Europe
The worst thing about Trump's outbursts on Brexit and Nato
h/t Instapundit
It is appropriate that the 45th President of the United States has come to Britain this week on a working visit rather than the state visit that was originally intended by Theresa May. Donald Trump’s habit of expressing his frank and impolite thoughts through early morning tweets is undiplomatic and demeaning to his office.

It is hard to imagine another leader of a western democracy taking the opportunity to undermine a Prime Minister shortly before arriving in Britain, as Trump did this week by describing the country as being ’in turmoil’. He then appeared to take sides with Boris Johnson just after the former foreign secretary had resigned in protest at Mrs May’s attempt to unite the cabinet on a shared vision of Brexit.

Yet for all his bluster and offensiveness, Trump often has a point. Take, for example, what he tweeted on Tuesday, shortly before arriving at the Nato summit in Brussels: ’The European Union makes it impossible for our farmers and workers and companies to do business in Europe (US has a $151 billion trade deficit), and then they want us to happily defend them through Nato, and nicely pay for it. Just doesn’t work!’

IDF renews strikes in Gaza, Hamas rocket fire resumes
[Ynet] The Israel Air Force renewed its bombardment of the Gaza Strip on Saturday afternoon, attacking over 40 targets and prompting rocket and mortar fire from the strip in retaliation.

The Palestinians reported several strikes across the Gaza Strip, including extensive strikes in the northern part of the strip, a series of strikes in Gaza City, a strike on Hamas's military wing in the centeral part of the strip, a strike in the Rafah area near the Egyptian border, and a strike in the Zeitoun district east of Gaza City.
The summer Gaza war we all been waiting for.

Why Baltimore Police Have 'Stopped Noticing Crime'
h/t Instapundit
An interesting news story ran in Thursday’s USA Today. "Baltimore police stopped noticing crime after Freddie Gray's death," read the headline. "A wave of killings followed."

What I found most interesting about it, though, was not the facts that were reported but rather that anyone should have found them surprising. "Just before a wave of violence turned Baltimore into the nation’s deadliest big city," the story begins, "a curious thing happened to its police force: officers suddenly seemed to stop noticing crime."
I'm sure the war on thought crime intensified.

ICE: Whittier CA Chainsaw Attacker Is Illegal Alien Who Has Been Deported 11 Times
Had to change the article's title. The attack was in Whittier, a LA suburb
[DailyCaller] A California man who allegedly attacked his wife with a chainsaw is an illegal alien who has been deported at least 11 times since 2005, immigration officials confirmed Friday.

Alejandro Alvarez Villegas, 32, was arrested Thursday in Chula Vista, California, a suburb of San Diego, on allegations that he tried to kill his wife with a chainsaw in front of their three children.

Alvarez has a long record of being deported and returning to the U.S., according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

"Department of Homeland Security databases indicate Mr. Alvarez-Villegas is a serial immigration violator who has been removed from the United States 11 times since 2005," an ICE spokesperson said, according to NBC7 News in San Diego.

The incident began Wednesday, when police in the Los Angeles suburb of Whittier responded to a domestic violence call and found Alvarez's wife inside their home with chest wounds caused by a chainsaw. The next day, Chula Vista police pulled over Alvarez in an SUV that had been reported stolen in Los Angeles.

Alvarez allegedly tried to ram a police car during the traffic stop, but officers were able to arrest him without any injuries, Chula Vista Police Lt. Kenny Heinz said, according to NBC7.

Immigration officials have lodged a retained for Alvarez with the Whittier jail, where he is being held on suspicion of attempted murder, child endangerment, hit and run, and grand theft auto, the Los Angeles Times reported. Alvarez's wife was transported to a local trauma center for surgery. She is expected to survive.

The couple's children, ages 10, 8 and 5, were not hurt and have been placed into protective custody.

Sean Hannity asks protesters in the UK what they don't like about Trump, and one is left completely stumped
[Mail] The pro-Trump Fox News host Sean Hannity on Friday interviewed a protester in London who could not name a single reason why he was denouncing the visiting American president.

’I’m here to protest Donald Trump,’ a man carrying an anti-Trump sign told Hannity in video footage obtained by DailyMail.com.

When Hannity asks the protester what it is specifically about Trump he dislikes, he responds: ’Everything. There’s absolutely nothing I like about him.’

’What specifically don’t you like about Trump?’ Hannity asks the protester.

Europe
France Revamps Anti-Terror Intelligence System
[Bloomberg] France is revamping its anti-terrorism organizations by creating a single operational team to oversee all of the country’s intelligence and prosecution to counter terror threats and plots on its soil, Prime Minister Edouard Philippe said.

"We must give new possibilities to our action," Philippe said in a press conference at the headquarters of France’s domestic intelligence service DGSI in Levallois-Perret near Paris. "The Islamist-inspired threat remains particularly high."

France’s investigative police, financial investigators, domestic intelligence, and prison service will all report daily to the unit that will be overseen and commanded by DGSI chiefs. The group will be up and running during the summer. The government is also creating a dedicated anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office and adding 1,900 agents by 2022, Philippe said.

French security forces have foiled 25 attacks since January 2017 but the government is particularly concerned by the release of 450 prisoners from French jails this year who have showed signs of radicalization, including 50 who have been sentenced for terrorism. A special team will oversee the prison exit of individuals who could pose a threat, Philippe said.

The prime minister’s office published 32 measures to fight terrorism, and Philippe added eight other measures that will remain behind-the-scenes. The measures include tighter surveillance of those under house arrest, greater coordination with the welfare system to track suspects, and expanding the role of military patrols beyond their current patrolling duties.

Lying NY Democratic Candidate Takes Pledge To Try To Lie Less… And Fails
[Hot Air] On Wednesday we talked about the candid camera video of NY-21 Democratic congressional candidate Tedra Cobb.

She was caught on film admitting that she wants to pass an "assault weapons" ban and other gun control measures, but she was advised by representatives of Moms Demand Action to not say it aloud because she couldn’t be elected if she did.

This led to a couple of local newspapers, including the Glens Falls Post-Star, trying to get both Cobb and incumbent Congresswoman Elise Stefanik to take a pledge not to lie to the public, to the press, on social media or anywhere else. But as you’ll see below, a closer examination of the video released earlier this week shows that Cobb’s promises probably aren’t worth much because she’s already considered doing precisely what she’s accused of.

CNN's Tapper: Gee, Obama Was Asleep At The Switch With This Russian Interference, Right?
[Townhall] The Department of Justice laid down the hammer today, right? They’ve indicted 12 Russian intelligence officers. Oh, we’re closing in on President Trump’s inner circle, right? Nope.

These twelve people will never be in a courtroom. The charges lobbed against them will never be fleshed out or argued before a judge. Once again, the DOJ reiterated that no American in these indictments committed a crime, or that any of these actions altered the vote counts during the 2016 elections. Was there interference? Yes.

I think that’s not up for debate, but was our 2016 election hacked (i.e. vote count totals being changed by infiltrating voting machines)? No, that never happened, though a lot of Democrats think so.

Dem Rep Who Said Strzok Deserved Purple Heart Apologizes After Wounded Vet Savages Him
[Daily Caller] Speaking on CNN Friday Democratic Congressman Steve Cohen apologized for saying disgraced Trump-hating FBI agent Peter Strzok deserved a "Purple Heart."

"I said something at the hearings yesterday about Purple Hearts, which another network named [after] a four-legged animal has made a big deal about," Cohen said, refering to Fox News, "I regret using the term "Purple Heart." I never thought Purple Heart should have been given to agent Strzok."

Cohen went on to say he respects the military.

Steve Cohen said to Strzok in the contentious Thursday hearing "If I could give you a Purple Heart, I would. You deserve one. This has been an attack on you and a way to attack Mr. Mueller and the investigation."

Purple Heart recipient Marine Staff Sgt. Johnny "Joey" Jones said on Fox News Friday that the comparison was "disgusting" and "disgraceful."

House Conservatives Move Forward with Plans to Impeach Rod Rosenstein
[Politico] House conservatives are preparing a new push to oust Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, according to three conservative Capitol Hill sources ‐ putting the finishing touches on an impeachment filing even as Rosenstein announced the indictment of 12 Russian intelligence officers for interfering in the 2016 election.

House Freedom Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows, in fact, had the impeachment document on the floor of the House at the very moment that Rosenstein spoke to reporters and TV cameras Friday.

Conservative GOP lawmakers have been plotting to remove Rosenstein for weeks, accusing him of slow-walking their probe of FBI agents they’ve accused of bias against President Donald Trump.

Democrats contend Republicans’ fixation on Rosenstein is really an effort to undermine special counsel Robert Mueller, who reports to Rosenstein and has been making inroads in his investigation of the Russian election interference plot. Mueller’s probe has entangled members of Trump’s inner circle and Trump has increasingly assailed it as a politically motivated "witch hunt" as it’s presented greater danger to him and his allies.

Conservative sources say they could file the impeachment document as soon as Monday, as Meadows and Freedom Caucus founder Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) look to build Republican support in the House. One source cautioned, however, that the timing was still fluid.

J.P. Morgan Chase Says ‘Trade War' Is Not Hurting Business
[Breitbart] J.P. Morgan Chase, the largest U.S. bank by assets, said Friday that trade disputes are not a drag on business investment or loan demand.

The bank reported better than expected quarterly earnings Friday morning, with profits growing by an eye-popping 18 percent to $8.32 billion. Revenue rose 6 percent to $28.4 billion.

In a conference call with reporters to discuss the bank’s results, top executives said that while there is lots of talk and worry about trade wars, there’s been "no significant impact" on lending.

Jamie Dimon, the bank’s chief executive, said that trade war talk was more about "psyche" than "economics."

"Look, it’s a worry," he said. "But hopefully it gets resolved."

Dimon said that there were genuine reasons for the U.S. to attempt to seek better terms of trade with China and other countries. Working with allies rather than imposing tariffs, however, would be a better tactic, Dimon said.

#1  What a lot of people are not talking about are the tariffs that the EU and China already impose on US manufactured goods.

Many of them are disguised as inspections, customs fees, transport fees, or storage fees.

China requires that all automobiles manufactured in the US under go inspection for compliance with Chinese "safety" laws. The inspections are on an individual automobile basis because the Chinese will not always accept manufacturer certification. Cars are partially disassembled, wiring tested, and tires x-rayed...even when many of the components tested are Chinese in origin.

They also conveniently charge customs fees of several hundred dollars on some items disguising them as administrative fees.

The Chinese shipping companies charge US companies hundred of dollars more to transport US goods to China than charged to ship similar to the US.

Japan did the same thing back in the 90's until Lightzer blew the whistle and got the WTO to cry foul on Japanese trade practices.

The fact that China is sucking trillions of dollars of US currency out of our economy and screwing our monetary policy is reason enough to clamp down on this stuff. If we don't, we'll eventually have hell to pay with inflation and interest rates as our currency supply is further depleted.

China has artificially down graded the Yuan to give them a favorable pricing compared to US dollars and are constantly having to tinker with interest rates and inflation to keep that shell game going (the Japanese also played games with the exchange rate for Yen against the dollar back in the 80's)

So all in all, Trump and his economic counsel is asking for China to level the playing field and compete on the same terms as everyone else.

A Border Police officer was lightly maimed on Friday when Paleostinians threw an bomb at the force during a West Bank riot, police said.

The incident occurred as Paleostinian protesters burned tires, threw rocks, shot fireworks and tossed at least one bomb at the officers during a violent riot in the West Bank town of Abu Dis, just outside Jerusalem.

The officer was taken to the Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem in Jerusalem with an injury to his hand, police said.

"The remains of the device were collected by the officers for further investigation in order to identify the terrorist behind the attack and to help arrest him," police said.

Following Friday prayers there were festivities in several places across the West Bank, with Paleostinian throwing rocks at the Israeli troops, who responded with tear gas and rubber bullets.

Calls for Tory MP to resign over ‘vile racist' and ‘Islamophobic' image of pig mounting Sadiq Khan
[RT] Conservative MP Michael Fabricant is facing calls for his resignation after he posted what has been called a “racist” and “Islamophobic” image on Twitter of a pig mounting London Mayor Sadiq Khan.

The now-deleted tweet from Fabricant depicted an image of Khan as a blimp being mounted by a pig. It features US President Donald Trump laughing in the foreground with the accompanying words: “Well, what can I say?”
It looked like a cut and paste from images of Pink Floyd flying pigs. So do the authors consider Pink Floyd vile and racists?

Nawaz Sharif, daughter arrested upon arrival in Lahore
[PRESSTV] Pakistain's ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf, then by the courts...

Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
upon arrival in the country ahead of the July 25 elections.

Uniformed men escorted the duo from the airplane after it touched down in the central city of Lahore at around 8:45 p.m. local time (1645 GMT) on Friday evening.

A front man for Sharif's Pakistain Moslem League-Nawaz (PML-N) party confirmed they were detained soon afterward.

Local media reports said Sharif and his daughter were put on board another waiting aircraft to be flown out of Lahore.

A series of festivities broke out at the main highway entry point to Lahore between pro-Sharif protesters and police who had been deployed in their thousand.

Sharif's brother, Shehbaz, led around 10,000 party supporters during a march on the city center in defiance of a citywide ban on public gatherings.

Mobile phone service had been cut off in mid-afternoon across Lahore and surrounding areas.

The country's media regulator in a statement told local news channels to abstain from airing statements "by politicianship containing defamatory and derogatory content targeting various state institutions specifically judiciary and armed forces."

The former premier decried the tactics ordered by the caretaker government that took over in June.

"What credibility will these elections have when the government is taking such a drastic action against our people and this crackdown is taking place all over the country?" Sharif said at the airport in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates, as he waited for a connecting flight to Lahore.

Pakistain's major political movement, the Pakistain Peoples Party, also censured the crackdown, with its prime ministerial candidate Bilawal Baby Bhutto Zardari
...Pak dynastic politician, son of Benazir Bhutto and grandon of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. As far as is known, Bilawal has no particular talents other than being pretty and being able to memorize political slogans, but he had the good luck to be born into the right family and he hasn't been assassinated yet...
questioning why Sharif's supporters would be prevented from gatherings.

12 BIFF militants slain in Maguindanao clashes
[Xinhua] Twelve Islamist militants were killed in clashes with Philippine security forces, bringing the death toll of Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters to 57 in the ongoing offensive that started on June 1.

The military said on Tuesday that eight were killed during a clash on Sunday in the villages of Shariff Saydona Mustapha town in Maguindanao province in the central Mindanao. Four others were killed on the same day in a separate clash in another part of town.

On Sunday, military spokesman Cirilito Sobejana said there are up to 400 BIFF rebels operating in central Mindanao.

BIFF members are mostly disgruntled former militants from the larger Moro Islamic Liberation Front which signed a peace accord with the government. The BIFF is among the armed groups in Mindanao that pledged allegiance to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria a few years ago.

Two commies face trial after intel about plot to oust Duterte
[SunStar] Authorities turned over to the trial court in Bukidnon province two alleged high-ranking members of the New People's Army who were arrested last week. Maria Limbaga Unabia, alias Del, and Francis Madria, alias Kiang, are facing charges of murder, frustrated murder and attempted murder.

Unabia, who is from Koronadal, South Cotabato; and Madria, who is from Malaybalay City in Bukidnon, were arrested in Barangay Lagao, General Santos City on July 4.

Eastmincom spokesperson Ezra Balagtey said the militants were arrested after an intelligence report stating that communist guerillas would converge in General Santos City to assess and plot the ouster of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Aside from the accused, Balagtey said 11 persons were also arrested and were charged with violation of Presidential Decree 1829 or Obstruction of Justice after they tried to prevent authorities from arresting the two wanted rebels

Balagtey said the 11 people were granted temporary liberty by a judge after Bayan Muna Representative Carlos Zarate and Ali Macalintal of rights group Karapatan posted bail on their behalf. He said, "The Philippine National Police, assisted by the Armed Forces of the Philippines legal team, is on the process of applying for issuance of search warrant to allow a forensic test on the electronic gadgets confiscated from the 11 persons."

Eastmincom commander Benjamin Madrigal earlier directed units to intensify security operations, in light of plans for a revolutionary movement to oust President Duterte.

Israel gives Merkava tank to Jordan as 'gift'
[PRESSTV] As an apparent goodwill gesture, Israel has offered one of its self-prized Merkava tanks as a present to a Jordanian museum.

The tank was transferred to Jordan in recent weeks aboard a flatbed truck, The Jerusalem Post reported on Thursday. It will be put on show at the Royal Tank Museum.

The paper billed the offering as "a sign of growing defense and diplomatic ties."

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Minister of Military Affairs Avigdor Lieberman had to sign off on the decision since it meant trusting Amman with a "most top-secret" weapon, it said.

The daily hailed the Merkava as one of "the most lethal and protected tanks in the world".

Five of the tanks were, however, destroyed during Israel’s war on Leb in 2006 during confrontations with the resistance movement of Hezbollah, which broke the myth of invincibility built around the vehicle.

Aside from Egypt, Jordan is one of the only two Arab governments that have open diplomatic ties with Israel.

The Israeli embassy in Amman shut down last July after two Jordanians were bumped off by the embassy guard, prompting the return to Israel of the Israeli ambassador along with the guard involved in the shooting.

Why the Army picked Austin, TX for Futures Command
[Defense News] WASHINGTON ‐ After whittling down a list of more than 150 cities to five, the U.S. Army has decided on Austin, Texas, for its new four-star command designed to tackle modernization priorities that will help it fight the next wars.

Questions on the distance from the Pentagon and other major four-star commands have cropped up overnight as well as whether or not the Army will struggle to fit in and be accepted by hip, anti-establishment entrepreneurs with whom it hopes to collaborate to gain a vast technological edge against peer adversaries.

The Army Futures Command was stood up in October at the Association of the U.S. Army’s annual conference in Washington. The plan is to realign the Army’s modernization priorities under a new organization that will implement cross-functional teams that correspond with the service’s top six modernization efforts: Long-Range Precision Fires, Next-Generation Combat Vehicle, Future Vertical Lift, the network, air and missile defense, and soldier lethality.

Israel fires Patriot missile at drone coming from Syria
[Ynet] For the second time this week, IDF fires Patriot missile to intercept UAV approaching Israeli border from Syria; witness on Syrian side of border says drone crashed.

Israel fired a Patriot missile on Friday afternoon at a UAV approaching its border from Syria, the second such an incident this week.

The Patriot was launched from Safed at around 3pm, according to residents, and a witness on the Syrian side of the frontier said the drone had been brought down.

"A Patriot missile of the IDF's (Israel Defense Forces) aerial defense system was launched towards a Syrian UAV flying over the demilitarized zone. The UAV was most likely intercepted," the military said in a statement.

The army said the drone was intercepted over the buffer zone between the two countries.

The IDF said it will "operate against attempts to violate the 1974 Separation of Forces Agreement, threats to Israeli illusory sovereignty and any attempt to harm Israeli civilians."

On Wednesday, a Patriot missile was fired at a Syrian drone that infiltrated 10 kilometers into Israel, prompting a rocket-alert siren to go off in several communities in the Golan Heights. The IDF intercepted the drone over the Kinneret.

Norway boosts support for clearance of mines in Iraq, Syria
[Rudaw] Norway increased its contribution from just over $13.5 million in 2017 to nearly $19 million in 2018 for the clearance of mines and explosives in Iraq and Syria.

"Mine clearance is crucial to prevent the loss of civilian lives, to ensure access for emergency aid, and to enable hundreds of thousands of internally displaced people to return safely to their homes," the Norwegian Foreign Minister, Ine Eriksen Soreide, said in a blurb by the government on Thursday.

"This is why we are now increasing our support for mine clearance in Iraq and Syria," she added.

The most heavily affected areas are djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
city in Iraq and Raqqa in Syria, two ISIS strongholds since the terror group rose to power in 2014.

Mosul city was liberated from ISIS a year ago in July 2017. Three years of ISIS control over Mosul and military operations to liberate the city left key infrastructure in ruins, posing the largest rebuilding and stabilization challenges in recent history.

The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced the "total liberation" of Raqqa on October 20 of last year. ISIS had referred to the city as its capital.

According to UN figures, a high number of mines and other unwent kaboom! devices remain in the two cities, with some 50 to 70 civilians being killed in Raqqa alone each week.

"The human suffering caused by these explosives must be brought to an end. The situation in Raqqa and Mosul is particularly serious," Soreide said. "A substantial share of Norway's support for mine clearance is being channeled to these two cities."

At its height, about 10 million people were living under ISIS rule, according to the US-led Coalition, when the group controlled Iraq's second-largest city of Mosul, Syria's Raqqa, and many other areas.

Britain
Police have finally found a bottle containing the nerve agent that killed a British woman
[Business Insider] British police say they have finally found the source of the deadly nerve agent that killed a woman and left her partner fighting for his life in Amesbury, England: A bottle.

Earlier this month Dawn Sturgess and Charlie Rowley were hospitalised after falling ill in Amesbury, and investigators determined they had been exposed to Novichok, a Russian-made poison. Sturgess, 44, died in hospital on Sunday, and police have opened a murder investigation. Rowley has since regained consciousness.

The incident came months after the poisoning of former Russian agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in Salisbury, also with Novichok, prompting fears that Sturgess and Rowley had been exposed to some of the left-over poison.

The Metropolitan Police found a "small bottle" at Rowley's house on Wednesday. Following tests, "scientists have now confirmed to us that the substance contained within the bottle is Novichok," it announced on Friday.

Turkey to sell 30 ATAK helicopters to Pakistan in major military export deal
[PRESSTV] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire....
and Pakistain have finalized a deal for the sale of 30 multi-role and all-weather TAI/AgustaWestland T129 ATAK attack helicopters in an agreement that has been billed as one of Ankara’s largest single defense industry exports.

"Contract negotiations on T129 ATAK helicopters between Ottoman Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) and the Pak Ministry of Defense Production were finalized," Turkey’s official Anadolu news agency cited the Ottoman Turkish Defense Industries Undersecretariat (SSB) as saying on Friday.

Military sources, requesting anonymity, said the helicopters will be delivered gradually over five years, and that the TAI has also agreed to provide logistics, spare parts, training, and ammunition services.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Anadolu in November 2017, former Pak Minister for Defense Production and Minister for Science and Technology Rana Tanveer Hussain said his country planned to procure 30 attack helicopters and four naval ships from Turkey.

On July 5, Ottoman Turkish Defense Minister Nurettin Canikli said Ankara had won a tender to build four corvettes for the Pakistain Navy, describing the deal as "the largest defense export of Turkey in one agreement."

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Peter Strzok Reveals Bruce Ohr, Husband to Fusion GPS Operative, Gave Documents to FBI
[Breitbart] FBI agent Peter Strzok revealed Thursday during his testimony before the House Oversight and Judiciary Committees that he had communicated with Bruce Ohr and that Ohr gave "documents and material" to the FBI, which Republican lawmakers believe is linked to the FBI acquiring the infamous "pee dossier" by ex-British spy Christopher Steele.

Ohr worked as associate deputy attorney general during the Obama administration’s final year. He was demoted by the Justice Department (DOJ) ‐ but not fired ‐ following revelations of his meetings with Glenn Simpson, co-founder of Fusion GPS.

Fusion GPS describes itself as a firm providing "strategic intelligence." The company was hired by the Hillary Clinton campaign to produce opposition research on then-presidential candidate Donald Trump.

Ohr’s wife, Nellie Ohr, worked for Fusion GPS in 2016.

The "Steele dossier" ‐ composed in 2016 by former British Intelligence officer Christopher Steele as a compilation of accusations against Trump and commissioned by the Clinton campaign via Fusion GPS ‐ was used as a basis by the DOJ and FBI procure warrants for surveillance of Trump campaign persons via the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA).

Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) described the potential provision of the "Steele dossier" to the Obama administration’s DOJ and FBI via the Ohrs as politically incestuous.

Afghanistan
Taliban attacks on Afghan forces leave 40 dead
[DAWN] Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
attacks on Afghan cops in the country’s north have caused "heavy casualties", officials said on Thursday, putting the number of soldiers killed as high as 40 in ongoing fighting.

Militants using night-vision goggles launched simultaneous raids on several Afghan military bases and posts in Dashte Archi district in Kunduz province overnight, defence ministry front man Mohammad Radmanish and other Afghan security sources said.

"We have suffered casualties, the Taliban have also suffered casualties," Radmanish said.

Between 10 and 15 Afghan soldiers had been killed so far, and about the same number maimed, he added.

But an Afghan security source said that the corpse count among security forces was "more than 40", and another confirmed that 39 had been killed and 10 maimed.

A separate security source said there had been "heavy casualties" among the soldiers.

An air and ground operation against the Taliban was under way, Radmanish said.

But on Thursday afternoon an army base on the border between Kunduz and Takhar provinces, where 29 security forces had been killed and 17 others maimed, was still under Taliban control, Takhar governor front man Sunatullah Timor said.

"No reinforcements have come to the area yet," he said.

The Taliban grabbed credit on Twitter for the attacks, confirming their fighters had captured an army base as well as 11 posts, and killed 65 soldiers and "many local police".

The night-vision goggles used in the latest attacks helped the Taliban fighters execute their pre-dawn raid, a senior Afghan commander said. He said the attacks were carried out by the group’s elite Red Unit.

"Since we don’t have the night-vision (goggles), the Taliban can get close to soldiers without them noticing," he said.

Taliban have stolen armoured Humvees, weapons and other equipment ‐ including night-vision goggles ‐ in previous raids on Afghan cops, helping them to carry out devastating attacks.

Mohammad Hanif Rezayee, a front man for the 209 Shaheen Army Corps in the north, said two military posts had fallen to the Taliban, but security forces had managed to beat back an attack on a base.

A number of the commanders of the Taliban group are also among those killed or maimed, the provincial government said, adding that the snuffies have taken positions inside the residential houses after fresh troops were deployed in response to the attack.

Several weapons, munitions, and vehicles have also been destroyed during the operations, the provincial government said, adding that the snuffies still resist the security forces by using civlians as human shields in their houses.

Poll shows most Arabs see US, Israel as 'biggest threat'
Possibly because ISIS has pretty much been destroyed, while Iran has not yet fired off any nukes.
[PRESSTV] A new opinion poll has found that a majority of Arabs consider Israel and the US as the biggest threat to regional stability despite efforts by their rulers to portray Iran as a risk.

The poll, conducted by the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies in Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
, showed that above 75 percent of Arabs consider Israel and the US as the top two threats to their national security.

It also held that the Paleostinian cause was an Arab one, dealing a blow to efforts by some Arab leaders to relegate the issue to a standoff between the Paleostinians and Israelis.

Persian Gulf countries like Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, the UAE and Bahrain have recently begun to court Israel more overtly as they have tried to whip up a surge of animosity towards Iran.

The survey, however, showed that an overwhelming majority of respondents - 87 percent - disapproved of their home countries' recognizing Israel. Ninety percent called Israel a source of instability in the region.

Asked to elaborate, many cited "Israel's mistreatment of Paleostinians and its colonial policies," the Middle East Eye (MEE) news portal reported, citing the poll’s results.

SDF launch operation targeting ISIS in Deir ez-Zor’s Hajin
[Rudaw] Kurdish-led forces have begun operations against one of the last remaining ISIS-held strongholds on the east side of the Euphrates River in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor province.

"The final #DefeatISIS is near," tweeted Kino Gabriel, spokesperson for the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), announcing the commencement of operations against ISIS in the town of Hajin on Friday.

The offensive, part of Operation Roundup, is backed by the US-led coalition.

Late Thursday night, 28 civilians and 26 ISIS snuffies were killed in Arclight airstrikes on an ice factory near the village of al-Soussa, some 25km southeast of Hajin, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported.

The conflict monitor could not confirm if it was Iraqi or coalition jets that carried out the strike. The coalition admitted it may have been responsible and told Rudaw they are investigating the incident.
But Iran PressTV is certain it’s the Americans, for what that’s worth.
In addition to battling ISIS along the Euphrates River in the Hajin area, the SDF is also confronting the terror group along the Iraq-Syria border where they took control of Dashisha in mid-June.

Teen Age Girl Victim of Moslem Rape Gang in Britain tells her story
[Mirror] A brave woman has revealed how she was brutally raped and abused by more than 70 men - but most are still walking the streets today.
[the woman may be brave but the Mirror isn't brave enough to use the world 'moslem' in their story ]
Kate Elysia, who was 18 when she was first raped, says she believed she was an inhuman "sex thing" after being repeatedly attacked.

A victim of grooming gangs, she says she was trafficked "all over England" and given to many men - sometimes up to 10 in one night.

"They degraded me to the point where I'd become this sex thing, this thing that wasn't human, but just an object," she says in a harrowing new book, titled No Way Out.

"To the point where I believed that's what I was."

Eventually, the horrific sexual abuse seemed like "normal life" to Kate.

She ended up addicted to drugs and suffering from severe Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Birmingham Live reports.

A Look Into the Mind of the American Left: Part I
[Daily Signal] As I watch a great number of my fellow Americans and virtually all of the mainstream media descend further and further into irrational and immoral hysteria‐regularly calling the president of the United States and all of his supporters Nazis, white supremacists, and the like; harassing Republicans where they eat, shop, and live; ending family ties and lifelong friendships with people who support the president; declaring their opposition to President Donald Trump and the Republican Party the "Resistance," as if they were American reincarnations of the French who fought real Nazis in World War II; and so on‐I ask myself: What is going on? How does one explain them?

Iran Has No Intention to Leave Syria, Top Official Says
[AnNahar] Iran has no intention of leaving Syria regardless of U.S. and Israeli pressure, a senior envoy to Iran's leader said Friday, reaffirming a tough stance on the issue expected to top the agenda of the upcoming U.S.-Russian summit.

The statement from Ali Akbar Velayati, a senior adviser to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, came in the wake of his meeting in Moscow with Russian President Vladimir Putin
...President-for-Life of Russia. He gets along well with other presidents for life. He is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substance. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to him. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substances...
. A day earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Putin that Israel wants Iran to leave Syria.

The high-level talks precede Monday's summit in Helsinki between Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
, who are set to discuss the Iranian presence in Syria.

Both the U.S. and Israel want Iran to pull out of Syria, while Russia has warned it would be unrealistic to expect Iran to fully withdraw from the country.

A possible deal could see Syrian troops replacing Iranian forces and Hizbullah
...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory...
fighters in the areas near the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.

Velayati reaffirmed Iran's firm intention to maintain its presence in Syria, but skirted a question about a possible pullback from the border, saying only that Tehran won't bow to U.S. and Israeli coercion.

"We coordinate the Iranian presence in Syria with Russia and Syria," Velayati said during a meeting at Moscow's Valdai Club discussion platform. "We will be present there the way we consider necessary. Sometimes we will play our role in Syria open-handed, sometimes we will do it with our hands hidden."

While Velayati maintained a combative tone, his careful response reflected the intense diplomatic maneuvering ahead of the Helsinki summit.

He expressed skepticism about the outcome of the meeting, repeating tough criticism of the U.S. and saying he didn't expect Trump to make any positive contribution to stabilizing the Middle East.

Velayati argued that Iran along with Russia helped stem fighting in Syria and prevented the country from falling to the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group and other bully boys, scoffing at the U.S. demands to leave.

"We have come there without the Americans' permission and we won't heed their demands to leave," he said.

Velayati also strongly warned Russia against listening to the U.S. arguments about the Iranian presence in Syria.

"I told the Russian officials: Now the Americans are telling you that the Iranians must leave Syria and tomorrow they will ask you what you are doing in Syria," he said. "They are trying to split our alliance."

Suicide Blast Kills 128 as Pakistan Pre-Vote Violence Escalates
[Bloomberg] A suicide bomber killed at least 128 people on Friday in the worst attack in Pakistan since a 2014 school massacre as the country witnesses a spate of violence ahead of a tense July 25 national election.

More than 120 others were also injured after at an election rally in northwestern Mastung in the restive province of Balochistan, regional officials told Bloomberg News. Interim Balochistan Home Minister Agha Umer Bangalzai confirmed the casualty figures in a post on Twitter. "Suicide bomber loaded with 8 Kg explosives material caused this much devastation," he said.

This is the third major attack to take place that has targeted politicians in the South Asian nation this week. Balochistan Awami Party leader Siraj Raisani was killed in the Mastung blast, while Haroon Bilour, a key leader of the Awami National Party, was murdered in a suicide bombing in the northwestern city of Peshawar. Akram Khan Durrani of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal escaped a blast in northern Bannu on Friday.

Beset by widespread violence in previous election campaigns, up until this week Pakistan had been spared from major attacks ahead of the ballot. The armed forces have beefed up security in recent years and Friday’s bombing was the worst in the country since the Pakistani Taliban killed 148 people at an army-run school in the northern city of Peshawar in December 2014.
An Nahar adds:
The blast -- which was claimed by the Islamic State group -- ripped through the crowd in the town of Mastung near the Balochistan provincial capital Quetta.

, Qadri said he had defended heinous act of killings at Model Town and created hurdles in the way of justice.

In a telephonic address to Central Core Committee of the party, he said on June 23, 2014, his plane was diverted to Lahore, instead of Islamabad. The entire province was sealed with containers on his arrival, thousands of PAT workers were detained and jails of Punjab

"Now the PML-N says it believes in peace and its workers should not be detained. I had not violated any law, even then my workers were not allowed to reach the airport to receive me," he said.

"Despite 14 killings, hundreds of injured workers, and burden of dozens of fake cases of terrorism, none from the PAT leaders has ever said anything negative against dignity of state institutions. They are still begging for justice. Nawaz is a national culprit and he has become a liability, jail is a permanent abode for him to pass rest of his life. The PML-N is not a political, democratic party but just a group of plunderers who has somehow acquired wealth, mostly through illegal means. Once the "Russian" hacking was discovered, perhaps the Clinton Campaign provided a useful conduit for selected streams of disinformation. Of course 'homebrew' systems and providers (Platte River Networks for example) would be utilized for more senior level communications.

Susan Rice could assist with 'standing down' of any investigations which might lead to an untimely discovery. She did fine work with the Sunday Networks.

Once this business is over, they'll obviously need to drop a few indictments of.... real Russian hackers. Timing in this phase is quite important. Just prior to an administration trip to Russia would be ideal.

#13  IMHO Rosenstein indicted these 12 Russians to try put a speed bump in the road of any serious investigation. These 12, like the first 13, will not be likely to show up in any U.S. court. Mueller saves face and can say "it really was the Russians" but we can't do anything about it. Rosenstein said no Americans were involved and the Russian meddling had no impact on the elections.

What if Russian attorneys do show up in court asking for all indictment and investigative info? How does Seth Rich fit into the DNC "hacks"? The Awans were already tied into House Dem and most likely DNC computers. Seems like Dems/deep staters are starting to sweat a bit. Timing was curious.

[Times of Israel] A Miami Beach man was arrested for planning to burn down his condo building after receiving an eviction notice, reportedly telling a neighbor that one of his aims was to "kill all the Jews."

Acting on a tip, police on Thursday arrested Walter Stolper, 72, as he was wheeling two plastic containers filled with gas through the garage of the condo building on Collins Avenue. They found another eight plastic containers filled with gas in a dumpster.

Stolper told police he was planning a "small barbecue," Local 10 News, an ABC affiliate, reported.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
One killed, many injured in Kazeroon city, as Iranians protest water scarcity
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Clashes erupted between farmers and local police during a protest over water scarcity in Kamarej village, close to Kazeroon city in Iran’s Fars province south of the Islamic Theocratic Republic on Thursday.

A social affairs aide in the local police said one person was killed and many others were maimed when the police fired in the air in an attempt to disperse the angry crowds.

The source added that among the injured were a number of police members.

Iran state news agency IRNA said the festivities began after authorities removed illegal water-pumps from a river.

Protests have been held across southern Iran in recent weeks over water scarcity and on May 16 Kazeroon city witnessed angry protests where anti-regime slogans were raised during attempts to merge part of the province to another administrative zone in the country and during which four people were killed and many injured.

Much of the country is suffering from drought, and in some areas tap water has turned muddy or salty.

The water shortage has compounded Iran’s economic woes after the US withdrew from the 2015 nuclear accord.

Earlier, cities and villages in the provinces of Fars and Bushehr, including Brazzan in southern Iran, witnessed protests where protesters called on the government and officials of the Iranian regime to intervene to find solutions to the water shortage crisis caused by drought and government mismanagement of water resources.

While the cities of Muhammara, Abadan and Ahwaz, Arab populated areas in southwestern Iran, have recently witnessed days of protests against the backdrop of the shortage of tap water due to the sharp decline in water levels due to the government’s wrong policies in the construction of dams to divert water to other Iranian provinces in the center of the country, resulting in the destruction of the environment and sewage infiltration.

According to a human rights

organization in the city of Ahvaz in southwest of Iran, police and security personnel clashed with protesters firing live bullets, which led to many casualties, followed later with random arrests of more than 125 activists in the city.

The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...

...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are going to great lengths to further the agenda of the US administration in the Middle East region, and please their masters.

Addressing his supporters via a televised speech broadcast from the Yemeni capital city of Sana’a on Friday afternoon, Abdul-Malik Badreddin al-Houthi stated that Riyadh and Abu Dhabi regimes are struggling with mounting economic crises as they are pouring huge sums of money into the pockets of US statesmen.

He warned that the United States and Israel are doing their best in order to bring all aspects of Yemenis’ lives under their control, stressing that utter humiliation awaits the Yemeni nation in case it cedes to arrogant powers’ plots.

"Enemies are trying to divert our nation from the right path. They are seeking to transform Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
into a society beset with problems, diseases and ethical issues," the Ansarullah chief pointed out.

He underlined that no Moslem society would become subservient to the US and the Tel Aviv regime unless it distances from Islamic teachings and ethics.

"Enemies want to separate us from the principles of true Islam, and then present us a distorted version of the monolithic religion. They want to distort Islam because its true version emphatically rejects submission to aggressors. Whatever enemies do is solely meant to take our Yemeni nation away from true Islam," Houthi said.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Former FBI lawyer Lisa Page gets closed-door grilling from House Republicans
[The Hill] Former FBI lawyer Lisa Page on Friday afternoon faced a grilling from House Republicans keen to uncover any discrepancies between her testimony and Peter Strzok’s, the counterintelligence agent who testified in public for 10 hours the day before.

Where the Strzok hearing was a pageant display of the animosity and deeply divided politics surrounding the bureau, Page’s closed-door deposition led to few fireworks. She did not answer questions from reporters entering and exiting the Judiciary Committee’s closed spaces ‐ and the handful of lawmakers who conducted the interview provided few details.

Multiple Republican lawmakers described Page as cooperative and credible ‐ in marked contrast to their vituperative characterizations of Strzok ‐ and said that she answered some questions that Strzok would not.

"We certainly learned additional things today, but I can tell you that the last thing anyone wants to be is falsely accused and her willingness to cooperate today speaks well of her," said Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.).

The Grand Turk
Turkey to lift state of emergency
[AlAhram] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund....
will next week lift the state of emergency introduced after a failed 2016 coup and which granted the government greater powers to detain suspects, presidential front man Ibrahim Kalin said on Friday.

"The current state of emergency is coming to an end on the night of July 18. Mr President has the will... not to extend it," Kalin told news hounds after the first cabinet meeting since President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
's outright election victory last month.

Under emergency rule, renewed seven times since the abortive coup against Erdogan's elected government, over 110,000 public sector employees have been removed from their jobs via emergency decrees while tens of thousands more have been suspended in a crackdown criticised by Ankara's Western allies.

However the government says the purges are needed to rid the state of the "virus" of Moslem preacher Fethullah Gülen
... a Turkish preacher living in Pennsylvania whom the current govt of Turkey considers responsible for all the ills afflicting Turkey and possibly the entire world...
blamed by the authorities for criminal masterminding the coup bid.

Gulen, who is based in the US, has denied any role.

Kalin added that the lifting of emergency rule would slow down Turkey's fight against terror, but that the fight would continue under counter-terrorism laws.

And he said that if Turkey faces another "extraordinary threat, the state of emergency might be reintroduced".

Hamas concludes comprehensive talks with Cairo intelligence officials
[AlAhram] A delegation from the Paleostinian group Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", has left Cairo after a four-day round of talks with Egypt’s intelligence chief and other officials over Egyptian support for measures aimed at easing the humanitarian crisis in Gazoo and Paleostinian reconciliation.

The delegation was headed by Hamas deputy political chief Saleh al-Arouri and other group officials including Mosa Abo Marzok, Khalil al-Hayya, Hossam Badran, Ezzat al-Rishq and Rohi Mushtaha.

The group met with Egypt’s intelligence chief Abbas Kamel and other intelligence officials handling the Paleostinian reconciliation dossier.

In a statement following their visit, Hamas said its delegation reiterated its wish to achieve reconciliation and Paleostinian national unity on a basis of partnership in resistance and decision-making, adding that achieving unity includes immediately lifting sanctions imposed by the Paleostinian Authority on Hamas.

They also restated their wish for reassembling the Paleostinian Liberation Organisation (PLO) through a new national unity council according to the outcomes of the meeting of Paleostinian factions in Beirut in 2017, as well as a full and comprehensive execution of Cairo’s 2011 agreement between the factions without any redaction or selectivity.

Abo Marzok described the latest round of talks as "the most important and comprehensive in terms of topics discussed."

The relationship between Hamas and rival Fatah has been witnessing political escalation.

Paleostinian Authority President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
said that for reconciliation to take place, Hamas must hand over their facilities in Gazoo as agreed upon in reconciliation talks, adding that "this has to be demonstrated in the upcoming period."

Fatah is calling for an execution of terms for reconciliation, which collapsed after Paleostinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah survived an assignation attempt last March as he was heading to Gazoo to continue talks for reconciliation, which was reached between the two rival factions in Cairo in 2017.

Hamas announced at the time that it is not responsible for the attack on the Paleostinian PM.

The PLO’s executive committee member Azzam al-Ahmed said that Cairo received a report last week from the PLO's Gazoo Committee, which Cairo said was objective, and which al-Ahmed asked Hamas to show same level of objectivity.

According to sources in Cairo, the outcomes of the report echo Abbas' demand that Hamas hands over facilities and continue the previous agreed upon arrangements, which the sources say means there is still room for harmonisation between the two parties.

At least 45 Houthis killed in failed attempts to restore various lost posts
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] More than 30 Houthi

The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
murderous Moslems were killed following Arab Coalition air raids in Yemen’s Tahita directorate in the country’s west coast, as well as several Saada fronts.

A security source said that the raids targeted Houthi gatherings in a number of farms surrounding Tahita, which resulted in the destruction of four Houthi military vehicles, and death of murderous Moslems including top Houthi officials.

Meanwhile,
...back at the barn, Bossy's udder had begun to ache...
at least 15 Houthi murderous Moslems were killed, and several others injured after the Yemeni army deterred a Houthi attack on army posts in the Alab front, north of Saada.

Brigadier General Yasser Majli, commander of the 63rd infantry division, said the army forces deterred the Houthi attack on al-Shaeer Mountain and al-Tabab in the Baqim district, adding that the Houthis were trying to restore some of the posts they had lost control of, but failed.

The army’s confrontations with the Houthi militias coincided with Arclight airstrikes launched by coalition fighter jets on Houthi posts in the area of Abwab al-Hadid and parts of al-Tabab.

The Yemeni army found TNT, owned by Houthi militias in Saada, following a qualitative military operation launched against Houthi posts in the Alab front on Monday night.

Colonel Sami al-Qabbati had told Al Arabiya news channel the TNT was seized after the Yemeni army succeeded in executing a military operation on the Houthis posts in Abwab al-Hadid in Baqim, adding that a number of Houthis were killed and injured during the raid.

In Baqim, new Arab Coalition military reinforcements arrived in support of the legitimate army, including tanks, armed vehicles and machine guns of various calibers, according to military sources.

Donald Trump says Boris Johnson would make 'great prime minister'
[telegraph] Boris Johnson would make “a great prime minister” because “he’s got what it takes”, Donald Trump has said just days after the former foreign secretary quit Theresa May’s Cabinet.

The US President said he was “very saddened” to see Mr Johnson leave the Government because he is “a very talented guy” for whom “I have a lot of respect”.

However Mr Johnson’s successor as Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, was doing “a terrible job” and was failing the capital over terrorism and crime, he said.

Britain
Islamic Head teacher who hired London Bridge terrorist Khuram Butt is struck off
[TheTimes] A head teacher who employed an extremist who went on to carry out the London Bridge terrorist attack has been banned from teaching.

Sophie Rahman allowed Khuram Butt to teach children as young as three without any background checks, which would have revealed his violent past, a Teaching Regulation Agency hearing in Coventry was told.

Butt, 28, one of three terrorists who murdered eight people and injured 48 in June last year before being shot dead by police, taught a class at Eton Community School

#1  I had to read this to find out the meaning of 'struck off' in this context.

'Struck off' the approved list, not something more ... violent.

#2  "Islamic Head Struck Off" would have been a far more interesting headline.

India-Pakistan
Political activist shot dead in Peshawar
[DAWN] Unidentified assailants bumped off a political activist from Landi Kotal on Nasir Bagh Road in Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire.
on Thursday.

Family sources said that Qari Said Alam along with his two other companions was coming from their house near Regi Lalma to Karkhano Market when their car was attacked by unidentified button men riding on a cycle of violence near Nasir Bagh cop shoppe.

He was killed on the spot as he was hit in the head and face, while his lover companion Fahad was injured in the attack.

Alam’s body was later shifted from Peshawar hospital to Landi Kotal.

His third companion Tayyab escaped unhurt.

Said Alam was affiliated with al-Haj Karawan, a non-political organization of former MNA from Khyber Haji Shahji Gul who is contesting the July 25 elections as an independent candidate.

He was considered a close aide of Shahji Gul and was running his election campaign. During his recent speeches, he had hinted about the threats he was receiving. He was a theology teacher in a government school.

Said Alam remained closely affiliated with another former MNA and now a candidate of Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf
...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations....
Allama Noorul Haq Qadri during his previous election campaigns in 2008 and 2013. He parted ways with Mr Qadri after developing personal differences with him after the 2013 general elections which he lost to Shahji Gul.

-War on Police-
This Week in Guns, July 14th, 2018

By Chris Covert
Rantburg.com

From the “How did that get there" Department:

The government backs off for now from prosecuting Defense Distributed for uploading gun plans to the internet. The government's position was that such activity violated federal law in allowing guns designed in the US to fall into foreign hands.

But these were just the drawings. There were no guns involved. Just the drawings.

How is this a big deal?

For one, not only do these gun plans provide the average individual a means of building something for self defense, it gives others ideas on how to improve on the designs.

It will be interesting in five years' time when hostile foreign governments try to stop those files from being available.

Good luck with that.

And on a note about a subject I long have studied, next Monday is the 100 year anniversary of the murders of the Romanov dynasty by Russian Bolsheviks.

If ever there was a case for guns...

Loads.

Rantburg's summary for arms and ammunition:

Pistol ammunition prices were mixed. Rifle ammunition prices were mostly steady.

Prices for used pistols were mostly higher. Prices for used rifles were mostly higher.

(July 14th, 2018) For the ninth week running, used AR-15 prices have averaged below $500.
