Your Weekly East Boston MS-13 Gang Update
[Universal Hub] - A judge today sentenced MS-13 member Edwin "Sangriento" Gonzalez to life in federal prison for helping to butcher one teen on Constitution Beach in 2015 and a second teen five months later on Falcon Street because he thought they were members of a rival gang, the US Attorney's office reports.

According to court documents and the US Attorney's office, Gonzalez lured Wilson Martinez, 15, to Constitution Beach in September, 2015, by pretending to be a girl on Facebook. Once he arrived, Gonzalez and other members of the Molinos Locos Salvatrucha stabbed him 33 times and smashed his head repeatedly with rocks.

Update: Why Hezbollah Is in Argentina
[Clarion Project] Threat analyses of Middle Eastern terror organizations in Latin American countries are now focusing on why Hezbollah is in Argentina.

On November 15, 2018, two Argentine citizens were arrested in Buenos Aires for their suspected connections to Hezbollah. They were discovered in possession of weapons ‐ including a rifle, shotgun and a number of handguns ‐ as well as "credentials in Arabic and an image of the Hezbollah flag" along with evidence of travel abroad.

Just this summer, Argentina’s government initiated a first strike against a Hezbollah fundraising network in the Triple Frontier (the junction between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil), where one of Hezbollah’s cash cow operations engages in drug trafficking and money laundering.

In 2002, the Bush administration identified the Triple Frontier as a hotbed for terrorism finance activities that included Hezbollah. Counter-terrorism experts have identified the Triple Frontier as the most important Hezbollah base outside of Lebanon.

A key question surrounding this story centers around the question of why we’re seeing Hezbollah-specific activity in Argentina. Part of the answer includes the fact that Argentina hosts a large Lebanese expat community. Hezbollah’s staunch anti-Israel views are culturally welcomed in Argentina, which has its own complex history. Argentina became an anti-Semitic conclave after World War II, when many high ranking Nazis fled Europe and found safe haven in Argentina.

Notes from an acquaintance related to this previously posted Hez-Argentina article:

The Hezbollah, sponsored by Iran, is one of the most evil terrorist organizations in existence today. Obama,Clapper and Brennan said they were friendly sorta like you can keep your same dr in Obama care. I followed them closely from a few years after I departed Beirut, Lebanon in 1983 until 2013 when a three star former commander of Korea said it was illegal to follow them. So I left the intelligence community because it was a lie perpetrated by Obama. Note that Obama gave Iran almost a billion and a half dollars. Oliver North speculated that about one third of that large sum went to Hez. A significant uptick in terrorist attacks did occur against Israel, the US western militaries within 6-8 months after Iran had received the funds. Google Hezbollah and learn about the organization. We have them in the US. This article mentions they are probably in at least three other countries in South America. If you goggle it, you will discern that Hez is in every country in South America and in 95 per cent of Africa. They have been spreading through out the Caribbean in the last eight years. They are targeting Israel first and the US second.

As an afterthought Hez and Iran enabled Chavez to win the election in Venezuela in the late 90s. Then, the Hez began at least two flights a week from Beirut, Lebanon to Venezuela. The passengers, mostly un identified, were granted citizen status in Venezuela. Sadly, most of the passengers disappeared into the Caribbean and Fl. Several years after these flights commenced mosques began to proliferate in Fl and the Caribbean.

How Russian military intelligence organizes coups
[NewsRep] Bellingcat has uncovered the identity of a second Russia military intelligence officer involved in a failed 2016 coup d’état attempt in Montenegro. According to the British-based group, Vladimir Nikolaevich Moiseev is the second GRU officer (the first Russian military intelligence officer, Eduard Shishmakov, had been uncovered in the wake of the 2016 events). Both men are being hunted by Interpol and European law enforcement for allegedly organising the coup.
Russia, Regime Changes, Journalism, Ham radio...? Does TMEI offer distance learning ?
The botched coup was an attempt to stop Montenegro from joining NATO (it occurred one year before the crucial vote). It was scheduled for the day of the parliamentary elections. Besides the two GRU officers, the coup involved the Montenegrin pro-Russian opposition and numerous Serbs. And it’s just one more attempt by the Russian government to influence foreign political processes. The Kremlin’s attitude signals a complete disregard for democratic processes and, more importantly, an aggressive strategy toward its opponents. Moscow prefers to negotiate only with an upper hand. The invasion and illegal annexation of Crimea is a paragon of this strategy. The Russian military first occupied the province and then held elections to decide whether its citizens wished to join Russia.

According to Bellingcat, Moiseev is a Lieutenant Colonel with the GRU, the foreign military intelligence agency of the Russian military. Born in 1980, Moiseev finished his national service with the Russian army and then enrolled at Tyumen Military Engineering Institute, a program that specialises in military engineering programs, ranging from naval construction to signal encryption. Sometime after his graduation, he was recruited by the GRU. He subsequently joined a GRU Spetsnaz special operations unit and fought in the Ossetia-Georgian conflict and the Russia-Georgia War. Assuming the cover of a photojournalist, he then toured Europe for four years (2012-2016) before his involvement in Montenegro.
I'll take 'photo journalism and signals encryption' for $500. Alex.

Germany offers to mediate between Russia and Ukraine
[DW] German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas has said Germany could mediate between Ukraine and Russia in the ongoing crisis in the Sea of Azov. But some critics in Germany are calling on Berlin to help Kyiv militarily.

Angela Merkel and various members of her Cabinet have appealed to both sides of the Ukraine-Russia conflict to de-escalate amid Ukraine's calls for more military support from Germany and NATO.

A major crisis in the four-year conflict was triggered on Sunday when Russia fired on and seized three Ukrainian navy ships entering the Sea of Azov through the Kerch Strait. Russia accused the crews of a border infraction, and the Russian intelligence agency FSB said the presence of intelligence officers on board, admitted by Ukraine, amounted to a "provocation."

The German chancellor phoned Vladimir Putin on Monday evening to emphasize the "necessity for de-escalation and dialogue," government spokesman Steffen Seibert said in a statement. For his part, the Russian president condemned Ukraine's "provocative behavior" and said he hoped Berlin could "influence" Ukraine to refrain from such actions in the future. Putin also expressed concern about Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko's decision to impose martial law for 30 days.

Poroshenko warned on Tuesday of the threat of war as Russia had increased its military presence on the border: "I don't want anyone to think this is fun and games. Ukraine is under threat of full-scale war with Russia," he said during an interview on national television.

The tentative solution hashed out by Merkel and Putin, Seibert reported, was "an analysis of the incident with the participation of Russian and Ukrainian border-security experts." The two leaders agreed to consider this option.

ISIS Groups Threaten 'Bloody Sunday' Attacks on France Fuel Protesters
[PJ] An onslaught of new graphic posters and online threats from ISIS supporters urges jihadists to target the large "Gilets jaunes" protests in France that broke out Nov. 17 over frustration with rising gas prices and taxes.

The "yellow vest" demonstrators against Macron government policies, largely rural French clad in roadside safety vests, have blocked roads and clashed with police. Two people have been killed and hundreds injured. More than 100,000 people were drawn to the protests across France this past Saturday.

One poster circulated among ISIS supporters online, showing a terrorist in front of the Eiffel Tower, urged jihadists to make "an appointment with an important event -- wait until Sunday." It included the "Just Terror" catchphrase that ISIS uses for lone jihad.

Another depicted a person wearing a black ball cap and sweatshirt looking out a window, with news photos of the "Gilets jaunes" protests above, and similarly warned of a Sunday attack: "Attendez -- Just Terror -- sera chez vous, Dimanche, en France." Yet another warned of a "bloody" Sunday.

And another image showed crosshairs superimposed on yellow-vested protesters on the Champs-Elysées: "O supporter of the caliphate in Europe and more particularly in France: Attack."

Northern California sheriff's star rises with relief roles
[AP] CHICO, Calif. (AP) ‐ Those who had fled a deadly Northern California wildfire were looking for answers at an evacuation center when Sheriff Kory Honea walked in. They jumped to their feet, clapped and cheered.

The Butte County sheriff came to watch a recent briefing by a state official, but as the public face of the force fighting the flames and bringing relief to those who lost everything, he’s a star attraction.

"He’s become larger than life," said Paradise Councilman Michael Zuccolillo, who stayed behind to help Honea evacuate the town of 27,000 as flames roared in Nov. 8. "He’s enormously popular."

Internet memes describing Honea as a hero are sweeping social media, including one saying his "calendar skips April 1 because nobody fools Honea." Residents of the predominantly rural and Republican-leaning region post hundreds of comments of support on the sheriff department’s Facebook page. National and international media outlets clamor for interviews.

The 48-year-old was already a well-liked and high-profile figure among many of the 220,000 residents of Butte County, a wooded region in the Sierra Nevada foothills that’s a destination for hunters and fishermen about 175 miles (282 kilometers) north of San Francisco.

That’s because the wildfire is the second major disaster in less than two years in which he’s had a major role. In February 2017, a spillway at the nation’s tallest dam threatened to collapse and send a torrent of water flooding into downstream communities.

Ukraine-Russia sea clash: Trump may cancel G20 Putin talks
[BBC] US President Donald Trump says he may cancel a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin following a maritime clash between Russia and Ukraine.

Mr Trump told the Washington Post he was waiting for a "full report" after Russian ships fired on and seized three Ukrainian boats on Sunday.

Ukraine described it as an "act of aggression" but Russia said the ships had illegally entered its waters.

Martial law has been imposed in parts of Ukraine, in an unprecedented move.

Meanwhile, the US has urged European states to do more to support Ukraine.

State department spokeswoman Heather Nauert said Washington wanted to see tougher enforcement of sanctions against Russia.

What did Donald Trump say?

Mr Trump and Mr Putin are due to meet on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Buenos Aires later this week.

However, Mr Trump told the Washington Post that the report coming from his national security team would be "very determinative".

"Maybe I won't have the meeting [with Mr Putin]. Maybe I won't even have the meeting. I don't like that aggression. I don't want that aggression at all," he said.

The two men are scheduled to discuss security, arms control, and issues in Ukraine and the Middle East when the summit convenes on Friday and Saturday, national security adviser John Bolton told reporters.

MSNBC: Some Members Of Caravan Want To Go Home After Being Denied Entry To U.S.
[Hot Air] Very strange. We’ve been told repeatedly that these are asylum candidates, people who had to flee their homes because their lives were at stake.

And yet, according to the left-wing cable network, dozens of them have opted to return to Central America upon realizing that they wouldn’t be admittedly quickly to the United States as part of some sort of work program they’d heard about.

What if, to borrow Geraldo Rivera’s Orwellian phrase, the refugees in this case are actually just "economic refugees"? I.e. illegal immigrants, looking for nothing more than better-paying jobs and eager to game U.S. asylum laws to gain entry, after which they’ll be released while they await their asylum hearing and then never be heard from again. Tony Lee of Breitbart notes that some caravan members haven’t been shy about confessing their motives.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Giuliani: Mueller's 'zeal to get' Trump is prompting him to push witnesses to lie
[Washington Examiner] Rudy Giuliani, Donald Trump's personal lawyer, has accused special counsel Robert Mueller's team of being so driven by "their zeal to get the president" that they are plotting to push witnesses in the Russia investigation to lie.

Former New York City Mayor Giuliani told the Washington Examiner that allegations that former Trump campaign manager met Wikileaks founder Julian Assange in his refuge inside the Ecuadorian embassy in London was "all part of a plan to pressure Manafort to lie."

He linked the Manafort claims, outlined in a report in The Guardian, to comments by controversial right-wing author Jerome Corsi that he recently testified to a Mueller grand jury that Roger Stone ‐ his friend and a longtime Trump ally ‐ asked him to contact Assange about releasing emails stolen from Hillary Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta.

"Is it conceivable that [Manafort] and Jerome Corsi, who is saying Mueller’s people are pressuring him to lie, are telling the truth and the special counsel in their zeal to get the president may be going too far," Giuliani said.

Giuliani said he spoke with Manafort’s lawyers Tuesday and intimated that he discussed the allegations about meetings with Assange. "What do you think?" Giuliani said when asked what they talked about.

Manafort’s troubles have deepened this week with prosecutors for Mueller’s team accusing him of breaching a plea agreement by lying to federal investigators. Then, The Guardian claimed that secretly met several times with Assange in 2013, 2015, and in March 2016, when he was appointed to the Trump campaign.

After the original article’s publication, the Guardian softened its direct language and WikiLeaks announced it was suing the news organization for making a false accusation. But it was then reported that Mueller’s team is investigating a meeting Manafort had with Ecuadorian President Lenin Moreno in Quito in 2017 and has specifically asked if WikiLeaks or Assange, were discussed in the meeting.

In a text message to the Washington Examiner, Stone said that if Manafort did meet with Assange "it would be news to me" and accused the former Trump campaign manager of turning against him. "I have no further comment on the news that his cooperation agreement with the special counsel appears to have broken down other than to say that last week’s Vanity Fair headline that said ’Manafort is dishing on Stone’ appears to be correct," he added.

The article he was referring to was published last month. It stated that Manafort visited the special counsel at least nine times since reaching the plea deal in mid-September. Stone did not respond when asked if had been contacted by Mueller's team.

Corsi said Monday he was refusing to sign a plea deal offered by Mueller. "I am not going to lie to avoid going to prison," he said.

The alleged breaking of Manafort's plea agreement puts the terms of his deal in jeopardy, and making it more likely he will spend the rest of his life behind bars. Prosecutors said Manafort "committed federal crimes by lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Special Counsel’s Office on a variety of subject matters" after agreeing to the plea deal.

In August, Manafort was convicted of eight counts of bank and tax fraud based on his political consulting work in Ukraine, leading to a maximum of 80 years behind bars. Manafort has been in prison since June, when he was jailed after prosecutors accused him of tampering with potential witnesses.

Hyde-Smith Wins Senate Runoff, Becomes First Woman Elected to Congress in Mississippi
[Free Beacon] Mississippi Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith (R.) defeated Democratic challenger Mike Espy on Tuesday in a runoff Senate election to become the first woman ever elected to Congress in the state.

The Associated Press called the race for Hyde-Smith at 10:24 P.M. ET. Espy, a former congressman and secretary of agriculture, was trying to become the first African-American Senator elected in Mississippi since Reconstruction.

Hyde-Smith was the heavy favorite in Mississippi, which President Donald Trump won by 18 points in 2016 and hasn't elected a Democratic senator in decades.

"Mississippi was one of the last two states to have never elected a woman to Congress," said Debbie Walsh, director of the Center for American Women and Politics at Rutgers University, according to USA Today. "While Cindy Hyde-Smith got Mississippi out of that undistinguished club when she was appointed, there still had never been a woman elected, so this is another milestone for the state of Mississippi."

The victory of Hyde-Smith, who was appointed to fill the seat of Sen. Thad Cochran (R., Miss.) in April after he resigned for health reasons, solidifies a 53-47 Senate majority for the Republicans in the new Congress. Democrats took control of the House in the midterms, leaving Trump with a divided Congress heading into the next two years of his presidency.

Trump, who campaigned for Hyde-Smith, tweeted his congratulations to her shortly after the race was called.

Hundreds of bodies exhumed from mass grave in Syria’s Raqqa
[IsraelTimes] A local official in Raqqa says more than 500 bodies have so far been exhumed from one of the largest mass graves discovered near the Syrian city, once the capital of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. Raqqa was liberated in a US-backed campaign that ended more than a year ago, but rescuers and recovery teams continue to locate mass graves around the northern city.

More than a month after digging began in the Panorama mass grave, forensic teams continue to lift bodies believed to have been buried there during the four-month campaign to liberate Raqqa.

Estimates put the number of bodies buried there at around 1,500. Hammoud al-Shawakh, a local official involved in the work, says Tuesday that 516 bodies have been exhumed.

[AlMasdar] The U.S. Coalition has constructed a new military base in the northern countryside of the al-Raqqa province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported this evening.

According to the report, the U.S. Coalition constructed a base in the Tal Abyad countryside, which is located just south of the Ottoman Turkish border.

This move by the U.S. Coalition comes just days after the Ottoman Turkish military mobilized a large number of their infantry personnel and rebel allies along the borders of the Aleppo and al-Raqqa provinces.

The U.S. Coalition already constructed five observation posts between the Aleppo and al-Raqqa provinces; this has angered the Ottoman Turkish regime because they view this as Washington’s attempt to block their future military operation east of the Euphrates.

Despite the U.S.’ decision to build these observation posts, it appears The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
is not backing down, as they continue to send reinforcements to the border in preparation for a new military operation.

Syrian military watches closely as Israeli warplanes continue to fly close to border
[AlMasdar] The Israeli Air Force conducted several flights inside of Lebanese airspace, today, flying as far west as Beirut city and as far east as the Syrian border.

According to a military source in Damascus, Israeli warplanes, including reconnaissance drones, were seen flying above southern, eastern, and western Leb on Tuesday, prompting both the Lebanese and Syrian air defenses to monitor the situation closely.

One Israeli warplane was said to have circled the Syrian-Lebanese border from the Beqa’a Valley; this raised Damascus’ alert levels.

These Israeli Air Force overflights into Leb have now occurred twice in the last 24 hours.

While Israeli often violates Lebanese airspace, the frequency of these flights as of late has the Syrian military on high alert.

The last the Israeli Air Force conducted overflights this frequently was on September 17th; they would bomb the Syrian provinces of Homs, Latakia, and Tartous on that same day.

Syrian Army hammers southeast Idlib after jihadist attack

[AlMasdar] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) launched a powerful attack on southeast Idlib this afternoon after the jihadist rebels carried out an assault near the Abu Dhuhour Airport.

According to a military source in nearby Hama, the Syrian Arab Army heavily targeted the jihadist-held trenches inside the towns of al-Taman’ah, Jarjanaz, and al-Tah.

The source said the Syrian Arab Army used a large number of surface-to-surface missiles and artillery shells to pepper the jihadist trenches and military posts in southeast Idlib.

The jihadist rebels reportedly responded to this attack by firing several artillery shells towards the government-held towns in the Abu Dhuhour countryside.

Intense clashes breakout in southern Aleppo amid rising tensions
[AlMasdar] A fierce battle broke out between the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
in the southern countryside of Aleppo this evening, a military source told al-Masdar.

According to the military source, the festivities broke out near the strategic town of Khan Touman, which is located along the Aleppo-Idlib Highway (M-5 Highway).

The military source said that the cause of the hostilities was an attack by the jihadist rebels; however, the latter has also accused the Syrian military of starting the festivities.

Tensions have been recently rising in southern Aleppo after the Syrian Army accused the jihadist rebels of launching a chemical weapons attack in the western part of the historic provincial capital.

Northern Latakia: Al Nusra ambush fails, Syrian army lobs missiles

Jihadist rebels suffer heavy casualties in failed special operation in northern Latakia

[AlMasdar] (3:30 P.M.) – For the second time in the last two weeks, the jihadist rebels attempted a special operation to sneak behind the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) front-lines and ambush the troops near the Hama-Latakia axis.

Led by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
, the jihadist rebels were attempting to infiltrate the Syrian Army’s lines at the town of Jubb al-Ahmar in order to eliminate another military post near the Hama axis.

However,
denial ain't just a river in Egypt...
the jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham were spotted by a Syrian Arab Army scout this time, which would allow soldiers at the targeted post to be prepared for the murderous Moslem assault on their positions.

As the jihadist rebels approached the military post, the Syrian Arab Army opened fire on the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham murderous Moslems, eliminating the entire group of infiltrators.

According to a military source in northern Latakia, the Syrian Arab Army lost one soldier during the battle, while the entire jihadist group was neutralized and eliminated.

The source said that since the big jihadist ambush that killed over 20 soldiers last week, they have sent reinforcements to this front and increased the number of scouts along the Latakia-Hama axis.

While often short, these jihadist hit-and-run attacks often prove incredibly deadly for the Syrian military, so they are taking extra precautions to prevent them in the future.

Syrian Army launches powerful attack against jihadists in northern Latakia

[AlMasdar] (10:40 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) unleashed a powerful assault this evening in the northern countryside of the Latakia Governorate, a military source told al-Masdar News.

According to the source, the Syrian Arab Army launched several surface-to-surface missiles towards the defenses of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham and the Turkestan Islamic Party
...a.k.a. Turkistan Islamic Movement (TIM), previously the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM), the goal of this Uyghur Islamist group is to establish a caliphate in Xinjiang, western China. in the Turkmen Mountains of northern Latakia.

The source added that the Syrian Arab Army is responding to the jihadist attack that targeted their positions in the Turkmen Mountains.

Wedding photographer arrested for having sex with guest, urinating on tree, party ruined, just ruined!
[NYPOST] A wedding photographer who moonlights as a swimsuit model was incarcerated
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
Saturday after having sex with a male guest and then urinating on a nearby tree, police said.

Katherine Leigh Mehta, 26, was arrested at The Springs Event Venue in Weatherford ‐ about 30 miles west of Fort Worth ‐ after an off-duty sheriff’s deputy working as a security guard was alerted to Mehta having sex with a guest in a room at the Parker County event space, according to an arrest report obtained by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Sheriff’s officials said Mehta ‐ who also works as a model under the name Max McIntyre ‐ was confronted about the tryst and officers told her to leave. But she strolled up to a nearby fountain and began to yell.

Mehta continued walking to a tree on the property and urinated, according to the report. Cops arrested the sultry shutterbug, who threatened relatives of the officers as they led her to the back of a police cruiser, authorities said.

"Y’all families will be dead by Christmas, y’all’s daughters are dead," she told deputies from the back seat. "My dad is going to find out about this and y’all are [expletive] dead. D-E-A-D."
On tumblr dot com there is a whole set of memes regarding dirty wedding photographers. They don't appear to be fantasies but rather an actual thing in subcultures. Can't say being married to a woman who wanted one for her wedding would be a good omen for the marriage. Seems to be right in there with the bride having a bachelorette party catered by "Dancing Bear".

Turkey searches villa of 'close' Saudi prince associate: Reports
[AlAhram] One of the villas searched by Ottoman Turkish police for the remains of murdered journalist Jamal Khashoggi belonged to a Saudi businessman, reports said Tuesday.

Crime scene Sherlocks using sniffer dogs and drones searched the Saudi businessman's residence and an adjacent villa during a 10-hour probe on Monday in the northwestern province of Yalova, Hurriyet daily reported.

Officers inspected three wells in the villas' gardens, Hurriyet said, while DHA news agency reported there were claims the buildings were illegal.

The villa belongs to Mohammed Ahmed al-Fawzan after he bought the land on which it is built on in 2014, the news agency reported.

The second villa belonged to a business named Omary Tourism Gida, DHA agency reported.

Khashoggi, a contributor to The Washington Post, was strangled and dismembered by a team of 15 Saudi officials after he went into Riyadh's Istanbul consulate on October 2.

Khashoggi's body has not been found although police have searched the consulate, the consul general's residence and a forest in Istanbul.

There have been reports that Khashoggi's body was cut up and dissolved in acid.

Pro-government media has said acid traces had been found in the consulate's drains.

The Istanbul public prosecutor in charge of the investigation said on Monday that one of the Saudi suspects, Mansour Othman M. Abahussain, spoke to Fawzan on the phone a day before Khashoggi's killing.

Fawzan was not in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire....
at the time but the prosecutor believed the phone call was intended to find a way to remove or hide Khashoggi's body after its dismemberment.

Ottoman Turkish officials have not said Fawzan is in any way linked to the murder and have not released any information about what, if anything, was found at the two villas.

Riyadh admitted Khashoggi, 59, was killed in what it described as a rogue operation, denying claims the crown prince ordered his death.

Dead Fish to Power Norwegian Cruise Liners
[An Nahar] Norwegian cruise operator Hurtigruten plans to use dead fish to power some of its ships, it said on Monday, as it seeks to reduce its pollution and climate change impact.

Leftover dead fish from Norway's large fishing industry will be mixed with other organic waste to make a liquefied biogas to be used instead of heavy fuel oil, said Hurtigruten, which runs cruises to the Arctic and Antarctica, among other locations.

"What others see as a problem, we see as a resource and a solution," the company's chief executive Daniel Skjeldam said.

"By introducing biogas as fuel for cruise ships, Hurtigruten will be the first cruise company to power ships with fossil-free fuel," he added.

Iraqi protesters clash with security forces in Basra over unemployment
Basra (IraqiNews.com) ‐ Fierce festivities have erupted between security forces and dozens of protesters outside an oil company in the oil-rich Iraqi city of Basra over high unemployment rates in the country, a well-informed source was quoted as saying.

The protesters have gathered outside the Basra Oil Company for 25 days, demanding job opportunities in the oil firms, the source told Dijlah TV channel on Tuesday.

They set fire to flammable materials, such as tires, during their protest, bringing the main Baghdad Street in Basra to a standstill, the source added.

The source pointed out that the recent escalation came after the government rejected their demands to get jobs at the oil firms.

Oil-rich Basra is one of the southern Iraqi cities that have recently witnessed mass protests over the dire state of the nation’s economy. The demonstrators are rallying against poor public services and corruption. They also demand job opportunities and better public services.

CII meets today to discuss triple talaq issue
They were gonna do it last week, but somebody hollered "Get out! Get out! Get out!" so they all hadda leave. Shariah, you know.
[DAWN] In an attempt to stamp out instant divorce, the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) is set to move towards declaring triple talaq in one go illegal, ineffective and even punishable.

The council has been working on the subject since January as many of its members, including chairman Dr Qibla Ayaz, want amendments to relevant laws.

The topic is on the agenda of a CII meeting to be held on Tuesday (today).

Dr Ayaz has expressed concern on several occasions over pronouncing triple talaq in one go.

"Many council members want to impose a penalty on those who pronounce triple talaq, while others are in favour of declaring it null and void as it is in Shia and Ahle Hadith schools of thought," said a CII researcher.

Talking to Dawn, CII members said it was their responsibility to make suggestions as per Sharia. The CII has discussed the Indian Supreme Court’s recent ruling against pronouncement of triple talaqat one time, and now it will examine a letter received from the All Indian Moslem Personal Law Board on the issue. The board is against the Supreme Court’s ruling, but acknowledged that the practice of pronouncing three talaq should be discouraged.

Houthis overwhelms Al-Qaeda forces in southern Yemen, military base seized
[AlMasdar] The Houthis Movement launched a big assault, today, against the al-Qaeda of the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) forces in the al-Bayda Governorate of southern Yemen.

The Houthis began their assault on Tuesday by storming the AQAP military base in the Dahaki area of al-Bayda.

According to the official media wing of the Houthis, their troops managed to capture the AQAP military base after overrunning the terrorist group’s front-lines in the Dahaki area.

In addition to capturing the base, the Houthis also seized at least five enemy vehicles, while also killing scores of al-Qaeda gunnies.

The Houthis attack in al-Bayda on Tuesday was launched in response to the AQAP assault on their positions inside this province.

Afghanistan
The Afghan Commandos are taking a beating
[TheFreqMedia] When American SF units insert into a direct combat role, they bring more than air strikes,…they bring responsive logistic and medical evacuation support which inserts a degree of organization into the battlefield rhythm. When the Americans are absent from the fight, valuable units like Afghan Commando companies are inserted into situations where they are outnumbered, out-gunned, and unsupported. Part of the rationale behind the train-and-assist effort in Afghanistan was to prevent self-inflicted debacles like those mentioned above. NATO leadership has repeatedly said the training effort will take time and include many setbacks but it does not appear that time is on our side.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and the Afghanistan Commandos have performed so well that the Taliban created their own version called the Sara Khitta — which is Pashto for Red Group or Danger Group. They are allegedly armed with captured American weapons, armored HMMWVs, night vision devices, and American tactical radios. The effectiveness of Sara Khitta units is questionable, Taliban photographs of these special warriors reveal a conspicuous lack of American weapons, radios or night vision gear. But facts don’t count; the perception of the Afghans is the only metric that matters. Their perception is the Sara Khitta is an elite force that does not require American supervision to fight well. Meanwhile the Afghan Commandos are getting their butts kicked when they deploy without Americans to provide fire support and adult supervision.

Sunni imam shot dead in northern Iran
[DAWN] A Sunni imam who leads Friday prayers was rubbed out on Tuesday in a village in northern Iran, official news agency IRNA said.

Molavi Abdolghafur Jamalzahi was a holy man at the Reza Abad mosque, near Ramiyan, around 120 kilometres northeast of Tehran in Golestan province.

He was shot four times as he returned home from the mosque, IRNA said.

Reza Abad has around 4,000 residents and a "large number of foreigners and refugees", the news agency said.

It said that the authorities have not yet put forward a motive for Jamalzahi's murder, but cited an anonymous source saying it could be linked to "personal hostilities and tribal strife".

Iran is a Shia powerhouse, but the country's constitution says Sunnis ‐ who account for 10 per cent of the population ‐ are "free to perform their religious rites according to their religious jurisprudence".

Imams who lead Friday prayers, whether Sunni or Shia, are appointed by Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran's highest religious and political authority.

Iraq denies reports on Trump requesting oil in return for Baghdad war
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) ‐ A big shot of the Iraqi Victory Alliance denied on Tuesday media reports that U.S. President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
had asked former prime minister Haider al-Abadi to get oil from Iraq to reimburse Washington for the costs of the war in the Arab nation.

Speaking to Baghdad Today news agency, Ali al-Snaid described such reports as baseless, stressing that Trump had not requested any oil from Iraq in return for toppling the regime of former president Saddam Hussein in 2003.

"Iraq is a sovereign state and it is not allowed for any country to impose its will on our decision," he added.

American news website Axios reported on Monday that Trump had discussed with Abadi in March last year the subject of taking oil from Iraq to reimburse the United States for the costs of the war there.

"It was a very run-of-the-mill, low-key, meeting in general," a source who was in the room described the talks between Trump and Abadi that were held at the White House in March.

According to the source, Trump complained that the U.S. had spent trillions in Iraq and lost thousands of lives but got "nothing" in return. He repeatedly said the U.S. should have seized Iraq’s oilfields as reimbursement for the steep costs of the war.

Geneva confirms sexual abuse accusations against Tariq Ramadan
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A confidential report has been disclosed by a French-speaking Swiss private radio confirming sexual abuse allegations against Islamic Swiss scholar Tariq Ramadan.

Ramadan was barely out of prison on bail in La Belle France, where he faces rape charges, when he was caught up by his past as a former teacher in Switzerland
...home of the Helvetians, famous for cheese, watches, yodeling, and William Tell...
An investigation, commissioned by the government of Geneva to look into abuse in schools, focused mainly on the college des Coudriers and the college of Saussure where Ramadan taught French between 1984 and 2004.

A confidential report about the investigation, submitted to the Council of State on Oct. 31 last year, has just been disclosed by Radio Lac.

The Sherlocks, two former judges, heard about fifty people including four former students of Ramadan.

The report says that Ramadan "tried to seduce a 14-year-old student with no success, and he managed to have sexual relationships with the other three students aged between 15 and 18".

The report also stated that Ramadan individually invited each of his students, both boys and girls, to have lunch at a restaurant outside of the school.

Another student reported sexual molestations that took place in Ramadan’s car.

The report pointed out that "the charismatic man’s psychological influence and threats frequently appear in the different hearings".

This information is but a confirmation of the reports which were published by the Swiss press in November 2017.

Ramadan had then immediately declared his intention of filing a slander and defamation suit.

A year has gone by and he still did not proceeded with any suit.

Barhoum’s statement comes after an adviser to Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif told the Hamas-linked al-Risalah that the decision to "adopt" the families was taken during the Islamic Unity Conference being held in Tehran.

This latest attack by the Saudi-backed forces comes just days after they launched a new offensive in the nearby Hodeidah Governorate.

Butler at my wedding molested me, gave me PTSD: Party ruined, simply ruined!
[NYPOST] A New Jersey bride and her husband are suing Sandals Resorts for $30 million, saying they booked their dream wedding at one of its properties in the Bahamas ‐ only to have her molested by the "butler’’ assigned to them.

"This was a guy who came in and was assigned to them as a butler to make it a memorable wedding ‐ and indeed he did, but it is a ghastly memory for them,’’ the couple’s lawyer, John Nicholas Iannuzzi, told The Post.

The bride, Ashley Reid, 32, of Red Bank, says she was fast asleep in the bedroom of the couple’s suite around 2 a.m. April 15, 2016, following a welcome party for 70 guests on the eve of their wedding.

Her soon-to-be husband, Jeffrey Pascarella, 32, was in the bathroom.

That’s when the couple’s Sandals-assigned personal valet, Moral Adderley, snuck into the room, according to the Manhattan Supreme Court suit.

"Something was prompting me to wake up, something was wrong," Reid told The Post. "As I started to wake myself up, I realized his hands were down my pants and I jumped out of bed.

"I screamed. He got up, he ran out of the room. I was just kind of disheveled and disoriented. I couldn’t make sense of what just happened. I was in shock.’’

Pascarella rushed out of the bathroom, made sure Reid was OK and then took off after Adderley.

The butler ‐ provided by Sandals as part of an extravagant wedding package that also included a pre-ceremony manicure and signature cocktails ‐ was tossed in the calaboose
Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages!
after the couple gave statements to resort security and the police.

Resort officials assured Reid that Adderley had been terminated that evening and his work phone with contacts of clients taken away.

So she was horrified the next morning, when the manhandling manservant called her cell phone to take her breakfast order as if the assault had never occurred, she said.

Despite the terrifying wedding eve, the couple decided to go ahead with their nuptials.

"We had almost 70 people there. We couldn’t disappoint them," Reid said.

But she said her wedding was hardly what she’d imagined.

"It was surreal. It just didn’t feel like what you grow up imagining your whole life what your wedding would be like," she said.

A week later, Adderley pleaded guilty to indecent assault ‐ but only after the couple insisted on involving the police over the resort’s objections, Pascarella claimed.

Two Abus sentenced in Malaysia
[Star] Two Abu Sayyaf militants, who were arrested in a nationwide police swoop on insurgents earlier this month, were sentenced to five months' jail on an immigration violation. The pair, rubber tapper Hassan Ali and construction worker Din Abdilla, were also ordered to be given a stroke of the rotan.

Hassan, a father of 10 children, has been living in Sabah for the last 38 years, while Din, who has six children, has been living in there for the last 13 years.

The two, who were brought to the Kota Kinabalu courthouse Tuesday under a tight security ring, were arrested on November 1 at Kampung Unggusan in Tenom during anti-terror operation by Bukit Aman.

On November 16, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun said that seven Filipino-based Abu Sayyaf militants and a Malaysian Islamic State member were rounded up by the federal police in anti-terror swoops in Putrajaya and Sabah. He said that the suspects were arrested by the Bukit Aman Special Branch Counter Terrorism Division between Oct 30 and Nov 12.

...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns...
. At least one Czech soldier was killed and two others maimed in the apparent insider attack.

In reference to the shooting, Afghan officials told New York Times

...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

that the Afghan commando was beaten by foreign forces.

Col. Dave Butler, a front man for the American-led mission in Afghanistan, confirmed the investigation but declined to provide details, The Times reported.

The American military "will investigate to determine whether any potential misconduct occurred, and we will hold individuals accountable, as appropriate,’’ Colonel Butler said in a statement on Monday.

Meanwhile,
...back at the pie fight, Bella opened her mouth at precisely the wrong moment...
Herat provincial council has asked the Afghan government to thoroughly investigate the death of the Afghan commando.

"He was arrested alive, they tortured him which is against the law and he died under torture, we call on government to pursue the case seriously and the law must prevail," Kamran Alizayee, head of Herat provincial council said.

"If someone commits a crime, principally he should be brought to trial in a fair manner, if someone is killed under torture, then there is no difference between this act and the brutal acts we witness during the war," said Mohammad Rafiq, political analyst.

According to the New York Times, one American official said a team from the US Army’s 7th Special Forces Unit, which helped in the transfer of Khan to Czech soldiers, has been withdrawn from Afghanistan. It is not clear, however, if any American soldiers participated in the beating of Khan.

A picture of Khan after his death was given to The New York Times by his family. It shows extensive blunt force trauma to Khan’s face and head, according to James Gill, the chief medical examiner for the state of Connecticut, whom The Times asked to examine the photo.

"When we washed him, he had no bullet wounds but his entire body was bruised," Khan’s father Sayed Rahman told the New York Times.

Officials from the Afghan Special Forces unit at 207 Zafar Army Corps were not prepared to comment. But The Times reported that Afghan officials have confirmed that the soldier was killed after being tortured.

But the Czech Ministry of Defense rejected the allegations, The Times reported.

Khan joined the ranks of Afghan Special Forces thirteen months ago after ISIS attacked his village in Kot district of eastern Nangarhar
The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..

The Abbottabad Archive and the Silence of the Chattering Classes
[Ricochet] Earlier this week, Mary Habeck — a military historian whom I first met some twenty-three years ago when she was an assistant professor and I, a visiting professor at Yale — came to Hillsdale to give a talk for our local Alexander Hamilton Society. Over lunch, she told me something that I did not know — which set my mind a-wandering. Just over a year ago, the Central Intelligence Agency posted online nearly all of the materials collected from Osama Bin Laden’s lair by the Navy Seals who effected his demise.

This is no small trove. There are tens of thousands of pages of material, and items in the collection spell out in detail Al Q’aeda’s dealings with the governments of Pakistan and Iran — among others.

#2  I raised the same questions about the trove of material found in Bosnia and that attended the trial in Chicago of Enaam Arnout. The trial occurred about two decades ago, and Arnout was a close associate of OBLaden and was present at the founding of Al Qaida in August 1988. I thought sure that some academic would find the trove fascinating and produce a book on the early AQ. No such luck.

Haftar accuses Belgium of ‘funding terrorism’
[Libya Observer] The spokesperson of warlord Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
, who controls the eastern part of the country, has accused Belgium of sending weapons to "terrorist groups" in western Libya via Misrata airport.

Ahmed al-Mismari claimed in his latest presser last week that Belgium used the interest and dividends of Libyan frozen assets to send weapons to "Al-Qaeda and Moslem Brüderbund."

Al-Mismari, a former folk poet, threatened to send his claim to the judiciary saying "this case has no statute of limitations." He also hinted at the measures that could be taken to "punish" Belgium including severing political and economic ties.

"We have all documents to prove this; the perpetrator has to be ready to stand trial," the mouthpiece said, accusing Chairman of UN-backed Presidential Council Fayez Sarraj of failure to deal with the file of Libyan frozen assets in Belgium properly.

Warlord Khalifa Haftar and his backers accuse political opponents of being affiliates to ISIS, al-Qaeda and Moslem Brüderbund.

Earlier, Belgian media reported that billions of Libyan frozen funds had disappeared from four Libyan accounts to fund militias in Libya.

After 7 tries, suspected Gazan arsonist finally reaches goal of jail in Israel
[IsraelTimes] Man accused of burning greenhouse had crossed border multiple times in hopes of escaping Strip, but was always sent back, court filings show.

A Paleostinian man from the Gazoo Strip who sneaked into Israel and set fire to a greenhouse earlier this month was charged Monday with arson, illegal infiltration and providing false information.

According to the indictment, the suspect illegally crossed the border into Israel on seven separate occasions since 2012 with the ultimate goal of being incarcerated in Israel. On each of those occasions, he was placed in durance vile
Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up!
by Israeli security forces who returned him to Gazoo.

On the evening of November 9, the man crossed into Israel from northern Gazoo, and set fire to the greenhouse of Moshav Netiv Ha’asara. The fire burned the greenhouse as well as a nearby warehouse entirely, causing hundreds of thousands of shekels in damage.

The Israel Defense Forces initially believed that the greenhouse, in the Hof Ashkelon Regional Council area, was set on fire by a flare fired by soldiers looking for the man who was spotted crossing the fence. However,
alcohol has never solved anybody's problems. But then, neither has milk...
following the interrogation, the suspect told the Shin Bet that it was he, himself, who had set it on fire.

The charge sheet said the man told interrogators that he was sent to carry out the arson attack by a Salafist group in Gazoo, in order to assist Hamas, the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®, in its war against Israel. However,
alcohol has never solved anybody's problems. But then, neither has milk...
the Shin Bet determined that his claim was not true.

Israel regularly arrests Gazooks who cross the fence into Israel; most of them are looking to escape the impoverished Strip. In some cases, the Gazooks carry simple weapons in the apparent hope of drawing charges and being incarcerated in Israel, rather than being sent back to Gazoo, where they may face punishment by the Hamas terror group, which rules the enclave.

The greenhouse fire came during protests against Israel along the border ‐ in which some 12,000 Gazooks participated ‐ as tensions in the region ramped back up after a brief lull. Reports at the time said Paleostinian protesters also threw several bombs at IDF soldiers, and two men tried to breach the border before retreating.

Israel has accused Hamas and other terror groups of using the protests as a cover to carry out attacks on soldiers, or to breach Israeli communities near the border.

The incident drew wide consternation over the fact that the Gazook was able to apparently make it unimpeded to the greenhouse, near a populated area.

WikiLeaks calls for Guardian editor’s decapitation if Manafort story proves false
[TheVerge]‘Wikileaks is willing to bet the Guardian a million dollars and its editor’s head that Manafort never met Assange’

Moments after the report was released, the WikiLeaks Twitter account called out The Guardian, claiming that the report was false. “Remember this day when the Guardian permitted a serial fabricator to totally destroy the paper’s reputation,” the tweet read. “Wikileaks is willing to bet the Guardian a million dollars and its editor’s head that Manafort never met Assange.” Manafort’s defense team has yet to make a statement regarding the report.
I am really not sure how to categorize this so I set Seedy Pols, Lurid Crime Tales but nobody has been beheaded yet and it's media and rabble-rousers not pols but it is political... Maybe media needs to be reclassified as politicians?
We’ve been categorizing it as seedy politics, not just politicians, so yes, Page 6 is where this article belongs.
