Derek Chauvin tried to reach plea deal before arrest in George Floyd case, the two bumped heads at the club
[NYPOST] The former Minneapolis cop charged with murdering George Floyd had been negotiating a plea deal right up until the day before he was arrested, according to a report.

Derek Chauvin — the officer filmed with his knee on Floyd’s neck for almost nine minutes — was considering a possible “universal deal” with federal and state prosecutors, officials confirmed to Fox 9.

It would have included state murder charges as well as federal civil rights ones, sources familiar with the talks told the Minneapolis station.

George Floyd and Derek Chauvin "bumped heads" while working at nightclub, former coworker says

[CBS] As mourners in Houston honor the life of George Floyd in Minneapolis, CBS News is learning new details from a El Nuevo Rodeo nightclub coworker about alleged history between Floyd and Derek Chauvin, the former officer who is charged in Floyd's death. According to a former coworker, not only did they know each other, but they had a history of friction.

Floyd and Chauvin both worked security at a nightclub at the same time. Coworker David Pinney said the two men had a history.

"They bumped heads," Pinney said.

"How?" CBS News asked.

"It has a lot to do with Derek being extremely aggressive within the club with some of the patrons, which was an issue," Pinney explained.

The Floyd family says they believe what happened on May 25 was in part personal. Their lawyer has called for Chauvin to be charged with first-degree murder, "because we believe he knew who George Floyd was."
Then why call in the UN? Mr. Chauvin has been fired and is on trial for murder, which seems adequate punishment for a personal beef.
Maya Santamaria, the owner of the now protest-torched club,
...will real owner Muna Sabri choose to invest in rebuilding? The place reputedly was used for money laundering as well as the usual dance club activities, so that’s a double profit stream in what has become a much more risky location...
described how Chauvin treated black patrons when she talked to CBS News for the upcoming special "Justice for All."

Santamaria said she had been paying Chauvin, when he was off-duty, to sit in his squad car outside El Nuevo Rodeo for 17 years. She said Floyd worked as a security guard inside the club frequently in the last year. In particular, they both worked on Tuesday nights, when the club had a popular weekly dance competition.

"Do you think Derek had a problem with black people?" CBS News asked.

"I think he was afraid and intimidated," Santamaria said.

"By black folks?" CBS News clarified.

"Yeah," Santamaria confirmed.

#3  A man who worked at the same club with George Floyd and Derek Chauvin ... changed his story Wednesday, saying he had mistaken Floyd for another unnamed African-American employee.

"Because they all look alike?", he asked trying to make the most innocent of faces.

Somewhat more seriously, after hearing that they worked at the same club, I figured there was some history between Floyd and Chauvin. Something hinky about the video...

Like maybe Chauvin and Floyd were selling dope at the club, or Floyd tried to rip Chauvin off, or something like that. Just guessin...

-War on Police-
Personal info of US police officers leaked online
[IsraelTimes] Personal information of coppers in departments nationwide is being leaked online amid tense interactions at demonstrations across the US over the police custody death of George Floyd and others, according to an unclassified intelligence document from the US Department of Homeland Security, obtained by The News Agency that Dare Not be Named.

The document warns that the effort, known as "doxxing," could lead to attacks by "violent opportunists or domestic violent bad boys" or could prevent law enforcement officials from carrying out their duties.

Multiple high-ranking police officials in a number of cities, including Washington, Atlanta, Boston and New York have had their personal information shared on social media, including their home addresses, email addresses and phone numbers, the report warns.

"At least one of the police commissioners was targeted for his alleged support of the use of tear gas to disperse protests," it says.

Police officials nationwide have spoken out lately saying they feel caught in the middle of trying to stop violent protests, and feel abandoned by politicians in the demand for police reform. Some have said they fear for their lives.

Afghanistan
Taliban rumor: son of Mullah Mohammad Omar, the militant group’s founder, has taken control
That would be Mullah Yaqoob, more fully Mullah Mohammad Yaqoob, who has been acting as interim commander.
[Twitter]
From the referenced Foreign Policy article:
Indeed, as the Taliban move closer to a return to at least partial power in Kabul, thanks to a deal with the United States aimed at ending its war in Afghanistan, there are signs the jihadi movement is set to descend into an internal battle of its own, as rival factions and tribes fight for control of its vast financial and military assets.
Green on green is a wonderful idea — long may they do their best to kill each other off without fully succeeding.
At stake is close to $2 billion in annual revenues, a well-armed and battle-hardened militia, and alliances with international terrorist groups, including al Qaeda, eager to piggyback on the Taliban’s supposed victory over the United States and its allies and use Afghanistan, as it once again becomes an ungoverned space, for training and operational planning.

Europe
EU rejects any US attempt to invoke Iran nuclear deal to impose arms embargo
[IsraelTimes] As Washington seeks to call Security Council vote on matter after Tehran breached pact, EU’s top diplomat says it has no right because it withdrew from agreement.

The European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
’s top diplomat said Tuesday that since the United States has already withdrawn from an international agreement curbing Iran’s nuclear ambitions, it can’t now use its former membership in the pact to try to impose a permanent arms embargo on the Islamic Theocratic Republic.

The accord, which Iran

...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US...
pulled Washington out in 2018 and reinstated sanctions designed to cripple Tehran under what the US called a "maximum pressure" campaign.

The ineffective International Atomic Energy Agency, the UN nuclear watchdog, said Friday that Iran had accumulated enriched uranium at nearly eight times the limit under the nuclear deal, and has for months blocked inspections at sites where nuclear activity may have taken place.
Unexpectedly.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and US Ambassador to the United Nations
...where theory meets practice and practice loses...
Kelly Craft have said that extending a permanent UN backed arms embargo against Iran is now a top priority for Washington.

But speaking to news hounds Tuesday after talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell insisted that since the US has pulled out of the nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, it can no longer claim to have a role in it.

"The United States has withdrawn from the JCPOA, and now they cannot claim that they are still part of the JCPOA in order to deal with this issue from the JCPOA agreement. They withdraw. It’s clear. They withdraw," Borrell said.

On Monday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov accused the Trump administration of unleashing a politically motivated campaign against Iran and called for "universal condemnation" of the US attempt to get the UN Security Council to impose a permanent arms embargo.

The EU sees the nuclear deal as a key pillar of regional and world security, and has struggled to keep the pact alive despite US pressure. Borrell is tasked with supervising the way the pact is applied and to help resolve disputes between the parties.

Greece and Egypt prepare to block Turkish expansion in Mediterranean
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Italian Nova News Agency announced that the Greek Foreign Minister, Nikos Dendias, will visit Egypt on June 18 to resume negotiations with the Egyptian authorities on the agreement to demarcate the maritime borders between the two countries.

According to the agency, after signing an agreement to designate the exclusive economic zones between Greece and Italia, Dendias announced, in statements on Tuesday (June 9th), that he would visit Egypt to obtain a similar result.

According to the statements of the Greek Foreign Minister, the agreement reached on Tuesday between Italia and Greece to designate the economic zones "certainly angered Ottoman Turkish President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really more important...
," noting that Italia fully adopted an interpretation of international law as intended by Greece.

The Greek foreign minister also made it clear that only The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire...
insists on its "one-dimensional vision."

It is noteworthy to mention that the Foreign Ministers of Italia and Greece held a presser on Tuesday (June 8th) in Athens, after they signed an agreement to designate the economic zones between the two countries and establish an exclusive economic zone.

Egypt is seeking to block the agreement between the Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA) and Erdogan in the eastern Mediterranean, where Cairo and Athens agreed several months ago to accelerate the demarcation of the maritime borders between them, and the upcoming visit of the Greek Foreign Minister to Cairo comes at a very important time after the demarcation of the border between his country and Italia.

Egypt will be able to prospect for oil and gas in the western economic regions located on the sea borders with those of Greece.

Trump signs order imposing sanctions on International Criminal Court
[Arutz 7] - US President Donald Trump signed an executive order imposing sanctions on individuals involved in the International Criminal Court's (ICC) investigation into alleged US war crimes in Afghanistan Thursday.

A senior administration official said the investigation is "being pushed forward by an organization of dubious integrity," Reuters reported. The official further stated that the US government suspects that the court is being manipulated by Russia to launch the investigation against America.

The order authorizes US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to freeze assets of ICC officials involved in the investigation. In addition, Pompeo will be authorized to block these officials from entering the US.
Goodness, that’s direct.
President Trump also cited the ICC's war crimes investigations against Israel when signing the order.

"Despite our demand, the tribunal has also politically persecuted Israel, our ally," Trump said.

The Israeli government was aware that such an order would be forthcoming following Secretary Pompeo's visit to the Jewish State last month.

Pompeo delivered an unusually harsh statement against the ICC for launching investigations out of political motives.

"The International Criminal Court is a political body, not a judicial institution. This unfortunate reality has been confirmed yet again by the ICC Prosecutor's attempt to assert jurisdiction over Israel, which like the United States, is not a party to the Rome Statute that created the Court," Pompeo said.

Iraq
Iraqi Prime Minister vows to rebuild Mosul three years after ISIS evicted
[The National] Iraq will not allow a repeat of what happened in djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
, Prime Minister Mustafa Al Kadhimi said on Wednesday during a trip to the city that was overrun by ISIS in June 2014.

The visit marked six years since the forces of Evil seized Mosul, where liberation in July 2017 was followed by a period of neglect, which Mr Al Kadhimi blamed on the previous Iraqi government.

"We will not allow the repetition of what happened, and we carry out military operations to support security and stability in Mosul and to hunt down the remaining terror cells," Mr Al Kadhimi said.

The northern Iraqi city became the murderous Moslem group's de facto capital in the country between 2014 and 2017, before a grinding internationally-backed military campaign ousted them from the city.

Three years after the battle to liberate Mosul, much remains in ruins.

The Prime Minister sent a strong message to the world that Nineveh province, just like the rest of Iraq, must be rebuilt, especially after the suffering it endured under ISIS rule.

The battle for Mosul lasted almost nine months,

Large parts of the city were destroyed during the nine-month battle to liberate Mosul, which killed thousands of civilians and displaced more than 900,000 others.

Almost 8 million tons of rubble were left where historical buildings and architectural sites once stood alongside homes, schools and businesses.

But booby traps, mines and unwent kaboom! ordnance left by ISIS have hampered reconstruction efforts.

The neglect that Iraq has undergone is a direct result of former dictator Saddam Hussein’s rule and the governments that took over after the US-led invasion of 2003, the Prime Minister said during his visit.

His government has "inherited a heavy task" with little to no budget, which is a result of "mismanagement and corruption," he added.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Palestinian forces said ordered to hide files ahead of possible violence
[IsraelTimes] PA intelligence officers in 2 West Bank cities given order, last issued ahead of Second Intifada, amid fears of conflict following possible Israeli annexation.
Oh? How very interesting.
The Paleostinian Authority has ordered intelligence forces in at least two West Bank cities to hide many of their files in preparation for possible violence if Israel goes ahead with plans to annex parts of the West Bank, Channel 12 reported Tuesday.

The report noted the last time the PA took such a step was in September 2000 ahead of the outbreak of the Second Intifada, or uprising, which lasted several years and saw thousands of terror attacks and the IDF eventually reassert its overall security control throughout the West Bank.

Erekat: No need to declare Palestine a state, it already is one
[IsraelTimes] There is no need to declare a Paleostinian state, as Paleostine has already been legally defined as a state since 2012, chief PLO negotiator Saeb Erekat
...negotiated the Oslo Accords with Israel. He has been chief Paleostinian negotiator since 1995. He is currently negotiating with Israel to establish a de jure Paleostinian state...
tells Ynet news.

"There’s no declaration, we don’t need a declaration," Erekat says. "Our legal status is that we are a state under occupation. Resolution 67/19 of 2012 of the [United Nations

Erekat’s comments follow Paleostinian Authority Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh’s remarks in Ramallah on Tuesday, where he stated that the Paleostinian Authority would transition into a state if Israel proceeded with its plan to annex parts of the West Bank.

"Those who speak of declaring a state don’t know what they are talking about," Erekat says.
If they’ve been a state for the past eight years, they’ve made such a bad job of it that it ought to be taken away from them. They need a keeper to force them closer to proper behaviour.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Autonomous Administration in northeast Syria started establishing a detailed database for the families of #ISIS living in al-Hawl
Oooooohhh, data! Sing us the song of our people, O Kurds! Sorry. But it is true.
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]
"This collection of data helps ... facilitate coordination with the countries whose nationals reside in the camp and urge them to assume their responsibilities towards their citizens," the statement read.

Al-Hawl camp, located south of the city of Hasakeh in the country's northeast, hosts 11,000 foreign women and kiddies of ISIS Death Eaters from about 54 countries, held in a separate part of the camp known as the ISIS Foreigners’ Section.

The camp also hosts 63,000 individuals, including Iraqi refugees and Syrian internally displaced people (IDPs).

The detailed database will contain only the 11,000 ISIS women and kiddies, the statement added. "This measure is taken to preserve security and prevent terrorist acts in our region and around the world."

In March 2019, the US-backed, Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) eliminated ISIS in its last stronghold in Syria's village of Baghouz in Deir ez-Zor province in the country's east, near the border with Iraq.

Since then, the names of foreign ISIS women and kiddies were listed but without further details.

In 2019, foreign ISIS women have reportedly set up their own court and inquisitors religious police, who have been meting out punishments, including killing Iraqi refugees and Syrian IDPs - even killing children when they disobey orders from the ISIS council.

The women also set up a group of children, training them to be what they called "cubs of the caliphate." These radicalized children are trained to slaughter chickens and goats first as practice to behead humans and become jacket wallahs, security sources in the camp told North-Press.
Lovely. Really, they ought to be hanged just for that. Rudaw adds:
Sheikhmous Ahmed, who oversees all displacement camps in Rojava, told Rudaw English late Wednesday that they aim to end the “chaos” created by ISIS women in the camp, referring to escape attempts, arson, attempted murder and attacks on camp officials.

He also said that some of the camp residents have refused to reveal their real identities, even to international organizations.

Zilan Nebo, an official responsible for the registration told ANHA that authorities are fingerprinting and photographing the women, as well as taking iris scans and DNA tests. The process is expected to be completed within two to three days, according to Ahmed.

“Our aim is to make the international community hear us and realize that their nationals are in our camps so that they help us logistically and in other terms,” she added.
