A victim of rivalry between two jihadist groups, Ansar ul-Islam and Lashkar-e-Islam. This could be essentially nothing more than a turf war, but it is significant that it takes on theological coloring -- for theological appeals to the purity and authenticity of Islam underlie much jihad recruitment today.
"Pak Sikh expelled for not embracing 'authentic Islam,'" from PTI, with thanks to Infidel:
ISLAMABAD: An Islamist group in Pakistan has forced a Sikh, who had converted to Islam 29 years ago, to leave his village in Peshawar's Tirah Valley after his house was set on fire and his son kidnapped for not embracing "authentic Islam". "That ain't the correct version of the Religion of Peace he's practicin'! Beat him up and burn his house down!"
"Yes, your immensity!"
"And kidnap his kid, too!"
Leaders of Ansar-ul-Islam (AI), a religious group in North West Frontier Province's Khyber Agency, was accused of expelling the Tirah-based Sikh for converting to the "Lashkar-e-Islams untrue version of Islam". "Wastin' his time, he is! Might as well have not converted in the first place."
"Qazi Mehboob and Said Akbar came to me and said my first Islam is not genuine. They said it was tablighi Islam," said Din Muhammad, who had converted to Islam 29 years ago. The Ansar-ul-Islam leaders also forced his family to leave their native village Landakas in Tirah Valley when he refused to accept their demand to revert to Sikhism or embrace the "authentic Islam" that the Ansar-ul-Islam was practising. He accused the Ansar-ul-Islam activists of kidnapping one of his four sons and forcing him to a pay a ransom of Rs 200,000 for his release. They also set his house on fire a month ago and seized his land.

I think this is a very serious matter. If a raised welt the size of a walnut is not conspicuously visble, the proper technique is not being observed. Much more velocity prior to contact with the floor is required. Just keep banging your goddamned skulls on the bricks. No wonder these asses act so crazy. They have concusssions leading to Parkinsons. Carry on faster please.

Another dose of "more Islamic than thou" bullshit. Thank goodness it so often leads to them killing each other. Too bad a lot more of them don't off each other with even greater frequency. It would solve the whole problem for us.

It does seem to be accelerating, Zenster. Although it may just be that we're paying more attention. F'r instance, are the Sunni/Shia interactions in Iraq causing more deaths than Saddam Hussein and his henchmen did back in the day? Or is it just that the plastic shredder casualties were not reported?

Don't argue about islam. I have the answer. Walk to the ocean and then continue walking into the ocean and then keep going some more--don't stop until you find the 72 virgins. That is the one true way to worship allan.

I don't think it's just us. In an absolutely ironic twist, the same information age that helped bring about the Soviet Union's downfall is also helping to spread not just Islamic intolerance but increasingly stringent and radical versions of it. With the Internet it is now possible to get fatwas on everything from plucking your monobrow down to trimming your toenails. This can only increase the chances of an individual doing something different from someone else's own time honored ritual and thereby initiating a all too often violent dispute over which one is of greater Islamic purity.
All of this strife is the direct outcome of a cult that relies so heavily upon ritual and top-down control. All high context cultures have similar issues over authority and interpretation of law. The problems of interpretation stem from over-concentration of power in an elite class and their tendency to abuse it for their own ends. Control of information flow assumes such poisonous forms as intentionally imposed illiteracy in women especially and broadly constructed proscriptions that provide legal authorities maximum latitude in whom they can assail without warrant.
All of these maleficent features reach a pinnacle in Islam and its worshippers. Koranic doctrine is so overbearing and elaborate in its dicta that it is almost impossible to avoid transgressing it in a thousand petty ways. Combine this with an uneducated, violence prone male population that has been obliged to memorize this rubbish while at the same time assuming a position of totally undue social authority and you have a recipe for the disaster known as Muslim majority nations. Islam gives its adherents a thousand reasons to kill each other. The Muslim inclination towards violent dispute bred of the Korans routinely harsh punishments make for unending war and societal strife. As Wretchard so presciently concludes in his magnum opus, The Three Conjectures:
Even if Islam killed every non-Muslim on earth they would almost certainly continue to kill each other with their new-found [nuclear] weaponry. Revenge bombings between rival groups and wars between different Islamic factions are the recurring theme of history. Long before 3,000 New Yorkers died on September 11, Iraq and Iran killed 500,000 Muslims between them. The greatest threat to Muslims is radical Islam; and the greatest threat of all is a radical Islam armed with weapons of mass destruction.
The "Jersey Boys" were reporting on Jersey police message-board discussions of increased ticket writing activities in the wake of the governor's accident...so the police union revealed the radio hosts' home addresses and license plates. Class, pure class.
Thanks to a thuggish intimidation campaign by union officials, two New Jersey talk hosts are at least temporarily off the air. According to several news reports in the Garden State, after New Jersey 101.5 FM talkers Craig Carton and Ray Rossi exposed a potential "ticket blitz" scheme, police union officials went nuts, making threats and revealing Carton's home address and license plate number on television news programs.
In response, Carton and Rossi cut short their radio show and went straight home, saying they needed to protect their families from harm. The blitz was apparently to be launched by police as a protest against official scrutiny of the officer involved in Governor Corzine's recent crash, which left him badly injured.

yeah right. Sure. Good publicity though.
On an interesting note, my local radio talk show hosts, far, far from NJ were also on the "over-jealous cops" meme this week. It was somewhat similar where they found a local event in which a ticket writing cop acted somewhat over-jealously. The talk show pumped it up and made a huge ordeal over it.
