Marilyn Mosby Now Says Freddie Gray's Knife Isn't Important To Case Against 6 Baltimore Cops
Whoops!
Next week it'll be the dead guy who isn't important to the case...
[DAILYCALLER] The office of Baltimore City state's attorney Marilyn Mosby has added a new wrinkle to the Freddie Gray case, alleging in a court filing that the 25-year-old was illegally locked away
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
by Baltimore coppers even before they recovered a knife on his person.

In the motion, filed Monday, deputy state's attorney Michael Schatzow rebuts a May 8 motion for dismissal and recusal filed by attorneys for the six officers charged in the case. Schatzow calls the attorneys' claims that Mosby has numerous conflicts of interest "premature, frivolous, illogical."

Schatzow also addressed Gray's knife, which became a central part of the case when Mosby announced charges against the officers on May 1. Gray was arrested on April 12 and died a week later. His death was ruled a homicide, and he was determined to have sustained a broken neck while riding in the back of a police van. (RELATED: Baltimore Cops File Motion To Dismiss Freddie Gray Case)

#1  Facts and legality don't seem to come into it, either.

#2  It would seem that the knife would matter. It was a spring-assisted knife as reported in the media. It may have been legal but intent is important also. A machette, kitchen knife, golf-club, ball-bat are most likely all legal but in the hands of a thug, they could be used illegally. Several years ago, a guy was shot and killed here. He had a cinder block over his head and was approaching police officers in a menacing manner.

This young State's attorney with a fairly newly minted law degree and little experience is a headline hunter. Look for her to be the darling of the left in the future--future AG material (sarc).

'It Sure Looks Like Some Ferguson Protestors Were Paid To Do So By Liberal Organize Missouri'
[PJMEDIA] And by 2014, Ferguson as a media event existed as pure kabuki for the network mini-cameras. (Never mind the innocent businesses looted and burned — the networks sure didn’t.) In August, NBC allowed Al Sharpton to jet out there to organize the protestors, which his network colleague Andrea Mitchell Orwellianly referred to as Sharpton being “on a peace mission.” The protestors which Sharpton had ginned up threw rocks as part of their “peace mission,” narrowly missing his network colleague Chris Hayes, who was on scene. Hayes took it all “unexpectedly” well — as Larry O’Connor wrote at the Washington Free Beacon, “MSNBC Wouldn’t Be This Calm If Tea Party Protesters Threw Rocks at Their Hosts.” Camera crews working for MSNBC “endangered lives by shining its lights, spotlighting police officers in the crowd of Monday night’s violent racial protests,” the Daily Caller reported back then. CNN trotted out Spike Lee, last seen in 2012 attempting to publish the home address of George Zimmerman’s parents, who blurted on the air to Anderson Cooper, ”I just hope that things will really blow up if the people aren’t happy with the verdict of this upcoming trial.”

#1  Such protesters are the Brown Shirts and storm troopers of the left. The left doesn't often speak the truth. Usually they do their utmost to conceal the truth. However, Rahm Emmanuel had a fairly lucid moment when he said: "You never want a serious crisis to go to waste." Often, they create a faux crisis to exploit. The left has legions of their "pot stirrers (useful idiots)" at the ready for any crisis.

Martin O'Malley 2016 pitch: Youthfulness
[CNN] Martin O'Malley
...former Democratic governor of Maryland and aspiring presidential candidate, known locally as The One-Man Economic Wrecking Crew. O'Malley was elected to his second term driven by union support and near-Stalinesque vote margins in Baltimore city (82%) and Prince George's County (88%)...
is expected to emphasize his "youthfulness," and a less scripted, more accessible presidential campaign, as a way to help contrast his candidacy with Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as For a good time at 3 a.m. call Hillary and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another John C. Calhoun ...
in the race for the Democratic nomination, an O'Malley confidante tells CNN.

"We do think there is a real generational argument to make and that he can seize upon it," said the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

O'Malley, 52, announced Tuesday on two social media platforms, Snapchat and Twitter, that he would make a "special announcement" on May 30 in Baltimore -- when he is widely believed to formally enter the 2016 contest. Clinton, the former Secretary of State and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders
...The only openly Socialist member of the U.S. Senate. Sanders was Representative-for-Life from Vermont until moving to the Senate for the rest of his life in 2006, assuming the seat vacated by Jim Jeffords...
are already in the race for the Democratic nomination.

The former Maryland governor will release a new video Wednesday continuing to tease the May 30 event, according to an early version obtained by CNN. O'Malley's campaign is likely to produce several more similar videos leading up to the announcement.

"I think the way we're approaching things here, making him accessible, doing impromptu concerts at Irish bars, using non-traditional forms of communicating, and yes employing some humor hints at our general approach of running a fresher and less canned campaign," said the confidante.

Clinton, 67, has been criticized for refusing to regularly take questions from the media and engaging with voters only in carefully staged meetings held in key early states.

Government
Hildebeest Still Not Ready: Formal Campaign Launch '€˜Delayed Indefinitely'
[Breitbart] Hillary Clinton is still not ready for her formal presidential launch.

According to Politico, after Clinton officially announced her candidacy on April 12 with a YouTube video, campaign officials said that a "traditional big-picture speech and rally outlining Clinton's vision for the country's future and her reason for running" would follow in May.

Clinton is apparently still figuring out what her vision is, why she wants to be president, and the rationale for her candidacy since that formal rollout has now been "delayed indefinitely" and pushed back until at least June, according to the report.

Her rollout has been rocked and big-footed by the numerous revelations about influence peddling and possible pay-to-play donations to the Clinton Foundation in Breitbart News Senior Editor-at-Large and Government Accountability Institute President Peter Schweizer's blockbuster Clinton Cash book.
She knows what her leftist 'vision' is. What she doesn't know is what scandal will surface next and the legal impacts.

#1  It would be fun to watch Hildebeest run. She has so much baggage, unanswered questions, lies and unprosecuted criminal behavior to defend. Unfortunately, in today's climate and in the left's fervor for a womyn POTUS, they might overlook all this and actually elect her.

#4  You young folk may not remember this but Teddy Kennedy had a similar problem in late 1979/early 1980, when he was going to challenge Jimmuah Carter. He didn't have a vision statement and didn't have his ducks in a row. There was a celebrated interview with Roger Mudd on CBS in which Kennedy's muddled thinking and lack of vision were put on full display. He didn't recover from that.

There was a lesson to every politician who was paying attention -- don't announce until you're ready to announce. Hilarity seems to missed the lesson by announcing last month and is now trying to cover.

Oregon to test pay-per-mile idea as replacement for gas tax
[APNEWS.MYWAY] Oregon is about to embark on a first-in-the-nation program that aims to charge car owners not for the fuel they use, but for the miles they drive.

The program is meant to help the state raise more revenue to pay for road and bridge projects at a time when money generated from gasoline taxes are declining across the country, in part, because of greater fuel efficiency and the increasing popularity of fuel-efficient, hybrid and electric cars.

Starting July 1, up to 5,000 volunteers in Oregon can sign up to drive with devices that collect data on how much they have driven and where. The volunteers will agree to pay 1.5 cents for each mile traveled on public roads within Oregon, instead of the tax now added when filling up at the pump.

#2  money generated from gasoline taxes are declining across the country, in part, because of greater fuel efficiency and the increasing popularity of fuel-efficient, hybrid and electric cars.

The left pushed these cars and now there are unintended consequences. Oregon, Washington, and California are nice places but there sure is a left-wing goofy streak that afflicts the region. Why not tax the blather and hot air coming from the left or their politicians instead?
