Charlottesville Judge Rules Confederate Statues Are Protected War Monuments
[Breitbart] A judge has ruled that statues of Confederate generals in Charlottesville, Virginia, are protected by state law ‐ which will likely halt any local efforts to remove the monuments, according to reports on the opinion released Tuesday afternoon.
Graphic depicts Confederate memorial at Middleburg, VA.
Local CBS affiliate WCAV reports that Charlottesville Circuit Judge Richard Moore defies the recent phenomenon of city councils, schools, and other governing bodies removing historical markers to address modern residents who are offended by what they perceive as endorsements of slavery and white supremacy.

The judge wrote that he would likely overturn any civil judgment that called for the removal of the statues:

In his nine page ruling, Moore cites the fact that both Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson are depicted in their military uniforms and on horses associated with their time in the Civil War.

"I believe that defendants have confused or conflated 1) what the statues are with 2) the intentions or motivations of some involved in erecting them, or the impact that they might have on some people and how they might make some people feel," Moore writes. "But that does not change what they are."

Moore finds the issue to be so clear-cut that "if the matter went to trial on this issue and a jury were to decide that they are not monuments or memorials to veterans of the civil war, I would have to set such verdict aside as unreasonable..."

#1  which will likely halt any local efforts to remove the monuments,

...I'm dubious as to whether or not that will halt those whose feelings transcend mere law.

Venezuela uprising turns violent after military armored vehicle plows into crowd of opposition supporters
[Fox News] Emboldened supporters of opposition leader Juan Guaido brutally clashed with Venezuelan security forces as dramatic footage from Caracas showed a military armored vehicle plowing into the crowd.

In a video broadcast live on telecasts across the world, the armored vehicle can be seen driving over the center of a road, hitting a crowd of demonstrators purportedly throwing rocks at security forces. No injuries were immediately reported.

Sen. Marco Rubio, R-FL., denounced the actions by Venezuelan security forces, saying that "military and security leaders must realize they are and will be held responsible for this," he said on Twitter.

FBI Investigating Antifa For Plotting To Buy Guns From Cartel For ‘Armed Rebellion'
The FBI is investigating anti-fascist activists for an alleged plot to buy guns from a Mexican cartel in order to "stage an armed rebellion" at the southern border, according to an unclassified document obtained by The Chicago Tribune.
Guess they can't buy them legally here
The FBI document, from December of 2018, warns of militant antifa activists planning to "disrupt security operations" at the U.S.-Mexico border. The group allegedly planned to buy guns from a Mexican cartel associate known as Cobra Commander, in order to "stage an armed rebellion at the border."

The source who provided it to the San Diego Tribune asked the outlet not to publish the six-page document because the investigation is ongoing, and the outlet cited two additional law enforcement officials who confirmed the news. The FBI has warned dozens of law enforcement agencies in both Mexico and the United States of the alleged plot.

Two of the men named in the report told the San Diego Tribune the allegations are absurd.

"It doesn't make any sense that someone from the United States would purchase guns in Mexico," Ivan Reibeling, the man known as Cobra Commander, told the outlet. "And the Hondurans certainly didn't bring money to buy guns. It doesn't make any sense; in fact it's extremely absurd to say the Hondurans wanted to attack the United States at the border.

The FBI sent the report marked "priority" to agencies including the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the CIA and the National Security Administration.

Antifa is known for using violent means, including in protests against peaceful conservative speakers, free speech advocates and even journalists. The well-documented instances of violence include a protester repeatedly punching a man in the face, throwing water bottles and launching fireworks at police officers and starting fires on a college campus with Molotov cocktails. The Daily Caller News Foundation's reporting led to the arrest of an Antifa leader who stands accused of accosting and assaulting two Marines in Philadelphia.

Former Vice President Joe Biden launched his campaign for president by praising the group. He referred to a group of protesters who gathered in Charlottesville, VA, and violently confronted white nationalists "a courageous group of Americans."
If you wonder what side old Joe is on, remember this quote. They are the muscle of his party.

Venezuela's Guaido calls for military uprising while flanked by soldiers at Caracas airbase
Fox News has been updating this story, so check the link to see the latest.
[FoxNews] ’The moment is now’

Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido took to the streets Tuesday morning and called for a military uprising, saying he has begun the "final phase" of his plan to oust embattled President Nicolas Maduro.

In a three-minute video posted on his Twitter account, the 35-year-old lawmaker said soldiers who took the streets would be acting to protect Venezuela's constitution.

"The moment is now," said Guaido, who shot the video at a Caracas airbase surrounded by soldiers and accompanied by detained activist and mentor, Leopoldo Lopez.

"The national armed forces have taken the correct decision, and they count on the support of the Venezuelan people," he said.

In his first public appearance since being detained in 2014 for leading anti-government protests, Lopez claimed on Twitter that he was freed by the military and called on all Venezuelans to peacefully take to the streets.

"This is the moment of all Venezuelans, those in uniform and those who aren't," he told reporters. "Everyone should come to the streets, in peace."

He added on Twitter: "We must all mobilize. It is time to conquer freedom."
He must have gotten the message a couple generals flipped.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Hezbollah Terror Tunnels Discovered in Israel
International peacekeepers stationed in Lebanon have confirmed Israeli intelligence showing the Iranian-backed terror group Hezbollah has been operating several tunnels along Israel's northern border, a tactic used by this group to conduct terrorist raids.

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, or UNIFIL, has confirmed the existence of at least five separate tunnels running between Lebanese and Israeli territory.

These types of underground bunkers have been used by Hamas and other terrorist groups to transport weapons and militants into Israeli territory in order to conduct attacks and kidnappings. Hezbollah, with Tehran's backing, has also adopted this technique in a bid to cause further chaos on Israel's northern border.

Israeli military officials forwarded to UNIFIL information on at least six separate tunnels, five of which the international group has been able to independently confirm.

"Following independent technical investigations undertaken in accordance with its mandate, UNIFIL had already confirmed that two of the tunnels cross the Blue Line, in violation of the UN Security Council resolution 1701," UNIFIL said in a statement.

Clinton Official pleads guilty to conspiracy charges tied to communist China agents
[World Tribune] A former State Department employee, who worked under both Bill and Hillary Clinton, pleaded guilty to a charge of conspiracy to defraud the United States on April 24. According to the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) press release, Candace Marie Claiborne, 63, committed the crime by:

"...lying to law enforcement and background investigators, and hiding her extensive contacts with, and gifts from, agents of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), in exchange for providing them with internal documents from the U.S. State Department."

Claiborne, who had top secret security clearance, received "tens of thousands of dollars in gifts and benefits." Some of the favors were given directly to her, while others were provided to a family member to supposedly pass along to the former federal employee. Benefits received included cash to her USAA account, international travel and vacations, a fully furnished apartment, Chinese New Year’s gifts, tuition at a Chinese fashion school, a monthly stipend, and many cash payments.

Assistant Attorney General Demers said that "Candace Marie Claiborne traded her integrity and non-public information of the United States government in exchange for cash and other gifts from foreign agents she knew worked for the Chinese intelligence service."

The plea documents state that Claiborne provided "copies of internal documents from the State Department on topics ranging from U.S. economic strategies to visits by dignitaries between the two countries" in exchange for the benefits received.

In her journal, according to the DOJ, Claiborne noted that she could "Generate 20K in 1 year" by working with the PRC. The agent she referred to at one point gave her the task of "providing internal U.S. Government analyses on a U.S.-Sino Strategic Economic Dialogue that had just occurred."

The DOJ also said Claiborne admitted to a co-conspirator that the PRC agents were "spies." Allegedly, after being contacted by FBI investigators and the State Department, she instructed co-conspirators to "delete evidence connecting her to the PRC agents."

#4  "Really, much cleverer to suborn her than any number of ambassadors." No disagreement there.

In this case, she worked as the office manager in the Public Affairs Section - not a hotbed of intrigue to say the least. She would NOT routinely have access to the specific info the ChiComs tasked her with. She could get some info passively but she would not have been in the "room" during sensitive trade talks. Handlers could have been hoping she moved to a position of better access in the future though she faced retirement at 65.

Science & Technology
The New Revolution in Military Affairs - War's Sci-Fi Future
[Foreign Affairs] In 1898, a Polish banker and self-taught military expert named Jan Bloch published The Future of War, the culmination of his long obsession with the impact of modern technology on warfare. Bloch foresaw with stunning prescience how smokeless gunpowder, improved rifles, and other emerging technologies would overturn contemporary thinking about the character and conduct of war. (Bloch also got one major thing wrong: he thought the sheer carnage of modern combat would be so horrific that war would "become impossible.")

What Bloch anticipated has come to be known as a "revolution in military affairs"‐the emergence of technologies so disruptive that they overtake existing military concepts and capabilities and necessitate a rethinking of how, with what, and by whom war is waged. Such a revolution is unfolding today. Artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, ubiquitous sensors, advanced manufacturing, and quantum science will transform warfare as radically as the technologies that consumed Bloch. And yet the U.S. government’s thinking about how to employ these new technologies is not keeping pace with their development.

This is especially troubling because Washington has been voicing the same need for change, and failing to deliver it, ever since officials at the U.S. Department of Defense first warned of a coming "military-technical revolution," in 1992. That purported revolution had its origins in what Soviet military planners termed "the reconnaissance-strike complex" in the 1980s, and since then, it has been called "network-centric warfare" during the 1990s, "transformation" by U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld in these pages in 2002, and "the third offset strategy" by Deputy Secretary of Defense Robert Work in 2014. But the basic idea has remained the same: emerging technologies will enable new battle networks of sensors and shooters to rapidly accelerate the process of detecting, targeting, and striking threats, what the military calls the "kill chain."

#1  Someone someplace someday might actually stumble on what 'war' is. Nasty, destructive, unemotional devastation of the enemy and its roots. Something to be avoid if possible. However, if not possible, done to the end as quickly and unforgiving as possible without any consideration to 'feelings' or humanity.

#4  So how do you explain how disruptive the low tech suicide bomber, boom mobile, and random jihadis are to the modern warfare TO?

I believe it goes two ways, as the formal organized militaries become more technologically advanced in their ability to conduct operations, the low tech/very low tech suicide bomber, random terrorist acts will become more effective.

Seems to me technology seems to miss the low tech threats and creates tactical blind spots in the field command. The dependence upon technology reduces the ability of the commanders' to anticipate low tech/asymmetrical warfare.

Europe
Over 1.55 billion euros has been spent on the illegal anonymous migrant cards
[Website of the Hungarian Government] “Over two million people have received anonymous migrant cards, and the equivalent of 500 billion forints (1.55 bn euros) has been spent in this manner”, Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister György Bakondi said on Hungarian M1 television’s Friday morning current affairs program.

Mr. Bakondi said the migrant cards are unlawful, because European citizens cannot own anonymous banking cards, they cannot be monitored, and no public procurement procedure was launched for their issuing.

“This solution, which ‘has not been thought through and is unlawful’, and other efforts on the part of the European Union to legalise illegal migration such as the migrant visa and the establishment of legal channels for immigration, represent a security risk with healthcare, economic and cultural consequences for Hungarian and European citizens’, he stated.

In the Chief Security Advisor’s opinion, they don’t want to stop migration, but legalise it. “Hungary, however, does not agree with this. Hungary’s opinion is that the problem must not be brought into Europe, but that instead, assistance must be provided to enable problems to be solved on site”, he added.

Mr. Bakondi also mentioned that the good weather has led to an increase in the number of migrants on the Balkan migration route.

Deonte Taylor, 36, and his 66-year-old lover, Michael Johnson, both appeared in court on Wednesday and entered not guilty pleas to multiple charges of conspiracy to commit murder and tampering with a witness.

Authorities say the sex crime involving the boy, now aged 10, happened three years ago, but Taylor was not charged until November 2018 with three counts of sodomy.

O'Rourke got the idea while skating a half-pipe and smoking some weed with some local youths over the weekend.

"Can you imagine just how bad the nation would be with everyone grinding, flipping, tricking, and pop shove-it-ing all around? Totally rad," O'Rourke said to the youths as he passed a joint around. "Yeah, man, that'd be so sick. Bruh. I mean, dude. Bruh. Dude."

The candidate was asked to leave the skate park as it's for high schoolers, sadly. But he still came up with the basic framework for his plan before he crashed on his couch, Flamin' Hot Cheeto residue still stuck to his fingers.

"No one else is willing to take this kind of bold, decisive, totally tubular action against climate change," O'Rourke said in a speech Monday. "The nation will be 100% doper---and cooler---after I pass this plan with an executive order my first day in office, just like the Constitution allows me to."

Sports Illustrated features first burkini girl
[BBC] A Somali-American supermodel has become the first Muslim model to appear in Sports Illustrated wearing a burkini.

Halima Aden is featured in its annual swimsuit issue in the swimwear which covers the entire body except the face, hands and feet.

"Young girls who wear a hijab should have women they look up to in any and every industry," she told the BBC.

Halima Aden grew up in a Kenyan refugee camp, moved to the US aged seven and began wearing the hijab shortly after.

"We are now seeing politicians, business women, television reporters, and other successful hijabi women in visible roles and that is the message we need to be sending," she said.

"The response has been incredible and I'm so honoured that Sports Illustrated has taken the step to showcase the beauty that modestly dressed women possess."

Now we know for sure that Trump is the better man
[American Thinker] Those of us who live in solid Democrat strongholds amid single-minded leftists will know what it is like to attempt a civil conversation about President Trump. This is especially true if one encounters those true-blue Dems in the wealthiest areas of California, N.Y., and D.C. Because they are wealthy, successful, often educated at one of the prestige colleges, they know, with every fiber of their being, that they are smarter, wiser, and better than any of us lowly, deplorable Trump-supporters.

If they are Jewish, and you ask them if they appreciate Trump's support of Israel, they will look at you, roll their eyes as if you were even more verklempt than they thought. They hate Trump more than they love Israel. If you ask them if they are bothered by the open acceptance of anti-Semitism by the Democratic Party, they will shrug at the lunacy of your question and say something like "anti-Semitism has always been with us." They will deny to their death its escalation across the world at this moment in time, despite the obvious overt escalation and implicit approval of and by the global left. Their identities since the 2016 election are defined by their opposition to Trump. They have sold their souls because their candidate lost the election.

Ask them if they are not pleased with his phenomenal success regarding the economy. Are not the economic developments under Trump great for them, their 401(k)s, their stock portfolios? Have not his foreign policy maneuvers been successful? Are we not immeasurably better off overall than under Obama? Again, they will regard your question with disgust and disdain. As many others have observed, they hate the president more than they love this country, this country that made their privilege, wealth, and safety possible.

Sri Lanka
Day 10: Sri Lanka Suspends Police Chief over Easter Attacks, Over 150 Arrested
Yesterday’s report can be seen here.
[AnNahar] Sri Lanka's president suspended the chief of police on Monday and appointed a new defence secretary in a shake-up of the shell-shocked country's security services following the Easter Sunday terror attacks.

Intelligence warnings from abroad alerting to possible attacks by Islamist bandidos turbans were ignored ahead of the multiple bombings of churches and upscale hotels on April 21 that killed 253 people and injured nearly 500.

Chief of police Pujith Jayasundara had refused to quit to clear the way for a shake-up of the 85,000-strong force, prompting President Maithripala Sirisena to suspend him on Monday.

Senior Deputy Inspector-General Chandana Wickramaratne was appointed acting police chief in his place, Sirisena's office said in a statement.

Separately Sirisena appointed on Monday a former head of the army, Shantha Kottegoda, as the country's top defence official.

His predecessor at the ministry of defence and law and order, Hemasiri Fernando, stepped down on Thursday in the wake of the attacks, which were claimed by the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group.

General Kottegoda, 69, was forced to retire as head of the army in December 2005, by then-president Mahinda Rajapakse.

Sirisena said an intelligence agency from a neighbouring country had provided precise details of the impending attack 17 days in advance, but local authorities had failed to take counter measures. Official sources said the president was referring to information provided by India's Research and Analysis Wing which apparently gleaned details of the Easter attacks from a jihadist suspect in Indian custody.

Security forces searched a Moslem burial ground in Colombo Monday following information that explosives had been hidden there, but the troops did not find any, officials said.

However,
man does not live by words alone, despite the fact that sometimes he has to eat them...
cordon and search searches were carried out across the country and 13 foreign nationals overstaying their visas were jugged
Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages!
, police said.

It was not clear if the foreigners -- 10 Nigerians and one each from India, Iran and Thailand -- were linked to religious bandidos turbans or the Easter attacks.

Over 150 people have been arrested since April 21 and more than 15 people killed in raids.
The Times of Israel adds:
Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, in an interview with The News Agency that Dare Not be Named, acknowledged that authorities wanted to investigate the role of foreign money in the Easter attacks, saying in particular that money from Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
had been going to religious organizations.

"Saudi Arabia or the Middle East has been the source of many of those funds and some of it has gone into these extreme organizations," Wickremesinghe told the AP on Thursday. "These are what we are investigating."

The Saudi government did not immediately respond to a request for comment Monday.

Watch Ben Rhodes Squirm When Asked If Obama's WH Was Involved In FBI Investigation Of Trump
[The Federalist] Ben Rhodes, former deputy of national security for President Obama, told journalist Nicholas Ballasy that the Obama administration was unaware and uninvolved in the FBI’s investigation into then-candidate Donald Trump.

"Literally, I learned about the investigation into Trump as a private citizen in the freaking Washington Post," Rhodes said.
Just like Zero. Everything he learned he got from the paper
When asked about the dossier, Rhodes insisted he had nothing to do with.

"I saw it‐I heard about it at the very end in 2017. We weren’t, like, involved in commissioning the dossier. We learned about it when it was in the report that was appended to the report that went to Congress at the end of the administration," he said.

While Rhodes maintains the Obama administration’s innocence, unredacted copies of text messages suggest otherwise. Former FBI employees Peter Strzok and Lisa Page served on Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation when their anti-Trump text messages were leaked. "The White House is running this," one text read.

Between 2016 and 2017, Obama For America (OFA), Obama’s official campaign organization, paid nearly a million dollars to the same law firm that funneled money to Fusion GPS, the firm behind the Steele dossier.

Libya's Mufti urges people to forget the past to save their country
[Libya Observer] The Libyan Mufti, Sheikh al-Sadiq al-Ghariani
...Libyan Moslem Brüderhood Grand Mufti since 2012. Issued a fatwa forbidding Libyan women from marrying foreign men. Issued a "fatwa against a UN Commission on the Status of Women's report because it urged governments to protect women and girls against violence" Aligned with the GNC govt...
has called on Libyans to be united in order to save the country, which he said is under destruction threats, urging them as well to leave the past behind and start over for the sake of Libya.

The Mufti urged the fighters, whom he described as fighting "invading mercenaries and setting an example by their sacrifices for the unity of all Libyan parties: Presidential Council, High Council of State, General National Congress members and others" for unity.

He also called on preachers, political analysts, activists, and all other Libyans to forget the past, saying the disagreements of years had brought misfortunes and bloodshed in the country and adding that all Libyans ought to be united at this time.

"Libya is under attack now and we all should be united in order to overcome it. All those who speak in public to cause chaos and division are making mistakes punishable by religion as they lead to killings and destruction. The enemy is cunning and has a long history of crimes and will be happy for the division among his opponents." The Mufti added.

He urged social media users to stop the verbal war and to leave the past behind as it is "Haram" to talk about the past at this point because it causes division.

Sheikh al-Sadiq al-Ghariani indicated that forgetting about the past actions of others needs courage and helps boost the victory chances for the whole country.

Gunmen kill pastor, worshippers in Burkina Faso church
[DW] A group of attackers fired at Christian worshippers in Burkina Faso
...The country in west Africa that they put where Upper Volta used to be. Its capital is Oogadooga, or something like that. Its president is currently Blaise Compaoré, who took office in 1987 and will leave office feet first, one way or the other...
as the victims were leaving a church service, eyewitnesses have said. Several people have reportedly been killed, including the protestant pastor.

An attack on a church in Burkina Faso killed five people on Sunday, local media reported. At least two other people were missing, according to a security source cited by the AFP news agency.

The pastor of the church was also killed in the raid, which targeted the Protestant congregation in the small northern town of Silgadji, some 200 kilometers (124 miles) away from the capital Ouagadougou.

"The attackers were on cycle of violences," a witness told AFP. "They had gun sex before aiming at the members of the congregation."

The attack happened in early afternoon, "just as the faithful were leaving the church at the end of the service," the witness added.

Over one half of Burkina Faso residents are Moslem, but Christians, most of them Catholics, make up some 30 percent of the population. The West African state has been struggling with jihadist violence since 2015.

Jihadist groups regularly target Christian and moderate Moslem holy mans in the north of the country. Several hundred people have bit the dust in the violence. A Catholic priest was killed in February in a raid attributed to jihadist groups, and a group of button men kidnapped another priest in the north in March.

Trinity College defends professor's 'whiteness is terrorism' message
[WASHINGTONTIMES] Trinity College professor Johnny Eric Williams is capturing headlines once again for proposing "whiteness is terrorism" on Twitter.

The Hartford, Connecticut, sociology professor who called white people "inhuman a-holes" who need to "die" following a shooting attack on congressional Republicans now says "whiteness is terrorism."

School officials, as they did for years, are standing by the professor.

"Trinity College supports academic freedom and free expression and inquiry, which are hallmarks of academia and democratic society," Trinity College President Joanne Berger-Sweeney told the educational watchdog Campus Reform on Monday. "When speech proves controversial, our responsibility as educators is to promote more debate and discussion, not less. Twitter is a challenging place for a thoughtful discourse, which is clear from this example."

Mr. Williams, who is black, switched his account settings to private after the April 21 tweets.

Death toll in Yemen to reach 233,000 by end of year
[ALMASDARNEWS] The corpse count from the ongoing war in Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
will reach a staggering 233,000 if it continues until the end of 2019, a new report from the United Nations
...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks...
said.

According to the UN report, of the 233,000 estimated deaths in Yemen, 102,000 will be combat-related and the remaining 131,000 due to malnutrition, cholera, and other diseases.

In another shocking statistic, the U.N. report said that 140,000 children will have been killed since the start of the conflict in March of 2015.

The report said that by the end of the year, one child will death will be reported every 11 minutes and 54 seconds.

These totals are only expected to increase substantially in the next three years, as the U.N. estimates the corpse count will reach nearly 500,000 by 2022.

Unlike the war in Syria, the conflict in Yemen is rarely discussed in the international media.

Despite the fact that the Yemeni War is now the most violent conflict in the Middle East region, it still receives less coverage than other conflicts.

Texas Attorney General arrests Edinburg Mayor (Dem) Richard Molina and wife on voter fraud charges
[HoustonChronicle] A South Texas mayor and his wife have been arrested on voter fraud charges, Attorney General Ken Paxton announced Thursday.

City of Edinburg Mayor Richard Molina and his wife, Dalia, are charged with illegal voting, a second-degree felony punishable by two to 20 years in jail and an up to $10,000 fine, related to his 2017 mayoral election. Molina unseated the incumbent Mayor Richard Garcia after winning by more than 1,200 votes in that election.

The couple is accused of asking voters to change their addresses to places they didn’t live, including an apartment complex Molina owns, so they could vote for him in the November 2017 city election as part of what Paxton described as “an organized illegal voting scheme.”

LHC directs police to submit proof that resulted in Khadim Rizvi's arrest
[DAWN] The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday directed the authorities to submit the record of proof that led to the arrest of Pakistain Tehrik-e-Labaik (TLP) chief Khadim Hussain Rizvi.

A two-member bench, headed by Justice Mohammad Qasim Khan, was hearing bail petitions filed by Rizvi and Pir Afzal Qadri.

The high court also ordered the concerned SP Investigation and the investigation officer on the case to appear before the court in all consequent hearings of the case.

The petitioners held the Punjab

2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

government and others as party in their bail plea.

The counsel for Rizvi contended that police jugged

him on the bases of an "illegal" case. The allegation of incitement to violence against the TLP chief was baseless, he added.

During the hearing, Justice Qasim pointed out that in the last hearing, the prosecutor general was asked to appear before the court. Deputy Prosecutor General Khurrum Khan, who was present in the court room, responded that the prosecutor general was in Islamabad and that he had transferred the case to the deputy.

Ill-advised jihadist surprise attack in western Aleppo ends in failure
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) reported on Sunday that an attempted ambush by the jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
in the western part of Aleppo city had failed after a short battle.

According to the Syrian military, Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham managed to infiltrate their positions near the Family House in western Aleppo, killing a few soldiers in the process.

However,
there is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened...
the attack would later turn sour for Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham as the Syrian Army killed several jihadists and forced them to retreat back towards their lines in western Aleppo.

Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham has been carrying out several of these attacks as of late, prompting the Syrian military to increase their security around the western perimeter of Aleppo city.

Despite the increased security, the Syrian Arab Army has still found themselves as the recipients of a number of ambushes by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham in the western part of Aleppo.

Eventually, the Syrian military will have to launch a new operation to clear western Aleppo as the situation continues to get worse each week.

ISIS executes 8 Syrian soldiers after ambush in eastern Homs

(ISIS/ISIS/IS/ISIS) carried out a powerful ambush in the eastern countryside of the Homs Governorate.

According to reports from eastern Syria, the Islamic State laid the ambush against the Syrian Arab Army troops near the desert town of al-Sukhnah.

In addition to killing several soldiers near the town of al-Sukhnah, the Islamic State also captured eight military personnel alive.

The Islamic State would later execute the Syrian Army soldiers, posting images of their forces of Evil killing the military personnel in an undisclosed location in the Badiya al-Sham region.

The Islamic State has been wreaking havoc on the Syrian Arab Army’s positions in the eastern countryside of Homs recently, killing over 40 soldiers in the last ten days alone.

In order to counter these Islamic State ambushes, the Syrian Arab Army has sent reinforcements to the Homs and Deir Ezzor governorates; however, they have yet to deter the forces of Evil from carrying out these attacks.

Russian jets rain airstrikes on jihadist forces in southern Idlib
[ALMASDARNEWS] For the fourth day in a row, the Russian Air Force has unleashed a plethora of Arclight airstrikes over the northwestern region of Syria.

According to a military source in nearby Hama, the Russian Air Force heavily targeted the jihadist-held town of Tramla in the southern countryside of the Idlib Governorate.

The Russian Air Force would also target a number of sites belonging to Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
along the Hama-Idlib axis, the source would add.

These airstrikes by the Russian Air Force come just hours after the jihadist rebels launched a hit-and-run attack against the Syrian Arab ARmy (SAA) troops in the northwestern countryside of the Hama Governorate.

As a result of this attack on the al-Athar Checkpoint near the town of Qal’at al-Madiq, more than ten Syrian Arab Army soldiers were killed and several more maimed.

The Russian Air Force has launched more airstrikes in April than all of the previous months of this year combined.

The reason for this exponential increase in airstrikes is due to the large expansion of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham in several areas across northwestern Syria.

Afghanistan
Peace Jirga Begins With 3,200 Delegates In Attendance
[ToloNews] The Grand Consultative Jirga on Peace was started on Monday despite that it has been boycotted by many mainstream political parties and election tickets.

Addressing the inauguration of the Jirga, President Ghani's Special Envoy Umer Daudzai said at least 3,200 delegates and 300 guests have attended the event.
Only marginally outnumbering the Dem POTUS Candidates for 2020
"Mr. President, I assure you that every district has delegates in the Jirga," Daudzai said. "We also asked the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
to not stop people and the delegates from attending the Jirga. We thank the Taliban for listening to our call and we call on them to listen to the message of Jirga delegates."

Daudzai said delegates from Afghan refugees in Iran and Pakistain have also attended the Peace Jirga.

He added that the Peace Jirga was organized in at least 40 days.

Addressing the event, President Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..
the Jirga will also seek ways to end war and violence in the country and that the delegates hope to find Afghanistan’s pathway for at least one century.

"It is a pride and exciting to see that 3,200 elected delegates have been gathered under one dignified umbrella from across Afghanistan to determine the framework of talks with the Taliban," Ghani said.

He said the families of both sides -- the Afghan government and the Taliban ‐ have paid the price for war and that he sees himself responsible to end the suffering.

"The four days of the Jirga will prove that you, the elected delegates of the nation, are the symbol of power and national unity and you are the owners of willingness, talent, understanding and views and you are hoping for peace and prosperity," said Ghani. "The political generation is changing. You, the delegates of all of Afghanistan, are the representatives of the new political generation and trust your judgment," Ghani said.

Senate sees off religious parties' opposition to pass bill against child marriage
[DAWN] The Senate on Monday passed the Child Marriage Restraint (Amendment) Bill, 2018 which proposes that the legal minimum age of marriage in the country be set at 18.

The bill was presented by PPP Senator Sherry Rehman, who told the House that according to a report by the United Nations
...aka the Oyster Bay Chowder and Marching Society...
Children's Fund, around 21 per cent Paks got married before turning 18.

She also pointed out that Moslem countries including Oman, The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...Qatar's colony in Asia Minor....
and United Arab Emirates have already set 18 as the minimum age of entering marriage.

Rehman also apprised the upper house of the fatal threat that underage marriages pose to mothers. "One woman dies in childbirth every 20 minutes," she said, adding that the reason for these deaths were early pregnancies.

Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam
...Assembly of Islamic Clergy, or JUI, is a Pak Deobandi (Hanafi) political party. There are two main branches, one led by Maulana Fazlur Rahman, and one that was led by Maulana Samiul Haq. Fazl is active in Pak politix and Sami spent more time running his madrassah until his secreetary rubbed him out in a jealous rage. Both branches sponsor branches of the Taliban, though with plausible deniability...
(JUI-F) Senator Ghafoor Haideri opposed the bill, saying that complicated pregnancies were not tied to age but poor healthcare. He argued that Islam allows marriage after puberty and recommended that the bill be sent to the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) before being discussed in the Senate.

"We are not promoting western culture, this is wrong," Rehman countered, saying that the bill stated that any person younger than 18 should be considered a child and be prohibited to enter marriage.

Jamaat-e-Islami
...The Islamic Society, founded in 1941 in Lahore by Maulana Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi, aka The Great Apostosizer. The Jamaat opposed the independence of Bangladesh but has operated an independent branch there since 1975. It maintains close ties with international Mohammedan groups such as the Moslem Brotherhood. the Taliban, and al-Qaeda. The Jamaat's objectives are the establishment of a pure Islamic state, governed by Sharia law. It is distinguished by its xenophobia, and its opposition to Westernization, capitalism, socialism, secularism, and liberalist social mores...
(JI) Senator Mushtaq Ahmad seconded Haideri's suggestion to send the bill to CII, saying that setting an age limit for marriage would be "against the Shariat".

Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Noorul Haq Qadri said that "there is no age limit for marriage in Islam", reminding the House that a similar bill had once already been deemed "against the Sharia" by the CII .

To this, PPP Senator Raza Rabbani said that referring the bill to the CII would be "akin to sending it into cold storage".

Rehman, meanwhile, pointed out that the bill had been endorsed unanimously by the Senate Standing Committee on Human Rights. Haideri, however, raised objections over the committee, saying that his party had not been extended an invitation to join.

Subsequently, the bill was passed by the Senate and now awaits a debate in the National Assembly.

The Child Marriage Restraint (Amendment) Bill, 2018, which aims to "curb the menace of child marriage prevalent in the country and save women from exploitation", underage marriage can lead to imprisonment of up to three years, a fine of at least Rs100,000 or both.

Iran inflation could reach 40 percent this year as economy shrinks further: IMF
[DAWN] Iran's economy is expected to shrink for the second consecutive year and inflation could reach 40 per cent, an International Monetary Fund bigwig said, as the country copes with the impact of tighter sanctions imposed by the United States.

Washington, which re-imposed sanctions against Iran's oil exports last November, this month demanded buyers of Iranian oil to stop purchases by May or face sanctions, ending six months of waivers which allowed Irans eight biggest buyers to continue importing limited volumes.

Irans economy shrank by 3.9 per cent last year, according to IMF estimates, and is expected to shrink by 6 per cent in 2019, Jihad Azour, director of the IMF's Middle East and Central Asia department, told Rooters adding, however, that the projection preceded the latest elimination of waivers.

Govt weighs options to cope with aftermath of polio scare
[DAWN] The government is considering options to cope with the aftermath of the fear created after the Monday last’s incident in which thousands of children were briefly hospitalised for ’reaction’ of anti-polio
...Poliomyelitis is a disease caused by infection with the poliovirus. Between 1840 and the 1950s, polio was a worldwide epidemic. vaccine.

The options include reducing the quantum of the national immunisation and sub-immunisation campaigns against poliomyelitis, according to sources.

They said that currently nine national immunisation campaigns, six-week apart, were conducted in the province while four sub immunisation anti-polio campaigns took place in the selected districts. It meant that the vaccination staff visited each household on average 10 times a month that created doubts in the minds of people, they added.

Frequent campaigns also exposed the health workers, who enraged some people by knocking at their doors more often. "The new strategy is aimed at shifting from high profile to a low profile business," said sources.

Feds thwart a 'mass casualties' terror plot in California by Army vet who converted to Islam and wanted retribution for the New Zealand
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] A Reseda man planned to detonate improvised bombs at several Southern Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, locations to cause "mass casualties" in a terror plot thwarted by law enforcement officials, authorities said Monday.

Mark Steven Domingo, 26, an Army veteran, was placed in durance vile
You have the right to remain silent...
Friday night after he took delivery of what he thought was a live bomb from an undercover law enforcement officer posing as a bomb-maker, officials said.
Another jihadi idiot whose bestest BFF is a government informant...
He was charged with attempting to provide material support to terrorists.

According to a federal affidavit, "after considering various attacks ‐ including targeting Jews, churches, and coppers ‐ Domingo decided to detonate an IED at a rally scheduled to take place in Long Beach this past weekend. As part of the plot, Domingo asked his confederate ‐ who actually was cooperating with the FBI as part of the investigation ‐ to find a bomb-maker, and Domingo last week purchased several hundred nails to be used as shrapnel inside the IED.

"Domingo said he specifically bought three-inch nails because they would be long enough to penetrate the human body and puncture internal organs," the affidavit states.
I'm thinking of a creative punishment....
John C. Demers, the assistant attorney general for the Justice Department national security division, said Domingo wanted to use improvised bombs that "would make the bombs even more deadly to the victims he targeted."

"His arrest today mitigates the threat he posed to others in the Los Angeles community," Demers said.

Prosecutors said Domingo sought retribution for the attacks on New Zealand mosques and said he was willing to become a martyr.

"There must be retribution," he said in an online post, according to the federal criminal complaint. He also allegedly expressed allegiance to Islamic State

Parliament members who oppose Haftar's war on Tripoli to hold session Thursday
[Libya Observer] Several members of the House of Representatives (HoR) announced in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
on Monday that they will hold next Thursday a session in Rexos Conference Hall as per the Skhirat agreement.

"We call on the rest of HoR members to join us in the Thursday session." Hamouda Sayala said reading a final statement issued by the members.

The members agreed on the agenda of the Thursday session, including electing a new Speaker and two deputies then discussing items 16, 17, and 18 of the Libyan Political Agreement, adding that they will be ending the transitional phase.

HoR members announced Sunday that they would hold a consultation session in the presence of 41 members with the oldest member chairing the session in order to elect a Speaker and issue condemnation of the war on Tripoli by Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...

49 HoR members issued a statement on the first days of Tripoli offensive condemning the escalation, rejecting military coup and supporting the civil state.

In the meantime, 31 HoR members issued a statement earlier this month backing up Haftar's military operation in Tripoli saying it is a holy war on terrorism.

Iraq forces clash with locals in Makhmour injuring one
[Rudaw] Iraqi Security Forces (ISF) opened fire on residents in the northern town of Makhmour on Sunday night, injuring one person and arresting others after a quarrel over a car that was parked in the street.

"Iraqi forces quarreled with some Kurdish youth in Makhmour downtown last night at 10:30 over refusing to remove a car they had stopped in the street. The forces had then opened fire on some people, injuring one person and arresting 10-15 others over the incident," Ahmad Haider, the director of police in Makhmour, told Rudaw.

"The fire continued for a long time, but the police in Makhmour have now brought the situation under control and the situation has now gone back to normal," he added.

Fear and anxiety spread among local residents following the incident, an eyewitness told Rudaw English on Monday.

Iraqi forces incited the youth who were hanging out in town at the time, the source claimed, and publicly beat the people they had incarcerated
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
. ISF then took the detained to its local headquarters.

Following the incident, Iraqi forces conducted a stop-and-search operation and asked shop keepers to close, the eyewitness added.

The forces, according to the source, brought in nearly 10 Humvees and four pickup trucks and fired heavy machine guns, PK machine guns, and AK-47s for nearly 10 minutes after their row with locals. No military presence was seen in the town on Monday morning.

Makhmour is a disputed area claimed both by Erbil and Baghdad. Peshmerga forces withdrew from the town following a federal takeover in October 2017.

Some Makhmour residents have complained of a militarization of the town by the ISF. At different times there have been curfews in the town. The town is strategically located about halfway between djinn-infested Mosul

...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
and decries the conspiracy against Libya's stability.

Erdogan added in a phone call with the Head of the Presidential Council Fayez al-Sarraj that The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
will use its capabilities to prevent this conspiracy from befalling Libyans.

Erdogan also said that his country will support the legitimate government in Libya, that is the "Government of National Accord" and added that there can be no military solution to the crisis as the political process is the only way out of the current conflict.

Al-Sarraj told Erdogan that the forces under his government's command are fighting for the democratic aspirations of all Libyans and keep on doing so until the attacking forces are defeated and pushed back to their previous positions.

Al-Sarraj also hailed Turkey's support for legitimacy and reiterated the need for activating joint agreements between the two countries.

Two days ago, Erdogan said that in Libya, there is a government legitimized by people's approval and a dictator receiving support from some Arab countries and Europe, referring to Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969.
Erdogan added that Libya is now the scene for dark scenarios that aim to destabilize the region, according to a report by Anadolu Agency, adding that Turkey will do all that is in its power to prevent another Syria in Libya.

UN envoy says Haftar isn't that democratic. So there.
[Libya Observer] The United Nations
...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships...
envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salame, warned Monday of the continuing support for Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. saying he is not a democratic figure and that most Libyans see him as the new Qadaffy.

Salame told La Belle France Inter Radio that Haftar isn't Abraham Lincoln and isn't a great democracy supporter.

"Haftar has some power, he wants to unite Libya which fragmented after 2011. He doesn't want the power to be in the hands of gangs and that is positive. But how is he going to do that in areas outside his control. Even in areas under his control, he rules with an iron fist." Salame remarked.

He added that he has doubts about the way Haftar wants to rule Libya because "when see his way of ruling, nothing appears but a ruling with an iron fist.

"The UN Security Council is largely split regarding Libya and that was manifested in their failure to pass the UK-drafted resolution for a ceasefire. The temptation of the strongman idea is very widespread but the reality is that the strongman is not that strong, which is also a problem for his supporters." Salame added.

He indicated that no one can ignore Haftar but there shouldn't be adaptation of Haftar's political project as it doesn't suit a very large majority of Libyans.

Five Nigerian Soldiers Dead in Boko Haram Battle
[AnNahar] At least five Nigerian soldiers were killed and some 30 are missing three days after Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
jihadis overran an army base, security sources said on Monday.

They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
West Africa Province (ISWAP), the IS-linked faction of Boko Haram, attacked the base in Nigeria's northeastern Borno state on Friday.

"We have recovered five bodies of soldiers who paid the supreme price fighting the terrorists," a military officer told AFP, giving the first reports of casualty numbers.

"Search and rescue teams are still looking for around 30 more soldiers who have gone missing since the attack," the officer added.

ISWAP fighters on Friday launched an assault on the base at Mararrabar Kimba, 135 kilometres (85 miles) from the state capital Maiduguri.

The fighters, reportedly driving over a dozen pickup trucks with heavy machine guns welded onto the back, were accompanied by three armoured personnel carriers and flanked by a fleet of button men firing from cycle of violences.

Some soldiers scattered into the bush to escape.

A second officer confirmed the toll of five dead.

"There are high hopes the missing soldiers will be found -- or will find their way back," he added. "We are not thinking of the worst scenario."

There was no immediate official response from the army.

The decade-long jihadist conflict has killed tens of thousands of people and forced millions from their homes.

The violence has spread to neighbouring Niger, Chad and Cameroon
...a long, narrow country that fills the space between Nigeria and Chad on the northeast, CAR to the southeast. Prior to incursions by Boko Haram nothing ever happened there...
, prompting a regional military coalition against the jihadists.

In recent weeks, coalition forces involving Nigeria, Chad and Cameroon have been pounding bad boy hideouts in the Lake Chad areas with Arclight airstrikes, as well as launching ground assaults.

The ISWAP faction split from the main Boko Haram group in 2016, but there are reports the two groups might be merging back together.
Goody.
Nigerian army chief Lieutenant-General Tukur Buratai last week warned of an ISWAP-Boko Haram alliance to carve out a jihadist enclave stretching from Nigeria's northeast into the wider Lake Chad region.

Alleged spy tied to Jamal Khashoggi killing found dead in prison
More on this story from yesterday.
[NYPOST] An alleged spy from the United Arab Emirates under investigation for the killing of dissident Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi was found dead in his Ottoman Turkish prison cell, according to a report on Monday.
"journalist"
Prison wardens found the man, identified as Zaki Y.M. Hassan, hanged inside his solitary cell in Istanbul’s Silivri prison and launched an investigation into his death, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing Ottoman Turkish prosecutors.

Ottoman Turkish state media said Hassan died by suicide.

Authorities in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...Qatar's colony in Asia Minor....
were investigating Hassan and another man in connection with Khashoggi’s killing last October at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul by Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
n operatives.

The two men arrived in Turkey after Khashoggi’s Oct. 2 killing and were detained on April 15.

They confessed to spying for the United Arab Emirates.

Ottoman Turkish state media said the two were collecting information about Arab nationals living in Turkey and were trying to recruit people for a surveillance network.

Prosecutors in Turkey offered no details about Hassan, his age, or his nationality.

They didn’t identify the second suspected spy.
The Times of Israel adds:
The Kan public broadcaster named the man as Zaki Hasan and published a photo of what it said was his passport, which gave his place of birth as Ramallah.
An image of Mr. Hasan’s passport can be seen at the link, giving his birthdate as 15-06-1963, the date of issuance as 25-11-2018, and his profession as retired.

Not just in Rotherham: Little girl groomed, raped and abused by multiple MUSLIM men, court told
[ExaminerLive] The girl was targeted in Huddersfield by two men who are currently on trial at Leeds Crown Court

A vulnerable little girl was groomed, raped and abused by multiple men throughout her childhood starting from the age of 11, a jury has heard.

The victim was targeted in Huddersfield 'by men who wanted to use her for their own sexual purposes', prosecutors told Leeds Crown Court on Monday.

It was said that the girl was 'alone in the world' and had no ability to make decisions about sex when she was groomed.

Opening the trial of Huddersfield men Mohammed Akram and Usman Khalid, Richard Wright QC, prosecuting, told the jury: "We say that both of the men in the dock had sexual contact with her when she was just 12 and they knew how old she was.

"They each, on separate occasions, took her out of the children's home where she was living without permission and with a sinister, ultimately sexually motivated, purpose."

Mr Wright said the girl was groomed in the Huddersfield area of West Yorkshire.

Akram and Khalid went on trial on Monday along with two women - Shahnaz Malik, 57, of St Anne's Avenue, Huddersfield, and Naveeda Habeeb, 40, of Prince Wood Lane, Huddersfield - who are both charged with child cruelty.

Akram, 33, of Springdale Street, Huddersfield, denies five counts of rape, sexual assault, abducting a child and trafficking for sexual exploitation.

Khalid, 31, of Brook Street, Huddersfield, denies sexual assault and child abduction.

US Navy says IRGC spy footage is ‘years old’
[ALMASDARNEWS] US Navy spokesperson Chloe Morgan told AFP that the video of the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, recently released by Iran’s Tasnim News Agency, "appears to be several years old" and was probably filmed during the ship’s last visit to the Gulf.

The video in question shows an Iranian drone taking off from an air base and then shows the deck of the US carrier in detail, highlighting the aircraft on board. It also showed an accompanying US military vessel. Tasnim News Agency stated that the video was released by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and claimed that it was shot in the Persian Gulf.

The Nimitz-class nuclear-powered carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower was last seen in the Gulf in 2016. Back then, Iran released a video of the USS Harry S. Truman carrier, allegedly also filmed by a drone.

The publication took place days after the Iranian parliament on 23 April designated CENTCOM a terrorist organization and imposed sanctions against Washington, which Tehran accused of pursuing "hostile policies" against the country. The decision came in response to a similar move by the US, which designated Tehran’s IRGC a terrorist organization on 15 April.

Bilateral relations between the US and Iran have been spiralling downwards since Washington withdrew from the Iranian nuclear deal on 8 May 2018 and imposed harsh sanctions against the country’s economy half a year later.

Tehran and other signatories to the deal slammed the US decision and pledged to continue adhering to the agreement’s provisions.

Israeli hikers come under fire in West Bank; soldiers shoot suspected gunman
[IsraelTimes] IDF says soldiers heard gunshots while guarding tour bus near Mevo Dotan settlement, open fire at two suspects, injuring one.

Israeli troops shot up a pair of Paleostinian men suspected of shooting at a group of hikers in the northern West Bank on Monday, the military said.

One of the suspects was maimed. No Israelis were maimed in the exchange.

The second suspect expeditiously departed at a goodly pace, and Israeli troops launched a manhunt to find him, according to a statement sent to residents of a nearby settlement.

The man later turned himself, the army said.

According to the message sent to residents of the Mevo Dotan settlement, the shots were fired at a group of hikers near the Tel Dotan archaeological site, west of the Paleostinian village of Qabatiya.

The Israel Defense Forces said the troops, who were guarding the tour group, "saw two suspects shoot at them. They returned fire at the suspects. One of them was injured and taken to the hospital for medial treatment."

The extent of the Paleostinian’s injuries was not immediately known.

The second suspect expeditiously departed at a goodly pace. Paleostinian media reported that Israeli security forces established checkpoints and increased patrols throughout the northern West Bank following the exchange.

Several hours later, the man surrendered himself for arrest.

"Following searches by IDF troops in the region, the suspect turned himself in to security forces. He is now being handed over [to the Shin Bet security service] for interrogation," the army said in a statement.
