Questions about stolen elections not going away in California...
[American Thinker] So once again, this happened:
TJ Cox defeated three-term Republican Rep. David Valadao on Wednesday, giving Democrats a gain of seven House seats in California and 40 nationwide ‐ the party’s strongest midterm showing since the Watergate era in the mid-1970s.

Cox clinched his victory more than three weeks after election day, when updated results from Fresno and Kings counties pushed his lead over Valadao to 529 votes. The contest was the country’s last remaining undecided congressional contest.

Cox, 55, trailed the GOP lawmaker by nearly 4,400 votes on election night but steadily gained ground as mail-in and other ballots tipped his way.

And that follows the obvious funny stuff that went with the sudden surge of 'found' ballots that got Republican congressional candidate Young Kim displaced from her congressional victory to Democratic Party machine pol Gil Cisneros. Both Kim and Valadao were terrific Republicans who had big leads on election night, and both cases, had the elections actually called for them until ... all these found ballots got found and the counting went on and on and on until the Democrat won.

Even outgoing House Speaker Rep. Paul Ryan, the nambiest-pambiest of all Republicans, pretty well admitted there was a problem. According to Carla Marinucci of Politico:
"We were only down 26 seats the night of the election and three weeks later, we lost basically every California race,’’ Ryan said Thursday. "This election system they have ‐ I can’t begin to understand what ’ballot harvesting’ is."

Seriously, isn't it all just the wildest of coincidences? The GOP was ahead in several congressional races in California and then all these votes nobody knew about showed up. And even more coincidental, all the voting went one way - to the Democrats. A powerful op-ed by California Republican National Committee leader Shawn Steel, pretty well lays out what happened, why the Democrats could scarf up all but a few of California's congressional seats even though they came in districts that were always traditionally Republican, leaving California with almost zero Republican representation whatever in what has become a Stalinist one-party state monopoly with no competition and a very revolutionary leftwing agenda. He sums it up in the SEO as: 'No one needs voter fraud when all the rules are changed' and points out that creepy practices such as "ballot harvesting" (where Democratic operatives gather mail-in ballots and oh so helpfully turn them in), which is illegal in most states, and California's bad Department of Motor Vehicle registrations, loaded with errors, had a lot to do with it. He also points to youth 'pre-registration' voting sign-ups, even though kids get registered whether they like it or not at the DMV, felons getting their crimes downgraded to misdemeanors so as to get to vote from jail, illegal immigrants voting - studies show it was a lot of them, and involuntary mail ballots (I get those and I most certainly didn't ask for them) means that lots of paper ballots laying around from people who may not want to vote or don't live here, sitting in mailboxes - that somehow get filled in and turned in.

It really is a corrupted process, and not surprisingly, Democrats are the sole beneficiaries while the state's many traditional Republicans are shut out and get nothing.

#3  Questions about election fraud should not go away. Once fraud has been identified, the people perpetrating the fraud should go away for a long time.

Whatever happened to the California voter lawsuits against HRC and the DNC over the election fraud in the primaries?

#3  We are ok up here. We have a log house in a valley with glacial till, so the house, foundation and soil are solid. Some stuff came off but we have no structural damage. The flower shop where my son's lady works had severe damage, and the wine cellar in the basement turned into a wine lake. Road to airport sits on poor soil, so it is closed.

Break google up. Antitrust. Divest the search engine from their other businesses. US Honors Swedish Pilots For Escorting Stricken SR-71 To Safety During Cold War
[TheDrive] Declassified: The Blackbird had suffered an engine failure during a mission over the Baltic Sea and its crew feared that Soviet jets might be hunting for them.

Just the other day, four Swedish Air Force officers received Air Medals from the U.S. Air Force for a Cold War mission that had remained classified until just last year. On what might have been just any other day in 1987, they had helped escort a stricken SR-71 Blackbird spy plane through Sweden’s airspace and on its way to safety, potentially shielding it from any marauding Soviet aircraft.

Swedish Air Force Colonel Lars-Eric Blad, Major Roger Moller, Major Krister Sjoberg, and Lieutenant Bo Ignell got their medals during a ceremony at the U.S. Embassy in Stockholm, Sweden on Nov. 28, 2018. The U.S. military as a whole awards Air Medals for singular acts of heroism or other particular meritorious achievements during a flight. Retired U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonels Duane Noll and Tom Veltri, the pilots aboard the SR-71 during the Cold War incident, were also present.

[CBS8] At the post-visit news conference, Newsom called on the city of San Diego and San Diego and Imperial counties to do more to support immigrants illegally coming to the U.S., rather than just simply responding to the influx.
No, Newsom. None of this was my idea so I refuse to accept any responsibility for it. As far as I'm concerned, they can help themselves by going home. Two other alleged members of the MS-13 Sykos Locos Salvatrucha "clique" - , one a minor whose name was not released because of his age - were also also arrested, but not charged with the murder.

According to the US Attorney's office, Herson Rivas was murdered in late July, his body left in a wooded area of the Henry Avenue Playground in Lynn. A bystander discovered his body on Aug. 2.

Obama Blasts Trump's Use Of Tear Gas On Foreigners: 'Frankly, I Would Have Used A Drone Strike'
[Babylon Bee] WASHINGTON, D.C.‐Addressing a crowd at a lucrative speaking engagement Tuesday evening, former president Barack Obama slammed President Trump for his "inhumane" use of tear gas at the border earlier this week, pointing out that a drone strike would have done the job much more effectively.

Obama ripped into Trump for using tear gas when a simple deadly drone strike would have sufficed.

"Whenever I had a problem with foreigners, I never turned to inhumane methods like tear gas‐instead, I just took 'em out with a well-placed Hellfire II," he said, drawing cheers. "It's a much cleaner, faster method of dealing with non-Americans‐and even the occassional American citizen," he added.

"It's great‐you just call it in and wham, bam, thank you MQ-9 Reaper. No muss, no fuss," he said. He added that while the Border Patrol did use tear gas fairly often during his term in office, it "didn't count" because the media wouldn't cover it.

Obama grinned and winked at his audience, then dropped the microphone.

The crowd then lept to its feet to applaud the "compassionate" ex-commander in chief, weeping and yelling "We miss you!"

China-Japan-Koreas
GOOGLE Shut Out Privacy And Security Teams From SECRET China Project
[The Intercept] THE SECRECY SURROUNDING the work was unheard of at Google. It was not unusual for planned new products to be closely guarded ahead of launch. But this time was different. The objective, code-named Dragonfly, was to build a search engine for China that would censor broad categories of information about human rights, democracy, and peaceful protest.

In February 2017, during one of the first group meetings about Dragonfly at Google’s Mountain View headquarters in California, some of those present were left stunned by what they heard. Senior executives disclosed that the search system’s infrastructure would be reliant upon a Chinese partner company with data centers likely in Beijing or Shanghai.

Locating core parts of the search system on the Chinese mainland meant that people’s search records would be easily accessible to China’s authoritarian government, which has broad surveillance powers that it routinely deploys to target activists, journalists, and political opponents.

Yonatan Zunger, then a 14-year veteran of Google and one of the leading engineers at the company, was among a small group who had been asked to work on Dragonfly. He was present at some of the early meetings and said he pointed out to executives managing the project that Chinese people could be at risk of interrogation or detention if they were found to have used Google to seek out information banned by the government.

Scott Beaumont, Google’s head of operations in China and one of the key architects of Dragonfly, did not view Zunger’s concerns as significant enough to merit a change of course, according to four people who worked on the project. Beaumont and other executives then shut out members of the company’s security and privacy team from key meetings about the search engine, the four people said, and tried to sideline a privacy review of the plan that sought to address potential human rights abuses.

California Highway Patrol says the crash in Campo happened about 4:30 p.m. Thursday on westbound Interstate 8 near Crestwood Road.

CHP officials say Border Patrol agents were chasing the truck, which had 11 people inside. Agents used a spike strip before the vehicle lost control and drove into an embankment.

CHP spokesman Officer Travis Garrow says a male driver and a female passenger were believed to be seated in the cab of the truck, and nine men were in the bed.

Russian men barred from entering Ukraine
[Aljazeera] Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said the measure would prevent Russia forming 'private armies' in Ukraine.

Ukraine has banned Russian men aged between 16 and 60 from entering the country for the duration of martial law after Russia seized three Ukrainian ships and 24 sailors.

The measure was announced on Friday at a security meeting where Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko assured that the move would "prevent the Russian Federation from forming detachments of private armies" in Ukraine "similar to the operations they tried to carry out in 2014."

Ukraine believes that Russian citizens, including Russia's regular soldiers, are fighting alongside Moscow-backed rebels who in 2014 seized parts of Ukraine's Donetsk and Luhansk regions, declaring them independent from Kiev.

FBI Raids Home Of Whistleblower On Clinton Foundation, Lawyer Says
[Daily Caller] FBI agents raided the home of a recognized Department of Justice whistleblower who privately delivered documents pertaining to the Clinton Foundation and Uranium One to a government watchdog, according to the whistleblower’s attorney.

The Justice Department’s inspector general was informed that the documents show that federal officials failed to investigate potential criminal activity regarding former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the Clinton Foundation and Rosatom, the Russian company that purchased Uranium One, a document reviewed by The Daily Caller News Foundation alleges.

The delivered documents also show that then-FBI Director Robert Mueller failed to investigate allegations of criminal misconduct pertaining to Rosatom and to other Russian government entities attached to Uranium One, the document reviewed by TheDCNF alleges. Mueller is now the special counsel investigating whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russia during the 2016 election.

"The bureau raided my client to seize what he legally gave Congress about the Clinton Foundation and Uranium One," the whistleblower’s lawyer, Michael Socarras, told TheDCNF, noting that he considered the FBI’s raid to be an "outrageous disregard" of whistleblower protections.

Sixteen agents arrived at the home of Dennis Nathan Cain, a former FBI contractor, on the morning of Nov. 19 and raided his Union Bridge, Maryland, home, Socarras told TheDCNF.

The raid was permitted by a court order signed on Nov. 15 by federal magistrate Stephanie A. Gallagher in the U.S. District Court for Baltimore and obtained by TheDCNF.

A special agent from the FBI’s Baltimore division, who led the raid, charged that Cain possessed stolen federal property and demanded entry to his private residence, Socarras told TheDCNF.

The French village that fears for its British community
[BBC] Alet-les-Bains in southern France may be a long way away from the UK, but Brexit looms large there.

And it's not just the large number of Britons among its 440 residents who worry about the future.

"Our English friends have done a lot for the village," says resident Annick Van Mairis. "Thanks to them, dilapidated houses have become beautiful. Our main fear is that they should have to leave for some reason or other."

In a country not renowned for being Anglophile, the warm feelings towards Alet's 60-strong British community are striking. Retired postman Gérard Baudru says they have brought "brotherhood" to the village - as well as work for himself. "The number of greeting cards in December and January is extremely high," he enthuses.

Tijuana Health Officials: More Than One-Third of Caravan Riders Have Infectious Diseases
[Fox via Townhall] According to the Tijuana Health Department, more than one-third of those who rode the caravan from Central America are being treated for an illness. Out of the 6,000 illegal aliens who are currently in Tijuana, 2,267 of them are are ill. Diseases include respiratory infections, tuberculosis, chickenpox and other more serious conditions, Fox News reported.

The Tijuana Health Department spokesperson who spoke with Fox News confirmed that there are:

• Three confirmed cases of tuberculosis.
• Four cases of HIV/AIDS.
• Four separate cases of chickenpox.
• At least 101 have lice.
• Multiple skin infections.

The department is also warning about a potential Hepatitis outbreak because the caravan riders are living in unsanitary conditions. Part of that is because thousands of the illegal aliens are being housed at the Benito Juarez Sports Complex near the San Ysidro United States-Mexico Port of Entry. The shelter is only designed to hold 1,000 people and has 35 port-a-potties for them.

"People aren't able to take showers, they sleep on the floor, nobody is cleaning the bathrooms, so the conditions are there for a major infection,' Carlos Betanzos, a coordinator for Ministerios Nazarenos de Compasión, an Evangelical aid group, told The Daily Mail. "We've had lung disease, flu, diarrhea, hypertension. One guy yesterday had chicken pox - but thankfully just one."
for now...give it a week
Betanzos said their main concern right now is the flu, which is likely to spread amongst the group because colder temperatures and rain are beginning to set in.

Marc Lamont Hill Now Looking For New Job After Comments About Israel
As reported late last evening by our own 746.
[MEDIAite] CNN severed ties with contributor Marc Lamont Hill on Thursday, following comments the university professor made about Israel and Palestine in a speech at the United Nations.

"Marc Lamont Hill is no longer under contract with CNN," a CNN spokesperson told Mediaite.

Hill urged countries to boycott Israel in a speech on Wednesday, calling for a "free Palestine from the river to the sea." His comments sparked an immediate backlash, with many noting "from the river to the sea" is a phrase used by Hamas and other anti-Israel terror groups. The phrase implies the replacement of Israel by a Palestine stretching from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea ‐ though Hill disputes this characterization of his comments.

"We have an opportunity to not just offer solidarity in words but to commit to political action, grass-roots action, local action and international action that will give us what justice requires and that is a free Palestine from the river to the sea," Hill said in his speech.

His comments were condemned as anti-Semitic by the National Council of Young Israel and Anti-Defamation League.

More trouble for malls: A new wave of closures from Gap, Victoria's Secret and others
[CNBC] Mall and shopping center owners across the U.S. are preparing to be hit by more store closures, following a brutal year that included department store chains like Bon-Ton and Sears going bankrupt, Toys R Us liquidating and even Walmart shutting dozens of its club stores.
Caboose stoves, you simply can't find them anywhere.
Now, a slew of specialty retailers like Gap and L Brands are getting serious about downsizing, which will leave more vacant storefronts within malls until landlords are able to replace tenants.

And if retailers are not shutting stores, the focus is on negotiating with landlords over how to cut rent and other expenses. Real estate analysts say it's the retailers, not the mall and shopping center owners, that still have the upper hand in most negotiations today.

"Our early read on 2019 is more of the same ... with both malls and [shopping centers] facing another year of tepid earnings growth and store closure-related headwinds," Mizuho analyst Haendel St. Juste said.

The CEO of clothing retailer Express, David Kornberg, told analysts Thursday morning the company is "benefiting from reduced occupancy costs, which are expected to continue based on recent lease negotiations."

#7  It used to be groceries was the most common shopping I'd go to, but I don't do much anymore now that I think about it.

When we get groceries, SWMBO goes in to shop for fresh items like meat fruit and vegetables. Everything else, she orders online and I just pull in and they load it in the car's trunk or back seat of the truck. Sadly, the days of things like a box of Chocodile Twinkies mysteriously ending up in the cart are over.
She Who Must Be Obeyed (SWMBO)
The nice part is that we actually spend less money on groceries because I'm not loading up on stuff we don't need even if it looked like a good deal at the time (Looking at that pallet-sized pack of toilet paper is still sitting in our bathroom closet...) and by shopping online, my wife can get all the sales at Kroger, Walmart, and HEB without setting foot in the stores. All I do is go fetch the stuff, which ultimately takes less time to hit all those than it would have to shop in one of them.

That's really changed how we shop. Malls are dead.

Despite Claims Of Suppression In Georgia, Registration and Turnout Increased Under Kemp
[Free Beacon] Claims of voter suppression tainted Georgia’s political landscape this election cycle, impacting races up and down the ballot, but none more so than the contest for governor.

The Democratic nominee in that race, Stacey Abrams, and her allies leveled accusations of voter suppression against the Republican nominee, Brian Kemp, in an effort to undermine his victory on Election Day. Complicating matters further for Kemp was the fact that he was also the sitting secretary of state with responsibility for administering elections.

Even though the ballots have been counted, indicating Kemp prevailed by a margin of 54,000 votes‐well out of run-off territory‐Abrams has refused to drop the notion of voter suppression.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
U.N. Secretary: Rise of Nationalism Threatens Fight Against Climate Change
[Breitbart] United Nations (U.N.) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said in an interview with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Thursday that the trend in favor of nationalist policies around the world is making it harder to promote a global approach to fighting climate change.

"I think that it is clear to me that the world is more polarized. We have more and more nationalist approaches being popular and winning election or having strong election results," Guterres said. "We see the trust between public opinions and institutions ‐ governments, political establishments but also International organization ... being eroded."

The BBC journalist who interviewed Guterres pressed him on President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw the United States from the Paris climate agreement.

"Is it a problem that the world’s most powerful man is a climate change skeptic?" BBC’s New York correspondent Nick Bryant asked Guterres.

Guterres did not criticize Trump but instead said it is more important that the fight against so-called manmade climate change should be a grassroots effort.

#12

I have great respect for Dr. Judith Curry a climatologist and her research.
She identifies how a lot of the research monies go to the 'dominate theme of human cause climate change' which is where all the research and focus is being directed and far too little funding and effort goes into 'understanding natural climate variability'.
With her research she believes we can't tell how much of the recent warming is caused by humans.
She has left the college atmosphere and feels she can have a greater impact in the private sector, as she was vilified by colleagues by not following along in lock step with the majority. Colleges sadly are no longer the open debate, unfettered research and freedom of investigation institutions they once were, then add how the media glosses over the details.
Curry said she would like to see a greater focus on the uncertainties of climate science and a better exploration of them through scientific debate free of politics.

Bangladesh to send cricketers to Pakistan after safety assurances
[DAWN] Bangladesh will send a cricket squad to Pakistain for the first time in three years, Bangladesh officials said on Thursday after receiving assurances from their counterparts about security.

Pakistain and Sri Lanka are co-hosting an Asian Cricket Council tournament next month, with Bangladesh playing all their group matches in Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
Most cricket nations have steered clear of Pakistain since button men attacked Sri Lanka's team bus in 2009, killing several people.

But international cricket is slowly returning, with Zim-bob-we and the West Indies among countries to visit Pakistain in recent years.

The Bangladesh squad being sent for the Emerging Teams Asia Cup starting December 6 is the first since 2015 to visit Pakistain.

"We agreed to the tour following assurance of adequate security by the Pakistain Cricket Board," said Bangladesh Cricket Board head Nizamuddin Chowdhury.

The board would also send a security detail with the squad, he added.

Bangladesh are in Group B alongside hosts Pakistain, Hong Kong and the UAE.

Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, India and Oman in Group A will play their matches in Colombo, which will also host the semis and final.

The country’s politicians reject the UN pact on Thursday, in a 90-15 vote, saying it is not in line with the country’s policies on migration and security. Parliament asks the government to reject the deal when it likely makes its decision on the document next week.

Slovak leaders are divided over the pact. Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini indicated that his coalition government will not adopt it, but Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajcak supports it.

Southeast Asia
Philippines' chief peace negotiator steps down
[BenarNews] Philippine President Duterte said he had accepted the resignation of his chief peace adviser Tuesday, as the nation was preparing for a January 2019 plebiscite to ratify a Muslim autonomy law in the south.

Duterte did not give any reason for Jesus Dureza’s resignation as presidential adviser on the peace process, but his surprise announcement came at the same time that he divulged that he had also fired two of Dureza’s top men on allegations of corruption.

He suggested in his speech that Dureza was not implicated in corruption in an anti-poverty program for residents in insurgency-wracked areas. Duterte said, “I am very sad that I accepted the resignation of Secretary Dureza.”

Dureza is considered one of the Duterte’s closest and trusted aides, having been a longtime friend and a former classmate of the president. In his November 27 resignation letter to the president, Dureza said he had informed Duterte as early as November 6 about allegations of corruption involving his two men.

Dureza’s resignation came more than a month before the south holds a special plebiscite aimed at ratifying the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL). Duterte signed the BOL in July last year – four years after the previous government signed a peace deal with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front.

The plebiscite is to take place in the predominantly Muslim provinces of Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Maguindanao and Lanao del Sur. It will also include six towns in Lanao del Norte and the cities of Cotabato and Isabela in Basilan.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Report says Syria shot down Israeli war plane but Israel denies it
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Syria’s air defence forces shot down an Israeli war plane and four missiles on Thursday, Russia’s RIA news agency said citing a Syrian security source, but Israel’s military said the report was bogus.

The source said the missiles aimed at the town of Kiswah, south of the capital Damascus, were struck before they reached their targets.

The area where the incident is said to have occurred is where Hezbollah, a group backed by Iran, has its communications and logistics hub for southern Syria near the Israeli border, according to two senior regional intelligence sources.

Israel is concerned that Iran’s growing presence in Syria poses a threat to its own security and has struck dozens of Iranian and Iran-backed positions in Syria over the course of the country’s seven-year conflict.

The Israel Defense Forces said in a statement on Twitter: "In the course of Syrian ground-to-air missile fire, (Israel’s) air defenses sighted a single trajectory toward an open area of the Golan Heights."

"At this stage it remains unclear whether there was indeed an impact in our territory. Our forces are scouring the area. Furthermore, the report about a strike on an Israeli aircraft or an Israeli aerial target are bogus," said the statement.

Earlier, Syrian state media said Syrian air defenses shot down "hostile targets" flying over the town of Kiswah.

HUB FOR RECRUITMENT OF IRANIAN-BACKED MILITIAS
A Syrian opposition figure familiar with the area said its proximity to the Syrian Golan Heights made it a hub for the recruitment of Iranian-backed militias and their deployment across the strategic border area with Israel.

"Israel has targeted this area because the Syrian army barracks there have become a recruiting ground for Hezbollah and their militias to deploy in Quneitra," Said Seif told Rooters.

Iran is a key ally of Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad

Tehran has in recent months expanded its military presence in southern Syria after snuffies were driven out with Hezbollah, by far the biggest of the Iranian-backed militias expanding its foothold there, according to regional security sources.

A number of pro-Iranian militia bases and Iranian weapons caches in southern Syria were targeted by Israeli Arclight airstrikes on Thursday night, according to the al-Arabiya news site.

Explosions were also reported in and around the Syrian capital of Damascus, near its international airport, which Israel claims has been used by Iran to supply terror groups with advanced weaponry.

According to the Kremlin-backed Sputnik new site, blasts were also heard near the town of al-Dimas, along the Damascus-Beirut highway, which may indicate that an arms shipment was targeted in the alleged Israeli strikes.

"Israeli forces bombarded for an hour positions in the southern and southwestern suburbs of Damascus as well as in the south of Syria at the border of Quneitra province," the head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitor Rami Abdel Rahman said.

The Israel Defense Forces refused to comment on Thursday night’s reported airstrikes, but denied a Russian media claim that an Israeli plane had been shot down.

"The reports of an Israeli aircraft or other Israeli aerial platform being hit are false," the army said in a statement.
And from Ynet:
The attack came only a few hours after a Boeing 747 belonging to Iranian airline Fars Air Qeshm‐ reportedly used by the country’s Revolutionary Guards to smuggle weapons to Tehran’s allies‐ conducted a direct flight from the Iranian capital to Beirut for the first time. The 27-year-old Jumbo jet took off on Thursday morning at 8:02am from Tehran to Beirut and landed in Leb at 10:19am.
Last month, Fox News reported that a Fars Air Qeshm flight from Tehran to Damascus, which later continued to Beirut, was carrying weapon systems‐including GPS components‐intended to convert inaccurate projectiles into precision-guided missiles.

Suspicions first arose that Iran uses the cargo airline to smuggle advanced weapons two months ago after reports emerged that the Israel Air Force (IAF) carried out an attack on targets at the Damascus airport.

"The Iranians are trying to find new ways to smuggle weapons to their allies in the Middle East ... They are exploring the West's ability to locate the smuggling sites," said a Middle Eastern intelligence source, who chose to remain anonymous.

Ex-Trump lawyer Michael Cohen pleads guilty to lying to Congress
[Al Jazeera] Michael Cohen admits to making false statements in 2017 about plan to build Trump Tower in Moscow.

Among other lies, Cohen said on Thursday he told Congress that all discussions of the Moscow Trump Tower project ended by January 2016, when they had actually continued until June of that year.

Cohen also said that in the statement to Congress, he claimed to have had limited contact with Trump concerning the project, when in fact it had been "more extensive".

Cohen added that he falsely told Congress he never took any steps towards travelling to Russia, when in fact he had discussed travelling there, although he never did.

Indian police claim breaking up international computer virus scam
[DAWN] Indian police on Thursday said they have enjugged
Into the paddy wagon wit' yez!
nearly two dozen people on suspicion of defrauding people around the world by sending fake pop-up messages warning them that their computers were infected with a virus and offering to fix the problem at a price.

Police officer Ajay Pal Sharma said those arrested on Tuesday and Wednesday posed as representatives of Microsoft and other companies and used their logos.

The arrests were made after input from the US Federal Bureau of Investigation and Interpol, Sharma said. Microsoft was the complainant in the case.

He said those arrested have been running the scam out of call centres in the Indian capital and the neighbouring states of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh for months.

The pop-up messages prompted victims in the United States, Britannia, Australia and other countries to call a phone number shown on their computer screens, he said. They would then be scammed out of money in exchange for supposedly fixing the problem.

Those arrested were mostly people in their 20s and early 30s who quit their jobs in call centres. Police recovered hard drives, servers, laptops, cellphones, and computers from them, Sharma said.

In 2016, Mumbai police arrested 70 people for allegedly cheating thousands of Americans. They would call their victims from call centers in Mumbai and tell them that they owed unpaid taxes and should buy prepaid cash cards to settle the debts or face jail.

ECP issues another notice to Khadim Rizvi after his no-show in party funding case
[DAWN] The Election Commission of Pakistain (ECP) on Thursday ordered the district election commissioner of Lahore to personally deliver a second notice to Khadim Hussain Rizvi, the chief of Tehrik-e-Labbaik Pakistain (TLP), in a case regarding his party's registration and funding.

A five-member commission, headed by Chief Election Commissioner retired Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza, heard the case today.

Neither Rizvi, who was taken under "protective custody" last week, nor his counsel appeared before the commission.

At this, the ECP issued another notice to the TLP chief and instructed the district election commissioner to ensure that the orders are obliged to.

The ECP adjourned the case till December 5.

The case against TLP was initiated after the Supreme Court lambasted the ECP earlier this month for registering a party that had disrupted life in the twin cities last year.

The top court had expressed surprise that the right-wing party had been registered with a National Identity Card for Overseas Paks (Nicop) by an individual residing in the United Arab Emirates.

Supreme Court was also amazed that the ECP's director general of law could not even answer if the person, who applied for TLP's registration as a political party, was a Pak citizen, a dual national or a foreign citizen.

ECP had also admitted that the body had allowed TLP to contest the general elections but the party had failed to provide details of the funds that it used to finance its campaign.

Why Tunisian equal inheritance law has sparked controversy in Egypt
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Tunisian cabinet’s approval of a draft law that provides equal inheritance rights to women has sparked controversy at Egypt’s esteemed al-Azhar university. The debate has escalated to the extent that Tunisia is now being described as "a non-Islamic country", whose "system is not Moslem."

It seems that the draft law, which has not yet been put up for debate in Tunisian parliament, has kept al-Azhar busier than even the al-Zaytuna Mosque in Tunis. Senior al-Azhar officials have not welcomed the Tunisian move as most of the institutions’ officials have voiced their extreme disapproval of it, according to Raseef22.

The inheritance draft law in Tunisia bases its proposal on the premise that "man-made laws set by politicians are civil laws that can be developed in their nature just like other man-made laws that are part of the internal legislative system." The Tunisian parliament is expected to discuss the draft in the next phase.

Gargash said that this stance shows "the absence of wisdom and loss of direction".

In a series of tweets on Wednesday Gargash wrote: "The article by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in The Wall Street Journal, in which he expresses Washington’s strategic support for Saudi Arabia, is very important. Pompeo criticized the double standards and political targeting of Riyadh, stressing the importance of Saudi Arabia on issues related to the region. The American position is clear and positive."

Gargash added that as the US position is clear in its support for the stability of Saudi Arabia and its refusal to target it, the Arab and Gulf position is even more clear. "Saudi Arabia is the basis for any Arab and Gulf building, and its security, success and prosperity is a guarantee for all of us in a region that is still suffering from shocks and crises," Gargash said.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi said on Thursday that the Ennahda Movement Party threatened him personally and that he would not allow it.

Essebsi comments came during his supervision of the National Security Council’s meeting at Carthage Presidential Palace.

Local media reported that the Tunisian president said during the meeting- that the recent statement of Ennahda Movement Party in which it denounced a published blurb by the country’s presidency carrying a statement of one of the members of the defense team of assassinated political opponents Chokri Belaid and Mohammed Brahmi in 2013, after his meeting with him- carries in it a direct threat to him personally.

The Tunisian president said that he will not allow that and the final say is for the judiciary system, according to reports by local media.

President Beji Caid Essebsi added that he receives all the parties without exception as president of Tunisia, noting that "what I had been briefed on by the legal defense team of the deaders Chokri Belaid and Mohammed Brahmi, was reasonable."

The Tunisian president confirmed that the defense team handed him a "volume" of documents related to what is known as the secret apparatus of Ennahda Movement, pointing out that the subject of this apparatus has become known to all the world and is no longer a secret.

He stressed that he is not biased toward any party at the expense of another party, pointing out that he works only for Tunisia’s interest.

Iraq
Kurdistan Region tourism rebounds to pre-war levels
[Rudaw] The tourism sector has rebounded to pre-ISIS war levels, according to a minister in the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG). So far, some 2.8 million tourists have visited the Kurdistan Region this year, Nawroz Mawlud, minister of Municipalities and Tourism, said on Rudaw’s Legel Ranj programme on Wednesday.

During the war with ISIS, tourism numbers dropped off sharply.

The government has reduced taxes by 50 percent in the Region’s main cities and by 70 percent in other areas as part of efforts to boost business for restaurants and hotels, Mawlud added.

"We are pursuing the policy of encouraging owners of restaurants and hotels to develop," she said, urging them to meet regulations set by the ministry.

"We have now created a great atmosphere for them to develop the tourism sector in the Region," she added, and urged restaurants to focus on traditional Kurdish dishes to appeal to foreign visitors.

The Kurdistan Region has beautiful nature and the head of the Erbil Guest Houses and Restaurants said the KRG should encourage construction of tourism infrastructure outside of the main cities with loans and land grants, giving Shaqlawa, Soran, and Raniya as examples of places that could attract more tourists.

The majority of holidaymakers coming to the Kurdistan Region for tourism are from central and southern areas of Iraq. Iraqis are attracted by Kurdistan’s cooler mountains in summer and snowcapped peaks in winter. But stringent checkpoints are hampering business, said Maha Ghanm Allami, owner of a tourism company in Baghdad.

"Kurdistan has a lot of attractions and fascinating tourism spots," she said. But "at the checkpoints, they delay us by four to five hours."

She called for the KRG to loosen its measures in time for Christmas and the New Year.

Audit Finds UN Refugee Agency Critically Mismanaged Donor Funds in Uganda
[All Africa] The UN's refugee agency wasted tens of millions of dollars in Uganda in 2017, overpaying for goods and services, awarding major contracts improperly, and failing to avoid fraud, corruption, and waste, according to a damning internal probe.

The audit, by the UN's Office of Internal Oversight Services, found multiple areas of mismanagement that were UNHCR's responsibility, such as a $7.9 million contract for road repairs awarded to a contractor with no experience in road construction, and questionable payments to trucking and bus companies worth $7.7 million.

It noted "pervasive non-compliance" with regulations on "vast sums" spent on water trucking and that UNHCR paid at least $10 million more VAT than it needed to.

Tens of millions of transport-related invoices are still being disputed with contractors. The audit also found stockpiled goods, more lying idle than had been distributed in the previous 12 months, including 288,000 blankets and 50,000 wheelbarrows. In addition, 15,000 solar lamps worth $279,860 were found to have gone missing, and no proper investigation was done.

Palestinian youth caught smuggling phones to security prisoners
[IsraelTimes] Border Police officers tossed in the calaboose
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
a Paleostinian teen two weeks ago on suspicion of smuggling cellphones to Paleostinian security prisoners held at Ofer Prison north of Jerusalem, police say today.

The 18-year-old suspect was caught carrying eight phones, five phone keyboards, 19 SIM cards, and a memory card into the prison.

Military prosecutors filed an indictment earlier today in the Ofer Military Prison that says he was paid some NIS 20,000 for the smuggling attempt.

The indictment details an elaborate plan by the youth, who apparently sought to get caught by Israeli security forces and find himself taken to the prison. He was caught on November 15 attempting to sneak into Israel at the Qalandiya checkpoint north of Jerusalem and carrying a 5.56-millimeter rifle bullet on his person. He was taken to Ofer Prison, where alert Prisons Service officers discovered the phones and devices hidden on his person and intended for delivery to prisoners inside the facility.

Father of Barkan terrorist charged with failing to prevent attack
[IsraelTimes] The father of a Paleostinian man suspected of committing the deadly terror attack in the Barkan Industrial Park last month is charged in an Israeli military court with failing to prevent the attack and helping his son after the fact.

The suspected terrorist, Ashraf Na’alowa, remains on the lam nearly two months after the attack.

According to the IDF, Na’alowa’s father knew that his son intended to commit a terror attack and that he’d been training with a gun.

Na’alowa’s mother and brother were also indicted in a military court this month, accused of knowing that he planned to commit the attack and doing nothing to stop it.

The father is also suspected of assisting Na’alowa after he allegedly committed the attack. According to the army, he tried to "sell the terrorist’s car in order to get rid of it, and when that failed, he hid the vehicle."

Police say the alleged colon culprit threatened the customer, John Walker, when he complained about her flatulence while standing in line together at a Dollar General store in Dania Beach, according to an affidavit obtained by the Miami Herald.

Walker got into a verbal argument with Wilson "in reference to the defendant farting loudly," the arrest report states.

Wilson reportedly took a knife out of her purse and threatened to "gut" the man. She held the knife in her right hand and motioned in a way that looked like she was going to stab him, police said.

The US Africa Command statement says Tuesday’s airstrike was carried out "in the vicinity of Quy Cad near Debatscile" in the Mudug region.

The US last week reported several airstrikes in Mudug killed 50 al-Shabaab holy warriors. The group recently relocated to the region as a key training and planning base after the US and allies increased pressure and surveillance further south.

The US military has carried out at least 36 airstrikes this year against al-Shabaab, one of Africa’s deadliest Islamic holy warrior groups, which continues to stage deadly attacks in the capital, Mogadishu, and other cities.

Truck Bomb Attack In Kabul Leaves 10 Dead
[ToloNews] At least 10 people were killed and 29 others were maimed in a truck kaboom on a military installation, G4S compound, in Kabul on Wednesday evening, the Ministry of Interior confirmed.

The Interior Ministry’s front man Najib Danish said the attack took place at around at 6:30pm on Wednesday after a water tanker loaded with explosives detonated near G4S compound in Pul-e-Charkhil area in Kabul’s PD9.

He said four attackers stormed the compound following the kaboom.

A security guard, who wished not to be named, told TOLOnews that one of the attackers was alive until early Thursday morning.

Residents and eyewitnesses said some houses in the area were damaged in the attack.

Some of maimed who were taken to Wazir Akbar Khan Hospital said five of those injured were employees of a private company, located in the newly built industrial parks in Kabul’s PD9.

Taliban

The G4S British security company which is based in London has also confirmed the attack on its branch in Kabul.
Khaama Press adds:
A foreigner hailing from United Kingdom was among at least ten people killed in a coordinated attack in Kabul city late on Wednesday evening.

The deputy interior ministry front man Nasrat Rahimi confirms that a Brit was among ten people killed in the attack and at least 27 others sustained injuries.

Rahimi further added at least 15 foreigners are also among those maimed in last evening’s attack.
And from Al Ahram:

"Five attackers were involved, one detonated his vehicle at the gate, and four others were on foot and they entered the building," interior ministry front man Najib Danish told AFP.

He said the 10 dead were Afghans, but police front man Abdul Basir Mujahid said authorities were still working to identify the nationalities of the victims.

G4S, which according to its website provides security for British diplomats in Kabul, was also targeted in an attack in March, when a jacket wallah detonated his explosives before reaching the entrance of the complex. Two non-combatants were killed in that attack.

Wednesday's assault came hours after Afghanistan's Caped President Ashraf Ghani

Bomb blast kills senior paramilitary commander, wounds four companions in Diyala
Diyala (IraqiNews.com) – Five Iraqi paramilitary forces, including a senior commander, were killed and wounded Thursday in a bomb explosion northeast of Diyala, a security source from the province said.

Speaking to Baghdad Today news agency, the source said that a senior commander of the 110th brigade of al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces) was killed while four of his companions were injured when a bomb explosion targeted their armored vehicle on the outskirts of the Hamrin Mountains, 80 km northeast of Baqubah.

The source added that the security forces sealed off the blast scene and launched a probe into the bomb attack.

Sulaimani security ban film amid squeeze on PKK-affiliates
[Rudaw] Asayesh have barred the screening of a film about Kurdish prisoners in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...Qatar's colony in Asia Minor....
, according to the director of the cinema. The move comes amid apparent moves against PKK-affiliates in the province.

The film, 14 Temmuz (July 14), tells the story of Kurds held in Diyarbakir prison after a 1980 military coup in Turkey. Abused in the jail, a group of prisoners went on a hunger strike.

A planned December 1 screening of the film at Sulaimani’s Salim Cinema has been ordered stopped by the authorities. The cinema said it will go ahead with the screening, in defiance of the order.

"The Sulaimani General Asayesh and all the security forces must understand that cultural and art activities cannot be treated similar to terror cases," read the statement published Wednesday night.

"The showing of this movie, which some of our leaders think will create problems for their friends, Turkey, and harass them in their sleep, for us in southern Kurdistan, is the continuation of the struggle and is insistence that the peaceful resilience of our people in Bakur [Ottoman Turkish Kurdistan] is ongoing," the statement continued. The cinema said it will not negotiate on its basic rights and have decided it will not halt the planned screening.

Speaking to Rudaw earlier in the day, Rawaz Hama Salih, director of Ghazalnour and Salim Cinema, said the Asayesh have not been able to give them an official reasons why they don’t want the film shown.

"They asked whether this move was about the Kurds of Bakur," he recounted, referring to the northern part of Kurdistan in Turkey. "We proudly replied 'yes' and said it was about the resistance and struggle of the past years' of Kurds in Bakur."

Salih pointed out the film was screened at the Slemani and Duhok film festivals this year.

"What looks dangerous to me is that the matter seems to be bigger than that, especially after we sensed it received a lot of attention and different interpretations," said Salih.

In a strongly worded earlier statement, the cinema described the decision as a "continuation of the fascist
...anybody not a leftist...
policy" depicted in the film.

Slamming the "undisguised censorship," Salim cinema accused Turkey, the US, and regional powers of plotting against the Kurdish struggle.

"We deem these attacks as part of the history of servitude," it stated, decrying local authorities who "surrender to placate occupiers."

The cinema demanded the Asayesh, governor, and the Ministry of Culture take a stance on the issue and provide some explanation. There is speculation that the attempt to halt the screening is part of a wider effort to dampen activities of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in Sulaimani.

Ankara alleged the PKK is active in the province and accuses the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) ‐ the dominant party there ‐ of aiding the group that is considered a terror organization by Turkey, the EU, and US. Turkey has refused to permit airlines destined for Sulaimani’s international airport to use its airspace, alleging dangers in the province due to PKK activities.

The PUK has denied the charges and insists that the province is safe.

Asayesh in Sulaimani ordered the closure of offices of unlicensed political parties, including Tavgari Azadi (the Kurdistan Free Society Movement) that is close to the PKK. The party was instructed to shutter its office by 11pm on Wednesday, but talks are ongoing in an attempt to resolve the matter.

The party said it has a license from Baghdad and applied for one in the Kurdistan Region in 2014, "but have not received any response and according to the law... we are entitled to be given a license." It urged the KRG and the Interior Ministry to grant them a license or explain to the public why they refuse to give Tavgari Azadi official recognition.

Representatives of the KRG Ministry of Interior were not immediately available for comment.

Three Iraqi civilians killed, wounded in bomb attack northeast of Diyala
Diyala (IraqiNews.com) – A security source said on Wednesday that three Iraqi citizens were killed and wounded in a bomb blast in northeastern Diyala.

A booby-trapped motorbike exploded near Abu Sebaa village, 27km northeast of Baqubah, the capital of Diyala province, the source told Baghdad Today news agency.

“The explosion left an Iraqi civilian dead and two others wounded,” added the source, pointing out that the security forces launched a probe into the bomb attack.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but the Islamic State (IS) militant group, in most cases, is responsible for attacks targeting crowded areas, including markets, cafes and mosques across Iraq.

Tinker, Tailor, Journalist, Spy: Jamal Khashoggi And The Story Not Being Told
Sent in yesterday as a comment by BP in our Rantburg UK office.
[American Partisan] On 2 OCT 2018, Washington Post journalist and middle eastern political activist Jamal Khashoggi went missing after entering the Saudi Arabian consulate in Istanbul, Turkey. Some in the course of the last news cycle has alleged this to be a much deeper incident than it appears on the surface; a vanished journalist, murder, international intrigue, a Saudi administration in conflict with Turkey; both jockeying for power in a region bound for widespread war in the coming years. Over a year post-living in exile after being banned from the Kingdom of al Saud, Khashoggi returned to the assumed security of the nation of his familial ancestry while continuing a career of revolutionary praxis through media in the mideast region. Needing a legal certificate of divorce from the Saudi government, Khashoggi felt safe approaching the embassy- in and out, no harm, no foul.

How wrong he was.

Embassies and consulates are nerve centers for declared spooks of a nation. Formal intelligence officers working in a nation must be declared. Journalists, on the other hand, can get placed into positions of unique access and are often conduits for sensitive information. In any country where intelligence operations are being run (and that’s all of them) a nation’s embassy serves as the hot spot for intelligence and in turn, counterintelligence. With Khashoggi, we find an example of split loyalty divided between revolutionary Marxism and a convenient ally found in the politics of revolutionary Islam. Possibly best examining this juxtaposition is his quote from a WaPo piece in late August:

Arabia
US provides new evidence on Iran violating UN arms export ban in Yemen
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The US special envoy for Iran, Brian Hook, said on Thursday that Iran provides Houthis with missiles to target Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
.

Hook displayed rockets, missiles, small arms and debris from an Iranian drone that he says were intended for Houthis in Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
and the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
in Afghanistan.

He also repeated US claims that Iran is boosting its supply of weapons to Leb’s Hezbollah movement for use in support of Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Lord of the Baath...
’s forces in Syria as well as Shiite militia in Iraq.

The material shows Iran is determined to send "even more weapons into the hands of even more of its proxies," he said.

"We need to get serious about going after this stuff," Hook told news hounds.

Hook said an Iranian-designed surface-to-air missile with markings in Farsi, the official language of Iran, had been intended for the Houthis in Yemen but was seized by Saudi Arabia. He said it showed the brazenness of Iran’s intentions.

"The conspicuous Farsi markings is Iran’s way of saying they don’t mind being caught violating UN arms restrictions," he said.

Hook did not specify when the weaponry had been seized, but the UN Security Council in 2007 expanded an embargo on arms sales to Iran to include arms exports from Iran.

Even under the sanctions relief provided by the nuclear deal the export ban remains in place until 2021 for conventional weapons and until 2024 for missiles.

Strategic Relocation: Are you missing out?
[American Partisan] The concept of strategic relocation is not new, but it’s recently become more popular, as more and more liberty-loving folks get tired of being crammed into crowded public transportation or spending hours on the road in the daily snail-pace commute. For many, the thought of leaving everything can be a bit terrifying, and if you have a family who doesn’t want to leave, you might be thinking that your Big Move is more of a pipe dream than a real possibility, even though you see the death grip on your everyday freedoms tightening by the day. Here’s the truth: it can be done. And yes, you can be amazingly happy in a new location that is more conducive to the type of life you want to live.

Just like changing your physical condition requires time, discipline, and effort, so does changing your permanent residence. Add to that a lot of planning, and you’ll see yet another reason why a lot of people don’t do it. Before we get into how to effectively and efficiently plan such a move, however, let’s look at why you might choose that path ‐ or at least, why you’re probably interested in the idea. Over the next few days we’ll go through the process of aligning your thought process, getting down to brass tacks, and even what you should be doing when you get to your new location.

WHY MOVE?
Maybe you live in a high-crime neighborhood. Contrary to what society will tell you these days, moving because you don’t want to deal with crime, homeless camps, drug addicts, or other social problems and vices does not make you a racist. If you want a safer environment for your family, then moving might be your best bet. When I first purchased my home in a quiet lake community north of Seattle, it was a great environment for my kid to grow up, with lots of opportunities. A few short years later, within a five block radius, there was a convicted rapist, a chop shop, a meth house, two shootings, and a hotbed of criminal activity on the next corner. That’s not counting the commute, which more than doubled in time due to exploding population. It was time to go, and I don’t regret making that move one bit. It was hard ‐ and it continues to be. For us, it’s worth it, and we would never even consider leaving our little farm.

There is a long list of reasons why moving out of the city is an excellent choice; if you’re already considering it, then you’ve probably already thought of at least some of these:

Al-Shabaab Frees Two Kenyan Herders After Negotiations
[RADIOSHABELLE] Two herders from Wajir County, who were kidnapped al-Shabaab
... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
Death Eaters a week ago, have been released after five days of negotiation between two clans in Somalia.

Wajir County commissioner Loyford Kibaara confirmed their release saying the herders arrived safely in Khorof Kharar on Wednesday.

The herders were kidnapped on Thursday after they resisted to pay zakat (a form of Islamic offering) to the myrmidon group.

The unknown number of myrmidons, who accused the herders of grazing animals on the Somali border, also took away six camels belonging to the herders.

The abduction prompted elders from Degodia-Fai that reside in Wajir to visit the Marehan elders in Somalia to negotiate for the release of the two who were kidnapped along the Kenyan border while grazing their animals.

They managed to secure the release of the victims but were not allowed to take back their camels.

Plea against Rizvi’s detention dismissed as withdrawn
[DAWN] The Lahore High Court on Wednesday dismissed as withdrawn a habeas corpus petition challenging the detention of Tehrik-e-Labbaik Pakistain (TLP) chief Maulana Khadim Hussain Rizvi, his son Saad Rizvi and TLP patron-in-chief Pir Afzal Qadri.

As the court resumed hearing, a provincial law officer presented a notification issued under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance 1960 for a 30-day detention of the TLP leaders.

Justice Syed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi observed that the habeas corpus petition stood infructuous in the presence of the government notification.

At this, petitioner’s counsel Nabeel Javed Kahloon sought court’s permission to withdraw the petition, which was duly granted.

The judge dismissed the petition as withdrawn.

Advocate Kahloon told media persons that a fresh petition would be filed soon challenging the notification issued by the government for the detention of the TLP leaders.

Syed Zafar Hussain Gilani, a member of the TLP, had assailed the detention of his leaders in a habeas corpus petition. He contended that the police barged in the houses of the TLP leaders, locked away
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
them unlawfully and shifted them to undisclosed places.

He stated that the home department and the police, despite repeated requests, had not issued any grounds for their detention nor informed about their whereabouts.

The petitioner submitted that no FIR or complaint had been lodged against the TLP leaders so far. He argued that the detainees had been arrested without any prior notification and without giving any opportunity of hearing, which was a violation of fundamental rights guaranteed in the Constitution.

The secret behind attacks on Washington and Riyadh
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Well-known American journalist Leon Wieseltier wrote articles criticizing B.O. regime’s stance on the Syrian war in The New Republic magazine. There were horrific scenes of children’s bodies while the superpower kept silent.

Back then, the press did not push Obama to take a more decisive position ‐ not to topple Assad but to at least intimidate him and put an end to the increasing number of those killed every day.

It actually supported him and agreed with him on the idea that entering Syria means not exiting it, i.e. a new Iraq. Neither the president nor the press want any American soldier to be killed for this purpose.

German police search Deutsche Bank in money-laundering case
[Al Jazeera] German Sherlocks looking for evidence of possible money laundering have searched multiple offices belonging to Deutsche Bank.

A total of 170 officers from the Frankfurt public prosecutor's office, the Criminal Bureau of Investigation (BKA), the tax fraud office and the federal police searched the head office of Germany's largest lender in Frankfurt, among other properties, on Thursday morning.

A total of six properties were searched in Frankfurt, Eschborn and Gross-Umstadt, the public prosecutor said.

It is suspected that bank employees helped customers set up offshore firms in tax havens.

The prosecutor suspects further that proceeds from criminal activity were transferred into Deutsche Bank accounts without the bank flagging the transactions as potential money-laundering cases.

The investigation was launched after evaluation of the explosive Panama Papers tax haven revelations and the previous Offshore Leaks report of offshore bank accounts, according to a government front man, Nadja Niesen.

Muqtada al-Sadr and rising tensions between Iran and Iraq
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Economic and political tensions are rising between Iran and Iraq. One of the major contributors is the souring of Moqtada Tater al-Sadr

He has been their main operative in Iraq for much of the time since.
