Time for some layoffs.

  • The FAA closed the airspace around Havre, Montana, for around an hour on Saturday night due to 'an object that could interfere with commercial air traffic'

#2  When the 'Peace Dividend' was cashed in the the 90s, they did away with the interceptors on the coasts. That decision played out on 9/11 when nothing was really at hand to act. The one interceptor they sent up had no ammunition on it.

Same with budget priorities since. Local Air National Guard fighter units have been disappearing across the country. It's a little late to rebuild a fire department after you closed it down and stuff starts burning.

Air Defense missile sites have long been gone. Cause you know the Air Force will stop them long before they can get into the motherland.

NJ school chief stunningly victim-blames bullied teen Adriana Kuch's suicide on drug use, dad's 'affair'; attackers’ charges upgraded, superintendent resigns
[NYPOST] A New Jersey school superintendent shifted blame for 14-year-old Adriana Kuch’s death onto the bullied teen and her devastated dad — claiming the youngster used drugs, and that her father’s "affair" led to her inner turmoil.

When asked what school services were provided to Adriana before she took her own life days after she was beaten at school, superintendent Triantafillos Parlapanides babbled on about the grieving family’s private pain.

"Her father was having an affair at the end of her 6th grade. Her father married the woman he had an affair with and moved her into the house," Parlapanides, superintendent of Central Regional High School in Berkeley Township, wrote in an email to the Daily Mail.

"Her grades and choices declined in 7th and 8th grade. We offered her drug rehab and mental services on five occasions but the father refused every time," he said.

The administrator then sunk deeper into the dark revelation, claiming the alleged affair played a role in the death of Adriana’s birth mom.

"We tried helping her several times but mother’s suicide was a major reason she started making poor choices," the school official said.

  • Kuch committed suicide two days after the attack

TurkeySyriaEarthquake: Death toll rises over 24,000 27,000 28,000, 85700 injured

Survivors still being found as Turkey-Syria earthquake death toll tops 28,000

[IsraelTimes] Rescue crews on Saturday pulled more survivors, including entire families, from toppled buildings despite diminishing hopes as the corpse count of the enormous quake that struck a border region of The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
and Syria five days ago surpassed 28,000.

Dramatic rescues were being broadcast on Ottoman Turkish television, including the rescue of the Narli family in central Kahramanmaras 133 hours after the quake struck early Monday. First, 12-year-old Nehir Naz Narli was saved, then both of her parents.

That followed the rescue earlier in the day of a family of five from a mound of debris in the hard-hit town of Nurdagi, in Gaziantep province, TV network HaberTurk reported. Rescuers cheered and chanted, "God is Great!" as the last family member, the father, was lifted to safety.

The rescues came amid growing frustration over the Ottoman Turkish government’s response to the earthquake, which has killed 24,617 people and injured at least 80,000 people in Turkey alone. The total number of dead across the region, including government and rebel-held parts of Syria, is at least 28,170.

Ottoman Turkish President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than there are in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really most important...
, on a tour of quake-stricken cities, said the scope of the disaster was rare, both in terms of the size of the affected area and the number of people living there. He called the earthquake the "disaster of the century" and said it had impacted an area 500 kilometers (310 miles) in diameter that is home to 13.5 million people in Turkey and an unknown number in Syria.

"In some parts of our settlements close to the fault line, we can say that almost no stone was left standing," he said earlier Saturday from Diyarbakir.

Still, the day brought one astonishing rescue after another, numbering more than a dozen.

Even though experts say trapped people can live for a week or more, the odds of finding more survivors were quickly waning amid freezing temperatures. Rescuers were shifting to thermal cameras to help identify life amid the rubble, a sign that any remaining survivors could be too weak to call for help.

A large makeshift graveyard was under construction on the outskirts of Antakya on Saturday. Backhoes and bulldozers dug pits in the field on the northeastern edge of the city as trucks and ambulances loaded with black body bags arrived continuously. Soldiers directing traffic on the busy adjacent road warned motorists not to take photographs.

The hundreds of graves, spaced no more than 3 feet (a meter) apart, were marked with simple wooden planks set vertically in the ground.

A worker with Turkey’s Ministry of Religious Affairs who did not wish to be identified because of orders not to share information with the media said that around 800 bodies were brought to the cemetery Friday, its first day of operation. By midday on Saturday, he said, as many as 2,000 had been buried.

"People who are coming out from the rubble now, it’s a miracle if they survive. Most of the people that come out now are dead, and they come here," he said.

Temperatures remained below freezing across the large region, and many people have no shelter. The Ottoman Turkish government has distributed millions of hot meals, as well as tents and blankets, but is still struggling to reach many people in need.

The disaster compounded suffering in a region beset by Syria’s 12-year civil war, which has displaced millions of people within the country and left them dependent on aid. The fighting sent millions more to seek refuge in Turkey.

The conflict has isolated many areas of Syria and complicated efforts to get aid in. The United Nations
...where theory meets practice and practice loses...
said the first earthquake-related aid convoy crossed from Turkey into northwestern Syria on Friday, the day after an aid shipment planned before the disaster arrived.

The UN refugee agency estimated that as many as 5.3 million people have been left homeless in Syria.

Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Trampler of Homs...
and his wife have visited injured quake victims in a hospital in the coastal city of Latakia, a base of support for the Syrian leader.

Syrian state TV said Assad and his wife Asma on Saturday morning visited Duha Nurallah, 60, and her son Ibrahim Zakariya, 22, who were pulled out of rubble the night before in the nearby coastal town of Jableh.

The head of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, arrived in Syria’s northern city of Aleppo on Saturday, bringing with him 35 tons of medical equipment, state news agency SANA reported. He said another plane carrying an additional 30 tons of medical equipment will arrive in the coming days.

The opposition Syrian Civil Defense, also known as the White Helmets, said Saturday that it "is almost impossible to find people alive."

The total corpse count in Syria’s northwestern rebel-held region has reached 2,166, according to the White Helmets. The overall corpse count in Syria stood at 3,553 on Saturday, though the 1,387 deaths reported for government-held parts of the country hasn’t been updated in days.

criticized the response of rescue and relief forces and said that they should have reacted faster to the big earthquake, the number of victims in southern Turkey and northwestern Syria neared 25,000.

The number of deaths in Turkey alone rose to 20,923 on Saturday while more than 3,500 were killed in Syria.

United Nations
...the Oyster Bay money pit...
says up to 5.3 million people in Syria may be homeless after the earthquakes, while nearly 900,000 people are in urgent need of hot food in Turkey and Syria.

"As many as 5.3 million people in Syria may have been left homeless by the earthquake," Sivanka Dhanapala, the Syria representative of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) said on Friday, adding "that is a huge number and comes to a population already suffering mass displacement."

Turkey’s Vice President Fuat Oktay told news hounds that with the efforts of 31,000 rescuers throughout the affected area, 67 people were rescued from the rubble in the last 24 hours.

He added that about 80,000 people are being treated in hospitals, while 1.05 million people have been made homeless by the earthquake and have been accommodated in temporary shelters.

"Our main goal is to ensure that they return to a normal life by delivering permanent housing to them within one year, and that they heal their pain as soon as possible," Oktay said.

Syrian state media also announced that Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad

SSC elder welcomes Somaliland’s declaration of Las Anod ceasefire
[ShabelleMedia] A leading traditional elder from SSC has welcomed decision by the breakaway region of Somaliland to announce the ceasefire in Las Anod after 6 day fighting.

Garad Jama, who is the focal point of the SSC leadership said their side is ready for the cession of the hostility, if Somaliland is committed to silencing the guns and start dialogue.

"We are fully ready to the ceasefire and welcome the Somaliland declaration, if the opposing side wants to find the solution through a peaceful way, why we reject it," said Garad Jama.

The move comes after the sides engaged in a heavy and deadly shootouts in the northern Somali city that led to the deaths of more than 100 people, most of them unarmed civilians.

Somaliland withdrew troops from Las Anod last month after weeks of protests calling for an autonomy, a demand that Hargeisa is defiant to accept as it against its so-called independence.

Last month, Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi accused the "enemy of Somaliland" of being behind the conflict in Las Anod, pointing the finger at Puntland
...a region in northeastern Somalia, centered on Garowe in the Nugaal province. Its leaders declared the territory an autonomous state in 1998. Puntland and the equally autonomous Somaliland seem to have avoided the clan rivalries and warlordism that have typified the rest of Somalia, which puts both places high on the list for Islamic subversion...
and federal government.

This latest fighting also comes amid a dispute over the future status of territories in eastern Somaliland, where a significant number of the locals appear to support unity with Somalia.

Meanwhile,
...back at the barn, a little lightbulb figuratively appeared over Bossy's head...
Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and international community, including the US called for the cessation of hostilities in Las Anod. He said in a speech the conflict in Las Anod requires a "political solution."

The federal government also said it welcomes the decision of the people of Las Anod to support solidarity with Somalia.

McDonald's agree to take down 'McCrispy' advertising billboard that was erected next to sign for local crematorium
"McDonald's have agreed to take down a 'McCrispy' advertising billboard that was put up next to a road sign for a local crematorium.

Although some found the advertisement hilarious, others were less than impressed to find it featured on a bus stop opposite Penmount Crematorium on a road in Truro, Cornwall.

The brightly-coloured billboard featuring the signature McCrispy sparked a large amount of online controversy as it gathered a mixed reaction from motorists on the A39."

Dunno. I kind of like it:

#10  Back in July my wife and I observed two very high altitude pinpoints of light moving west to east (time was around 1100 in the AM with blue skies). The first was a bright pinpoint with an an accompanying object flying in tandem that was different since it was refracting light which made it appear as if it was rolling forward. It was weird enough that I called a friend who could not find anything on the flight records at that time. Odd, so I started researching this phenomena - my research resulted in the following - an article out of the Ukraine... https://thedebrief.org/cosmics-and-phantoms-ukrainian-independent-study-reveals-observations-of-unidentified-aerial-phenomena/

Initially I thought we may have observed the same cosmic or phantom phenomena of at least two in formation or squadrons as they call it... Now I am curious if the high altitude balloons are just one part of a larger effort.

    Government Corruption
Did U.S. Manufacturing Aid in the Construction of the Chinese Spy Balloon?
And here it is, the story we've all been waiting for.
[PJ Media] Senators received a classified briefing from the Pentagon on Thursday and were told that the idea that the Chinese balloon was partly manufactured using parts made in the U.S. couldn’t be dismissed. When asked that question directly, officials gave no definitive answer.

"American companies shouldn’t be helping build spy satellites that are used against their own citizens," Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska) told reporters at the Capitol after the briefing. "Maybe there’s nothing to be said about that," he added, "but somebody asked about it, and nobody, nobody in that briefing said, ’oh, it’s not a problem.'"

Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley had other concerns. "Obviously, the other thing that it made was crystal clear from this briefing was how unprepared, totally unprepared the administration and, frankly, the Pentagon was for this to happen," he told Fox News Digital.

"And listen, they’ve already made it public that we’ve known that there have been previous balloon flights over U.S. territories and, of course, the United States in years past. They knew that already, and yet they had nothing prepared to deal with this espionage balloon that came right over the United States. I mean, it’s really, it is an incredible, incredible lack of planning. And frankly, I think major, major lapses of judgment," Hawley said.

Fox News confirmed that the Chinese balloon had western made parts with English writing, according to a source familiar with classified briefing Thursday.
However, the State Department said earlier Thursday: "We are confident that the balloon manufacturer has a direct relationship with China’s military and is an approved vendor of the PLA, according to information published in an official procurement portal for the PLA."

Sullivan also said that he is encouraging officials to keep briefings on the spy balloon, which was reported to be hovering over Alaska last week before traversing most of the U.S. mainland before being shot down Saturday by a U.S. military missile.

If U.S.-manufactured parts ended up in a Chinese spy balloon, the first questions Congress needs to ask is which company supplied the parts and how did they get on a green list for the Chinese military? The next thing Congress needs to do is ban U.S. companies from selling or manufacturing anything to the Chinese military.

But it’s not surprising. Lenin had the right idea when he was quoted as saying, "The Capitalists will sell us the rope with which we will hang them."

Kurdistan ‘strongly’ rejects accusation of selling oil to Israel
[Shafaq News] On Saturday, the Kurdish Ministry of Natural Resources denied allegations of smuggling oil from Erbil in tankers and selling it to Israel.

The news was circulated on some Iraqi outlets claiming that Israel is indirectly buying oil from Iraqi Kurdistan.

The Ministry "strongly rejects these rumors," considering it the "enemy's attempt to undermine the deal between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government."

"Kurdistan's oil is fully exported through the pipeline and under the supervision of the international professional services network Deloitte."

The Ministry confirms that Erbil always respects the Iraqi constitution and federal laws.

It is worth noting that Deloitte prepares regular reports and conducts periodic audits in cooperation with the Kurdish government in the oil sector. The reports are continuously published for the public.

Five dead in shooting rampage inside Philippine army camp
A tragic thing that happens from time to time, but this time not War on Terror. Of interest to us because the last few paragraphs discuss a similar attack by an Abu Sayyaf (ISIS in the southern Philippines) turban last October who’d been hired as a menial, and when American troops added their skills alongside the Philippine army to recapture Marawi City from ISIS in 2017.
[BenarNews] A soldier ran amok inside an army camp in the southern Philippines on Saturday, killing four fellow soldiers and wounding another, the military said.

The suspect, identified as Private Johmar Villabito, of the Army's Service Support Battalion (SSBn), was himself killed in a shootout when two soldiers tried to subdue him.

An investigation has been launched to determine what triggered the deadly rampage in Cagayan de Oro city, the military said. There were initial fears — later dismissed — that state enemies were behind the attack, because Islamic State
