[American Crisis] Over the past two weeks, seven women have come forward with sexual harassment allegations against New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. The most recent woman to accuse him of misconduct said he had groped her at the governor’s mansion last year. The floodgates have most definitely opened and many of his longtime allies have abandoned him as people often do in situations like this.
On Friday, Sens. Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand issued a joint statement in which they called for Cuomo to resign. It read:
Confronting and overcoming the Covid crisis requires sure and steady leadership,
We commend the brave actions of the individuals who have come forward with serious allegations of abuse and misconduct. Due to the multiple, credible sexual harassment and misconduct allegations, it is clear that Governor Cuomo has lost the confidence of his governing partners and the people of New York. Governor Cuomo should resign.
Prior to their announcement, the majority of House lawmakers from the state, including Reps. Jerry Nadler and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, had called on Cuomo to quit.
Even the editors of the New York Times are on board. In a Saturday op-ed, they wrote:
The governor has lost his political allies and the public’s confidence. ... The reality is that Mr. Cuomo has now lost the support of his party and his governing partners. The Democrats who control the State Legislature appear willing to impeach him, to say nothing of the Republicans. New York’s congressional delegation and city leaders, key to his base, have called on him to resign.
Undergirding these specific accusations is the widespread description of his administration by many former aides as a toxic workplace in which Mr. Cuomo and others ruled by fear and emotional abuse — and drew women whom Mr. Cuomo saw as attractive closer into his orbit, actively encouraging them to wear heels and dress in tightfitting clothing whenever he was around. In New York politics, Mr. Cuomo’s bullying style was an open secret. But the public caught only a glimpse of the dangers of Mr. Cuomo’s behavior recently.
Certainly I agree that if these allegations are true, Cuomo should step down. However, in my opinion, the far worse charges against the Governor involve his handling of the COVID-19 crisis.
A man who would put women in such uncomfortable positions, especially when several of them were his subordinates, is disrespectful, rude and quite simply a pig. But a man who would force nursing homes to take COVID-infected patients into their facilities, knowing how vulnerable most residents were and how easily the virus could be spread, is in a whole different league.

Cuomo might wanna get out while the gettin's good. With people like Schumer calling for my resignation I'd be wondering how good my security is. We all know it isn't just the women.

Maybe Meghan could start with something a bit more modest. Like, if Diane Feinstein is compelled to resign, the Duchess could persuade Newsom to appoint her to the Senate. And, of course you know, there are all kinds of ways to persuade a guy like Newsom...that is, if he can beat the recall.

[Just The News] House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said on Thursday the $86 billion bailout for failing union-managed pensions in President Biden's $1.9 trillion coronavirus stimulus plan was "for the children."
The American Rescue Plan, the second largest stimulus package in U.S. history, was passed in the Democratic-led House on Wednesday.

And as BofA's team of analysts parses exactly how millions of Americans will spend this money (will they buy washing machines and toasters? Or dump it into crypto/GME?), Bloomberg is out with a chilling report alerting Americans to the inevitable reality that President Biden is about to switch gears from spending to fundraising.
Of course, we use that term loosely: Despite the fact that Biden just shelled out another $1.85 trillion to finance a third round of stimulus checks (not to mention hundreds of billions in handouts to states and municipalities), his administration isn't raising money to pay for that. Instead, they're looking to finance a Democratic "New New Deal".
Breaking with his former boss, Barack Obama (who signed legislation to make most of the Bush-era tax cuts permanent), Biden is embarking on what could be the biggest federal tax hike since 1993 (remember 'no new taxes'?) to finance an infrastructure plan, Biden's climate-change initiatives, health care and economic inequality.

[Federalist] Failed Democratic congressional candidate Rita Hart is pushing onward with a challenge to her lost election last fall to freshman Republican Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks who was sat in the lower chamber in January. Miller-Meeks was certified the winner by state election officials by six votes.
Hart, however, bypassed state avenues for challenging elections and instead appealed her case directly to the House of Representatives, which may determine its own membership. House Democrats on the Administration Committee greenlit a probe into the Iowa contest Wednesday.
On Thursday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who chose in December to seat Miller-Meeks despite the ongoing challenge launched by Hart, threatened there’s still a chance the House would overturn the Iowa result to add one more Democrat to a razor-thin majority. Pelosi currently presides over the slimmest majority of her congressional career with a nine-vote advantage over House Republicans.

[NYPOST] Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa will officially launch his long-anticipated bid for the Republican nomination for mayor on Monday morning, his campaign said.Sliwa plans to use the appearance outside Penn Station on Monday to call on all other mayoral candidates to sign onto a letter demanding Gov. Andrew Sonny Cuomo’s immediate resignation.
Sliwa, who registered as a mayoral candidate on Feb. 17, plans to run on a slogan of "Save our City," the campaign said.
His platform will include the reversal of budget cuts enacted against the NYPD in the aftermath of anti-cop protests last year.
Other campaign priorities include "cleaning up the subway, and bringing businesses and tourism back to New York," a release said.
Sliwa launched the crime-fighting Guardian Angels group 40 years ago to patrol the subways and the streets in the days when Gotham was overrun by crime.

Their plan includes a 22.6 percent increase in spending — or $16.9 billion — over last year. That’s more than 10.5 percent higher than what Gov. Andrew Sonny Cuomo is proposing.
To help cover the new proposed expenses such as rent for "New Yorkers who do not have access to unemployment, federal stimulus funds and other assistance programs’’ — including illegal immigrants colonists — the pols said they want to raise the nearly $7 billion in new revenue through the taxes.

California’s Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum is ostensibly calling for the "decolonization" of American society so that we can "build new possibilities for a post-racist, post-systemic racism society," City Journal contributing editor Christopher Rufo wrote on Wednesday. "SCOOP: California’s proposed ’ethnic studies’ curriculum calls for the ’decolonization’ of American society and has students chant to the Aztec god of human sacrifice. The solution, according to one author, is a ’countergenocide’ against white Christians."

Students are taught chants to the ancient Aztec gods in order to make them better "warriors" for social justice. One of the gods mentioned in the chants is Huitzilopochtli, who is the god of human sacrifice. Part of the chant reads: "Tezkatlipoka, Tezkatlipoka, x2 smoking mirror, self-reflection Tezkatlipoka." The curriculum describes the chant: "In Lak Ech translates as you are my other me and relates to our habit of mind, empathy, and also compassion, interdependence, ecology, love, and mutual respect."
