Obamas On Vacation In Hawaii, Go Kayaking, Michelle Does Most Of The Rowing
Can I write a clickbait hed or what?
[Daily Mail, Where America Gets Its News] - Barack and Michelle Obama are warming up for the holidays in Hawaii, where they were pictured on Tuesday soaking up the sun in some colorful swimwear as they kayaked together in the ocean.

The pair were photographed in the water at Kailua Bay, a stone's throw from Plantation Estate, their 'winter White House' which they rented over the holidays when Barack was in office.

Sporty Michelle appeared to be putting in most of the work while her former President husband sat back and took in the sights, before eventually lending a hand then hauling their kayak to shore.
Like you'd expect anything else from someone who's coasted through life - the pictures are amusing, though.

Georgia election official who scoffed at Trumps fraud claims says woman used his home address to illegally vote
[KXAN] A Georgia official who dismissed Donald Trump’s allegations of election fraud has claimed that his home address was used to cast an illegal ballot, but insists the incident is not evidence of wide scale irregularities.

Gabriel Sterling, the Voting System Implementation Manager for Georgia’s Secretary of State, revealed that a woman listed his address as her own when voting in the 2020 presidential election, and that she had also requested an absentee ballot, using the same incorrect address, for the state’s upcoming Senate runoff contest.

Sterling discovered the issue after he received a flyer from a national voting rights organization, Fair Fight. The notice reminded a voter named Meron Fissha to pick up her absentee ballot and urged her to return it "quickly to ensure your vote is counted."

Fissha had sold her home to Sterling in 2018 and moved out of the state, according to the Georgia official. He said that after investigating the matter he discovered that Fissha requested that the ballot be mailed to her in Maryland, and that she had also voted by mail in the November 3 general election.

#1  Last week I listed the GA SOS Absentee Ballot tracking Spreadsheet that "WAS" posted on the official GA SOS site.

It listed all 159 GA counties and every absentee Ballot issued, to whom at what address and etc...
A 194MB ZIP File.

It seems others grabbed a copy and started digging into it and quickly found multiple listings of same names using an assortment of addresses.

The GA SOS URL pointer and file name was removed that afternoon.

I still do have the file. If anyone is interested.
Any suggestions where to dump it VPN anonymously for sharing?

Trump appoints more loyalists to federal board seats
[Axios] President Trump on Tuesday included some of his most loyal defenders in more than three dozen appointments to federal board seats, including former Florida attorney general Pam Bondi, former acting director of national intelligence Richard Grenell and former National Security Council staffer Ezra Cohen-Watnick.

Why it matters: The president is still refusing to publicly acknowledge his election loss but such appointments are a typical means for outgoing presidents to extend their legacy. The positions are usually unpaid, have little political power and do not require Senate confirmations.

  • Bondi, who helped lead Trump's effort to stop vote counting in Pennsylvania, will serve on the board of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

  • Grennell, who also served a stint as U.S. ambassador to Germany, will serve on the United States Holocaust Memorial Council.

  • Other Trump allies including Corey Lewandowski, Kellyanne Conway and David Bossie have received appointments in recent weeks.

  • Conway was appointed to the board of visitors of the U.S. Air Force Academy, while Lewandowski and Bossie were sent to the Pentagon Defense Business Board.

The big picture... Other high-profile names announced include:

  • Hope Hicks, former White House communications director, to the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.

  • Stephanie Grisham, former White House press secretary, to the board of directors for the National Board for Education Sciences.

  • Russ Vought, Trump's current director of the Office of Management and Budget, to the board of visitors to the United States Naval Academy.

Of note: Cohen-Watnick, who is currently serving as the acting undersecretary for Defense Intelligence, also was named to be a member and the chair of the Public Interest Declassification Board.

His tenure in the Trump administration has been marked by controversy after he was brought to the National Security Council by Michael Flynn before clashing with Henry McMaster when he ran the NSC, Axios Hans Nichols notes.

The bottom line: The appointments are parting gifts to Trump's confidants and have the effect of extending his impact into Biden's term, just as President Obama did with similar appointments before leaving office in 2017.
Sauce for the goose, sauce for the gander.

Trump signs executive order insisting on classical architecture in government buildings
  • [Daily Mail, Where America Gets Its News] President Donald Trump wants to make federal architecture 'beautiful' again

  • The White House released a Trump-signed executive order on Monday that called for 'classical architecture' to be used for future federal buildings

  • The order applauds the styles of Neoclassical, Georgian, Federal, Greek Revival, Beaux-Arts and Art Deco architecture, while criticizing Brutalism and more modern designs

  • It suggests that there are a number of buildings the president finds problematic, including a federal courthouse in Utah that is said to resemble a 'Borg Cube' from 'Star Trek'

#1  Several decades ago the University of Oklahoma took a second look at some of the newer buildings. One monstrosity was called the "Waring Blender" for it's *ahem* impact on the skyline. They decided that all new constructions needed to be Cherokee Gothic or at least harmonize with the old style using a red brick with cream colored stone trim.

The overall view has much improved...

Biden pointedly noted that he would take the opposite political tone that Trump did while trying to force Congress to pass important legislation.

"You have a different team in town," he said. "I’m not going to villainize the opposition, but I’m going to stand and say ’This is what we’ve got to do,'" Biden said, adding that Republicans would understand the need to act quickly.

"They know me," he continued. "They know I level with them. They know I never mislead. They know I tell them the truth, and they know I don’t go out of my way to try to embarrass."

Trump signs memo allowing Durham to use classified Russia evidence in grand jury probe
[JUSTTHENEWS] Classified information may be utilized in the probe scrutinizing the origins of the FBI investigation related to the 2016 presidential campaign, according to a presidential order from President Trump.U.S. attorney John Durham, who had been conducting the investigation, was named as a special counsel in the probe in October.

"The Attorney General is currently conducting a review of intelligence activities relating to the campaigns in the 2016 Presidential election and certain related matters," the memo states. "On May 13, 2019, the Attorney General directed John Durham to conduct that review, which subsequently developed into a criminal investigation. On October 19, 2020, the Attorney General appointed Mr. Durham to conduct that investigation pursuant to the powers and independence afforded by the Special Counsel regulations of the Department of Justice."

"In a memorandum of May 23, 2019, I directed the heads of elements of the intelligence community, as defined in 50 U.S.C. 3003(4), and the heads of each department or agency that includes an element of the intelligence community, to assist the Attorney General in connection with that review, and authorized the Attorney General to declassify, downgrade, or direct the declassification or downgrading of information or intelligence that relates to his review. In addition, the Attorney General is authorized to use classified information as he deems necessary in connection with his review, including in a grand jury or other proceeding," the memo says.

Mike Miller resigning from Md. Senate after more than 45 years
[WTOP] Maryland Sen. Thomas V. Mike Miller
(D-Calvert)
is resigning from the Maryland General Assembly, effective immediately.Miller, who has served more than 45 years in the Senate, much of that time as the Senate President, said he’s resigning with "tremendous sadness."

Miller, who is 78 and who’s battled a cancer diagnosis in recent years, sent a letter with his decision to current Senate President Bill Ferguson.

"My heart and my mind remain strong, but my body has grown too weak to meet the demands of another legislative session," Miller wrote.

"During my tenure in the Senate of Maryland and my time serving as President, it was the greatest honor of my life in part because I have seen the Senate rise above partisan and other differences time and time again. I have seen the Senate come together and unite to get the work of the people of Maryland done."

Miller said that while members of the Senate did not always disagree, when they did, they disagreed with "dignity and congeniality."

Miller represented Prince George’s County and Southern Maryland.

He served as Senate President for 33 years before stepping down from the leadership post last year.

Trump Vetoes the Defense Authorization Act
[Town Hall] After warning of plans to veto the National Defense Authorization Act, President Donald Trump followed through on the threat Wednesday afternoon and cited a number of reasons for the decision.

"No one has worked harder, or approved more money for the military, than I have -- over $2 trillion. During my 4 years, with the support of many others, we have almost entirely rebuilt the United States military, which was totally depleted when I took office. Your failure to terminate the very dangerous national security risk of Section 230 will make our intelligence virtually impossible to conduct without everyone knowing what we are doing at every step," Trump said in a memo to Congress.

Further, Trump rejected the bill because it requires a number of military installations be renamed. He also called the legislation a "gift to China and Russia."

Since the legislation passed both houses of Congress with veto proof majorities, the move is symbolic. The veto is expected to be overridden next week with a vote in the House Monday and in the Senate, Tuesday.

#1  Trump's reasoning is, I think, flawed here.

Section 230 (allowing internet publishers legal protection from publishing 3rd party opinions) is not a great national security risk compared to many other problems.

Section 230 should have been addressed in separate legislation. This has been obvious for years.

Joe Biden to [Eventually] Dismantle Trump's Legal Wall, Inviting Central Americans to Southern Border
[Breitbart] President-Elect Joe Biden is planning to dismantle the legal wall at the United States-Mexico border that President Trump has constructed that ensures a reduction of illegal immigration through asylum agreements with Mexico and Central America.

In statements this week, Biden and his advisers said they plan on taking down Trump's legal wall that includes the Remain in Mexico policy, as well as cooperative asylum agreements with Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador. The agreements have allowed federal immigration officials to swiftly return border crossers to their native countries after failing to meet asylum thresholds.

"The timeline is to do it in fact to make it better not worse," Biden said at a news conference on Tuesday. "The last thing we need is to say we're going to stop immediately the access to asylum the way it's being run now and end up with 2 million people on our border. It's a matter of setting up the guardrails."

Biden's incoming domestic policy adviser Susan Rice and incoming national security adviser Jake Sullivan, in an interview with a Spanish language media outlet, said Biden would be ending Trump's Central American agreements that have streamlined the asylum process and helped keep illegal immigration down.

Though not immediately ending Remain in Mexico, Rice and Sullivan suggested Biden would end the program at some point in the future, according to the Washington Post:

Rice and Sullivan told EFE the Biden administration would redouble efforts to stem emigration from Central America by creating jobs, battling corruption and improving security. Biden “will work to promptly undo” Trump’s deals with Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador allowing the U.S. authorities to transfer asylum seekers to those countries, Sullivan also said.

Also in the interview, Rice and Sullivan urged future border crossers in Mexico and Central America to remain patient while they “increase processing capacity.”

“Migrants and asylum seekers absolutely should not believe those in the region peddling the idea that the border will suddenly be fully open to process everyone on Day 1,” Rice said. “It will take months to develop the capacity that we will need to reopen fully.”
Thus underlining the difference between intention and ability.

#1  I've got a feeling that's not going to go well if Biden attempts this. Many people in America think the wall is a good idea; it slows illegal immigration, drug-trafficking and human trafficking and U.S. crime. Looks like the Dems are trying to restore their dark sources of income.

Tucker airs bodycam footage of police responding to the altercation earlier this year between Raphael Warnock and his now ex-wife

For those Rantburgers who prefer to read rather than watch their news, Beavis provides the same story from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:
[AJC] Democratic Senate candidate Raphael Warnock’s ex-wife told Atlanta police officers that her husband was a "great actor" after he denied her claims that he ran over her foot with his car, according to body cam footage of the March 2020 incident that aired late Tuesday on Fox News.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported in March that Warnock wasn’t charged with a crime and an officer said in a police report that medical officials didn’t find visible signs of injury in the foot. The Democrat disputed Ouleye Warnock’s allegations, telling the AJC on March 7 that "it didn’t happen."

The footage aired on Tucker Carlson Tonight two weeks before a Jan. 5 runoff against U.S. Sen. Kelly Loeffler, one of two races that will decide control of the U.S. Senate. It does not raise any new allegations against Warnock, but it was amplified by Republicans who used the video to remind a broader audience of the dispute.

#2  I have a theory that a car tire rolling over a foot will not necessarily break any bones or cause serious injury because the tire isn't quite as hard as rock or steel. Of course, I've never tested this theory.

China Joe Adviser Praises CDC Panel for Favoring Minorities in Vaccine Rollout Plan
[Free Beacon] A chief adviser for President-elect Joe Biden praised a federal recommendation for prioritizing minority groups in the distribution of the coronavirus vaccine.

Marcella Nunez-Smith, a co-chair of Biden's COVID-19 advisory board, told the Washington Post that the board approves of the vaccine-distribution recommendations issued by a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention panel on Sunday. She said she was "quite excited" about the "grounding in inequity" of the panel's guidance, referring to "the importance given to factors such as housing and minority status in decisions about prioritization."

The CDC panel's recommendation calls for frontline essential workers, such as grocery-store employees, teachers, and postal workers, to receive the vaccine next, along with adults aged 75 and older. The following phase would see millions more essential workers receive the vaccine at the same time as adults aged 65 to 74 and persons with high-risk medical conditions.

The prioritization of essential workers in the early vaccine phases is partly intended to fast-track vaccine distribution to minority groups, who make up a disproportionate share of essential workers, even though older members of the population are most at risk of dying from the coronavirus. The CDC panel cited the under-representation of minorities among older adults and the large share of minorities among essential workers in its deliberations over how to achieve the goal of mitigating "health inequities" through targeted vaccine allotment.

#3  No wonder vaccine reluctance is higher in the Black community. Especially after the Democrats went on and on about how they could not possibly trust a Trump vaccine.

Judge won't try Black man in courtroom with white portraits
[WTOP] A Black defendant’s right to a fair trial would be harmed if the jury heard the case in a courtroom lined with portraits of white jurists, a northern Virginia judge has ruled. The upcoming trial of Terrance Shipp on charges of eluding police will be held in a courtroom that has no portraits on the wall, said Fairfax County Circuit Court Judge David Bernhard.

Bernhard noted that his usual courtroom has no portraits. But jury trials that were postponed during the coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)
...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...
pandemics are now being held in larger courtrooms. The walls of those rooms are lined with portraits of retired judges who are overwhelmingly white, he said.

Public defenders raised the issue in a motion titled "Motion to Remove Portraiture Overwhelmingly Depicting White Jurists Hanging in Trial Courtroom."

"While to some the issue of portraits might be a trivial matter, to those subject to the justice system it is far from the case," Bernhard wrote in his ruling, issued Sunday.

He said he was concerned that the portraits "may serve as unintended but implicit symbols that suggest the courtroom may be a place historically administered by whites for whites."

Bernhard said 45 of the 47 portraits hanging in the courtrooms are of white jurists.

Prosecutors offered no objection to the request, Bernhard said in his ruling.

Dawn Butorac, the chief public defender in Fairfax County, called the judge’s ruling "a very, very, very small step in a long overdue journey to battle systemic racism" in the judicial system.
