[American Thinker] The anti-Israel, pro-Palestinian, and conflated pro-Hamas antisemitism on university campuses in America is astounding. Spitting on, threatening, intimidating, and menacing Jewish fellow students is beyond unacceptable and symptomatic of a malignant antisemitic spiritual plague in America — a scourge that is emerging after festering in the political, social, and collective spiritual marrow of America for many decades. The most shameful aspect of this is that universities are one of the roots.
The other political-social taproot of this American antisemitism is the subliminal and liminal anti-Israel messages of politicians like Barack Obama and the likes of radical leftist politicians of the Squad. It might have helped our country and the world at the time if Barack Obama and the Squad had praised and promoted the Abraham Accords.
It is one thing to vigorously disagree with Israel policies. But after the ghastly, evil attack of Hamas on October 7, 2023, and Israel’s declaration of war on Hamas, it is a pure expression of evil terrorism for a university student or other American to say, "I am Hamas" or to threaten more murderous attacks on Israeli citizens or American Jews. American politicians’ silence or advocacy of moral equivalency on the Hamas issue says volumes.
WHAT ARE THE SOCIAL-PSYCHOLOGICAL ORIGINS AND DYNAMICS OF STUDENT ANTISEMITISM?
As a teenager, I vividly recall my rebellion against my parents’ rules, their authority, their strict religious beliefs, and the connection to rules about my dress and behavior. I had adolescent heroes and antiheroes. None was ever an antisemite.
As a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, I have had some understanding of adolescent rebellion. I studied Anna Freud’s work and admired her observation that adolescents can become enthusiastic about community activities at times and at other times long for solitude. They can be submissive to a chosen leader or defiant to any authority. They can be extremely self-absorbed or materialistic and simultaneously idealistic (Freud, A., The Ego And Mechanisms of Defense, 1936) — but not, in my experience...violently antisemitic in their rebellion!
In my own work, I observed that al-Qaeda, ISIS, and other terror groups exploited adolescents by an appeal to expand and magnify "normal" adolescent rebelliousness toward a search for independent identity, even an extreme negative identity as a terrorist (Olsson, P., The Making of a Homegrown Terrorist, 2014). I hope Hamas infiltrators are not so using American university students today in America!
I can recall the violent university student rebellion against the Vietnam War, which grew deadly at Kent State and other locations. I agreed with the rebellion and defiance, but never the violence.
I have studied the Holocaust and support the emotionally charged 1948 admission of Israel as an independent state to the United Nations. I understand Natan Sharansky ending his recent essay in the April 26 Wall Street Journal, entitled, "The Fight for Freedom, From Exodus to Gaza," with these arresting words:
Let us, then, persist in hope and pray for the freedom of all the enslaved, captured, tyrannized, and oppressed. Let us also not forget that freedom is a precious gift, and that we must rise up to secure it every single day, in every generation.
Israeli warriors are so doing against Hamas, just as Sharansky says.

People can find reasons to justify all sorts of beliefs. There is, for many people, a strong shot of dopamine that the body produces when a person feels strong hate. That gives the mind an incentive to 'do it again'.
Of course you could just listen to some good music and eat chocolate to get the dopamine hit.

Why do we agree with that, or why do we allow that to happen?” If you say that, you are going to be attacked.
But the only other option then you have is saying nothing and have it happen, so the choice is yours, and I’ve made my choice. I think there are many ways in which you can defend yourself, of course, against this ridiculous attack, so I’m sure that they’re going say about me that I’m a terrible racist again. No, that’s not true. I don’t think that any race is superior to another. I just think that mine is also not inferior to that of others.

[Breitbart] The incompetence that guided Obamacare was on display recently when cyber hackers outsmarted UnitedHealth Group in late February. The division of UnitedHealth Group that transmits claims, Change Healthcare, was the subject of a ransomware attack, delaying payments for prescriptions, doctors, and everything else. The company performs 15 billion transactions per year, so the consequences of UnitedHealth ignoring adequate cybersecurity is proving disastrous.
The cyberattack is such a big deal that the Senate Finance Committee next week is holding a hearing on the subject, where they will (one hopes) hold the feet of UnitedHealth CEO Andrew Witty to the fire. The House Energy and Commerce Committee will hold a similar hearing on May 1.
The most obvious question to ask is, “How can you not afford decent cybersecurity?” UnitedHealth has been raking in record profits thanks to Obamacare. Last year, its net profits were $22.4 billion, and it’s in the running to become the first healthcare conglomerate with a $1 trillion market cap.
So, it seems like the company could afford some white hats. It increased premiums 13 percent last year.?
One of the reasons UnitedHealth pulls in its record profits is because it rations care. The company used AI to systemically deny benefits to people through an intermediary called NaviHealth. Insurance monopolies like UnitedHealth are increasingly trying to control every step of patient care, and technology is making that easy for them. So, if you’re one of the 52 percent of Americans worried about the future of AI, don’t worry: the bad stuff is already here.
It could get worse though.
From 2019 to 2022, AARP spent more than $60 million to push a “rent seeking” provision in the Inflation Reduction Act – legislation so dishonestly named that it makes the Affordable Care Act almost sound honest. This provision allows Medicare to engage in so-called “negotiations” with pharmaceutical manufacturers over prices. The problem is that making companies an offer they can’t refuse by imposing a 95 percent tax on them if they don’t agree isn’t a negotiation at all. And AARP’s victory lap article left it unsaid how these negotiation requirements would benefit private insurers who subsidize AARP. Moreover, the IRA expands subsidies under ACA to private insurance providers, which will help pad those billion-dollar profits even more.

It has rarely achieved outright political power; it rarely wins elections; but it exercises hegemony over culture and higher education, as well as the activist industry.
A short background review
...But their greatest success was the long march. Named for the Chinese communists’ legendary trek to northern China that ensured their survival and eventual takeover, the plan was simple: Conquer the universities, install radicals at all levels of faculty and administration, and then consolidate a totalitarian regime, a dictatorship of the professoriate, that would colonize and control the mind of America’s elite.
This takeover would be enabled by tactics drawn from the radical movements of the past: They would purge all dissenters by means fair or foul. Those they could not purge, they would ostracize and isolate. They would subject even those who remained neutral to rituals of public repentance and submission in the style of the Chinese Cultural Revolution—Mao’s brutal campaign against "ideological deviationism" that maimed and murdered thousands. If necessary, they would resort to outright violence and terrorism. In other words, they would construct and impose a suicide cult "by any means necessary."
Their success was spectacular and we are seeing the results today. As we speak, antisemitic mobs have conquered and colonized many of America’s most elite institutions of higher learning. They advocate terrorism and genocide; brutally intimidate, abuse, and physically attack Jewish students; and call for not just the destruction of Israel but the annihilation of America itself.
Even though all of this is a direct violation of these universities’ alleged codes of conduct, as well as numerous local, state, and federal laws, those who have the power to stop them have refused to do so. Many have endorsed the mob and more still are too terrified to take action against what they know to be evil. Sopranos star: "People are afraid to have those conversations, because first of all, you never win with a liberal, you're just never gonna win."
They have good reason. They know quite well that if they were to take effective action, if they were to enforce their own codes, laws, and alleged principles, they would have to expel large sections of their student bodies. They would have to fire equally large numbers of faculty. They would have to cleanse their administrations of enablers and collaborators. They would have to break the regime. This, they are utterly unwilling to do.
The reason is 1968. Even if they know that the mob is immoral and indeed monstrous, those who should know better—who do know better—are still ’68ers. They believe in the basic tenets of 1968ism: America is corrupted by racism, imperialism, patriarchy, and their attendant evils. Radical action is necessary to change this. There are no enemies to the left. The chickens come home to roost by any means necessary. Ideological deviationism cannot be tolerated. Ideological deviationism is whatever they happen to disapprove of at any given moment. If all else fails, exterminate all the brutes.
The result of all this is now clear: The ’68ers and the radical left as a whole have collapsed into something very like Nazism. Whatever their protestations otherwise, the parallels are obvious: Theirs is a minority movement that wields the mob to impose its ideology on the majority. It sees the past as compromised and corrupt and will redeem it by any means necessary. It looks to a glorious future of tyrannical virtue. It takes over institutions of education, government, and culture and uses them to destroy those institutions and impose a totalitarian regime. It is perfectly willing to use horrific violence to achieve this. Its capacity to tolerate dissent is nil. And now, it has embraced racism, antisemitism, and genocide. Exterminate all the brutes.
...In such a situation, however, an enemy must be found, a focus of all the inchoate energies of hate and violence buried deep in every human psyche. There must be someone to blame, a scapegoat for all the ills that the radicals have failed to overcome. And like the Nazis, they have found the ready victim, the eternal villain and the eternal scapegoat. They have found the Jews. And the Jews found E = mc^2.
This time, the Israel-Hamas conflict is the pretext for activists to block freeways, vandalize buildings and occupy universities.
Protesters took over Columbia University’s Morningside Heights campus, renaming it the Gaza Solidarity Encampment.
An estimated 800 students set up tents before replacing the American flag with a Hamas banner. They chanted Islamist slogans, told Jewish students to "go back to Europe" and menaced anyone who disagreed.
Being a prestigious Ivy League school (annual cost of nearly $90,000), Columbia administrators quickly shut down the unrest.
Just kidding, they canceled in-person classes, as during the pandemic. Seems $90K doesn’t buy what it used to.
This week, the occupation has spread to other campuses, including Harvard and Yale, where a Jewish student was stabbed in the eye.
Students tried a similar stunt at the University of Texas, but the Lone Star State wasn’t having it.
Although Columbia’s organizers have tried to keep out the press, videos have spread across social media. The anger and chaos recalls scenes from 1934 Germany.
What were initially sold as anti-Israel protests quickly dissolved into pro-Hamas, antisemitic mobs.
Although 2024’s target is new, at least for America, we’ve witnessed the same tactics summer after summer after summer. Only the cause has changed.
Every year presents a new excuse to hoist signs, spray-paint buildings and shatter glass. Let’s review recent history.
It's the latest in a string of causes to protest
In 2017, the Women’s March was launched in reaction to the #MeToo revelations, while in 2018, the anti-gun March for Our Lives dominated headlines. Neither attracted much violence; you could find that at anti-Trump protests.
In 2019, Greta Thunberg grimaced at the United Nations over climate change, which apparently was solved by blocking traffic and throwing tomato soup on Van Gogh paintings. This Monday was Earth Day, but it didn’t get much coverage. Environmentalism is so five years ago.
But those annoying COVID restrictions were put on hold back in 2020, just as the virus was at its peak. Black Lives Matter protests swamped cities from coast-to-coast, often peaceful during the day but turning ugly by night.
Downtown Seattle was turned into the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone while Portland burned for months.
What uproar are we planning for 2025?
One year, statues are toppled and the next, Jews are bullied, but it’s amazing how the far-left treats such wildly diverse issues with the same small toolbox.
It has ever been thus. As one radical wrote for a Students for a Democratic Society publication in the 1960s, "The issue is never the issue. The issue is always the revolution."
All the topics cited above are important issues for public debate. Sexism in the workplace to gun control to wars abroad, each is worthy of media attention, no matter the year.
What’s bizarre is the singular focus on one moral panic each summer to the exclusion of everything else. Earth Day was huge in 2019, while in 2022 it was met with a yawn.
Talking heads denounced guns in 2018; four years later, guns didn’t matter unless used by police.
These mass demonstrations used to be more localized, such as Occupy Wall Street or the unrest in Ferguson, Mo. Today, they are global, and the new cause is released with the regularity of a new car model’s marketing campaign.

“Top aides to President Biden secretly hatched a plan this past fall to replace White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre by recruiting outside allies to nudge her out the door, The Post has learned.
Jean-Pierre, who made history in May 2022 by becoming the first black and first openly gay person to hold the position, had developed the exasperating habit of reading canned answers directly from a binder to reporters at her regular briefings — offering what her superiors viewed as a less-than-compelling pitch for the 81-year-old Biden as he readied his re-election campaign.
De facto White House communications chief Anita Dunn, 66, the wife of Biden personal attorney Bob Bauer, told colleagues she had decided to call in prominent Democrats to explain to Jean-Pierre, 49, that the time was ripe to move on, sources told The Post.
‘There were a number of people she asked to engage Karine,’ said one source who heard of the strategy directly from Dunn, whose role as senior adviser has been filled during the past three presidencies by Jared Kushner (Donald Trump), Valerie Jarrett (Barack Obama) and Karl Rove (George W. Bush).
The source also told The Post that Dunn had claimed White House chief of staff Jeff Zients knew about and supported the cloak-and-dagger scheme to push Jean-Pierre out of the West Wing.
‘There was an effort to have some outside folks who Karine knows and trusts talk to her about why leaving last fall would have made a lot of sense for her and her career,’ the source said, calling it an ‘effort to encourage her to move along.’”
My speculative belief is that the Brandon entity’s handlers must have realized what they had stepped in as soon as KJP’s more competent predecessor, Jen Psaki, left to cosplay as a newswoman at MSNBC state media, and they were left with KJP as the obvious heir to the throne with no real escape hatch, given their professed fidelity to Equity™.

Joe Biden is losing a signature lieutenant, Richard Cordray, the guy who runs all his student loan shovel-outs and 'forgiveness' programs. He's quitting in June, in what's officially the end of his three-year term, not wanting another.
Rich Cordray, the Biden administration’s top student loan official who has been a key ally of progressives pushing for debt relief, will leave the Education Department at the end of June, the agency confirmed on Friday.
Cordray’s departure comes as the administration has been scrambling to recover from its troubled rollout of a new student aid system that delayed college financial aid offers for millions of families this spring and drew bipartisan criticism in Congress.
It's an odd departure, given that it leaves his successor just six months to clean up his agency before a new administration takes over. Lucky DEI hire.
It oversees a $1.6 Trillion portfolio of loans of which a huge number were assumed on bad faith where the borrower expected to default. Even of those that were on good faith a huge number will end in default.
This goes back to the Obama theory of taking banks and other private financial institutions out of the program. The theory was that doing this would allow the Federal Govt to reap the benefits of the deferred interest on the loans.
