[NYPOST] A Manhattan parking-garage worker who was shot in the stomach by a would-be thief before wrestling the gun away and injuring the suspect, holds no ill-will towards his assailant, a family friend told The Post. When I was a young man, back in the Upper Paleolithic, people would occasionally shoot at me, or at least in my direction. I always held it against them. Still do, in fact.
Moussa Diarra, 57, was initially hit with an attempted-murder rap for shooting his alleged attacker, Charles Rhodie.
The charges were quickly dropped.
The two men tussled during an April 1 altercation at a Meyer’s Parking garage on West 31st Street.
“He’s happy to be doing better and to be released soon. He keeps a positive mind, he’s a good person. He’s not even angry about what happened to him. We’re thanking God everyday,” said Mariame Diarra Souabo, a family friend who used to live in the same apartment as Diarra and his family in the Bronx, said of the attendant.
Souabo, like Diarra and his family, hails from West Africa, Ivory Coast. She said the only person currently visiting him is his wife. Souabo said she spoke with Diarra over the phone on Thursday.
The parking attendant is “undecided on whether he will return to work,” she said.

[NYPOST] A Houston teen sucker-punched a teacher in the face after his cellphone was confiscated, video posted to social media shows.
In a 12-second viral clip making the rounds on Twitter, the agitated student towers over the paunchy educator and repeatedly asks for his "f—king phone."
"Give me my f—king phone, n—a! I told you to give me my phone! Give me my phone!" the 15-year-old demands.
The teacher calmly replies, "Go sit down," before the teen steps back and rocks the unsuspecting older man with a right-handed roundhouse punch.
Screams of horror from a bystander out of frame can be heard before the video ends. Incredibly, the teacher stayed on his feet.
Neither student or teacher have been publicly identified
The incident occurred at Lamar High School in Houston, where school principal Rita Graves sent a letter to families vowing such behavior will not be tolerated, according to KHOU 11.
"We do not condone and will not tolerate this type of behavior. It is always our top priority to maintain an environment where our students and staff are safe," the principal wrote, adding, "Administrators will be looking into the cause of the altercation and continue to evaluate ways to prevent these occurrences in the future."
"Unfortunately, this kid’s made a huge mistake," Zeph Capo, union president of the Texas American Federation of Teachers (AFT), told the station.
When the teacher instructs the student to sit down, the student sucker-punches the educator.
Capo called for the student to be punished and kept away from the high school.
"By all means, he should not be allowed back on a regular campus," Capo said. "This is not something that needs to be tolerated. ... Unfortunately, we see too much of this. We see too much of this happening toward our teachers and toward our school employees."
KHOU recently gathered data on reported assaults against school employees in the Houston area’s largest districts.
The stats revealed at least 520 incidents in the 2021-22 school year, which is more than double any of the five previous years, the outlet reported.

"Misinformation is happening within our friends and families. So we have to find strategies to, first of all, recognize it. And, secondly, as active citizens, just like we wear masks to protect others, we need to be the good citizen, the active vector fighting back in our daily lives."
The WEF are determined to control the internet and they have had a major hand in pushing Senate Bill 686, also known as the TikTok Ban Bill, which gives American citizens 20 YEARS in prison for spreading so-called disinformation.

Eminent domain is the ability of the government to take private property and convert it for public use following just compensation to the property's owner.
Dimon argues that private properties may need to be seized to permit green energy projects and grow the nation's grid infrastructure. He expressed concern about having limited time to tackle the climate crisis and noted that not enough resources are being invested in green initiatives. Therefore, Dimon argued, it may be the right time to consider invoking eminent domain to avoid climate-related disasters.

Not for climate insanity, but I recall about 20 years ago when some New England jurisdiction pulled that eminent domain b.s. on some residential area to build a shopping mall (private to private, not a highway or something more 'public'), and they justified it by claiming the tax revenue was worth the endeavor.

I know a fair number of grandparents providing various degrees of care or support for grandchildren, for various reasons. As the ‘family genealogist’ I know this is nothing new. Reasons change with time but it’s probably why we have evolved with a lifespan of TWO generations.

In 1930, for reasons unknown, wife’s grandmother left the family and disappeared; wife’s 3 year old mother was raised by great-aunt, who to this day remembers that pain. [Kansas City Star] Leaders of the largest county at Missouri’s Lake of the Ozarks say they will not answer questions from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives about local gun businesses.
At Thursday’s county commission meeting, Presiding Commissioner Ike Skelton notified the public that the ATF had recently sent emails to county staffers asking whether four gun businesses were in compliance with local zoning and business licensing regulations.
Skelton said the county would not cooperate and read aloud from a letter he intended to send to the ATF on Camden County letterhead.
The commissioner said the ATF had been "weaponized" under the Biden administration and said he viewed the information request as part of a larger attempt to revoke federal firearm licenses.
"I believe it is their intent to revoke as many licenses as possible to squeeze them down to the large sellers such as Bass Pro, Academy Sports, things of this nature, so they can keep a very close eye on who is and who is not selling firearms," Skelton said. "I think they want to squeeze the small business person out the best possible way they can."
John Ham, spokesman for the ATF’s Kansas City field division, said the agency’s inquiries were routine: the law requires that the ATF check whether gun manufacturers and sellers are in compliance with local zoning and business regulations. The only time those questions are asked, he said, is when the agency is considering issuing new licenses or renewing existing ones.
"That’s what is prompting our inquiries — trying to put people into the firearms business," Ham said. "It has nothing to do with taking people out of the firearms business."
Reached on the phone Thursday afternoon, Skelton rejected that explanation.
"I do not trust the ATF at all," he said. "I think they will use anything they can to revoke licenses."

Squeezing the small, licensed firearms dealer out of business is also an objective. It's ultimately about government control.

State vehicle registrations have make, model and year, so it should be easy enough to query for F-150s made before a certain date. That would not give you all of them, but a big percentage.

[Shafaq News] China launched military drills around Taiwan on Saturday, in what it called a "stern warning" to the self-ruled island's government following a meeting between its president and the U.S. House speaker.

Many Walmarts are located near interstate exits. My local one for example. And you can bet Walmart will offer a deal on charging if you buy a Walmart Plus membership. They already have huge parking lots and most are located in commercial developments that are already served by more electrical infrastructure than the average residential neighborhood.
This is something Amazon has no way to compete with, short of making a big real estate and infrastructure investment.

Dallas-Fort Worth area shoppers could find a dozen eggs priced between $2.50 to $2.99 at most area grocers this past week. That’s still about 40% higher than before the avian flu, but a bigger improvement from the peak price in January of almost $5.
The hen supply is recovering from the deadly avian flu that forced U.S. farmers to kill more than 40 million egg-laying hens last year. Wild birds, which were the source of the avian flu, are migrating north again. "By midsummer, we’ll know if the virus has run its course," Anderson said.
It takes six months for chicks to become fully grown and begin producing eggs. The supply of hens laying eggs to be hatched and hens producing eggs to be eaten are both up from a year ago, Anderson said. "But we’re still behind."
Eggs were an average of $1.79 a dozen in December 2021, a couple of months before the avian flu caused 43 million laying hens to be euthanized. Eggs were big contributors to inflation last year as Dallas-Fort Worth grocery prices increased more than 14%, one of the highest for metro areas tracked by government economists.
Prices for cage-free, vegetarian-fed, organic and omega-3 eggs, which are produced by hens fed a diet containing flaxseed, are about twice as expensive as USDA Grade A eggs.

I used to write little quality presentations for weekly construction meetings, one of them was on the Thresher, (below). Sorry about the verbosity.
The Soviets were hard pressed to keep up with the Americans, so schedule pressures drove their ballistic missile submarine program. Roger Mudd said, in the History Channel program, that there are 17 nuclear submarines at the bottom of the ocean. Thirteen are Soviet. That’s 76%.
At least two submarine losses were American – the Thresher, in 1963 and the Scorpion, five years later. I’m old enough to remember both. The Thresher was the first of the Navy’s new attack subs – the fastest and quietest yet produced. Like the K-19, it had a problem with consistent and uniform welds. Submarine pressure hulls are 3-1/2” inches thick, and the welding of such thick metal requires precise procedures and precision work. The Thresher experienced some problems with welds on her shakedown cruise, so she returned to port for some weld repairs.
Not enough repairs, apparently. On the next dive of the Thresher, the Captain reported “a minor difficulty” from a maximum-depth dive. The Captain said he was about to “emergency blow”, which would rocket the sub to the surface and carry her halfway out of the water in white foam. But then the Thresher was silent, and moments later, sonar crews heard the hull of the Thresher crush. All 129 sailors and military and civilian technicians aboard were lost.
The subsequent investigation suggests the sub had another weld defect show up at the maximum depth, but the Captain was confident he could surface with the emergency blow procedure. Later tests discovered, however, that at that pressure, a filter in the emergency blow piping instantly froze over, rendering the procedure useless. The sub’s “Plan B” failed, and she lost depth control, and was crushed.
While the U.S. Navy had better quality control in the nuclear submarine program than the Soviets, one unforeseen condition that could have been discovered in a thorough testing program was a significant factor in the loss of the Thresher. Her loss at sea is often considered a watershed event in the implementation of the Navy’s rigorous submarine safety program called SUBSAFE.
That’s why many people do not like being on the ‘cutting edge’ of technology, and why State Agencies are so reluctant to change. Cutting edge technology is fraught with hidden disasters unless you have conducted a thorough test program to evaluate all “practical” potential operational conditions where a failure – or string of failures - might lead to catastrophe. So the “moral of the story” is to have some respect for the conventional means and methods, and approved plans and specifications of the contract. Approach the “cutting edge” with caution and respect.

The reason the Thresher sunk was because we were still using using WW2 construction and safety proceedures. At test depth we were going slow because WW2 subs were battery driven and went slow at deep depths. WW2 subs also had strainers on there ballast tank blow vents. The Thresher broke a valve during test depth test and headed up at ver slow speed. The strainers froze and stopped air flow into the ballast tanks when sub made it to about 300 feet. The sub stopped accenting because strainers froze, at about test depth blow started again and they made it to 600ft and then sunk. All subs were taken into dry dock to install “sub safe”, ie remove the strainers. And test procedures at test depth were changed.
