for the family business which has shops in Rio de Janeiro's Saara neighborhood, a historic center for Jewish and Arab immigrants colonists.

However,
facts are stubborn; statistics are more pliable...
unconfirmed Brazilian media reports said police suspect Kalaoun of recruiting for terrorist organizations in Brazil. He was also arrested during the 2014 World Cup on charges of illegal firearms possession.

During a memorial service Thursday at a Baton Rouge church, Biden spoke directly to relatives of the fallen officers. He promised them that a day will come when the memory of their loved ones will "bring a smile to your lips before it brings a tear to your eye."

An Army veteran from Kansas City, Missouri, killed the officers less than two weeks after protests erupted in Baton Rouge over the death of Alton Sterling, a 29-year-old black man who was shot and killed during a scuffle with two white coppers.

Biden said he heard that Sterling’s aunt embraced the father of one of the slain officers during a chance encounter after the shooting. He said they prayed together because "loss is loss is loss."

Tunisian army kills two 'terrorists': Ministry
[AlAhram] The Tunisian army killed two suspected gunnies on Wednesday in the northwest of the country, the Ministry of Defence said Thursday.

"Military units, reinforced by elements of the National Guard... killed two holy warriors during search operations" near the town of Jendouba, the ministry said in a statement.

A soldier was maimed during the fighting, it said.

Two rifles were also seized, along with ammunition, backpacks, clothes, mobile phones and cash.

It said the army and the National Guard would continue to search for gunnies in the region.

Tunisia saw an uptick in hard boy violence following its revolution in 2011, and security forces frequently clash with myrmidon groups in the mountainous west of the country. The gunnies have responded by launching ever more ambitious attacks.

Tunisia has been in a state of emergency since November 24, when a suicide kaboom, claimed by IS group, killed 12 presidential guards in central Tunis.

Several thousand Tunisians have joined myrmidon groups including the Islamic State

Pelosi says Clinton struggles with white male vote because of 'guns, gays and God'
[FOXNEWS] Donald Trump is beating Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as America's Blond Eminence and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another William Jennings Bryan ...
among white men because guns, gays, and God, according to former House Speaker Nancy San Fran Nan Pelosi
Congresswoman-for-Life from the San Francisco Bay Area, born into a family of professional politicians. Formerly Speaker of the House, but it's not her fault they lost. Really. Noted for her heavily botoxed grimace...
"I think that, so many times, white -- non-college-educated white males have voted Republican. They voted against their own economic interests because of guns, because of gays, and because of God, the three G’s, God being the woman’s right to choose," Pelosi told PBS’s Judy Woodruff in an interview Wednesday.

But, Pelosi contended, that’s changing because of Clinton’s "economic agenda to create jobs, good-paying jobs, increasing paychecks."

The opposition from white males "is softening," she argued.

"Some of those people were never going to be voting Democratic anyway. But I believe that, with the turnout that we expect to have, we will draw some of them in with our message, and enough other people to win the election."

IndiGo flight lands in Mumbai after ruckus by passenger
[KAUMUDIGLOBAL] An IndiGo flight from Dubai to Kozhikode made an emergency landing at the Mumbai airport Thursday morning following alleged unruly behaviour of a passenger.

"An IndiGo flight from Dubai to Kozhikode made an emergency landing at Mumbai airport at 0915 hrs due to unruly behaviour of a passenger," a Mumbai airport official said.

"After offloading them, the flight took off to its scheduled destination at 1050 hrs," he said.

The airport police said one passenger has been detained for questioning.

However,
denial ain't just a river in Egypt...
the official denied reports that the passenger raised pro-ISIS slogans. The details of the detained passenger were awaited.

In a statement, IndiGo airlines confirmed the diversion of its flight (Dubai-Kozhikode) to Mumbai this morning on grounds of unruly behaviour on board.

A little before landing, a passenger seated on 5D (who was accompanied by his brother) suddenly started misbehaving with the crew. He jumped on the forward cart (which is used for food and onboard merchandise) and sat on it. The crew immediately informed the Captain-in-command and the lead crew.

The crew politely requested the passenger to step down from the cart and he obliged. After stepping down from the cart, the passenger suddenly got violent and started physically abusing the co-passenger, IndiGo said.

Taking precautionary measure, the Captain immediately informed the Air Traffic control (ATC) and the ground security staff about the situation onboard.

The flight made the precautionary landing at the Mumbai airport where this passenger was handed over to the CISF for further investigations. The matter is now with the local authorities, the airline further said.

Pakistan's Imran Khan considers Taliban 'terrorists'
[Al Jazeera] Imran Khan
... aka Taliban Khan, who ain't the sharpest bulb on the national tree...
, the Pak politician and former cricket star, considers the Taliban a "terrorist" group and believes that it is "absolute nonsense" to speculate that he supports "extremism".

In an interview with Al Jazeera's Mehdi Hasan, the host of UpFront, Khan said: "Yes they are [a terrorist group]. Anyone who kills innocent people are terrorists."

The interview will be aired in full on Friday at 19:30 GMT.

Khan was also asked about his alleged relationship with the Pakistain Taliban and whether, as some have speculated, he supports the gang.

"This is absolute nonsense. It's just not true," he said. "All you have to do is look at my statements for the past ten years."

Khan also responded to accusations from Asif Ali Zardari, former president of Pakistain, that his large financial donations to Darul Uloom Haqqania

The seminary propagates the Deobandi trend of Sunni Islam and is headed by Maulana Samiul Haq, known as the Godfather of the Taliban. It has been dubbed The University of Jihad due to the methods and content of instruction along with the future occupations of its alumni....
, a school known for educating Taliban fighters, was evidence that he supported "extremism".

"This is totally out of context," he said, explaining that the purpose of the funding from his party was "to get the madrassa system into the mainstream".

Khan said "if it was a university for jihad, it should have been shut down" by previous Pak governments.

He said that Zardari's comments were "like so many of the Moslem corrupt rulers, ex-rulers, trying to win Western support by saying how liberal they are and how anti-Taliban they are".

Khan also spoke about Pakistain's controversial blasphemy laws.

ASWJ hunts Shaboobs in central Somalia
Ahlu Sunna Waljama’a (ASWJ), a moderate Islamist group in central Somalia say it began military operations, hunting down Al Shabaab members in Galgadud region.
And here I was hoping that ASWJ was a private club. I'd buy Besoeker a one year membership for his birthday...
ASWJ fighters in fighting vehicles have been deployed south of Guri’el town, where Al Shabaab leaders are reportedly holding meeting with local elders.

Al Shabaab leaders are discussing with the elders on ways to bring an end to civilian killings by the militants in Galgadud region, central Somalia. The meeting has ended with disagreement, as both sides failed to reach a comprehensive accord on the issue, according to reliable sources.
Because the elders wanted to stop the killing and the Shaboobs didn't...
Al Shabaab has demanded from the elders a another meeting by next month.
You might consider the security arrangements for such a meeting...

... These groups pose a strategic threat to the security and stability of Afghanistan," Permanent Afghan Representative Mahmoud Saikal said here on Friday during the open briefing of the Counter-Terrorism Committee on foreign terrorists.

These terror groups, he said, "pursue a few objectives" in Afghanistan, the main among them being "revival of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, targeting India’s interests and goals in Afghanistan" and forming "strategic alliances with international terrorist networks in the region and world." These groups also seek withdrawal of foreign forces from Afghanistan, creating bases and safe havens and using them as a platform for "undermining and toppling" Central Asian "secular" governments, Mr. Saikal said.

They also pursue the objective of creating "sanctuaries and safe havens" in tribal areas between Afghanistan and Pakistain and along the Durand Line, the 2,430-km-long international border between Pakistain and Afghanistan.

group in Afghanistan, according to a statement released by the Afghan Ministry of Defence (MoD).

The Jamaat-ud-Dawa leader had recently said he was coming to India, or more specifically, Kashmire, which begs the question: Will he bring Isis bandidos forces of Evil there?

According to the Afghan MoD statement, a copy of which is available with International Business Times, India, Saeed had last year pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group, which is also known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (Isis) or the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant
... the current version of al-Qaeda in Iraq, just as blood-thirsty and well-beloved as the original...
(Isil).

The statement said: "He was a front man for the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP) who later pledged allegiance to ISIS terror group." It also said: "He was one of the few senior members of TTP, who joined ISIS when it first emerged in the region a few months ago and was planning to engulf a widened war in the region and play a central role for the terror group." ISIS is the Arabic acronym of Isis, and a name by which it is referred to in the Middle-Eastern countries.

In a series of videos that had surfaced recently, Saeed, who, India says, criminal masterminded the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, was seen saying: "My sister Asiya Andrabi called me over the phone and cried for 15 minutes. She asked me: 'Brother, where are you?' Now, I am telling my sister Asiya, we are coming." Dukhtaran-e-Millat leader Asiya Andrabi is one of the more prominent separatist leaders in Kashmire.

These remarks by Saeed, made at a prominent rally in Lahore, where he roams free despite being a wanted man in the United States and India, coupled with the fact that he is now working with Isis, could mean any new attacks he could be planning in Jammu & Kashmire, or even the rest of India, would be in collaboration with the Islamic State group. This could be a huge challenge for intelligence agencies as well as security forces in India.

Obama’s Final Revenge: The Accidental Destruction of Hillary Clinton
[NATIONALREVIEW] Hillary’s pathetic self-indulgence leads her to moan about her plight even as the media fête her. On Sunday, Hillary complained about her victimhood at the hands of the brutal vast right-wing conspiracy: "I often feel like there’s the Hillary standard, and then there’s the standard for everybody else."

Scott Pelley of CBS News, who was purportedly interviewing her, then followed up by asking, "Why do you put yourself through it?"

Hillary’s answer: " ’Cause I really believe in this country."

Nobody believes that for a heartbeat. Not when she’s dismissing the problems of Americans in order to pander to Cecile Richards of Planned Parenthood
...has received federal funding since 1970, when President Richard Nixon signed into law the Family Planning Services and Population Research Act. It is sometimes described as the gynecololgical wing of the Democratic party.
or remind Americans of the importance of transgender bathrooms.

Now, Hillary believes that she can succeed by labeling Trump arrogant and self-centered. But Americans already know he’s arrogant and self-centered. They think he’s out to help blue-collar Americans, that he’s ready to protect them from the vicissitudes of the global economy and the evils of crime.

Americans have no idea why Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as For a good time at 3 a.m. call Hillary and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another John Foster Dulles ...
is running. This they do know: She doesn’t share their priorities.

Afghanistan
Droned Taliban Leader Was Stealing Money And Hiding While His Men Died
[DAILYCALLER] Former Taliban leader Mullah Akhtar Mansour is believed to have stolen vast sums of money from the terrorist group’s coffers in an apparent attempt to protect himself while his men were being killed in Afghanistan, according to U.S. Gen. John Nicholson.

The revelations regarding Mansour’s corruption exemplify a larger problem within Taliban ranks as leaders continue to skim money from the organization to live in "sanctuary," Nicholson told news hounds during a briefing over Skype. In Mansour’s case, stealing money did little to save him, as he was killed in a U.S. drone strike May 21.

"We also see evidence that Mansour had misdirected a lot of the Taliban revenues for his own purposes," said Nicholson. "And in fact, since his death, because of his tight control over Taliban finances ... the Taliban are having trouble getting control of their own finances."

Nicholson claimed Mansour’s death has significantly disrupted Taliban operations, despite the group’s claims it has successfully transitioned to a new leader, Mullah Haibatullah Akhundzada
...Deputy to Taliban supremo Mullah Akhtar Mansour...
. The quick replacement of Mansour, which occurred within a week of his death, was reportedly not inclusive and has "exacerbated" existing tensions previously seen within the group’s leadership.

Missing Ex-Guantánamo Prisoner, Al-Qaeda Fan Found in Venezuela
[BREITBART] Jihad Ahmad Diyab, a former Guantánamo Bay detainee who was released to Uruguay as part of a deal between the White House and the socialist government of former President José Mujica, has surfaced in Venezuela after his disappearance a month ago. He is demanding to be flown to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
to reunite with his Syrian family.

The News Agency that Dare Not be Named reports that Uruguayan officials have confirmed that Diyab has resurfaced at the Uruguayan consulate in Caracas, demanding to be sent anywhere but Uruguay, but preferring Turkey. "He expressed clearly that in no case was he interested in returning to Uruguay, but required the assistance of our country for his proposal," the Uruguayan Foreign Ministry confirmed in a statement.

Uruguay had granted visas to Diyab’s family members to come live with him in the South American country, which will now be revoked, as he refuses to return. Diyab is not wanted by any government and free to travel to Turkey if he so chooses, but does not have the funds to do so and is requesting Uruguay pay for his flight.

The Uruguayan government has refused to pay his flight to Turkey, calling such a move "inappropriate" because of his repeated declarations that he would rather be anywhere else on earth but Uruguay. He is free to return to Uruguay at any point, however.

Diyab had been missing since late June, when he traveled to the Uruguay-Brazil border, allegedly to spend the end of Ramadan there. A report in early July suggested that Diyab had reached Venezuela, though it did not specify where in Venezuela he had arrived or why he chose that nation. Diyab allegedly told Uruguayan consulate workers that he had taken a bus out of Brazil to Venezuela.

Uruguay agreed to take six former Guantánamo Bay detainees in 2014, all of whom at some point in time have participated in protests against Uruguay. Their inability to speak Spanish made finding a job in the nation’s capital extremely difficult, and adjusting to Latin American culture proved a challenge. Some refused to get jobs or take government-provided Spanish lessons. Two of the men endured short-lived marriages, annulled after domestic abuse claims.

One Uruguayan official, shortly following Diyab’s disappearance, was quick to remark that the former jihadi detainee was "Brazil’s problem" now.

Kelly Keiderling, the American ambassador in Montevideo, has expressed concern
...meaning the brow was mildly wrinkled, the eyebrows drawn slightly together, and a thoughtful expression assumed, not that anything was actually done or indeed that any thought was actually expended...
with Diyab’s behavior. "Anyone like Diyab concerns us once they have been in Guantánamo," she said, "In the security world, we do everything possible to understand what could be the threats and see if there are ways to mitigate them."

Abu Jundal convicted in 2006 arms haul case
[KAUMUDIGLOBAL] MUMBAI: 26/11 key plotter Abu Jundal and 11 others were Thursday convicted by a special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court in the 2006 Aurangabad arms haul case.

The court acquitted eight others in the case while trial of two accused have been separated.

Special MCOCA Judge Shrikant Anekar delivered the verdict after final arguments in the case concluded recently following a ten-year-long wait.

The court also dropped MCOCA charges in the case, in which 22 people, including Lashkar-e-Taiba

On May 8, 2006, a Maharashtra ATS team chased a Tata Sumo and an Indica car on Chandwad-Manmad Highway near Aurangabad and arrested three terror suspects and seized 30kg of RDX, 10 AK-47 assault rifles and 3,200 bullets.

The Indica, allegedly driven by Jundal, managed to give police the slip. Jundal, who hails from Beed district of Maharashtra, drove to Malegaon and a few days later he escaped to Bangladesh from where he fled to Pakistain, according to the state police.

in 2012. Later, charges were framed against the arrested accused in August 2013.

During the trial, the prosecution examined 100 witnesses while defence lawyers examined 16.

The trial was stayed by the Supreme Court for a while after one of the accused challenged constitutional validity of certain provisions of MCOCA. The stay was vacated in 2009.

In August last year, the Bombay High Court directed the lower court to expedite the trial.

(LeT) forces of Evil to reach India for carrying out the 2008 Mumbai attack, overturning an anti-terrorism court verdict which it termed "flawed."

"The Islamabad High Court has set aside the verdict of trial court [Anti-Terrorism Court] in Mumbai case for not allowing sending of a commission to Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
for inspection of Al-Fauz boat used by Mumbai attack terrorists," Chaudhry Azhar, prosecution chief in the Mumbai attack case, said. He said the High Court termed the trial court decision "flawed and not in accordance with law" and allowed examination of the boat in the port city of Karachi.

Decision challenged
The prosecution in May had challenged the trial court’s decision to reject its plea to form a commission to examine the boat ’Al-Fauz’ used by Mumbai attack forces of Evil so that the vessel could be made "case property."

Al-Fauz is in the custody of Pak authorities in Karachi, from where the 10 krazed killers, armed with AK-47 assault rifles and hand grenades, had left for India to carry out the Mumbai attack that claimed 166 lives.

The High Court, however, has not specified in its order whether it is necessary to form a commission comprising prosecution and defence lawyers for the inspection of the boat. "The trial court is likely to send court officials for the inspection of Al-Fauz since it has received no direction of forming a commission for the purpose," another court official said. "The trial court will nominate the official[s] for the inspection of the boat in the September 7 hearing," he said.

The trial court on Wednesday held a hearing in the Mumbai attack case in Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi.

’No reply yet from India on witnesses’

It was informed that Pakistain had not received a reply from India about sending its 24 witnesses here to record their statements in the case. The court adjourned the proceedings in the case till September 7.

Bangladesh
Bangladesh upholds death sentence for six militants
[The Hindu] A Bangladesh court on Thursday upheld the death sentence for six Islamist snuffies convicted over a suicide kaboom in 2005 of a lawyer’s office that killed eight people, a top prosecutor said.

Bangladesh’s judiciary is under pressure to fast track cases involving snuffies as the government faces mounting criticism to crackdown on Islamists over a series of recent deadly killings. A Bench of two High Court judges rejected appeals from the six convicted over the 2005 bombing, claimed by local turban group Jamat-ul- Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB).

Charges proved beyond doubt
"The court upheld the death orders against the six JMB turbans as the charges against them were proved beyond any doubt," Deputy Attorney-General Sheikh A.K.M. Moniruzzaman told AFP.

JMB has also been blamed for a siege this month by five gunnies on an upscale cafe in Dhaka that killed 20 mostly foreign hostages and two coppers.

Police have rejected the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(IS) group’s claim for the July 1 attack. The group posted gruesome images of the carnage before the military stormed the cafe.

Conspired, assisted in the bombing
Mr. Moniruzzaman said the six convicted snuffies had conspired and assisted in the bombing of the lawyer’s office just north of Dhaka, part of JMB’s then deadly campaign against the secular judiciary.

"Of the ten JMB turbans originally sentenced to death by the trial court in 2013, two were acquitted by the High Court and two others were sentenced to life in prison," he added.

The attack was one of a series of blasts the JMB carried out in 2005, then raising fears that the Moslem-majority nation would descend into Afghanistan-style Islamic militancy.

Four lawyers and four litigants died in the attack. The jacket wallah was also killed.

Now, it has regrouped and is stronger
Authorities launched a crack down on the JMB at the time, but it has regrouped in recent years under new leaders. According to experts, it has been actively recruiting young and highly educated young men to its ranks.

Police have blamed the banned group for scores of gruesome murders of religious minorities, as well as of foreigners, since 2013.

Europe
Angry mourners confront Muslims who chant 'Allahu Akbar' at Munich shooting memorial
[EXPRESS.CO.UK] MOURNERS trying to pay peaceful respects at the Munich shooting memorial were disrupted by a group of men who began shouting 'Allahu Akbar' at the site

The disturbing confrontation unfolded just days after an 18-year-old German-Iranian man opened fire in a crowded Munich shopping mall and a nearby McDonald’s. The attack, which sent shockwaves throughout Germany, left nine people dead and maimed 16 others.

While the country, still shaken by the attack, attempts to reinstate order, a disturbance caught on camera at the makeshift memorial for the shooting saw the mourners dramatically turn on each other.

A group of Moslem men at the memorial shouted, "Allahu Akbar!"

The video exposes the tensions running high throughout the country as both Germany and La Belle France have been hit by several attacks in recent weeks.

During the incident, a group of Moslem men arrived at the memorial and disrupted silent mourners who had gathered together at the scene to pay their respects to the dead.

They repeatedly chanted "Allahu Akbar!", an Islamic phrase that translates to "God is the greatest."

The Italian news outlet Il Fatto Quotidiano released the footage of the confrontation which took place on Sunday evening.

Many reports in the shooting's immediate aftermath assumed the attacker had terrorist intentions but officials are now ruling this out.

The disturbance at the memorial became so fraught that police had to eventually intervene.

In the short video, a well-built man tries to shout down "a group of young Moslem men" who are all chanting "Allahu Akbar".

One of the men in the video can be seen criticising the "unjust world we live in".

Il Fatto Quotidiano reported that the young men had actually lost friends in the attack and had come to mourn.
Which young men -- the ones who were silenty mourning or the ones shouting loudly proclaiming the triumph of Islam?

ISIS executes one in Aleppo

[ARA News] ALEPPO – Islamic State’s (ISIS) jihadis on Thursday publicly executed and crucified a man in Syria’s northern Aleppo province, activists and eyewitnesses reported.

Hussein Muhammad, 28, was reportedly arrested by the ISIS-led Islamic Police in al-Bab city in the northern countryside of Aleppo earlier this week.

“The Sharia Court accused Muhammad of apostasy for refusing to join prayers at the mosque,” a media activist told ARA News in al-Bab, speaking on condition of anonymity.

“A Sharia judge decided to execute and crucify the man in public, claiming he was an apostate who refused to perform Sharia duties and violated the basic laws of the Caliphate,” the source reported.

Muhammad was executed by gunfire, and his corpse was crucified on an electricity pole in central al-Bab.

“The victims’ body will remain crucified for three days, and ISIS threatened people that anyone who would try to remove him will be mercilessly punished,” rights activist Ahmed al-Beik told ARA News, adding that hundreds of al-Bab residents gathered on Thursday afternoon to witness the execution.

Economy
U.S. Economy Grew Less-Than-Forecast 1.2% in Second Quarter
Unexpectedly!
The U.S. economy expanded less than forecast in the second quarter after a weaker start to the year than previously estimated as companies slimmed down inventories and remained wary of investing amid shaky global demand.

Gross domestic product rose at a 1.2 percent annualized rate after a 0.8 percent advance the prior quarter, Commerce Department figures showed Friday in Washington. The median forecast of economists surveyed by Bloomberg called for a 2.5 percent second-quarter increase.

The report raises the risk to the outlook at a time Federal Reserve policy makers are looking for sustained improvement. While consumers were resilient last quarter, businesses were cautious -- cutting back on investment and aggressively reducing stockpiles amid weak global markets, heightened uncertainty and the lingering drag from a stronger dollar.

“We’re just muddling through," said Joseph LaVorgna, chief U.S. economist at Deutsche Bank Securities Inc. in New York, who had forecast a 1 percent gain in second-quarter GDP. “Consumer spending looks good, but the problem is that the rest of the economy is soft. The economy remains vulnerable to downside risks. The Fed is right to be cautious."

Private fixed investment, which includes residential and business spending, dropped at a 3.2 percent pace in the second quarter, the most in seven years.

With Friday’s report, the Commerce Department also issued its annual revisions, updating the data back through 2013.
And the revisions always go in one direction...
The first-quarter’s reading was revised from a previously reported 1.1 percent gain. The new breakdown shows a more pronounced slowdown in the economy heading into 2016. The year-over-year growth rate cooled from 3.3 percent in last year’s first quarter to 1.9 percent in the final three months of 2015, rather than the previous downshift from 2.9 percent to 2 percent.

The easing in growth continued into the first half of this year. The year-over-year pace for the first quarter of 2016 was revised down to 1.6 percent from 2.1 percent, the revisions showed. That revised trajectory has implications for Fed officials, as they’re faced with an expansion that has been steadily losing steam.

Economists’ second-quarter estimates for GDP, or the value of all goods and services produced, ranged from 1 percent to 3.2 percent, according to a Bloomberg survey. The growth estimate is the first of three for the quarter, with the other releases scheduled for August and September when more information becomes available.

Inventories were reduced by $8.1 billion in the second quarter, the most since third quarter of 2011 and subtracting 1.16 percentage points from the economy. At the same time, leaner inventories could set the stage for a pickup in production later this year should demand hold up.

Household consumption, which accounts for about 70 percent of the economy, grew at a 4.2 percent annualized rate, the biggest jump since the end of 2014 and adding 2.83 percentage points to growth. That followed a revised 1.6 percent increase from January through March. The Bloomberg survey median forecast for the second quarter was 4.4 percent.

Corporate spending on equipment, structures and intellectual property, decreased an annualized 2.2 percent after a 3.4 percent fall in the first quarter. Outlays for equipment dropped for the fourth time in the past five quarters. Spending on structures -- everything from factories to shops to oil rigs -- have increased in just one quarter since the end of 2014.

To get a better sense of demand in the U.S., economists look at final sales to domestic purchasers, or GDP excluding inventories and net exports. That measure increased 2.1 percent last quarter after a 1.2 percent gain.

Also holding back economic growth in the second quarter was a decrease in residential investment, which fell at a 6.1 percent pace. That was the most since the third quarter of 2010 and marked the first decrease in two years.

Government spending also shrank last quarter, declining 0.9 percent, the most in more than two years as outlays for the military fell. States and municipalities also cut back.

The GDP report also showed price pressures remain limited. A measure of inflation, which is tied to consumer spending and strips out food and energy costs, climbed at a 1.7 percent annualized pace compared with 2.1 percent in the prior quarter.

Fed policy makers, who left interest rates unchanged this week, said risks to the U.S. outlook have “diminished” and the labor market is getting tighter, suggesting conditions are turning more favorable for an increase in borrowing costs.

#1  Does anybody believe the Fed under Yellen anymore. It was clear that despite all the abra-kadabra, she wasn't going to raise rates until after the election. This kind of silly rhetoric just confirms how phony the whole charade has been. If you know the boss is going to massively raise the debt, you sure as hell want to limit borrowing costs. Now with the debt service as big (or bigger) than the defense budget, and entitlements (with a 20% fraud rate) untouchable, what will follow is very very scary.

Seven die in Yemen market blast
ADEN: A bomb explosion on Wednesday in an open market in Yemen’s oasis city of Marib killed seven people and wounded 18, security and medical sources said.

The blast targeted a market selling qat, the mild narcotic leaf popular in the Arabian Peninsula country, a security official in Marib said.

A medical source at the city’s public hospital confirmed the toll.

Forces loyal to President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi control Marib, which is east of Yemen’s rebel-held capital Sanaa.

Marib has seen fierce battles between Hadi loyalists and Shiite Houthi rebels and their allies.

Did This Bikini-Clad Cop Make The Best Arrest Of All Time?
[EXPRESS.CO.UK] Mikaela Kellner was working on her tan in the Rålambshov park in Stockholm when a suspicious man, claiming to be selling magazines for charity, approached them.

When they said they weren’t interested but he wouldn’t leave them alone, Ms Kellner suspected something was wrong, but eventually he took the hint and walked away.

She said: “As soon as he left one of my friends said 'where did my mobile phone go?’

“There was no time, so I ran after him, maybe 15 metres or so. One of my friends is also a police officer, so we got hold of him. He tried to get away so we held onto him harder.

“I just acted on instinct and didn't think about it so much until after we had pinned him down. When I sat there I looked over at our other two friends who are not police officers and realised that it probably looked pretty funny.

“But I would have stepped in no matter my outfit.”

The man had cleverly grabbed the phone by covering his hands with the magazine covers.

Ms Kellner now wants to use her newfound fame to warn others about the threat of such brazen thieves.
