Stand Your Ground? Handicapped parking feud leads to deadly Clearwater shooting
[News Channel 8] CLEARWATER, Fla. An argument about a handicapped parking space led to a deadly shooting outside a Clearwater convenience store Thursday that was witnessed by the deceased man's 5-year-old son.

No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. Detectives are investigating to determine if the case meets the criteria of Florida's Stand Your Ground law.

Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office detectives say 24-year-old Britany Jacobs was driving her 2016 Chrysler 2000 when she pulled into the Circle A Food Store located at 1201 Sunset Point Road, and parked in a handicapped parking space outside the business.

Shadow Politics: Meet The Digital Sleuth Exposing Fake News
[Wired] Buried in media scholar Jonathan Albright's research was proof of a massive political misinformation campaign. Now he's taking on the the world's biggest platforms before it's too late.

A lengthy expose on the modern day mechanics of disinformation and public manipulation. The graphic displayed in this article appears to be a Palantir data-analysis product.

#3  "The day before, Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee published all 3,500 ads Russian trolls bought on Facebook in the run-up to the election. Aside from Albright’s own collection, it was the most thorough look yet at how Russia had used social media to try to influence American voters."

Apparently, the only interest group(s) capable of influencing deplorables are those with (however apparitional) Russian ties.

Planned Parenthood, Sierra Club, etc. not so much.

The Democrats' Russian Sex Change Operation
The Democrats have had the equivalent of a sex change operation over Russia. It would make for an hilarious black comedy were it not for the dangerous implications for the safety of the human race ‐ not to mention the increasingly disastrous miseducation of our youth.

In fact, this sex change is so extreme it should make even a card-carrying LGBTQQP2SAA blush.

Take our erstwhile senator from Vermont, Comrade Bernie, even now off touring the country with the latest "progressive" fave, a socialist with the apparent knowledge base of one of those clueless dimbulbs chosen for satiric man-on-the-street TV interviews.

Bernie, as many know, is a man who picked the Soviet Union for his honeymoon. As one who paid two lengthy visits to the USSR at about the same time on "cultural exchanges," I can assure you that most of us would rather spend our honeymoons at a toxic waste dump, which a significant part of that country resembled and still does.

...Only willfully blind true believers could have ignored all of that, but Bernie Sanders did.

And now he's yammering on that Trump is betraying us to Russia. As if.

But he's not half as bad or half as hypocritical as ex-CIA chief John O. Brennan.

Brennan ‐ it is well known and he admits it ‐ voted for Communist Party USA chief Gus Hall in the 1976 presidential election. Talk about sex change operations. He excuses that as kind of youthful indiscretion ‐ he was in his early twenties ‐ and evidently many (including Obama, who gave him his job) believed him or said they did.

But I was only a few years older than Brennan then and remember those days well, since I too was on the left. I was even an acquaintance of such notorious characters as Abbie Hoffman and Tom Hayden and knew dozens of people who, to one degree or another, sympathized with them. Yet not a single person I can recall voted for Gus Hall or even remotely considered it. Hall was a Stalinist, for crissakes! He was anathema, everything the young people of the so-called New Left were rebelling against then ‐ and, in this one case at least, justifiably so. The mass-murdering crimes of Stalin were already common knowledge.

Years later, when I read Brennan was among the minuscule .07 percent who actually voted for Hall, I was astonished. How could such a person end up director of the CIA? I mean, I'm all for redemption and everything, but there are limits. Voting for a Stalinist candidate as late as 1976 would be akin to a personality disorder, almost like voting for Satan. It's one thing to forgive Brennan for this, hard as that may be, but there is something seriously unsettling about putting him at the helm of our most famous intelligence agency. (Other questions have arisen about Brennan's Middle East connections.)

But now we have him leading the charge against Trump, accusing the president of actual treason in his dealings with Putin, the very thing Brennan's former hero Hall directly advocated. It's enough to make a sane man paranoid.

Mitch McConnell Calls Dems' Bluff, Threatens Election Eve Vote on Kavanaugh
BLUF:
[Breitbart] Senate Democrats, led by Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), are demanding documents, perhaps up to one million pages of them, spanning Kavanaugh’s career......

According to Politico, McConnell told Capitol Hill Republicans at meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday if the left persisted in these requests, he would delay the vote on Kavanaugh until late October or November, forcing vulnerable red state Democrats to vote up or down on Kavanaugh just before voters go to the polls. McConnell, by the same reports, reiterated his preference for a vote before the Senate’s October recess, which would allow Kavanaugh to take his seat before the opening of the Supreme Court’s main 2018-2019 session.

China-Japan-Koreas
Spengler: American Narcissism and China
[PJMedia] I notice that my July 16 post, "President Trump is Magnificently Right -- This Time About Russia," drew over 650 comments. My July 19 post, "A Letter to Larry Kudlow: You Need a Different China Strategy," drew 9 comments. It ought to be the other way around. Russia has an economy the size of Italy; Putin has managed his slender resources cleverly and made himself something of a pain in the neck, but Russia's diminished position in the world makes any problem with Russia soluble in principle. China has four times our population and an economy that is already larger than ours on a purchasing power parity basis, and it represents a formidable challenge to American preeminence.
And they have (approx) 20 million expendable (no matching women) young males.
The U.S. elites didn't anticipate the rise of China because they couldn't believe that a country so different from ours with a repugnant political system could succeed. Gordon Chang first published his book The Coming Collapse of China in 2001 -- since when, China's economy has quintupled in size. China succeeded, and kept succeeding. Yet we continue to hear (for example from Steve Bannon on CNBC yesterday) that China's currency and economy will collapse if we give them a swift kick. Steve is a friend, but in this case he's catastrophically wrong.

...This is the same kind of narcissism that led us to waste $7 trillion in sand castles in the Middle East. We believed that our political system was a universal solution to all human problems, and if we imposed it on other people, they would act like us. In the case of China, we believe that a radically different culture and political system is ready to collapse.

...When Ronald Reagan took office in 1981, Russia and its satellites had a population of 375 million, vs. 225 million for the United States. Although Russia's economy was rotten--as Reagan and his team insisted against the prevailing consensus--its military power threatened to make Western Europe a Soviet economic colony. Reagan beat Russia in the Cold War and broke up the Soviet empire. Russia now has 146 million people, less than half of America's 300 million. Game over. The problem at present is managing a rancorous spoiler rather than a competing superpower.

China is entirely different. Its per capita GDP has risen 45 times (that's 4,500%) since Deng Xiaoping began China's economic reforms in 1979. Although its growth rate has cooled from double digits to between 6% and 7% a year, China's economy still doubles roughly every ten years. China now graduates four times as many STEM bachelor's degrees and twice as many STEM doctorates as the U.S. During the past two years, moreover, Chinese applications to U.S. graduate schools (where foreign students comprise about 4/5 of all students) have dropped by about half during the past couple of years, because Chinese universities are roughly on par with America's in math, physics and computer science. One out of 3 Chinese university students majors in engineering. The number in the U.S. is one out of 14 (and that counts Chinese foreign students at U.S. universities).
But USA has a lot more (proportion wise) womyn in STEM - take this Chicoms!
...As I showed in my open letter to Larry Kudlow, China's exports to Asia are three times larger than its exports to the U.S., and have grown three times as much as exports to the U.S. during the past 10 years. China has a $1 trillion program to assert economic dominance over Asia called "One Belt, One Road," and its Asian business is booming.

...Our problem is that we are still living off the basic innovations of the 1960s and 1970s -- fast and inexpensive integrated circuits, LEDs, semiconductor lasers, solid state sensors, flash memory, liquid crystal displays and solar panels. The big money made in U.S. tech has been in software (think of Google, Facebook, Netflix) or design (Apple), not in manufacturing. There's virtually no venture capital going into actual, physical production of goods. We are the geeks in a new Roman Empire. We're addicted to entertainment driven by powerful electronics provided by the Asians--China, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. Our biggest import from China is smartphones. The second biggest is computers. Making Americans pay more for selfies and Grand Theft Auto won't solve our problem.

We won the Cold War because the innovations of the 1960s and 1970s became the weapons of the 1980s. That was the result of Eisenhower's response to Sputnik, including a crash program for tech education, the Kennedy moonshot, the tech investments at Harold Brown's Defense Department, and Ronald Reagan's Strategic Defense Initiative.

America remade the world. Wages and salaries rose in real terms by 20% between 1981 and 1998 as a result. But we have been coasting on these innovations, making incremental but not fundamental changes, and real wages haven't budged since 1998.

The NEA Is A Racist and Evil Organization
h/t Instapundit
[PJMedia] I got something from one of my readers about the Final Report from the NEA (National Education Association) Resolutions committee, and it was so outlandish I almost dismissed it out of hand.

I’m glad I didn’t. I went poking, and yeah, okay, it’s outlandish and ... well, it’s true.

Read this remembering these people have control of every school in the country (except for a few private ones, which frankly, tend to follow the same program, so they can be accredited and feed kids into the same higher education ‐ holds back metaphor on effluvium ‐ stream.) Read it remembering these people have control of your (and everyone’s) children, 8 hours a day for twelve years of their lives.

Ask yourself if your kids wouldn’t be better off doing just about anything, including wandering the woods or playing video games in that time.

In these days, when even most college graduates are having trouble writing a coherent sentence (for my sins I’ve had to help people ‐ not my kids. I made them learn to use words before ten ‐ write essays to enter graduate programs. Trust me, you don’t want to go there) much less a coherent page; in these days when people with a high school education are unable to add the price of your lunch without a register or a calculator, what is the NEA passionately concerned about?

If you guessed "White Supremacy" you are right. You are also, probably a teacher because no one in their right mind could possibly assume that the National Education Association would be MOST worried about white supremacy.
Well, they can't teach, so...

Since the presidential election of 2016, nary has a day passed without loudly professed "outrage": Madonna daydreams of blowing up the White House; an undulating pink sea of pussy hats marches for ill defined goals; a bust of Martin Luther King, Jr. is reportedly removed from the White House; Berkeley Antifa manlets smash windows and start fires; House majority whip Steve Scalise is nearly murdered and others wounded by James Hodgkinson; high-ranking "Russiagate" FBI investigators are revealed as deeply partisan. White House officials are menaced in public, egged on by Democratic lawmakers and activists. Trump-supporters ‐ or those thought to be ‐ are physically attacked. Meanwhile, movie stars and comedians engage in escalating one-upmanship of Donald Trump-hatred ‐ and hatred of Trump voters.

Maxine Waters Suddenly Isn't Fond of Protesting Elected Officials
h/t Instapundit
...Waters loves the idea of people being faced with vehement -- and even intimidating -- protests over their positions, except when she's the target. Progressives tend to be that way. Violence is fine when Antifa is burning Berkley, but if guys who own guns say they're going to protest (note the word "protest," not "attack") at a progressive lawmaker's office -- as legitimate a place to demonstrate against that lawmaker as you'll find -- then suddenly society is breaking down.
The key to dealing with the Left/Islam/etc... less attempts to "keep the high ground", more reciprocity

-Obits-
Obituary: Adrian Cronauer - the real Good Morning, Vietnam DJ
[BBC] Adrian Cronauer, who served as inspiration for Robin Williams' breakout character in the 1987 film Good Morning, Vietnam, has died in Virginia aged 79.

Like his eponymous character, Cronauer was a radio presenter in Saigon in 1965 and 1966 known best for his enthusiastic early morning greeting and penchant for playing rock'n'roll tunes to raise American troops' morale during the Vietnam War.

But Hollywood took a lot of liberties in its depiction of the air force sergeant.

Cronauer was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in September 1938, to a steelworker father and teacher mother.

A keen broadcast fan throughout his life, he landed a semi-regular slot on local children's television aged just 12.

After enrolling in his home city's university in the 1950s, he helped found a student radio station and worked with local broadcasters throughout his studies in Pittsburgh and later in Washington.

Cronauer joined the US air force, doing his training in San Antonio and Wichita Falls, Texas. His first deployment was to the island of Crete in Greece - where he spent a year-and-a-half and developed his signature radio greeting.

He told the Fayetteville Observer in 2011 that his initially timid "Good Morning, Iraklion" gradually became "wilder and wilder" into the dramatic, booming and protracted form he would become notorious for in Vietnam.

Keen to travel, Cronauer says he actually volunteered for a transfer to Vietnam, where he was hired initially as a news director for Armed Forces Radio there.

After his morning presenter left, he took up the 06:00 Dawn Buster show mantle, greeting troops with an enthusiastic yell of: "GOOOOOOOOD morning, Vietnam!"

#4  The movie was funny ... but as for portraying the real operations of a military radio station? Some day, when I have oodles of time and nothing else to do, I may fisk it down to the sub-atomic level.
Good Morning, Vietnam came out when I was stationed in Spain - and all the AFRTS staff went to see it in the base theater, and were kind of disappointed in the inaccuracies, and in that among us, we knew of far wilder, grosser, funnier things which happened in the studios of stations we had worked in.

Planned Parenthood Of NYC: ‘Protect Our Freedom To F***'
[Hot Air] Usually, when you hear Planned Parenthood talking about it’s core issue, abortion, it’s in serious tones, i.e. this is a difficult choice which a woman makes in consultation with her doctor. It’s not something anyone takes lightly, etc, etc. And that’s followed with a claim that the right to abortion is under assault and must be protected (usually by making a donation to Planned Parenthood).

The ad isn’t really focused on abortion but it still seems to be claiming there is a threat to your freedom to do...something.

advocates working with asylum-seekers with up to a year in prison, and was approved by parliament last month along with a set of constitutional amendments.

Prime Minister Viktor Orban has objected to the organization’s calls for greater tolerance of refugees and migrants colonists. The move comes as Orban visits Israel, where he has been feted by the government, but faced protests.

Soros’ Open Society Foundations says it has spent over $400 million in Hungary since 1984, promoting "independent journalism, fighting corruption, supporting civic participation, and combating discrimination."

Orban and far-right activists have attacked Soros for well over a year, waging a campaign that has involved billboards and other advertisements. Many, including Soros himself, say the campaign is anti-Semitic.

In May the foundation announced it was closing its operations in Hungary and relocating to Germany in response to the "repressive" policies of Orban’s government.

The letter is the first stage of a process by the commission which could lead to Hungary being told to change the legislation, and came on the day the Hungarian leader visited Jerusalem’s Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial as part of his controversial trip to Israel.

Separately, Hungary has also been referred to the European Union’s highest court for perceived failings to comply with the bloc’s asylum rules, and is facing censure for legislation criminalizing the support of asylum-seekers by civic groups.

In a statement Thursday, the EU’s executive arm said it made the decision to turn to the courts ‐ the last stage of a procedure that began in December 2015 ‐ because it considered "the majority of the concerns raised have still not been addressed."

Among other points, the European Commission considers Hungary’s asylum procedures too restrictive, with reception conditions for asylum-seekers also breaching EU rules.

Relations between the EU and Hungary have been strained in part by the strict anti-migration and anti-refugee positions of Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s government.

Orban, re-elected earlier this year, has been at the forefront of keeping migrants colonists from war zones such as Syria out of Europe
...also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
since the crisis became particularly acute in 2015.

The EU also objected to Hungary’s procedure of rejecting asylum-seekers, saying "it fails to ensure that return decisions are issued individually and include information on legal remedies."

As a result, it said migrants colonists "risk being returned without the appropriate safeguards and in breach of the non-refoulement principle," which forbids the return of asylum-seekers to places where they could be at risk of persecution.

Orban’s Fidesz party has rejected the EU infringement procedure, saying it "confirms that Brussels favors migration and protecting the Soros organizations."

In a statement, the party said Hungary’s anti-migration laws "evidently bother all those who want to flood Europe with migrants colonists." It said it considered the current procedure as a "new political pressure on our homeland and proves that Soros has his people in the commission in Brussels."

Amnesia Amnesty International called the EU decision "a clear and unambiguous message that Hungary’s xenophobic policies will not be tolerated."

Hungary built fences on its southern borders to divert the flow of migrants colonists in late 2015 and Orban has said repeatedly that the influx into Europe of mostly Moslem migrants colonists must be stopped or the continent’s Christian values, lifestyle, and culture will be lost.

The United Nations
...an organization which on balance has done more bad than good, with the good not done well and the bad done thoroughly...
, the Council of Europe, and other international bodies also have been highly critical of Hungary’s anti-migration rules, comments which Orban’s government usually dismisses as biased and unfounded.
Contrast with Israel's response to the Hungarian prime minister, from a few days ago:
In rare move, Foreign Ministry fetes Hungary's Orban as he arrives in Israel

[IsraelTimes] Ministry touts visit as promoting bilateral ties, hails prime minister for combating anti-Semitism despite criticism over his praise for Nazi-era leader and anti-Soros campaign.

Obama Denounces Trump's 'Strongman Politics'‐While Eulogizing Che Guevara and Fidel Castro Lover Nelson Mandela
[Townhall] "Speaking at an event honoring the late Nelson Mandela ahead of the 100th anniversary of his birth... former president Barack Obama lamented the rise of "strongman politics" and "the utter loss of shame" among political leaders who repeatedly lie... during a speech Tuesday in South Africa that was widely seen as aimed in part at his successor (Trump) (WaPo).

And speaking of "strongmen"-- let’s survey some of Nelson Mandela’s most heartfelt proclamations:
"Che Guevara is an inspiration for every human being who loves freedom."

"The cause of communism is the greatest cause in the history of mankind!"

"There’s one place where Fidel Castro stands out head and shoulders above the rest ‐ that is in his love for human rights and liberty!"

Just for fun, let’s now review some observations by the man who so "inspired" Nelson Mandela:
"The Negro is indolent and spends his money on frivolities and drink, the European is forward-looking, organized and intelligent...The Negro has maintained his racial purity by his well known habit of avoiding baths." (Che Guevara.)

"Mexicans are mostly a rabble of illiterate Indians." (Che Guevara)

Just for fun, let’s now review some observations by the man who so inspired Barack Obama:

Paramount TV President Amy Powell Fired over Comments Made on Conference Call
"LOS ANGELES (AP) ‐ Paramount says it has fired the head of its television division for making unspecified comments that drew complaints from employees.
Paramount Pictures CEO Jim Gianopulos wrote in a memo Thursday that Amy Powell had been fired for making comments that were "inconsistent with company values."
You mean like the values it takes to dangle "Star Trek Beyond" in front of an unsuspecting public?
The memo did not elaborate on the nature of the statements or where they were made, beyond stating they were said in a "professional setting."

The memo said numerous employees complained about Powell’s behavior, and the decision to fire her was made in agreement with the company’s legal and human resources departments.

A message sent to Powell was not immediately returned. She joined Paramount in 2004 and became president of its television division five years ago.

Under her leadership, Paramount supplied shows including "13 Reasons Why" and "The Alienist" to cable and streaming outlets."

From another source: "Specifically, insiders familiar with her firing said the executive made insensitive remarks about black women and anger
I don't believe they are mutually exclusive.
during a recent conference call about an upcoming TV show based on the 1996 movie "The First Wives Club."
Now there's something to fire her for.

Libya Rejects EU Plan for Asylum Processing Centres
[AnNahar] Libya's prime minister said Friday he would not allow the EU to set up asylum processing centres in his country, in a new setback for European leaders seeking to curb new migrant arrivals.

"We are strictly against Europe
...also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
officially placing illegal migrants colonists who are no longer wanted in the EU in our country," Fayez al-Sarraj said in an interview with German daily Bild.

"We also won't agree on any deals with EU money about taking in more illegal migrants colonists," he vowed, adding that European leaders should instead put pressure on migrants colonists' origin countries to stop them embarking on their journey in the first place.

During a fractious summit in June, EU leaders agreed to set up "disembarkation platforms" outside the bloc to process migrants colonists.

Such centres would operate in cooperation with the UN refugee agency and the International Organisation for Migration.

But no country has so far offered to host a reception centre, where authorities would distinguish between irregular migrants colonists and asylum seekers admissible into the EU.

Morocco has already given a flat no to the plan, while Tunisia previously rejected it.

Albania has also ruled itself out with Prime Minister Edi Rama saying that such centres mean "dumping desperate people somewhere like toxic waste that no one wants".

Meanwhile,
...back at the wreckage, Captain Poindexter awoke groggily, his hand still stuck in the Ming vase...
Sarraj also threw out claims from Spanish rescue group Proactiva Open Arms that the Libyan coastguard saved other migrants colonists on board a dinghy but not two women and a little boy.

The child and one of the women were found dead when Spanish rescuers arrived, but the other woman has been saved.

"These are outrageous accusations, and they are not true. Our coastguards have already clarified this," said Sarraj, who heads the UN-backed unity government in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
"Every day, we save hundreds of people on the coast of Libya. Our ships are active non-stop," he said, stressing that Tripoli needs more technical and financial aid to improve its rescue missions.

Under a controversial deal with the EU, Libyan coastguards intercept migrants colonists trying to cross the Mediterranean. But the UN has slammed the policy as "inhuman", noting that the migrants colonists are simply brought back to "horrific" detention centres in Libya.

White House Protesters Enlist Mariachi to Try to Keep Trump Awake
WASHINGTON -- The third night of protests outside of the White House was headlined by an 18-piece mariachi band that began playing after 9 p.m.

Adam Parkhomenko, who was national field director for the Democratic National Committee in 2016, tweeted after Tuesday night's protest, "We are looking for some good mariachi bands to play outside the White House around Trump’s bedtime. If you have any recommendations please let us know."

On Monday night, after President Trump arrived back in the U.S. from his summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, protesters gathered in Lafayette Park used airhorns, whistles and even clanking pots and pans in an effort to keep Trump awake.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Report: Hizbullah Prepares to Repatriate Syrian Refugees
[AnNahar] More than 1,000 Syrian refugees in Leb’s border towns of al-Qaa and Arsal will be repatriated to Syria under a "Hizbullah

mechanism to help refugees return home, in coordination with Lebanese authorities and Damascus," media reports said on Friday.

General Security chief Maj. Gen. Abbas Ibrahim announced on Thursday during the inauguration of a new General Security premises in Baalbek, that "a new batch of displaced Syrians will be returning home in the next days."

Hizbullah official responsible for the refugees file, MP Nawwar al-Saheli, told al-Joumhouria daily: "A good number of applicants have signed in to return in nine reception centers established by Hizbullah in the South, Bekaa and Beirut.

"Many other Syrian refugees residing in the North and other Lebanese regions are inquiring about the mechanism for return," added al-Saheli.

Early in July, Hizbullah leader His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah
The satrap of the Medes and the Persians in Leb...
announced that the party was creating a mechanism to help Syrian refugees return home, in coordination with Lebanese authorities and Damascus.

The group has set up reception centers with phone numbers and social media accounts where refugees could sign up to return home.

"The displaced are from various Syrian regions and from various political orientations," added Saheli, indirectly referring to media reports alleging that only pro-regime refugees were permitted to return home.

He said the return is taking place in "coordination with Leb’s General Security and the competent authorities in Syria."

"As soon as the logistical procedures are complete, the first batch will move to Syria through Hizbullah within a couple of weeks," he added.

On accusations that Hizbullah is taking over the State’s role in that regard, he said: "We have uselessly waited for a long time. When the State restores its actual role, then we will be at its service."

Al Shabaab captures strategic town in Somalia's Puntland
[AlAhram] Somalia's Islamist myrmidon group al-Shabaab
... Somalia's version of the Taliban, functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda...
has captured a small but strategic town 100 km (60 miles) south of Bosaso city in the semi-autonomous Puntland
...a region in northeastern Somalia, centered on Garowe in the Nugaal province. Its leaders declared the territory an autonomous state in 1998. Puntland and the equally autonomous Somaliland seem to have avoided the clan rivalries and warlordism that have typified the rest of Somalia, which puts both places high on the list for Islamic subversion...
region, a military officer, al-Shabaab and residents said on Friday.

Residents in Af Urur told Rooters that the town is now controlled by al-Shabaab.

"When we woke up this morning, we saw many al-Shabaab fighters controlling the town. The (Puntland military) forces had left yesterday," Ahmed Nur told Rooters from Af Urur by phone on Friday.

Al-Shabaab wants to topple Somalia’s Western-backed central government, expel the African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
-mandated peace keeping force AMISOM and establish a government based on its own strict interpretation of Islamic sharia law.

Af Urur's position is important because the main road that links the cities of Garowe, Bosaso and Mogadishu passes nearby.

Puntland forces and al-Shabaab have fought in the town, which has ditch defences, several times in the past.

Mohammed Abdi, a Puntland military officer, told Rooters al-Shabaab had taken Af Urur town by Friday morning, adding without elaborating that only a few Puntland military forces had been in the town on Thursday evening.

"We were supposed to be replaced by other forces," Abdi said. "We shall recapture the town from al-Shabaab."

Al-Shabaab confirmed that they had control of the town.

"Puntland forces bravely ran away as we advanced to the town because they know we had taught them tough lessons before," Abdiasis Abu Musab, al-Shabaab’s military operations front man, told Rooters on Friday. "We now peacefully control Af Urur town."

Somalia has been gripped by violence and lawlessness since the toppling of dictator Mohammed Siad Barre in the early 1990s.

Plan to Kill Prime Minister Foiled When Would-be UK Jihadist Unknowingly Plotted with FBI
[PJ] British counterterrorism police said today that a terror plot to assassinate Prime Minister Theresa May was tripped up after the would-be jihadist inadvertently contacted an "online role player working with the FBI" last September.

The FBI "in-turn introduced him to online role-players from MI5 and Counter Terrorism Policing," said British officials.

Naa’imur Zakariyah Rahman, 20, of London was found guilty Wednesday of plotting to set a bomb off at 10 Downing Street and then try to behead May in the ensuing confusion.

Rahman, a Briton of Bangladeshi origin with family in London and Birmingham, was unemployed and living at home with his mom. He reportedly told an intelligence officer posing as an ISIS leader that he was sometimes having trouble sneaking out of the house without arousing his mom's suspicion.

Dean Haydon, the UK's senior national coordinator for counterterrorism, in a statement today called Rahman "an extremely dangerous and determined individual."

Iraq
Iraqi protester killed at Badr paramilitary branch
[AlAhram] A security guard outside a branch of one Iraq's most powerful paramilitary groups shot and killed a protester on Friday while trying to push back a crowd, police sources said, ratcheting up tensions over a lack of basic services sweeping southern cities.

Two people were maimed when demonstrators throwing bricks and stones gathered outside the local headquarters of the Iranian-backed Badr Organisation.

"We received the body of a protester with a bullet wound to the head," said a doctor in a hospital in the city of Diwaniya.

Friday's death brings to four the number of protesters killed in nearly two weeks of demonstrations against corrupt politicians blamed for failing to deliver basic services and jobs to the crumbling oil hub of Basra and other cities.

Dozens of members of the security forces have been injured in the protests, some of which have taken place at the entrance to oilfields. Officials say production has not been affected.

Anger has also been directed at paramilitary groups such as Badr, which is unusual. Badr politicians had a strong showing in the May 12 parliamentary election which was tainted by allegations of fraud.

Thousands protested in southern cities and Baghdad on Friday, calling for the downfall of political parties, as they escalated demonstrations backed by the country's most influential holy mans.

In Basra, crumbling from years of neglect and under-investment, about 3,000 people gathered outside the headquarters of the provincial governorate.

"The people want the downfall of political parties!" they chanted, a slogan similar to one used in the 2011 "Arab Spring" uprisings, as politicians struggled to form a new government.

Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, who is seeking a second term, promised that his Shia-led government would fund electricity and water projects in Basra, where the colour of tap water is often brown because it contains dirt and where garbage is piled up along many streets.

"The promises they make are all lies," said Khaled Hassan, 42, a health worker in Basra. "We will not keep quiet."

On Thursday, Shia Moslem holy man Moqtada Tater al-Sadr
... the Iranian catspaw holy man who was 22 years old in 2003 and was nearing 40 in 2010. He spends most of his time in Iran, safely out of the line of fire, where he's learning to be an ayatollah...
, whose bloc finished first in the election, said politicians should suspend efforts to form a coalition until the protesters' demands are met.

Sadr won the election promising to eradicate poverty and corruption and resist interference from Iran.

Sadr, whose snuffies staged uprisings against U.S. forces after the 2003 invasion, has in the past mobilised tens of thousands of people to press his demands.

Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, the most powerful holy man in Iraq, has also expressed solidarity with the demonstrators.

Iraq's Shia heartland in the south has long been neglected, first by Sunni dictator Saddam Hussein and then by Shia-dominated governments after him.

"We are demanding the sacking of the governor and removal of all corrupt officials from the province," said Faris Abdel Karim, who helped organise a protest outside the house of the provincial governor in the city of Nasiriya, where police had gun sex, wielded batons and fired tear gas.

About 300 people demonstrated at one of Baghdad's main squares. One held up a poster which read: "The revolution of the poor." Riot police used water cannons to disperse the crowd.

General Dostum to return from Turkey on Sunday

The Chief of Staff of the Office of the First Vice President Enayatullah Babur Farahman confirmed that Gen. Dostum will return based on an agreement reached following days of negotiations.

He said the negotiations between the First Vice President and the government representatives have concluded.

This comes as President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..
on Sunday said that Gen. Dostum will likely return from Turkey in the near future.

However,
there's more than one way to stuff a chicken...
he said the First Vice President of the country has legal cases and expressed hopes that the judicial institutions would take proper decisions in this regard.

Gen. Dostum left for Turkey over a year ago amid heightened tensions and controversies surrounding the kidnapping and sexual abuse of the former Jawzjan governor Ahmad Ishchi.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Former FBI Lawyer Lisa Page: 'There was no basis for Mueller's appointment'
[American Thinker] The Mueller special counsel investigation was launched to probe charges that the key FBI officials developing evidence in the case thought were baseless. That's a bombshell accusation that appears to have been confirmed by lovebird-turned-songbird Lisa Page, according to John Solomon. It tends to confirm the suspicion that the Mueller probe is a cover-up operation to obscure the criminal use of counterintelligence capabilities to spy on a rival presidential campaign and then sabotage the presidency that resulted.

Earlier reports indicated that Page has been answering questions from the House Judiciary Committee quite frankly and may even have cut a deal selling out her ex-lover Peter Strzok over their professional misbehavior (and quite possibly worse) in targeting the campaign and presidency of Donald Trump with the intelligence-gathering tools of the FBI.

Last night, John Solomon of The Hill revealed that he has obtained information from sources who heard Page's testimony in two days of sworn depositions behind closed doors that she offered a bombshell confirmation of the meaning of one of the most enigmatic text messages that the public has seen (keep in mind that there are many yet to be released).

[KhaamaPress] The soldiers of the Afghan Border Forces suffered casualties during the festivities with the bully boyz close to Durand Line in southern Kandahar province of Afghanistan.

The provincial government media office in a statement said Thursday that a group of bully boyz launched coordinated attack on security posts of the border forces in Spin Boldak, near the Durand Line, late on Wednesday night.

The statement further added that the attack was launched on security posts in Saro Sagan area at around 10pm local time which lasted until 4am on Thursday.

According to the provincial government, the Afghan forces responded to the attack of the murderous Moslems, leaving at least 7 of them dead and 9 others maimed.

At least two Afghan border police forces also bit the dust during the festivities and five others sustained injuries, the statement added.

The anti-government armed murderous Moslem groups including Talibs have not commented regarding the report so far.

In the meantime, the provincial government says the anti-government armed bully boyz often use their safe havens on the other side of the Durand Line and carry out attacks on the security posts along the Line.

Suspected Nato air strike kills 14 civilians in Afghanistan
[DAWN] Fourteen non-combatants were killed in an kaboom in northern Afghanistan although it isn’t immediately clear whether the deaths were caused by a ground assault or an air strike.

Nematullah Temory, the provincial governor’s front man, said the kaboom occurred on Thursday in the Charhar Dara district of Kunduz and women and kiddies were among the dead.

The Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
in a statement to news outlets said 27 people were killed in the area on Thursday and front man Zabihullah Mujahid blamed the dead on US air strikes.

The US did carry out air strikes in the area "in support of Afghan-led ground operations," according to NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A collection of multinational and multilingual and multicultural armed forces, all of differing capabilities, working toward a common goal by pulling in different directions...
front man Lt. Colonel Martin O’Donnell.

"On-the-ground assessment of those strikes reveals no indications they caused civilian casualties," he said in an e-mail.

Britain
UK police claim poison attack suspects were Russian
[DAWN] British police believe they have identified the suspects who carried out the Novichok nerve agent attack on a former Moscow double agent and his daughter and that they are Russian, the Press Association news agency reported on Thursday.

"Investigators believe they have identified the suspected perpetrators of the Novichok attack through CCTV and have cross-checked this with records of people who entered the country around that time," a source with knowledge of the investigation told PA.

"They [Sherlocks] are sure they [suspects] are Russian," the source added.

Scotland Yard police headquarters refused to comment on the report.

Ex-Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia collapsed in the southwestern English city of Salisbury on March 4 after being exposed to the nerve agent Novichok. Both have since recovered.

Britannia blamed Russia for the poisoning of Skripal, a former military intelligence colonel who was placed in durance vile
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
for betraying Russian agents to Britannia’s MI6 foreign intelligence service. He left Russia for Britannia in a 2010 spy swap.

Rao Anwar granted bail in case concerning fake FIR against Naqeebullah Mehsud
[DAWN] An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
granted bail to former Malir SSP Rao Anwar on Friday in the case against him for filing a fake first information report (FIR) against Naqeebullah Mehsud.

This is the second case in which Anwar was granted bail. Earlier, on July 10, the tainted cop had been granted bail in the case concerning the extrajudicial killing of Wazoo native Mehsud and three others in Karachi.

Anwar had filed an FIR against Mehsud and three others ‐ all killed in a staged encounter ‐ for possession of explosives and illegal weapons. A joint investigation team (JIT) had later found that the four had been falsely implicated, with the court later ruling that Mehsud had no holy warrior tendencies.

Two FIRs were then filed against Anwar ‐ one by the police and other by Mehsud's father ‐ for falsely implicating Mehsud.

The court today ordered Anwar to be released on bail, asking him to submit a surety bond worth Rs1 million.

Salahuddin Panhwar, the counsel for Mehsud's father, said that they had already informed the court that they will not be participating in the case's proceedings until the matter is pending in the Sindh High Court (SHC).

Mind your language, ECP tells three potty-mouthed pols
[DAWN] The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday issued notices to chief of his own faction of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam Maulana Fazlur Rehman, former National Assembly speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Pervez Khattak for using indecent language during their election campaigns.

In its notices, the ECP deplored abusive, insolent and derogatory language used against other leaders that has been aired and published by the electronic and print media, besides doing the rounds on social media.

Pointing out that this was a clear violation of the code of conduct issued by it, the ECP asked the three political leaders to desist from the tendency and summoned them to appear before the commission on July 21 (Saturday).

South Korea says North has shown 'clear commitment' to denuclearization
[PRESSTV] South Korea’s foreign minister says North Korea has shown a "clear commitment" to complete denuclearization amid attempts by the United States to pressure Pyongyang.

"They have made a clear commitment on complete denuclearization repeatedly, and of course very forcefully at the Singapore summit with [US] President [Donald] Trump, and we will hold them up to that commitment," Kang Kyung-Wha said Friday.

She made the remarks ahead of a meeting with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and members of the United Nations
...an idea whose time has gone...
Security Council in New York.

Diplomats said they expected Pompeo to urge the Council to maintain a firm stance toward Pyongyang and keep sanctions in place.

In June, President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Pudge Jong-un
...the overweight, pouty-looking hereditary potentate of North Korea. Pudge appears to believe in his own divinity, but has yet to produce any loaves and fishes, so his subjects remain malnourished...
held a historic summit in Singapore where the two agreed to "work toward denuclearization" of the Korean Peninsula.

After Pompeo’s third trip to North Korea earlier this month, Pyongyang complained of Pompeo’s "gangster-like" demands on rapid denuclearization.

UPDATE: First 50 families of farmers from South Africa may soon resettle in Russia
[RT] The first families of Boers, descendants of Dutch settlers in South Africa, could soon be moving to Russia to escape rising violence against farmers. Some 15,000 Boers want to leave South Africa and become farmers in Russia.

The Schlebusch family from South Africa’s Bloemfontein is going to be among first 50 Boer families to settle in Russia’s southwest. Like many other Boers, they are seeking political asylum in Russia. They say they are facing violent attacks and death threats at home stemming from government plans to expropriate their land.

Earlier this month, farmer Adi Schlebusch visited Russia’s farmbelt Stavropol Region. Schlebusch, whose grandfather was murdered at his farm, told RT that the land in South Africa “was never taken by whites from blacks with violence or in an unjust manner.” He explained that when Boers moved to South Africa in the 19th century, they tried to act in a way that was fair, to negotiate officially and to avoid conflict.

Abid Boxer granted interim bail, vows to 'blow the lid off secrets'
[DAWN] Infamous former police inspector Abid Hussain, aka Abid Boxer, who has been named in several cases of murder, attempted murder and land-grabbing in Punjab, was on Friday granted bail by a sessions court in Lahore, DawnNewsTV reported.

After the Lahore High Court was informed on Monday that Boxer had been extradited to Pakistain from UAE in February, the accused, accompanied by his attorney, showed up in the court of Additional Sessions Judge Rehmat Ali.

Boxer's lawyer claimed that the cases against his client are "baseless" and that Boxer has been targeted as part of a "vindictive" campaign. He requested that the court grant Boxer interim bail ‐ a request the court agreed to.

The court granted Boxer bail till August 4 and ordered him to submit Rs100,000 as surety for each of the 10 cases against him. Following the grant of bail, the court directed the police not to arrest the accused.

Later on, Boxer, who seemed in good spirits, told media that he would "blow the lid off many secrets".

"Each of these three countries has state-sponsored forced labour, where their government puts its own people to work for its own benefit," said Fiona David, research chair of Minderoo Foundation, which led the data collection.

More than 40 million people were enslaved around the world as of 2016, according to an estimate by the WFF and the International Labour Organisation.

India was home to the largest total number with an estimated 18.4m slaves among its population of 1.3 billion people, according to the WFF’s 2016 index.

China, Pakistain, Bangladesh and Uzbekistan rounded out the top five nations, accounting for about 58 per cent of people living in slavery globally, the WFF said at the time.

But North Korea had the highest percentage of its population enslaved, and that remains the case today.

"In North Korea, one in 10 people are in modern slavery with the clear majority forced to work by the state," according to the 2018 Global Slavery Index.

Catching pythons in the Everglades with snake hunter Donna Kalil (Video)
[Orlando Sentinel] "Python!" Donna Kalil, seated in a homemade tower atop her 1998 Ford Explorer, yelled the golden word after spotting a familiar black and brown pattern among the grassy brush of the Everglades.

The car stopped, and Kalil barreled towards the water’s edge with one goal in mind: catching the 10-foot Burmese python lying on the bank.

Kalil snatched the snake by the head, and its long, muscly body wrapped around her arm. It was Thursday night, and this was the third python Kalil had caught in two days.

Ahmadis not to take part in election
[DAWN] The Ahmadiya Community has dissociated itself from the upcoming general elections due to ’discriminatory treatment’.

In a press statement, a community front man said though the elections would be held under a joint electoral system, there was, however, a separate voters’ list for the Ahmadis.

"Currently there is one voters list that includes all religious groups, including Moslems, Hindus, Christians, Zoroastrians and Sikhs, whereas in the case of Ahmadis, a separate voters list is being prepared. This discriminatory treatment on the basis of religion is a deliberate attempt to disenfranchise the Ahmadis of Pakistain from the electoral process and denying them their right to vote."

He said such a behaviour went against the vision of the founding father of the country Muhammad Ali Jinnah and contravened both the Constitution and the very purpose of the joint electoral system.

"Therefore, in view of the prevailing circumstance, the Ahmadis of Pakistain will once again not be participating in the general elections."

Sweden Democrats: How will the far right perform in elections?
[Al Jazeera] Sweden's far-right party has gained support in the polls as it pushes an agenda focused on refugees and migrants colonists.

The Sweden Democrats polled at a record high 20 percent in May, according to an Ispos poll in daily Dagens Nyheter, placing their chances at becoming kingmakers in the September 9 elections within the realm of possibility.

While they have long been shunned by other political parties, analysts and observers worry that they are increasingly setting the parameters of public discourse in the country.

In addition to calling for a referendum on European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...

In its official platform, the party says its anti-migrant policies are driven by "love and confidence in our country".

"If we are the second biggest or biggest party in parliament and the other parties still believe we can be ignored, and pretend we don't exist, then we must flex our muscles," party leader Jimmie Akesson told Rooters in an interview.

Rebels handover more towns to ISIS in southwest Syria
[ALMASDARNEWS] The rebel forces have handed over more towns to the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) affiliate "Jaish Khaled bin Walid" in southwest Syria, a military source told al-Masdar News this evening.

According to the military source, the Free Syrian Army
... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund...
(FSA) handed over at least eight towns to Jaish Khaled bin Walid in the Yarmouk Basin region of southwest Daraa.

The source continued that the towns handed over to the Islamic State were the following: Bakar, al-Abdali, Jabiliyah, Maqraz, Maalqa, Majaheed, Dariyat, Abu Hajar, Mashiydah, Ayn Zabidah and Sad Jabiliyah.

All of these towns were handed over to Jaish Khaled bin Walid over the last 48 hours, the source added.

This move by the Free Syrian Army comes just days after they surrendered almost all of the northwestern countryside of Daraa to the Syrian Arab Army and their allies.

However,
nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits...
it was expected from the Free Syrian Army, as they have handed over several other towns to the Islamic State forces near the Yarmouk Basin region.

For the Syrian Arab Army, the large Jaish Khaled bin Walid pocket in the Yarmouk Basin region is their next military objective in southwest Syria.

Once this region is captured, the Syrian Army will be in full control of southwest Syria.

Senior Hamas member calls for ridding ‘Palestine of filth of the Jews'
[IsraelTimes] A senior member of the Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, terror group which governs the Gazoo Strip gave an address last week in which he called to rid "Paleostine of the filth of the Jews" and vowed it would happen by 2022.

In a video of the July 12 rally, aired on al-Jazeera and translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute, former Hamas interior minister Fathi Hammad said: "We are looking forward to two important things which are within sight."

The first was "the cleansing of Paleostine of the filth of the Jews, and their uprooting from it," which he promised would happen imminently. "Four years, my brothers... By 2022 we will be rid of them," he said.

The second goal Hammad called for was the establishment of an Islamic caliphate "once the nation has been healed of its cancer ‐ the Jews."

Speaking a day before an IDF officer was maimed when a grenade was hurled at him by Paleostinian assailants and a 15-year-old Paleostinian was killed during festivities at the Gazoo border fence, Hammad described the weekly "March of Return" protests against Israel as peaceful, but vowed violence.

"The fact that we participate in the peaceful March of Return does not mean that we have abandoned the military path of jihad," he said. "Our finger is on the trigger and our plants are operating and working day and night. Every day we invent something new, using all our strength, our nerves, our bones and our flesh. Every day we manufacture more military power."

He claimed that Israel was "terrified" of war with Paleostinian terror groups including Hamas’s Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades and "our brothers in other factions."

An inseparable pair: dog collapses and dies after army handler is killed
[Guardian] Colleagues said army dog handler Liam Tasker was inseparable from his spaniel, Theo, and so it was to the end. When Lance Corporal Tasker was shot dead in southern Afghanistan, his dog survived the shooting only to suffer a fatal heart attack when it returned to the British base at Camp Bastion.

Tasker, 26, was on patrol north of Nahr-e-Saraj in Helmand province on Tuesday with the spaniel, which was trained to search for arms and explosives, when they were caught in gunfire. He died from his injuries.

He was described as having a "natural empathy with dogs". His successful operations "undoubtedly saved many lives", the Ministry of Defence said. The army has about 400 dogs trained to sniff out explosives and weapons but the ministry declined to say how many were deployed in Afghanistan.

This Week in Guns, July 21st, 2018

Oathkeepers had planned a peaceful protest of California demo-Kommie Maxine Walters, but according to the LAPD their erstwhile interlocutors planned to bring bats and truncheons to the protest.

It proves their point, say the Oathkeepers, but it also means that people on the left are done talking.

So, this is how it ends.

Loads.

Rantburg's summary for arms and ammunition:

Pistol ammunition prices were mostly steady. Rifle ammunition prices were mostly steady.

Prices for used pistols were mixed. Prices for used rifles were mixed.

(July 21st, 2018) For the tenth week running, used AR-15 prices have averaged below $500.

Danny Ayalon: Palestinians have a culture of terror
[Al Jazeera] Israel's former deputy foreign minister has said the Hamas, one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbung millipede, movement is solely to blame for the recent bloodshed in the besieged Gazoo Strip, claiming that Paleostinians represent a "culture of terror" while absolving Israeli forces for the killings of more than 130 protesters, journalists and medics at the border.

Danny Ayalon told Al Jazeera's Mehdi Hasan that the killings by Israeli snipers of unarmed Paleostinians, including paramedic Razan al-Najjar and journalist Yasser Murtaja, were unfortunate but justified because "they came with harm intention".

"They [Hamas] are sending them to die. It's a culture of death," he said in an interview with Head to Head television programme to be aired on Al Jazeera at 20:00 GMT on Friday.

Since March, protesters in Gazoo have been gathering near the fence with Israel, calling for their right to return to the homes from which they or their families were expelled from in 1948. More than 13,000 have also been reported maimed by Israeli fire.

Turkish court rejects extradition of Australian ISIS member
"Thou shalt not allow a member of the Master Religion to be tried by unbelievers."
[Rudaw] A judge in southern The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
has rejected a request to extradite Australia's notorious Neil Prakash, a self-confessed ISIS member, just two months after Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said he was expected to be extradited to face trial on home soil "within months."

Judge Ismail Deniz at the Kilis court rejected the prosecutor's request to extradite Prakash in a court ruling Thursday night, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) reported on Friday.

Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop said that the government was disappointed in the court ruling but would consider appealing the decision later this year.

"We will also continue to follow the case related to Prakash's ISIS activities when the court reconvenes in September," Bishop said.

The Melbourne native has arrest warrants out in his home country for "membership of a terrorist organization", "advocating terrorism", "providing support to a terrorist organization" and "incursions into foreign countries with the intention of engaging in hostile activities."

Prakesh, 27, is believed to have traveled to Syria to fight with ISIS in 2013, where he was known as Abu Khaled al-Cambodi.

Senior Australian counter-terrorism officials stated he played a pivotal role in encouraging several terror plots in Australia as well as lone-wolf attack plans against the United States which landed him on a US "kill list."

He has also appeared in several ISIS propaganda videos and the FBI alleges he was plotting an attack on the Statue of Liberty in New York.

Prakesh was caught trying to cross the border into Turkey from Syria in October 2016 using false identity papers and has been held in a maximum-security jail in Gaziantep, southern Turkey since then.

Prime Minister Turnbull stated the Australian government was determined to keep Prakesh "behind bars" whether it be in Turkey or Australia.

"Our goal is to ensure that Neil Prakash is never able to practice his evil trade of terrorism ever again," Turnbull said.

The US intelligence community estimates that some 40,000 imported muscle have joined ISIS in Iraq and Syria since the krazed killer organization first declared its caliphate in 2014 in djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
However,
ars longa, vita brevis...
it still remains unclear just how many ISIS fighters, including foreigners, have been captured and are awaiting court trials.

SECDEF Mattis Says NATO Summit ‘One of the Most Productive' He Has Ever Attended
[Breitbart] Defense Secretary Jim Mattis told members of Congress in a private meeting this week that the recent NATO summit was "one of the most productive" he has ever attended.
The comment came during a breakfast on Wednesday with a group of Republican and Democrat members of Congress, according to sources familiar with the meeting.

Chief Pentagon spokesperson Dana White, when asked if that was in line with his thinking, responded, "Definitely."

The private comments contradict how the NATO summit has been broadly portrayed in the mainstream news media. Reports portrayed Trump as having accomplished little other than upsetting allies and weakening the military alliance.

"NATO is still reeling from the president’s blunt-force attack on the decades-old military alliance," Vanity Fair reported a day after it ended.

NBC News reported that Pentagon leadership had directed military leaders to do "damage control" just hours after Trump left Brussels, which Mattis immediately dismissed as "fiction."

At least 8 injured in bus attack in northern Germany
Filed under Moslem Colonists on the assumption the perp is named neither Fritz nor Helga.
[DAWN] At least eight people were maimed in an assault by a man wielding a knife on a bus in northern Germany, police and witnesses said on Friday.

The packed bus was heading in the direction of Travemuende, a popular beach close to the city of Luebeck, when a man pulled a weapon on passengers, local media Luebecker Nachrichten reported, quoting an unnamed witness.

The bus driver immediately stopped the vehicle, allowing passengers to escape, the daily said on its website.

"The passengers jumped out of the bus and were screaming. It was terrible. Then the injured were brought out. The perpetrator had a kitchen knife," a witness who lives close to the scene, Lothar H., told the daily.

A police car which happened to be close by was able to get to the scene quickly, allowing officers to detain the perpetrator, added the report.

Police quoted by national news agency DPA said there were no fatalities, and did not give a motive for the assault.

According to Luebecker Nachrichten, the attacker is an Iranian man in his mid-30s.

While neither the motive nor full identity of the perpetrator have been established, Germany has been on high alert after several deadly Islamist bad boy attacks.
Deutsche Welle adds:
Witnesses told the paper that when the assailant took out his weapon, the driver stopped the bus and was then struck by the suspect. The passengers then reportedly restrained him.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the suspect's motive, but police have said that "there is no evidence of political radicalization" and no reason to believe the attack had a "terrorist background."

Police clarified that the suspect is a 34-year-old German citizen who was born in Iran but had lived in Germany for a long time. As of Friday evening, he had not confessed to any wrongdoing. State prosecutors said they are working quickly to bring charges of attempted arson and grevious bodily harm.

Ethiopian parliament approves amnesty for political prisoners
[Al Jazeera] Ethiopia's parliament has passed an amnesty for thousands of political prisoners, thousands of whom have been freed in recent months.

Since assuming office in April, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has introduced a series of unprecedented reforms and has overseen the release of jailed dissidents.

Thousands of prisoners, including several senior opposition leaders accused of charges such as incitement to topple the government, have overall been pardoned since January - even before Abiy's election by the ruling Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) coalition.

Mali's challenging, high-stakes election
[Al Jazeera] Mali's election campaign is in full swing, with just 10 days left until voters head to the polls to pick their next president.

Incumbent President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita has been campaigning in the capital, Bamako, appealing to his supporters for a second term.

IBK, as he is widely known, was elected in a landslide majority five years ago on promises to restore peace, defeat gangs and improve the economy.

Critics, however, accuse him of failing to deliver on any of the pledges, as well as incompetence and lack of vision.

Keita will be up against 23 rivals for re-election in the July 29 polls.

DIG Goraya said that Hafeez originally belonged to Abbottabad
... A pleasant city located only 30 convenient miles from Islamabad. The city is noted for its nice weather and good schools. It is the site of Pakistain's military academy, which was within comfortable walking distance of the residence of the late Osama bin Laden....
but he had been living in a village of Thatta district of Sindh for many years.

Russian jets launch massive attack on ISIS as Syrian troops prepare to storm southwest Daraa
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Russian Aerospace Forces launched a massive attack over the southwestern countryside of the Daraa Governorate this morning.

According to a military report from the government stronghold of Izraa, the Russian Aerospace Forces launched more than 20 Arclight airstrikes over southwest Daraa, today, targeting the large pocket belonging to the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
affiliate "Jaish Khaled bin Walid" near the Jordanian border.

The report specified that the majority of the airstrikes targeted the ISIS-held towns of Jaleen, Adwan, and Tasil, which are close to the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) front-lines in the Daraa Governorate.

In addition to the Russian airstrikes, the Syrian Arab Army has unleashed a large number of surface-to-surface missiles on the Islamic State’s positions in the Yarmouk Basin region of Daraa.

This powerful attack comes as the Syrian Arab Army prepares to launch a major offensive to eliminate the Islamic State’s large pocket in the southwestern region of the Daraa Governorate.

However,
some men learn by reading. A few learn by observation. The rest have to pee on the electric fence for themselves...
unlike the other battles in the Daraa Governorate, the Islamic State will not be offered the opportunity to reconcile with the government.

The Syrian Army was able to sweep through much of the Daraa and al-Quneitra governorates in three weeks, thanks in large part to these reconciliation agreements.

ISIS may be given the option of being transported to the Badiya al-Sham region in eastern Syria; however, there is also the issue of the large number of displaced civilians living in the part of Daraa they control.

Due to the large number of displaced civilians near the Jordanian border, the Syrian Arab Army’s offensive to capture the Yarmouk Basin region may prove to be more difficult than originally planned.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Putin's False Equivalency
[NationalReview] We are in dangerous times. Amid the hysteria over the Russian summit, the Mueller collusion probe, nonstop unsupported allegations and rumors, the Strzok and Page testimonies, the ongoing congressional investigations into improper CIA and FBI behavior, and a completely unhinged media, there is a growing crisis of rising tensions between two superpowers that together possess a combined arsenal of 3,000 instantly deployable nuclear weapons and another 10,000 in storage. That latter existential fact apparently has been forgotten in all the recriminations. So it is time for all parties to deescalate and step back a bit.

Trump understandably wants to avoid progressive charges that he is obstructing Robert Mueller’s ostensible investigation of Russian collusion, and he also wants some sort of détente with Russia. Mueller has likely indicted Russians, timed on the eve of the summit, in part on the assumption that they would more or less not personally defend themselves and never appear on U.S. soil.

Add that all up, and Trump apparently has discussed with Putin an idea of allowing Mueller’s investigators to visit Russia to interview those they have indicted.

But in the quid pro quo world of big-power rivalry, Putin, of course, wants reciprocity ‐ the right also to interview American citizens or residents (among them a former U.S. ambassador to Russia) whom he believes have transgressed against Russia.

Trump needs to squash Putin’s ridiculous "parity" request immediately. Mueller would learn little or nothing from interviewing his targets on Russian soil ‐ and likely never imagined that he would or could.

On the other hand, given recent Russian attacks on critics abroad, Moscow’s interviewing any Russian antagonist anywhere is not necessarily a safe or sane enterprise. And being indicted under the laws of a constitutional republic is hardly synonymous with earning the suspicion of the Russian autocracy.

Most importantly, the idea that a former U.S. ambassador to Russia, Professor Michael McFaul ‐ long after the expiration of his government tenure ‐ would submit to Russian questioning is absurd. Of course, it would also undermine the entire sanctity of American ambassadorial service.

McFaul, a colleague at the Hoover Institution, who would probably disagree with most of my views, years ago was targeted as an enemy by Vladimir Putin and more recently has been sharply critical of the Trump administration. But, of course, he is a widely admired patriot, a scholar, and voices his candid views, like all of us, under the assumption of free speech and absolute protection under the Constitution. As an ambassador, he was also accorded diplomatic immunity as insurance that his implementation of then U.S. policy would not earn him retaliation from Moscow, both then or now. McFaul is wise enough not to voluntarily submit to be questioned by Russian operatives, and the U.S. government must never suggest that he should.

So, Putin’s offer, to the extent we know the details of it, will soon upon examination be seen as patently unhinged. In refusal, Trump has a good opportunity to remind the world why all American critics of the Putin government ‐ and especially of his own government as well ‐ are uniquely free and protected to voice any notion they wish.

#4  Ref #2: The lawyers will commence discovery, demanding all of Mueller's information regarding the case. Which almost certainly includes intelligence information we don't want them to have. Otherwise, how did he find out about what Russians are doing in Russia in a secret context?

None of which (the evidence) can be released to anyone, due to an 'ongoing investigation.' Conveniently, anything the Deep State desires has just become unreleasable evidence.

#5  I've been thinking about Mad Mike's beliefs and reasons for those beliefs.

Then I stack them on top of the knowledge that the Obola administration _gave the root password to the OPM database_ to a Chinese "corporation" and neither Mueller, nor Comey, nor the National Review, seemed to make all that great of a fuss over it.

Which makes me wonder what else they gave away and to whom. I already think the cork sucking iceholes gave gargantuan amounts of money to Iran that got forwarded to (gasp!) Russia, without much in the way of objection from any of those people.

Evacuation of rebels from Quneitra begins
[Al Jazeera] Rebels in the southwest province of Quneitra in Syria have started leaving the area after giving up their fight against government forces near the frontier with Israel, according to Syrian state media.

A convoy of buses on Friday mid-afternoon carried the first batch of rebels, their family members and assorted civilians to opposition-held territory in the north where they will live among more than one million others displaced by Syria's seven-year-long civil war.

The surrender in Quneitra, in line with a deal that was struck between rebels and pro-government forces, is a big victory for Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
The Scourge of Hama...
whose troops are close to reclaiming complete control of the country's south.

According to state media, the agreement "stipulates the departure to Idlib [province] of turbans who reject the settlements", and allow those who wish to remain to "settle" their status with the authorities, meaning accepting a return of state rule.

The state-controlled al-Ikhbariya TV station broadcast footage on Friday of fighters dressed in fatigues boarding buses in the village of Um Batina in Quneitra, which adjoins the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.

The pro-government Central Military Media outlet said there were 50 buses ready to transport rebels to the opposition-held Idlib province in northwest Syria.

A military news service run by Leb's Hezbollah, which is fighting in support of Damascus, said buses "carrying Lion of Islams" had left the city of al-Quneitra headed north.

The evacuation was also reported by Anadolu Agency correspondents, while a Rooters news agency witness at a vantage point on the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights saw a steady movement of people out of the village of al-Qahtaniya, near Quneitra. A stream of cycle of violences, heavily laden cars and flatbed trucks packed with men, women and kiddies departed the village.

Al-Ikhbariya said that a second convoy of buses was preparing to depart with another batch of Quneitra fighters.

Russian airbase in southwest Latakia comes under heavy attack
[ALMASDARNEWS] For the fourth time this month, the Russian Hmeimim Airbase has come under heavy attack from rebel drones.

According to a military source in Latakia, the jihadist rebels launched a drone attack on the northeastern perimeter of the Hmeimim Airbase in the southwestern countryside of the province.

In response to the drones entering their airspace, the Russian air defense deployed their missiles in a bid to foil the attack.

The military source said the drone attack was foiled by the Russian air defense after a brief confrontation this evening.

The source added that the Russian and Syrian air forces are likely preparing to launch a big attack on the Jisr al-Shughour District, following this latest provocation.

Earlier this month, the jihadist rebels in the Jisr al-Shughour District launched three drone attacks on the Hmeimim Airbase; however, all of their attempted strikes were foiled before they could do any damage to the installation.

This latest attack on the Hmeimim Airbase comes just hours after the rebel forces fully surrendered their areas in southwest Syria.

Indian woman allegedly raped by 40 men over four days
[DAWN] Indian police have tossed in the calaboose

the owner of a guesthouse and its manager after a woman alleged she was drugged and raped by some 40 men over four days, an official said Friday.

The incident is the latest in a string of sexual attack cases reported from across the country where nearly 110 rapes are reported every day, according to official figures.

In a complaint to the police, the 22-year-old woman said she was promised a job at the guesthouse in the northern state of Haryana by a person known to her.

But she was instead held captive, drugged and raped by various men over four days, senior police officer Rajendar Kumar Meena told AFP, citing the written complaint of the victim.

Three junior police officials "have been suspended for negligence and not informing senior officers about the sensitive matter", Meena added.

WhatsApp limits forwarding in India after mob lynchings
[DAWN] WhatsApp announced limits on Friday on the forwarding of messages by its 200 million Indian users in an effort to stop a spate of horrific lynchings and to assuage government threats of legal action in its biggest market.
... on the principle that it's better to be murdered by a mob of thirty than by a mob of 300.
More than 20 people have been butchered by crazed mobs in the past two months across India after being accused of child kidnapping and other crimes in viral messages circulated wildly on WhatsApp.

Late Thursday, India's government, scrambling to find a response, threatened to take WhatsApp to court, saying the "medium" for spreading malicious rumours "cannot evade responsibility and accountability".

"If (WhatsApp) remain mute spectators they are liable to be treated as abettors and thereafter face consequent legal action," the information technology ministry said.

The Facebook-owned firm responded on Friday with an announcement it will test limiting the ability to forward messages and cap at five the number of contacts or groups that messages can be forwarded to.

Russian tourist drugged, gang-raped in India
[DAWN] Indian police were holding six men on Thursday after a Russian tourist was allegedly drugged and gang-raped in a popular southern tourist town, officials said.

Media reports said the 21-year-old had bite marks on her face and arms when she was found naked and unconscious on the floor of her hostel room early on Monday.

"Six men have been detained over the rape and drugging of the woman," investigating officer Mangayar Karasi said.

The woman, who was travelling on her own, had arrived in the town of Tiruvannamalai in Tamil Nadu state, 190 kilometres from Chennai, on last Thursday.

Those in jug included the hostel manager and her tourist guide, who told police he found her on the floor hours after they had consensual sex, another investigator said.

She said the woman was being treated in hospital for a drug overdose and minor injuries, with efforts being made to record her statement. The medical report has confirmed sexual assault, the officer said.

Clashes erupt in Honduras amid protests against fuel price hike
[PRESSTV] Hondurans have clashed with police in the capital Tegucigalpa during a protest against rising fuel prices.

Public transport workers, taxi drivers and university students took part in the protest on Thursday. They denounced vehicle circulation fees.

The protest turned violent when police fired tear gas and water cannons at the demonstrators, who were throwing rocks at officers.

All units of public transport, buses, taxis and mototaxis, went on strike on Thursday, after transport managers and representatives of the Honduras Institute of Land Transport (Instituto Hondureno del Transporte Terrestre/IHTT) failed to come to an agreement over rising fuel prices.

Fuel now costs about $3.74 (€3.21) a gallon in Honduras.

"The increase in both fuel and [vehicle] circulation taxes. We cannot cope with all of this, all of this is a blow to our pockets," a taxi driver said.

Another taxi driver said, "They should support us because this is of interest not only to us, taxi drivers and bus drivers. Instead, it is of interest to everyone."

A retired worker said, "Fuel consumption is connected to the cost of food, the cost of living, and that is a necessity."

[IsraelTimes] Soldier maimed by sniper fire dies of his wounds; IDF releases information after his family is notified; two dozen Hamas targets hit by air force in ongoing response

Paleostinian snipers shot and killed an IDF soldier on the Gazoo border on Friday, the army said late Friday night, revealing details on the deadly incident that apparently sparked the night’s widespread Israeli strikes on Hamas, one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbung millipede, targets across Gazoo.

"Today, an IDF combat soldier was killed during operational activity near the southern Gazoo Strip. During the incident, a terrorist squad shot at IDF troops and the IDF soldier was severely injured. He later succumbed to his wounds," the army said.

Added, from Times of Israel: Israel fires tank shell at Hamas post after suspects infiltrate Gaza border. The IDF fired a tank shell at a Hamas post Saturday morning after several Palestinian suspects attempted to infiltrate the border into Israel in the northern Gaza Strip, the military said.

The suspects returned to the enclave, according to the army. There were no reports of Palestinian casualties.

Kimberly Guilfoyle Leaving Fox News for Pro-Trump America First PAC
[Breitbart] Fox News star Kimberly Guilfoyle is leaving the cable network to join the America First Action Super PAC that supports President Donald Trump for president.

A source close to Guilfoyle confirmed reports to Breitbart News.

Guilfoyle has worked for Fox News for 12 years and is a co-host of The Five.

"FOX News has parted ways with Kimberly Guilfoyle," a spokesperson for Fox News confirmed in a statement to Breitbart News.

Guilfoyle is currently dating Donald Trump Jr. after his wife Vanessa filed for divorce in March. In a recent interview on Breitbart News Daily, she praised Trump Jr. as "number one up-and-coming political figure on the right."

"I’ve seen him at these political rallies, and I went to Montana with him, and I’ve known him for over a decade and saw him at the convention speech," she said. "He commands the room. He’s a compelling political figure."
A rather sudden and unceremonious departure.

Missing activist Raza Khan returns home after 7 months
[DAWN] Social activist Raza Mahmood Khan, who had been missing for the past seven months, has returned home, DawnNewsTV reported on Friday citing police officials.

Raza, a convener of Aghaz-i-Dosti — a friendship initiative between the youth of India and Pakistan — was reportedly picked up by men in plain clothes from his Model Colony residence on December 2, 2017.

Activists belonging to various rights groups, along with friends and family, had since been agitating for Raza's release. They had condemned the ‘enforced disappearance’ of activists and attempts to silence and harass those speaking up for peace and human rights.

Mohammad Imran, SP Investigation Model Town, confirmed on Friday that Punjab police had recovered Raza 10 days ago. He, however, did not disclose further details about where Raza was found.

Raza is in good health, according to the police official, but is refraining from making a statement due to "security concerns".

Home Front: Culture Wars
Victor Davis Hanson: Deport the Deplorables?
[AmGreatness] Deport the Deplorables is a slogan of popular culture, found on bumper stickers, t-shirts, and internet postings. But now the mini-industry of deplorable/deportable sloganeering has made its way into more elite circles.

With just three words, the phrase "deport the deplorables" sends two popular messages: one, get rid of undesirable American citizens who voted for Donald Trump and who were properly written off in 2016 as deplorables by Hillary Clinton. And, two, by implication, don’t deport the illegal aliens who broke U.S. immigration law. Or put more succinctly, foreign nationals who crash our borders are innately superior people to citizens of the working- and middle-classes who voted for Trump.

A bipartisan disdain exists for the middle and working classes, whether periodically politically manifested as the old blue-dog Democrats, Perot voters, Reagan Democrats, Tea Party activists, or Trump supporters. On the Left, they were derided as the clingers of rural Pennsylvania whom Obama blamed for his 2008 primary loss to Hillary Clinton in that state and who never appreciated his genius: "And it’s not surprising, then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."

Just ask if you can park your Mercedes or your Porsche back there and come up on the loading dock and sit on the ammo bases and offer to "help" stringing the bullets into the little metal links. You can join in the conversation by being of use and sharing the work load. #5  Do they still have a place in the geography of Quantico called "Skid Row"? Back a few years ago it was where they had the "aggressor platoon" for the combat simulation training. Mostly men "just" back from Vietnam and they were sort of de-pressurizing from that and doing what they were familiar with for a time. You can see the sense of that.
Cross the railroad tracks and out on a spit of land swamp on three sides. You understand, that sort of thing. 4 murders in a year depressurizing. Good aggressor troops, let's be realistic.
Height of the Peace Movement, McGovern ? I forget. Marines tend not to be political much. But we knew how America felt about us and treated us. Your haircut gave you away when you tried for dates in DC sort of thing. My ploy was the Cosmetic Counter girls at the Dept. stores at the Malls and the Coffee shops on Connecticut Ave. up from Georgetown. A few Girls like men who look like men and some do. It was sometimes a way of sorting out your chances. that or take a squad of PLC's and drill them on the grass at Mary Washington College. That worked too. Dinner and dancing at the George Washington Inn and a tour in the Moonlight at the battle of Fredricksburg overlooking the river.
We had a McGovern favoring Captain who drove a Cadillac. We slipped a pillow case over his head one night and put him naked into an Ice Cream truck icebox parked at the airstrip. And then we stripped his Cadillac and left it up on blocks.
You can imagine how the average Marine feels about the Donk Party, Obama, and the California Left now that we are all grandfathers and have grown sons of our own. As aggressor troop it was 30 of us against 200 to 400 of the men we were "training".
They were going over to Viet Nam as soon as they graduated. We were just back from there. A good quarter of a million of us today. And maybe another 2 or 3 million of us with wounds we remember every day. Holding a new grandson and drinking my Coffee this morning.
The Left doesn't stand a chance as long as I and the USMCorps are still here. No one is going to Deport me, or my son, or my grandson.
My deplorables are still safe.

US, allies set to evacuate Syrian aid workers from southwest
[Rudaw] U.S. officials say the United States is finalizing plans to evacuate several hundred Syrian civil defense workers and their families from southwest Syria as Russian-backed government forces close in on the area.

Two officials familiar with the plans said Thursday that the U.S., Britannia and Canada are spearheading the evacuation that would transport members of the White Helmets group to transit camps in neighboring countries. From there, they will be sent to third countries, including Britannia, Germany, the Netherlands and possibly Canada, according to the officials who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to publicly discuss the matter.

The officials, and a member of the White Helmets who is due to be evacuated from Quneitra province, said the operation appears to be imminent as the Syrian army continues to gain ground in its latest offensive. The White Helmets, who have enjoyed backing from the U.S. and other Western nations for years, are likely to be targeted by Syrian forces as they retake control of the southwest, according to the officials.
