[ToloNews] Over 5,300 prisoners have been released from the jails in the country over the fear of COVID-19, an official from general directorate of prisons said on Wednesday.

An official from the directorate of prisons previously said that a sample taken from one of the detainees in the Pul-e-Charkhi jail was negative. Nonetheless, the Afghan Ministry of Public Health has warned that the virus could infiltrate the cells if the necessary measures not taken by the government.
"Various measures have been taken for the prisons, but the good news is that 10,000 will be released. The more you reduce the crowds, the more you prevent the spread of the virus," said Waheedullah Mayar, a front man for the Ministry of Health.
On March 26 the Afghan government announced that based on President Ghani's decree, up to 10,000 prisoners-- including women and kiddies--would be released in the upcoming 10 days to stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus in Afghan detention centers.

"Those who are held in the Kabul detention center are being kept in a bad situation and they are throwing water and food to them inside," said Abdul Jameel, who was recently released from the jail.

[DAWN] Four police officials were arrested on Wednesday after they resorted to gun sex in PIB Colony which resulted in the death of a woman, area Station House Officer (SHO) Shakir Hussain said.
According to Hussain, a scuffle had broken out between volunteers of two welfare organizations who had arranged a ration distribution drive in the Nishter Basti area on Tuesday without informing the district administration. Police arrived to control the situation and the four officials resorted to gun sex after they were pushed by the crowd.
One bullet hit a woman, who was standing by a window in her house. According to the police, she sustained a head wound and was taken to a private hospital where she passed away.
Her body has been moved to Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre where a post-mortem examination has yet to be conducted. Hussain said that the police were waiting for a medical report and a complaint by the victim's family to file formal charges against the arrested officials.
Senior Superintendent of Police (East) Tanveer Alam, however, told the media that the victim's family has decided not to file a complaint. A case will be registered nonetheless, with the state as complainant, because "no one is above the law", Alam said.

Officials said that the JI worker's killing could be the result of a clash between the two sides that took place on Monday evening. On that day, they said, JI workers and activists of another group were busy distributing ration among people separately in the same area. The activity took an ugly turn when a mob-like situation emerged and the two sides blamed each other for the mismanagement.
"The argument turned into a scuffle between the workers of the two sides. They pelted stones and used sticks and bricks to attack each other. The situation turned normal after area residents intervened and police also rushed to the site and dispersed the activists," said an official of the Surjani Town cop shoppe.
During the clash between the two groups, who were said to belong to the same neighbourhood, a person from the firing suspects' side was injured.
