Economy
Thank you President Obama!
Thank you for this:

US credit rating cut for first time ever to AA+ by S&P

“Spreading the wealth around” are you?

Standard and Poor’s (S&P) on Friday announced it had cut the United States’ credit rating from triple-A to AA+, citing the country’s looming debt and deficit burden.

Now, where did that come from, “the country’s looming debt and deficit burden”?

Thank you Obama!

“S&P attached a ‘negative outlook’ to the new rating, while government sources involved in the negotiations with the agency attacked its analysis as deeply flawed.”

It didn’t take you long did it?

Just a couple of years in that big house in Washington and you and your spendthrift colleagues have managed to blight the most productive economy the world has ever seen. Thank you Mr. President!

“The downgrade reflects our opinion that the fiscal consolidation plan that Congress and the administration recently agreed to falls short of what, in our view, would be necessary to stabilize the government’s medium-term debt dynamics,” S&P said in a statement.

What planet are you and Joe Biden and Barney Frank and Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid from?

“More broadly, the downgrade reflects our view that the effectiveness, stability, and predictability of American policymaking and political institutions have weakened at a time of ongoing fiscal and economic challenges to a degree more than we envisioned when we assigned a negative outlook to the rating on April 18, 2011.”

In the space of two years, you have done more damage to this economey — which means the future not only of this country but the rest of what you would disdain to call the civilized world — than any President in history. You are a poor man’s Jimmy Carter, a midget Herbert Hoover, a disaster for this country and the world.

S&P said the negative outlook pointed to the possibility of lowering the rating to AA within two years if the government does not cut spending as much as currently pledged, or if higher interest rates and new fiscal pressures worsen the country’s financial picture.

How was the barbecue yesterday? Thanks a lot.

#1  Obama has us over a barrel. This president sucks.

#2  What? Just one comment to this post?

Obama is the Messiah, THE ONE, Greek Columns and the sun rise
of the hopes and change, the first half black President who toured Europe during the American Election to the ecstatic kisses of the French.

He has single-handedly cleaned us out. No mean feat for a man who grew up in Indonesia with a mommy ( where was she born? New Jersey? ) who posed for skin pics and a daddy who was born among the kralls of Kenya.

America, how DO you do it?

Time Magazine and Newsweek and the NYT think he is the best thing since mustard all over your weenie. And were YOU invited to HIS BBQ the day the Dow Jones went down like the Titanic?

When the dollar goes down guess what the gas prices at the pump do? Got a job? Awww, that's too bad.

#8  Any Republican candidate worth his or her salt will use this information to stymie BO's bid for reelection in 2012. The question is, how many of them actually will? I mean, McCain should have been screaming bloody murder about Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac back in 2008 but he didn't. Why not? Was he somehow complicit in that mess or is he just milquetoast? Can we get a Republican with candidate who will use this news for what it's worth? Please?

#10  The Obama crowd have no ideas, only propaganda they've been fed since they were in diapers. We have a media-crowned "president" that wouldn't make a good elementary-school vice-principal as the most powerful man in the world forcing a socialist agenda down our throats, and the majority of Repuglycons don't have the stones to vigorously oppose him. The "debt deal" was a disaster. O'Bumble's presidency is a disaster. Pelosi/Reid/Biden are disasters. Obamacare is a disaster. We can only survive so many disasters. I wrote on my weblog a detailed plan that would have saved our AAA rating, and sent a copy to 40 different presidential hopefuls and congresscritters. I haven't gotten a single reply. It's time to take 'em all out, down to the GS-15 level, and start over.

Article is here.

Obama predicts U.S. job growth, economic improvement, chicken in every pot, tasty nickel cigars
(KUNA) -- Speaking to American military veterans, U.S. President Barack B.O. Obama said Friday more job growth is needed and predicted the U.S. economy will improve over time.

Commenting on a Labor Department report that 154,000 jobs were created in July and the jobless rate ticked down slightly to 9.1 percent, Obama said, "We've got to do better than that." "We are going to get through this. Things will get better and we're going to get there together," he said.

Citing the recent U.S. debt talks, the Japan earthquake and tsunami, revolts in Arab countries and the European debt crisis as factors contributing to slack growth, Obama said this has been a tumultuous year. When the U.S. Congress returns to work in September, Obama said he wants politicians to move quickly on job-creating steps such as extending a payroll tax cut.

To get job growth back on a solid footing "no doubt will take some time," the president said.

#8  CincinnatusChili, I was watching el prez give a speech and he told a joke about military grade diapers...room erupted in laughter, it was a good joke...then Obama got the joke, and laughed himself. Could see it in the eyes as he re-read what he just said.

Look, our ship has grounded. Replacing the captain will ease concerns, but we also need a new captain who knows how to lighten the ship so we float again.

Want to blame the world, fine and childish. The world is chaotic and there will always be something going on...its not the classroom or lecture hall where everything is theory and air conditioning.

But thats not the point. The point is re-election is everything. If Obama fails to be re-elected it will be a repudiation of all these progressive laws and theories. If the entire Congress turns fiscally responsible as well than all these borg policies will be shitcanned. That is big time cola, expect everything to be tried in order to put a prog or prog-sympathetic president in (looks at romney).

Job creation, hokay, finishing a project and was working COGS, got to labor. Apparently I can do the paperwork or the labor at reasonable times - not both. I do not want to hire a person. Kansas is not a SUTA state but that does not matter, so I pay into a Federal Unemployment Tax pool theres a thousand bucks or so right there. I do not know if I will have to provide health insurance to this employee if those that could be an extra oh $700 per month. Not even to wages yet, the labor itself is mainly busy work so minimum wage is actually an over-pay.

So say that is a go, so what if my price per piece changes from $40 to $55 (maximum imposed price with profit margin @ hopeful volume). We have a Dim party wanting to raise taxes on profit generating people and companies...those are my suppliers, so my material goes up. EPA overregulating, wood materials go up, gasoline is evil so tax it, material price goes up. Shut down and prevent new power plants, utilities go up, etc.

Not even getting into having to hire a tax man or other specialist to make sure I comply with upcoming Federal policies.

My point in a toilet bowl, the uncertainty is Big Auntie Government instead of my workforce, which is bass akward.

Heh, say I make it, hottest new product, strike it rich. Fuckers will call me a rich profiteer and take my money to support wagyu steak dinners and jaunts to Spain. Sumsabitches. Yeah, exciting, sign me up for 12 hour days for untold time and luck to support that.

Home Front: Politix
Libs Say The One Folded in the Face of Pub Pressure
Seated in an auditorium, the senators pressed Obama on their key concern as talks heated up over raising the nation's debt ceiling: How would he stand up to tea party Republicans? To the dismay of many in the audience, Obama conceded that he probably couldn't -- and probably wouldn't -- push too hard because he was unwilling to risk a U.S. government default.
Burn down the factory! Scorch the earth! Victory or (someone else's) death!
Citing a faction of House conservatives dead-set on opposing any compromise, Obama said he was not "going to stand here and pretend to you that I can just look the other way" if hardball negotiations lead to an economic crisis, according to another person in the room.

Obama is a relative newcomer to the kind of tough negotiating with Republicans that will define the remainder of his term. It's not a role he faced as a legislator, and during his first two years in office, he scored victories in a Democratic-controlled Congress.
We won. You don't matter. Whatever Nancy wants.
In the past nine months, though, Obama has found himself engineering three major budget deals with Republicans.

For many, it was also an early and revealing glimpse of what they think was an overly cautious negotiating style that they would watch unfold -- at times with horror -- over the next several weeks. Some thought that Obama, who had already embraced some of the cuts Republicans demanded, had given up too much too soon.

"One side is enormously aggressive in pushing an agenda, and the other is saying, 'Let's all get along,'" said Sen. Bernard Sanders, a Vermont independent who caucuses with Democrats and was one of the lawmakers questioning Obama in May. "So who do you think is going to win?"
The people? Don't be silly!
When was the first time progressives said 'Let's all get along'? I think I missed that. Anyone got a tape on YouTube or something?
White House officials believe the president's approach will pay off politically. They think the image of him as a reasonable compromiser fits with what most voters are looking for, especially the centrist independents who are turning their backs on the Democratic Party.
Who aren't turning their backs because of the debate, but if that's what Mr. Axelrod chooses to believe, fine.
But many Democrats fear that Obama is giving too much ground on the party's core values at a time when Republicans are unified in their quest to shrink the size and scope of government.
The people? Do they matter? The people who elected the Republicans? The people who put Pubs in state houses and legislatures? The people who have repudiated the Dim model? The voters? Does the WaPo recognize their existence?
For the country, how the president negotiates will go a long way toward setting the terms for what lawmakers in both parties consider the defining questions of their time: What will Medicare and Social Security look like? How big will the military be? How much will the wealthy pay in taxes? How will the country care for its poor, sick and vulnerable?
Families. Churches. The people.

Disappointed liberals

In the debt-ceiling talks, many liberal activists were angry that Obama didn't push Republicans to the limit they wanted to try to force them through the compliant media to take the blame for a potential default and accept some tax increases along with spending cuts. Some House Democrats called on Obama to invoke the 14th Amendment to the Constitution, which they said gave him the authority to lift the debt limit on his own.
Yeah! You got away with Libya! Twist some more words! Do it!
Once you twist one part of the Constitution, the rest becomes easier...
Instead, the president often operated more as a mediator, accepting the need to cut spending, including entitlements, while limiting his priorities to avoid default and any more debt-ceiling votes until after his reelection campaign.
Pragmatic. I like that. Except for the "until after his reelection campaign."
They use the word 'pragmatic' as a synonym for 'petulant', 'unengaged' and 'rude'...
"You look for what the other side needs. You look for what you need," said White House budget director Jacob J. Lew, describing Obama's negotiation philosophy. "And you look for a solution where both can have honorable outcomes. You can't vanquish each other."
Pah. That's not what Saul Alinsky said...
By that measure, Obama got what he wanted.
Oh, did we get a massive tax increase and stimulus II after all?
White House officials say the president's strategy in the recent debt deal, in negotiations during last year's lame-duck session and in this year's budget talks has been effective, yielding policy victories that many couldn't have foreseen after the tea party's 2010 rise.
The rise Jawn sKerry wants to muzzle? The voice of the people?
