Biden says power plants have to reduce pollution by 90% or shut down: EPA announces strict guidelines for green agenda that has already sparked backlash from Republicans and Democrat Joe Manchin
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • The Biden administration is proposing new limits on greenhouse gas emissions from coal and gas-fired power plants

  • It's the most ambitious effort yet to roll back planet-warming pollution from the nation's second-largest contributor to climate change

  • A rule to be unveiled Thursday by the Environmental Protection Agency could force power plants to capture smokestack emissions

-Short Attention Span Theater-
NY Democrats clear another Republican seat
[FoxNews] George Santos in custody, federal indictment unsealed ahead of first court appearance. Rep. George Santos, R-N.Y., to make first court appearance on Wednesday.

The federal indictment against Rep. George Santos, R-N.Y., was unsealed Wednesday ahead of his first court appearance on federal charges.

A 13-count indictment was made public Wednesday in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York charging the congressman with seven counts of wire fraud, three counts of money laundering, one count of theft of public funds, and two counts of making materially false statements to the House of Representatives.

The indictment was returned Tuesday under seal by a federal grand jury sitting in Central Islip, New York. Santos was arrested Wednesday morning and will be arraigned in the afternoon before U.S. Magistrate Judge Arlene R. Lindsay at the federal courthouse in Central Islip. He currently is being held at that federal courthouse.

"This indictment seeks to hold Santos accountable for various alleged fraudulent schemes and brazen misrepresentations," U.S. Attorney Breon Peace said in a statement. "Taken together, the allegations in the indictment charge Santos with relying on repeated dishonesty and deception to ascend to the halls of Congress and enrich himself. He used political contributions to line his pockets, unlawfully applied for unemployment benefits that should have gone to New Yorkers who had lost their jobs due to the pandemic, and lied to the House of Representatives. My Office and our law enforcement partners will continue to aggressively root out corruption and self-dealing from our community’s public institutions and hold public officials accountable to the constituents who elected them."

Santos, who also goes by Anthony Devolder, unsuccessfully ran in 2020 to represent New York’s Third Congressional District but was victorious his second time around in 2022. He was sworn in on Jan. 7, 2023, mere days after the New York Times exposed that Santos allegedly fabricated larges swathes of his résumé, including that he had worked for two major Wall Street firms, graduated from Baruch College and was a descendant of a Holocaust survivor. The Times reported Santos was also facing pending fraud charges in his native Brazil.

In January, the local Nassau County GOP demanded Santos resign, namely taking issue with the freshman congressman allegedly lying about his Jewish ancestry, but he refused. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, hanging onto a narrow Republican majority, said Santos would be removed if a House Ethics probe revealed he violated campaign finance laws.

"As a retired NYPD Detective, I am confident the justice system will fully reveal Congressman Santos' long history of deceit, and I once again call on this serial fraudster to resign from office," Rep. Anthony D'Esposito, a fellow Republican freshman congressman whose district borders Santos', said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

Asked by Fox News on Wednesday about Santos' indictment, Rep. Marcus Molinaro, R-N.Y., remarked in the corridors of Capitol Hill, "I can't wait for him to be gone."

Rep. Nick LaLota, R-N.Y., expressed a similar sentiment off-camera.

The DOJ indictment alleges that at the height of the pandemic in 2020, Santos applied for and received unemployment benefits while he was earning an annual salary of $120,000 from a Florida investment firm and running for Congress in New York. He alleged received more than $24,000 in unemployment insurance benefits from the New York State Department of Labor.

Santos' alleged behavior continued during his second run for Congress when he allegedly pocketed tens of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions and laundered it into his own bank accounts to pay down personal debts and buy designer clothing. Santos is also accused of lying on House financial disclosures about income and dividends earned through Devolder Organization LLC, based out of Florida, and unemployment benefits.

House GOP leadership used their weekly press conference Wednesday to blast the Biden administration ahead of the expiration of Title 42 later this week, but also responded to questions about Santos. Rep. Steve Scalise, R-La., noted that Santos no longer is serving on committees, saying that "in America, there is a presumption of innocence, but there are serious charges, and he’s going to have to go through the legal process."

"As I’ve said from the very beginning on questions on this subject, this legal process is going to play itself out. Unfortunately, this is not the first time a member of Congress from either party has been indicted," Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., said. "There are a set of rules. And as the Majority Leader stated, he voluntarily had stepped down from his committees. We are committed to making sure that we root out any fraud when it comes to unemployment pandemic assistance. And we’re working to have support from our conference. And it’s good policy, and we urge the Democrats to vote in support of it."

Santos' court appearance is scheduled for approximately 1 p.m. ET.

Biden energy secretary doubles down on electrifying US military's vehicle fleet by 2030
Department of Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm said Wednesday that she supports efforts from the Biden administration to require the U.S. military to implement an all-electric vehicle fleet by 2030, telling lawmakers that she believes "we can get there."
As far as I know, Granholm has no military experience. Apparently the current crop of military leaders doesn't have the testicular fortitude to explain things to her. A unit might need to change position at any time, without warning. Having all its vehicles charging will make that impossible. Also, I'm trying to imagine the size of the electric motor and battery pack combo required to move just an old-fashioned M114 APC, much less twenty seven and a half tons of Bradley IFV or fifty five tons of M1 tank.
Granholm's remarks came during a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing following questions from Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, who asked the Biden administration official whether she supports the military's adoption of an "EV fleet by 2030."

"I do, and I think we can get there, as well," Granholm said. "I do think that reducing our reliance on the volatility of globally traded fossil fuels where we know that global events like the war in Ukraine can jack up prices for people back home... does not contribute to energy security."

"I think energy security is achieved when we have homegrown, clean energy that is abundant like you see in Iowa," Granholm added. "We think we can be a leader globally in how we have become energy independent."

A fleet of electric vehicles for the military — which Ernst referred to as an "expensive, unreliable product" — will reportedly cost billions of dollars.

Granholm's comments come amid a push from those at the top to put forth green energy
... the attempt to produce energy without using fossil fuel. The preferred methods are solar, wind, geothermal, phlogiston, philosophers' stones, and rattling bears' teeth. The approach with the most promise involves attaching generators to perpetual motion machines, but using Words of Power to summon energy-rich demons may also work. The green in the term refers to the vast number of dollars that have been thrown at the problem since 1973 with indifferent results...
solutions during a time of uncertainty and foreign conflict, such as Russia's war with Ukraine and the ongoing tension between China and Taiwan.

Earlier this month, President Biden signed an executive order "further embedding environmental justice into the work of federal agencies to achieve real, measurable progress that communities can count on."

Titled "Revitalizing Our Nation’s Commitment to Environmental Justice for All," Biden's order, according to the White House, makes it "clear that the pursuit of environmental justice is a duty of all executive branch agencies and should be incorporated into their missions."

The Biden administration also announced the same day the order was signed that it had published the first-ever "Environmental Justice Scorecard," which was described by the White House as "the first government-wide assessment of federal agencies’ efforts to advance environmental justice."

A former Illinois State Senator convicted in corruption scheme gets a new job — state lobbyist
[WBEZ.ORG] Eleven days after serving a federal prison term for corruption, a former Illinois politician from reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
...home of Al Capone, the Chicago Black Sox, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel...
’s western suburbs registered as a state government lobbyist last month, according to federal and state records.

Ex-state Sen. Thomas Cullerton, a Democrat from Villa Park, pleaded guilty last summer in federal court to embezzling funds from a labor union and was sentenced to more than a year in prison.

But he enjoyed early release after about seven months behind bars on April 14, according to the federal Bureau of Prisons.

Now, state records show Cullerton registered on April 25 as a lobbyist with Strategia Consulting of Itasca, a public relations and government affairs firm whose current client list includes two western suburban municipalities.

How US President, Biden's Family Received Over $10million From Foreign Nationals, Tried To Hide Source Of Funds — House Committee
[SAHARAREPORTERS] The House Oversight and Accountability Committee has stated that United States President, Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. Former Senator-for-Life from Delaware, an example of the kind of top-notch Washington intellect to be found in the World's Greatest Deliberative Body....
, his family and his business associates created more than 20 companies and received more than $10 million from foreign nationals while Biden served as vice president, and that some of these payments could indicate attempts by the Biden family to "peddle influence."

Committee Chairman, James Comer, released a memo ahead of his presser Wednesday that includes new information from his investigation into the Biden family’s "influence peddling and business schemes."

The memo said the Biden family appeared to take steps to "conceal the source and total amount received from the foreign companies."

The committee has subpoenaed four different banks as part of its probe and received "thousands of records in response." Those subpoenas were "tailored to specific individuals and companies that engaged in business activities with Biden family members and their business associates," the memo said.

It said Biden family members and business associates "created a web of over 20 companies — most were limited liability companies formed during Joe Biden’s vice presidency."

The committee said those companies were formed mostly in Delaware and Washington, D.C., with the help of Hunter Biden’s business partners Rob Walker and James Gilliar.

"After assuming the vice presidency in 2009, records reveal Hunter Biden and his business associates formed at least 15 companies," the memo said. Those companies include Lion Hall Group LLC; Owasco P.C.; Robinson Walker, LLC; Skaneateles, LLC; Seneca Global Advisors, LLC; Rosemont Seneca Partners, LLC; Rosemont Seneca Principal Investments LLC; Rosemont Seneca Bohai, LLC; Hudson West III, LLC; Hudson West V, LLC; CEFC Infrastructure Investment (US) and others.

"Bank records show the Biden family, their business associates, and their companies received over $10 million from foreign nationals’ companies," the memo said, adding that the committee identified payments to Biden family members from foreign companies "while Joe Biden served as Vice President and after he left public office."

"The Biden family used business associates’ companies to receive millions of dollars from foreign companies," the memo said, adding that the Biden family "received incremental payments over time to different bank accounts."

"In some instances, Biden associates would receive significant deposits from foreign sources into their bank accounts and then transfer smaller, incremental payments to Biden bank accounts," the memo said. "These complicated and seemingly unnecessary financial transactions appear to be a concerted effort to conceal the source and total amount received from the foreign companies."

It said Chinese nationals and companies "with significant ties to Chinese intelligence and the Chinese Communist Party hid the source of the funds by layering domestic limited liability companies."

The committee says it is investigating "the opaque corporate structure of particular Biden-affiliated companies, those companies’ complicated connections with each other, whether these companies maintained books and records, and why certain foreign nationals sought to partner with and engage in businesses with specific Biden family members and their companies."

It said it already sees signs that the Biden family may have collected money from foreign nationals trying to influence U.S. policy. For example, the committee said it discovered that Hunter Biden, through his associate Rob Walker, received more than $1 million from a foreign company reportedly controlled by Gabriel Popoviciu, the subject of a criminal probe and prosecution for corruption in Romania. Then-Vice President Biden met with Romanian leaders in 2014 and 2015 "regarding corruption in the country."

FBI Used Congressional Staff as Confidential Informants and Human Assets to Build Case Against Congressman George Santos
[THECONSERVATIVETREEHOUSE] Congressman George Santos was indicted on thirteen counts of wire fraud, money laundering, theft of public funds and lying on financial disclosure forms during his short period in Congress. He was taken into custody Wednesday in New York.

By most accounts and even his own words, Santos is a generally sketchy person, and I doubt there will be too many defenders of his character or the issues at stake. However,
corruption finds a dozen alibis for its evil deeds...
all of that said, this Tweet from a staffer in his office is wild:

The casual nature of this is quite alarming. It was not that long ago when the EXECUTIVE branch, using confidential human sources to investigate the LEGISLATIVE branch, would have been a matter of incredible controversy reserved for only the most serious of criminal possibilities.

An FBI informant penetrating the congressional office to relay information back to the FBI is quite remarkable. However,
corruption finds a dozen alibis for its evil deeds...
it appears we are in an era of justice administration where anything is just flippantly asserted inside the mechanisms of government.

In the big picture, beyond the selfish issues of George Santos, when we consider the Fourth Branch of Government operating to protect itself against sunlight and scrutiny, this example of the FBI operating in the shadows of congress should start to make everyone uncomfortable. How can there be "checks" and balances, when the enforcement mechanisms can be deployed against any entity who threatens the system itself?

Extend this approach to legislative committee oversight, and you start to see how the system protects itself. A reminder below of what they are ultimately protecting.

Read this as many times as needed to contemplate the nature of our problem.

Former FBI Director JamesThe spine of the FBI is the rule of law Comey
The disgraced, except in his own mind, former head of the FBI...
openly admitted to Congress on March 20, 2017, how the FBI, FBI Counterintelligence Division, DOJ and DOJ-National Security Division, together with the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) and the CIA, had been conducting independent investigations of Donald Trump for over a year without informing Congress [the Gang of Eight]. When asked the question, Comey winced, then justified the lack of informing Go8 oversight by saying, “um, because of the sensitivity of the matter?”

Stupidly, Congress never pressed James Comey on that issue. The arrogance of Comey was astounding, and the acceptance by Congress was infuriating. However, that specific example highlighted just how politically corrupt the system had become. In essence, Team Obama usurped the entire design of congressional oversight…. and Congress just brushed it off.

Chaffetz: Joe And Hunter Biden Basically Committed ''Treason''
[REALCLEARPOLITICS] JASON CHAFFETZ: This is corruption at the highest level, to not only enrich the Biden family en masse, but also corruption that is an intelligence security risk for the United States of America.

If you look at the money and size, particularly in China, we are talking about people with direct ties to the highest levels of the Chinese government where Hunter Biden is involved and engaged in securing, for instance, one of the biggest cobalt mines in the world.

So Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. S I'm not working for you. Don't be such a horse's ass....
goes with Hunter Biden to China in 2013, and less than two weeks after they return from that trip, suddenly Hunter Biden gets all of this money? Are you kidding me? What other evidence do we need of treason and those types of things?

And don't tell me that Joe Biden is oblivious to this. At one point Joe Biden is going on Air Force Two with Hunter Biden and Hunter Biden brings his business partner Jeff Cooper on the flight and there are direct emails saying we want to do business when we land in Mexico.

As it relates to what is going on in Romania, how in the world can they justify? This guy in Romania was convicted of bribery. And so he engages the U.S. Firm, which just happens to be Hunter Biden, to lean on the Department of Justice to make sure that they can reduce the sentencing and the prosecution there in Romania. Louis Freeh, the former F.B.I. Director under Clinton, says thank you to Biden and deposits $1 hundred thousand in the Biden grandkids' account.

What other evidence does the media need and does Congress need?

If they just brush this under the rug and don't pay any attention to it and don't ask the president, that White House press room should erupt this afternoon. Anything short of that is just so bad.

#1  Not sure why we need quotes around treason. If Joe is serving the aims of international interests to the detriment of the American people while holding a public office, it is treason. The leftists can have Websters edit their definition all they want, but the fundamental truth remains. Joe should one day walk up on a stage that he won’t need directions to exit.
Posted by: Super Hose || 05/11/2023 6:32 Comments || Top||

#2  Well, I guess it depend how we should define "treason".

Treason refers to the betrayal of one’s own country by attempting to overthrow the government through waging war against the state or materially aiding its enemies.

Are we at war with China (forget even about a declared one)? No.

China is the 2nd or 3rd largest trading partner of the US, if I recall correctly. Pretty tough to claim "enemy" status.

The Bidens pocketed $1M from 'corrupt' Romanian oligarch just as VP Joe lectured country on ethics
[NYPOST] The House Oversight Committee revealed Wednesday that more than $1 million flowed from a corrupt Romanian businessman to the Biden family while then-Vice President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. Former Senator-for-Life from Delaware, an example of the kind of top-notch Washington intellect to be found in the World's Greatest Deliberative Body....
paid lip service to cleaning up corruption in the Eastern European nation.

"While Vice President Biden was lecturing Romania on anti-corruption policy, in reality he was a walking billboard for his son and family to collect money," committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) said at a morning presser.

Comer, flanked by other committee members, vowed that the panel would get to the bottom of President Biden’s involvement in the Romanian income and ventures in nations such as China, Russia and Ukraine with more subpoenas for bank and other records.

"We’ve never seen a presidential family receive these sums of money from adversaries around the world — we’re just talking about a couple of countries today," Comer said.

The presser focused on transfers to the Biden family from China and Romania — two countries where Joe Biden helped lead US policy during the Obama-Biden administration.

"I want to be clear: This committee is investigating President Biden and his family’s shady business deals that capitalize on Joe Biden’s public office and risked our country’s national security ... We believe that the president has been involved in this from the very beginning, obviously," Comer said.

"It would be hard for me to believe that Hunter Biden was so charismatic that he could convince foreign nationals to wire millions of dollars into not just his account but eight of his family members’ accounts," he added. "We believe that there was a return on the investment."

Hunter Biden’s association with Romanian businessman Gabriel Popoviciu is one of the Biden family’s lesser-known engagements with dodgy associates in countries where Joe Biden held sway as vice president.

In a 36-page memo Wednesday morning, the House committee cited subpoenaed bank records to describe how $3 million allegedly was transferred from Popoviciu’s Bladon Enterprises to Robinson Walker LLC — controlled by Hunter’s business partner Rob Walker — between November 2015 and May 2017.

Of the $3 million, the memo says roughly one-third — $1,038,627.08 — was transferred to bank accounts belonging to Hunter Biden, first daughter-in-law Hallie Biden, and an unnamed Biden family member.

CIA Solicited Signatures For Hunter Biden Laptop Letter, Congressional Testimony Shows
[THEFEDERALIST] The U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) both solicited signatures for and eventually approved the infamous 2020 letter claiming that the Hunter Biden laptop story was a Russian disinformation plot, recent congressional testimony suggests. According to a report to be released Wednesday by the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, multiple former U.S. intelligence officials testified under oath about the CIA’s involvement in the distribution of the letter, which was eventually signed by more than 50 former senior U.S. intelligence officials.

"One signer of the statement, former CIA analyst David Cariens, disclosed to the Committees that a CIA employee affiliated with the agency’s Prepublication Classification Review Board (’PCRB’) informed him of the existence of the statement and asked if he would sign it," the House investigative report notes. "The Committees have requested additional material from the CIA, which has ignored the request to date."

The Prepublication Classification Review Board (PCRB) is tasked with reviewing statements, letters, and books published by former intelligence personnel to determine whether the material contains any classified information that would need to be removed or redacted prior to publication.

In a March 5, 2023, email to congressional Sherlocks, Cariens stated that a CIA official tasked with reviewing and approving a memoir he planned to publish told him about the Hunter Biden laptop letter and even asked him if he would like to sign it.

Hunter Biden's 'Russian trace' of drugs and whores was invented by the CIA
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin

[ColonelCassad] This has never happened before and here it is again.

The House Committee of the US Congress found that the stories that the laptop with compromising evidence on Biden's son, the work of the Russian special services, were fabricated by the CIA as part of a cover operation for the growing scandal.

It is also worth noting that while the CIA fabricated stories about Russia, the mainstream media carried out a silent campaign by ignoring the materials from Hunter Biden's laptop, while Twitter and Facebook banned channels and deleted publications mentioning these materials, including publications of other American media.

This story is remarkable not only for the dirty linen of the Biden family (it will be actively hung up before the elections anyway). Everything is really great here.

1. "Free" media actively implemented state censorship throughout the United States.

Freedom of opinion is for whom freedom of opinion is needed.

2. The CIA systematically worked to disinform American society within the United States. (you will see somewhere a degenerate reproducing a cliche - the CIA does not work inside the USA - chase him, mock him) the son of a drug addict, by fabricating false versions with the help of special services, and all pocket media ignore this story and block its distribution.

Along the way, false accusations of harassment are fabricated against the main opponent, and the judiciary and the prosecutor's office pretend to be a hose amid accusations from Congress that the whole family received money from lobbyists and foreign states.

Biden Backs Down on Debt Ceiling
[TOWNHALL] Speaking to news hounds after an event in New York Wednesday afternoon, President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. SOld, boring, a plagiarist, fond of hair sniffing and grabbing the protruding parts of women, and not whatcha call brilliant... or is that an act?...
indicated he's willing to push aside his demands for a "clean" debt ceiling increase and negotiate spending cuts with politicians on Capitol Hill.

"Do you feel more optimistic about a deal today that you did yesterday?" a news hound asked.

"Sure," Biden responded, adding that he wants to look at specific spending cuts Democrats and Republicans can agree on.

The President also said would consider skipping his planned trip to the G7 next week in Japan in order to get a deal done. He met with congressional leadership, including House Speaker Kevin McCarthy
...the GOP house majority whip. He replaces Eric Cantor, who got whupped because his politix are like Kevin McCarthy's...
, at the White House Tuesday afternoon.

CA Gov. Newsom Walks Back Cash Reparations Promise, Suggests 'Systemic Changes' Instead
[OANN] Governor Gavin can't be Bee'd Newsom
...mayor of San Franciscoas it transformed itself into Poopville, currently governor of Californiaas it transforms itself into Cinderland...
has declined to support the monetary payments that his reparations task committee suggested, which would have totaled up to $1.2 million for a single recipient.

Newsom (D-Calif.) told the press that addressing the legacy of slavery "is about much more than cash payments."

"The Reparations Task Force’s independent findings and recommendations are a milestone in our bipartisan effort to advance justice and promote healing. This has been an important process, and we should continue to work as a nation to reconcile our original sin of slavery and understand how that history has shaped our country," Newsom said in a statement.

The task force’s work was praised by the Democrat governor, but he chose not to support any particular proposals, however, he did pledge to "advance systemic changes that ensure an inclusive and equitable future for all Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,ns."

"Dealing with that legacy is about much more than cash payments. Many of the recommendations put forward by the Task Force are critical action items we’ve already been hard at work addressing: breaking down barriers to vote, bolstering resources to address hate, enacting sweeping law enforcement and justice reforms to build trust and safety, strengthening economic mobility — all while investing billions to root out disparities and improve equity in housing, education, healthcare, and well beyond. This work must continue," the governor said.

"Following the Task Force’s submission of its final report this summer, I look forward to a continued partnership with the Legislature to advance systemic changes that ensure an inclusive and equitable future for all Californians," he continued.

"This has been a fool’s errand from the start," said James Gallagher, California Assembly Republican Leader.

In the task force’s suggestion, payments would be broken down by categories of prior discrimination. For example, from the early 1930s through the late 1970s, Black residents in California who were subject to redlining by banking institutions would receive $3,366 for each year they resided there, amounting up to $148,099. Additionally, for every year that Black Americans resided in California between 1970 and 2020, they could earn around $2,352 in compensation for having to endure over-policing and mass imprisonment. These payments could total to $115,260. If a Black Californian checked all the right boxes, the overall award could amount to $1.2 million.
