Government Corruption
'Remember that promise of no new audits below $400,000...the IRS doesn't
[HOT AIR] As with so many political promises, it was never going to be kept.

Political rhetoric is rarely meant to be taken literally, shouldn’t be taken seriously, and often isn’t even meant to have any connection to the real world.

At best political promises are aspirational—"I will try to do something like this."

Usually they are filled with puffery—"I will aim kinda/sorta in this direction and you will like it."

But often they are simply con jobs—"I don’t mean this at all, but you like to hear it."

Joe Biden’s promises regarding the IRS expansion he pushed through were of the last type. Joe wanted $80 billion more for the IRS in the "Inflation Reduction Act," which was a tall order.

The IRS is very unpopular, but he wanted a ton more money to expand it. So he promised that the bigger IRS would just go after the big guys. Everybody hates the rich, so he got the money.

The specific promise was that the new IRS auditors wouldn’t go after anybody with incomes below $400,000. Few people make more than $400,000, so the number sounded good enough.

"Not my problem," said the little guys. "What do I care?"

#1  Except that rich people can and will bring accountants and lawyers to their audits, while the little are considerably more likely to go in alone and unprotected. Going after a bunch of little guys is considerably more likely to yield success... for the IRS, I mean.

Republican bad girls and boys
[NYP] Married Republican South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem has engaged in a years-long affair with longtime Donald Trump adviser Corey Lewandowski, multiple sources told The Post Friday.

Though no images of the two getting frisky are known to exist, the pair have been less than discreet about their relationship, with one source recalling them making out at a hotel bar during the 2021 Conservative Political Action Conference in Orlando, Fla.

"I remember it was so absurdly blatant and public," said the person, who recalled Noem and Lewandowski getting "handsy" at the bar of the Hyatt Regency Orlando with between 100 and 200 others around.

"It wasn’t like 2 a.m.," the source said. "It isn’t like we caught them at some dive bar miles away. It’s a lobby bar where everyone is staying and so there’s a bajillion political operatives and journalists and electeds around. I remember I saw it with my own eyes and a couple other people saw it and the blatantness was absurd."

#1  likely a Trump VP aspirational campaign pushed this. After all these "years-long affair" nobody has the goods? The NYP should be ashamed to push this shit without evidence.

And yes, I'd bang it like a screen door in a hurricane.

#2  It's way too easy to see this as part of Trump's never-ending ability to associate himself with the worst people possible.

Jennifer Granholm Throws Staff Under the Bus After Charging Station Fiasco
[WFB, ht Insty] Decision to use gas-powered car to block public electric vehicle charger showed 'poor judgment,' energy sec says

Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm on Thursday addressed her now-infamous electric vehicle charging fiasco, saying her "young" staffers showed "poor judgment" when they used a gas-powered car to hoard a spot for Granholm at a crowded public station.

Granholm during a congressional hearing confirmed the ordeal, which took place during the Biden administration official's June electric vehicle promotion tour. She did not, however, take responsibility for the incident, instead blaming "somebody" on her team for making a "mistake."

"I wasn't saving the spot. But let me just say—I have a fantastic young staff. Just fantastic," Granholm said. "I just want to say that somebody made a mistake. ... I didn't ... It was poor judgment on the part of the team."

Granholm's charging fiasco occurred during the energy secretary's June 27 drive from South Carolina to Athens, Ga., which included a stop at a public station outside Augusta to recharge Granholm's electric vehicle fleet. But before Granholm's arrival, the energy secretary's advance staff determined the station would not be able to accommodate the caravan, as one charger was broken and others were in use. A Granholm staffer subsequently used a gas-powered car to hoard the station's only available charger until Granholm's arrival, prompting one angry family to call the police.

"There's literally a non-electric car that is taking up the space, they said they're holding the space for somebody else, and it's holding up a whole bunch of people who need to charge their cars," a member of the family said during a 911 call, which was first reported by the Washington Free Beacon. "There's other people who are waiting to charge, and they're still here, and they're not an electric car, and the sign says that ... you can't park here unless you're charging. ... They said that their person is going to be here in two minutes that they're holding the spot for."

Granholm hoped her summer tour would promote green driving and showcase the billions of dollars President Joe Biden has spent on electric vehicles and other climate-focused initiatives. Instead, the trip displayed the electric vehicle issues that are plaguing the Biden administration's green energy transition.

Electric vehicle drivers often struggle to find public charging stations, and those who do locate a station often encounter broken and crowded chargers. EVs are also expensive—Granholm's caravan included a Ford F-150 Lightning and a Cadillac Lyriq, both of which can cost more than $60,000.

Biden is nonetheless moving forward with regulations that effectively mandate electric vehicle adoption. The Democrat's Environmental Protection Agency and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have both proposed rules that force automakers to ensure two-thirds of the vehicles they sell are electric by 2032.

#1  "vehicles they sell", not happening. Major decline now in sales. Lots full of inventory. Incomes too low to acquire. Interest rates to high. This duck is dead in the water. GM and Ford alive simply because of Government handouts. I see Ford going overseas. Toyota makes everything. Poor nations can't purchase Ev's.

#2  China is just a short trip from California, Oregon, and Washington - states all dying for the electrics.

What an opportunity! Thanks, Joe!

#3  An attempt at pandering ends in damage control. Note that the staffer is too poor to afford the EV.

George Soros funded Joe Biden's ‘TikTok Army' – NY Post
[RT] Billionaire financier George Soros handed at least $300,000 to a group of left-wing TikTok creators last year, who used the funding to push a myriad of liberal narratives, the New York Post reported on Saturday. The group often worked under direct instruction from the White House.

Soros’ Open Society Foundations donated $5.5 million to the nonprofit Accelerate Action Inc. in 2020 and 2021, which in turn gave at least $300,000 in 2022 to Gen Z for Change, the newspaper reported, citing tax filings.

Gen Z for Change describes itself as a network of more than 500 social media "activists, organizers, and creators." Across various social media platforms, the group publishes content promoting abortion, gun control, liberal immigration policy, and "climate justice," according to its website.

These causes have long been championed by Soros. However, Gen Z for Change has also found itself hired by President Joe Biden to spread his message and attack Republican politicians.
