Ghislaine Maxwell case details too ‘sensational and impure' for public, judge says
[NYP] A federal judge on Thursday agreed with Ghislaine Maxwell’s request to keep certain details in the criminal case against her secret — finding that information would be too "sensational and impure" to reveal to the public.

US District Judge Alison J. Nathan issued a ruling on redactions that Maxwell had asked for regarding transcripts the government filed under seal last month.

"Those portions of the transcript, which were redacted in the civil matter, concern privacy interests and their disclosure would merely serve to cater to a ’craving for that which is sensational and impure,’" Nathan wrote in the order.

The judge also granted redactions that prosecutors made when filing the transcript. Prosecutors had argued the redactions were necessary to "protect the integrity" of the investigation into Maxwell and to protect the privacy of third parties.

Baseball player arrested after police find 21 pounds of meth in Cubs bag
[NYPOST] A minor-league player in the reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
...home of Al Capone, the Chicago Black Sox, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel...
Cubs’ system was busted in Colorado after police discovered 21 pounds of meth and more than a pound of Oxycodone pills in a Cubs duffel bag in his car.
Given what the minor leagues pay, it’s not surprising the kid wanted to supplement his income...
Jesus Camargo Corrales, a 25-year-old Single-A pitcher, was arrested Wednesday in Eagle County, Colorado on four felony drug counts for possession and distribution, according to WGN-Chicago’s website.

Cops pulled over the pitcher, who goes professionally by Jesus Camargo, according to MILB.com, after they witnessed the silver BMW he was driving
...depending on the age of the car, that might have been a hint he was living beyond his baseball income...
drifting across lanes and speeding on Interstate 70.

The car was searched by the Eagle County Sherriff’s office and a K-9 unit discovered the duffel bag under the rear seat, which contained the drugs, as well as several baseball gloves, cleats and $1,000 in cash, according to WGN. Two other people were in the car, but they reportedly faced no charges. He told police he was driving from Arizona to Denver to teach at a baseball clinic.

Senior Teen Vogue staffer who supported Alexi McCammond's ousting used ‘N-word' in decade-old tweets
[Fox News] The left eats it's own: Christine Davitt MUST resign in disgrace. :-)
A senior Teen Vogue staffer who posted a letter expressing concern about Alexi McCammond for past tweets racist against Asian Americans used the N-word in tweets from over 10 years ago herself.
See? Anybody can use the wayback machine, bitch
Christine Davitt, senior social media manager at Teen Vogue in 2009 wrote two tweets to a friend identifying him as a "ni--a," and in 2010 used the word "ni--a" in a joke tweet. The friend appears to be White.
Davitt says in multiple tweets that she is of mixed Irish and Filipino descent.

McCammond, 27 and a rising reporter at Axios, had been set to take the top job at Teen Vogue before her past tweets set off a firestorm among Teen Vogue staff. After the Atlanta shooting that left eight dead Tuesday, six of them Asian American, McCammond and Teen Vogue parted ways.

Neither Davitt nor McCammond or Teen Vogue could immediately be reached for comment. Davitt's tweets had not been deleted as of this writing, but after Fox News' investigative reporting her account was switched from public to private.

Davitt on March 8 posted a letter on Instagram from Teen Vogue staff expressing concern to Conde Nast management about the hiring of McCammond, "in light of her past racist and homophobic tweets." "So proud of my @teenvogue colleagues. The work continues..." Davitt wrote in a caption

Sheriff Thomas Hodgson's ‘big win' over ICE detainees refused freedom due to coronavirus
[Boston Herald] A federal appeals court just handed Bristol Sheriff Thomas Hodgson a major victory over ICE detainees who pushed to get out of jail — including a convicted rapist who escaped from prison in Brazil.

The illegal immigrants who face deportation were ordered to remain locked up in the county jail, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit ruled.

"This is a big win. It really validates what sheriffs across the country are talking about," Hodgson told the Herald Friday. "It will send a clear message that public safety does matter."

Hodgson said the detainees arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement are being held in the Bristol County House of Correction in North Dartmouth. That’s where they will stay.

The appeals court ruled in a decision posted Thursday that the class action lawsuit by a dozen prisoners, with most already moved out, is denied. "Remedying overcrowding does not require releasing every detainee on bail," the decision states.

The court’s ruling adds that 42 inmates were released due to concerns about the coronavirus, but 19 were not. Steps were also taken to cap any new arrivals and take safety measures inside the jail.

"Granting bail under these circumstances ’requires individualized determinations, on an expedited basis, and ... should focus first on those who are detained pretrial who have not been charged with committing violent crimes," the decision states.

A lawyer for the ICE detainees, Sameer Ahmed from the Harvard Immigration and Refugee Clinical Program, could not be reached for comment.

The criminal records, the court stressed, were the overriding factor.

US ambassador tells her story of racism, schools Chinese but good
[The Hill] U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield and a Chinese diplomat clashed on Friday after Greenfield, who is Black, described her own experience with racism during a U.N. General Assembly meeting.

Thomas-Greenfield said at the meeting, meant to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, that while she has faced racism in her life, racism in countries like China has proven deadly.

"I know the ugly face of racism. I lived racism, I have experienced racism and I have survived racism," she said.

"Racism is the problem of the racist. And it is the problem of the society that produces the racist. And in today’s world that is every society," she continued.

"Racism was and continues to be a daily challenge wherever we are. And for millions, it’s more than a challenge. It’s deadly."

She pointed to Myanmar, "where Rohingya and others have been oppressed, abused, and killed in staggering numbers," and China, "where the government has committed genocide and crimes against humanity against Uighurs and members of other ethnic and religious minority groups in Xinjiang," a region in northwest China.

White House Says Biden Fell On ‘Very Windy' Day. Donald Trump Jr: Technically, It Was A ‘Moderate Breeze'
[WIRE] Donald Trump Jr. fact-checked the White House on Friday after a spokeswoman blamed President Joe Biden’s fall on the stairs of Air Force One on the wind.

White House Deputy Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said the weather was "pretty windy" when asked about Biden’s stumble while boarding Air Force One at Joint Base Andrews on his way to Atlanta. Video online shows Biden, 78, stumbling several times and falling once while walking up the stairs to board the plane before reaching the top, turning, saluting, and boarding.

"It’s pretty windy outside," Jean-Pierre told reporters aboard the plane. "It’s very windy. I almost fell coming up the steps myself. He is doing 100 percent fine."

Trump Jr. then pulled up a general weather report for Joint Base Andrews for Friday, showing that wind speeds were expected to average 14 miles per hour. He also pulled up a guide on wind speeds from the National Weather Service (NWS) showing that wind blowing 13 to 18 miles per hour is classified as a "moderate breeze."

"Wind moves small branches," the NWS description says. "Wind raises dust and loose paper from the ground and drives them along."
