Man's body found inside beer cooler at SunTrust Park, Cobb cops say
[Atlanta Constipation] A body was found Tuesday afternoon inside a walk-in beer cooler at SunTrust Park, according to a Cobb County police spokeswoman.

The man was a third-party contractor and was found by a fellow worker, Officer Sarah O’Hara said.

When asked if foul play was suspected, O’Hara said: "This is still an active investigation so I am unable to speculate whether or not foul play is a factor."

She said the person’s identity would not be released until the family was notified.

O’Hara said the Braves are helping with the investigation.

The Braves played the Cincinnati Reds at 7:35 p.m. as scheduled Tuesday. The team is set to play the Reds on Wednesday at 12:10 p.m.

Man arrested after he jumps on plane wing, pounds on windows at Atlanta airport, police say
[WSB-2] ATLANTA - Officials at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport say a man has been apprehended on the tarmac of the airport after he scaled a fence, jumped on the wing of a plane and pounded on the windows.

The incident happened shortly before 5 p.m. and did not impact airport operations.

Atlanta Police arrested Jhryin Jones, 19, on the tarmac. He was taken into custody and charged with criminal trespassing, public indecency and obstruction of law enforcement officers.

Channel 2's Rikki Klaus obtained recordings from the control tower and the cockpit as the incident was unfolding.

"He is tossing some stuff around. My guess is he has his clothes off and now he’s laying on pavement...doing some pushups," an official on the recording said.

Cell phone video shot by passengers shows Jones talking to himself and making gestures toward the plane, which had just landed from Miami.

Fentanyl Laced Flyer: A Texas Deputy Touched A Piece Of Paper And Ended Up In The Hospital
[USA Today] A Texas deputy was treated at a hospital and then released on Tuesday after she touched a flyer suspected of being laced with fentanyl, a potent and potentially deadly opioid.

The sergeant found a flyer on her windshield, removed it and soon began feeling light-headed, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said.

She went to the hospital for treatment, according to Gonzalez. A Tuesday afternoon tweet from the sheriff's office said the deputy was treated for possible fentanyl exposure and released from the hospital.

An investigation revealed that the flyers had been placed on more than 10 vehicles, and one of the fliers tested positive for fentanyl, Gonzalez said.

The positive fentanyl test did not come from the flyer on the sickened sergeant's vehicle, but all flyers are currently being tested, a spokesman for the Harris County Sheriff's office told USA TODAY in an email.

The fliers were found on cars near a precinct that houses the Houston-area sheriff's department's violent crime unit and homicide division.

"We're on high alert at this time because, obviously, with this being a police facility, we don't know if it was intended to target law enforcement or perhaps it was just randomly placed here," Gonzalez said.

At Least 21 Shot in 14 Hours in Gun-Controlled Chicago
[Breitbart] The Chicago Tribune reports that the 11-year-old was "shot while walking to the store" and a 13-year-old was shot as bullets sprayed in another incident, killing one man and wounding two more. Two other individuals under the age of 18 were also shot during the 14 hours of violence.

Six individuals were wounded in another shooting where the gunman or gunmen simply opened fire, and four were wounded when a 19-year-old gunman opened fire "outside in the 12300 block of South Yale Avenue in West Pullman around 10:50 p.m." Someone returned fire on the 19-year-old, fatally wounding him with a shot to the chest.

In another incident, a 46-year-old man was sitting in a car when the passenger became embroiled in an argument with another party. Shots rang out and the 46-year-old was shot seven times in the chest, killing him.

On June 5, 2018, Breitbart News reported that over 1,000 people had been shot in gun-controlled Chicago year-to-date. Thirty-eight individuals were shot, eight fatally, over Memorial Day Weekend alone, yet the left’s solution to the failure of gun control has been to push for more gun control.

Virginia mother shoots armed man, 25, who flew 8,500 miles from New Zealand and tried to break into her home
[Daily Mail, Where America Gets Its News] A man from New Zealand was shot after he travelled to the home of a 14-year-old girl in Virginia he was reportedly communicating with online.

Troy George Skinner, 25, was shot on Friday after he allegedly smashed a glass door and tried to enter the home in Goochland, Virginia.

He is now fighting for his life after being shot in the neck by the girl's mother. The FBI are investigating the shooting.

The Goochland County sheriff said Skinner bought a knife and duct tape after arriving in the U.S.

The sheriff also said the girl's mother saw a man trying to enter her home and began banging on the door with a brick.

The mom who was at home with her two daughters at the time warned him several times that she had a gun.

Skinner then threw the brick through the glass door and the teenage girl's mother fired twice, hitting Skinner once in the neck.

'All I can say is the manner in which he attempted to enter that home in the face of a firearm pointed at him and the implements we recovered from him - the only inference is that he had very bad intent,' Agnew said.

'He was not invited here, he was not expected here, he had been told in the past that the daughter no longer wished to communicate with him.'

C-5 Galaxy: 50 years of history, thousands of jobs for Marietta
[CMGdigital] The C-5 Galaxy embarked on its first flight for the U.S. Air Force in June 1968. Fifty years later, Gov. Nathan Deal called it the "ambassador of the skies" – and an economic development coup for Georgia.

The massive cargo-hauling plane, which dwarfed others on the runways outside the Lockheed Martin plant, was designed in Marietta to carry tanks, helicopters and other weighty equipment as far as 8,000 miles.

In a tribute to one of the world's largest aircraft – it can carry a whopping 125,000 pounds – the celebration Tuesday emphasized the aircraft's military contribution and its economic one.

The plant employs more than 5,000 people with a $700 million annual economic impact that has helped transform the region's economy. At its height, the company had more than 30,000 building C-5 aircraft in the 1960s.

"You have made Marietta and the entire state of Georgia the envy of much of the world, and within our state, the envy of much of the state of Georgia," Deal said.

The towering airplane has a storied history. It has participated in high-profile missions in Argentina, Iraq and Israel.

The C-5 Galaxy isn't going anywhere soon. The Air Force partnered with Lockheed Martin in 2006 to retool the aircraft with a goal of extending its life. The final stage of that project will wrap up in 2018, and military officials said its shelf life should last until 2045.

"These boys," Deal said, "they last a long time."

Gander, NF Canada gets another June snowstorm June 26
[WashingtonPost] The city of Gander in Newfoundland woke up to several inches of snow Tuesday
[26 June]
despite the calendar confirming that July was just four days away.

"I got up and I looked out to the window, and I felt like going back to bed again, really," John Lushman said in an interview with the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. "The truck was there with four, five inches of snow all over, and the patio has three or four inches all over the patio, and the driveway has four or five inches..."

According to Rodney Barney, a meteorologist at Environment Canada, Gander reported 2 centimeters
[different from the Lushman report but Gander is hilly and elevation differences in snow accumulation are common]
of snow at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, which was a record for accumulating snow so late in the season. The previous record was June 14, 1976. Snow depth records date back from 1955, according to Barney.

Supreme Court deals major financial blow to nation's public employee unions
A deeply divided Supreme Court dealt a major blow to the nation's public employee unions Wednesday that likely will result in a loss of money, members and political muscle.

After three efforts in 2012, 2014 and 2016 fell short, the court's conservative majority ruled 5-4 that unions cannot collect fees from non-members to help defray the costs of collective bargaining. Justice Samuel Alito wrote the decision, with dissents from Justices Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor.

About 5 million workers could be affected by the ruling, which overrules the court's 1977 decision in Abood v. Detroit Board of Education ‐ those who pay dues or "fair-share" fees to unions in 23 states where public employees can be forced to contribute. Workers in 27 states cannot be forced to join or pay unions.

"We recognize that the loss of payments from nonmembers may cause unions to experience unpleasant transition costs in the short term and may require unions to make adjustments in order to attract and retain members," Alito wrote. "But we must weigh these disadvantages against the considerable windfall that unions have received under Abood for the past 41 years."

Justice Neil Gorsuch cast the deciding vote against what conservative opponents have labeled a form of compelled speech. The money helps labor unions maintain political power in some of the nation's most populous states, including California, New York, Illinois, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Gorsuch, who had remained silent during oral argument in February, was the key because the court had deadlocked in a similar case two years ago following the death of Justice Antonin Scalia. The newest justice recently authored the court's 5-4 ruling that denied workers the right to join together in class action lawsuits rather than submit employer-sponsored arbitration.

The 2016 case challenged a powerful teachers union in California; the new one targeted state employees in Illinois. But the threatened impact was the same: elimination of fees paid by police, firefighters, teachers and other government workers who don't join the unions that represent them.

The landmark ruling overrules the court's own 41-year-old precedent, which said workers did not have to pay for unions' political activity but could be required to contribute to other costs of representation, such as wage and benefit negotiations and grievance procedures.

The court's decision frees those non-members from the fees, but unions also are braced to lose some dues-paying members who stand to save more under the new rule. That could force unions to raise dues on those who remain.

The case, Janus v. American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees, was backed by conservative groups that have tried for years to overturn the court's 1977 decision upholding the fees for collective bargaining but not for political action.

The court ruled 7-2, 5-4 and 4-4 on three similar cases in the past six years, eating away at the 1977 decision without overruling it entirely. In 2016, Scalia's death a month after oral arguments denied conservatives their fifth vote.

The decision comes at a time when 61% of Americans approve labor unions -- the highest rating in Gallup polls since 2003 -- and teachers' strikes have roiled states from West Virginia and Kentucky to Oklahoma, Colorado and Arizona.

"The fictional narrative of labor’s downfall is being upended by the reality working people are creating for ourselves," AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka said recently. "No matter the outcome of this case, millions of workers will continue to stand together to build a stronger, fairer America."

It remains unclear what impact the ruling will have on organized labor in general, which has suffered a 70-year decline in union membership. The nation's roughly 15 million union members make up less than 11% of the workforce, a drop from 35% during World War II. The decline is magnified in the private sector, where only 6.5% of workers remain unionized.

In the public sector, more than one in three workers belong to a union, a percentage that has held relatively steady for decades. AFSCME, the National Education Association, Service Employees International Union and American Federation of Teachers now face a likely loss of members.

Some groups that have fought to end compulsory fees argue that unions can stave off membership declines by better representing workers. They cite data from states such as Indiana and Michigan after the enactment of right-to-work laws.

China-Japan-Koreas
Satellite images show North Korea upgrading nuclear research facility
[The Hill] Satellite images from last week show that North Korea is making numerous improvements to the infrastructure at a nuclear research facility, according to a new study.

The images, obtained by North Korea analysis outlet 38 North, come just weeks after President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un signed an agreement that called for a denuclearized Korean peninsula.

The satellite photos indicate that North Korea is quickly progressing on several adjustments to the Yongbyon Nuclear Scientific Research Center.

The improvements include a new cooling water pump house, multiple new buildings, completed construction on a cooling water reservoir and an apparently active Radiochemical Laboratory. It is unclear whether the reactor is still in operation, the report said.

38 North notes that North Korean nuclear officials are expected to proceed with "business as usual" until Kim orders official changes to procedure.

The agreement between Trump and Kim, signed at the historic summit in Singapore earlier this month, commits the U.S. to "security guarantees" in exchange for a denuclearized Korean peninsula. Critics said that the deal was unspecific and gave too much to North Korea without securing anything for the U.S. in return.

Ahead of the meeting between the two leaders, North Korea claimed to have destroyed its Punggye-ri nuclear testing site.

China's Trade War Pain
My brother in the Philippines sent me snippets from the article. I'm not sure how he got behind the WSJ pay wall. I don't think he can afford a subscription.
[WSJ] SHANGHAI‐China’s main stock benchmark has entered a bear market, the latest gloomy sign for the country alongside escalating trade tensions with the U.S., a tumbling currency and recent data that suggest its growth is softening.

The Shanghai bourse is dominated by China's largest state-owned companies, such as banks, energy companies and airlines. Among its biggest losers this year are steelmakers such as Maanshan Iron & Steel, down 10.7%, and brokerages such as Huatai Securities, down 16.1%.

Declines in the $4.9 trillion Shanghai market quickened a week ago, when the index plunged 3.8%, its worst day since Feb. 9 when Chinese stocks were caught up in a world-wide selloff.

A year-to-date fall of around 14% makes the Shanghai Composite one of the world's worst-performing large stock indexes. By comparison, the S&P 500 is up slightly for the year, while both the MSCI All-Country Asia Pacific and Stoxx Europe 600 indexes are down about 3%.

Chinese stocks have been hit harder by escalating trade tensions than U.S. markets during the past week, as investors have become more nervous that mutual threats of tariffs on hundreds of billions of dollars worth of goods are more than just a negotiating tactic from both governments.
Seems like the Chinese are presently selling a lot more to the U.S. than vice-versa. Wouldn't that make their pain greater than ours? Potentially.
Analysts say the yuan's recent slide against the U.S. dollar has dampened overseas investors' interest in China's markets in recent weeks. The Chinese currency is down 0.6% against the greenback in 2018.
Look for the MSM to pick this up as soon as there is a (D) elected, who they can credit for this good news.

Subject to the execution of definitive agreements and receipt of construction approvals, the project is expected to be in service in late 2020, coinciding with growth and scale Permian production as well as Apache’s production forecast for Alpine High, said Brian Freed, Apache’s senior vice-president, midstream and marketing (OGJ Online, Sept. 7, 2016).

Natural gas supply will be sourced into the PHP Project from multiple locations, including the companies’ existing systems in the Permian basin, with additional interconnections to both intrastate and interstate pipeline systems in the Waha area. The PHP Project will hold capacity on KMI’s intrastate pipeline systems in the market area, enabling gas delivery to the Katy market hub, the Agua Dulce market hub, the Coastal Bend and Kinder Morgan Tejas headers connected to the Freeport LNG export facility, the Cheniere header connected to the Cheniere Corpus Christi LNG export facility, and numerous pipelines along the Texas Gulf Coast.

Working-age Illinois Residents Are Fleeing the State Amid Debt Crisis
[Free Beacon] An Illinois Policy Institute analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data found that Illinois's working-age population declined by 41,000 from July 2016 to July 2017, even though the United States' prime working-age population grew by almost 450,000 over the same time period. The state also saw slower population growth in every working-age population category, which includes people between the ages of 25-54.

"Illinois is losing its workforce to other states because of its bad economic policies. A shrinking workforce has serious implications for the long-term health of our state’s economy," said Orphe Divounguy, chief economist at the Illinois Policy Institute. "The state should be focused on making it an appealing decision for working-age people and young families to plant roots in Illinois through policies that will reduce the cost of doing business and improve living standards."

The state has been entrenched in a crisis during a period of economic stability in the rest of the nation. Illinois experienced 28 percent slower income growth than the rest of the United States from 2015 to 2016, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis. Hiring has also proved more rare; the unemployed face more hurdles in finding work than their counterparts in other states. Illinois job seekers stayed unemployed 33 percent longer than unemployed workers in the rest of the nation.

The dying Roman empire had the same problem. They attempted to solve it by introducing serfdom and basically enslaved the formerly free peasants to the land they were tilling. This gave the peasants even more reason to bug out and join the barbarians who would soon kick the old Empire to pieces.

Europe
Wind Power Increases Dependence on Fossil Fuels; Germany Must Soon Begin to Scrap Its Wind Units
h/t Gates of Vienna
A study analyzing energy supply in the European Union shows that increasing the level of wind-generated electricity also increases the level of fossil fuel-generated electricity, the opposite outcome suggested by those who argue that renewable energy is necessary to "get off carbon-based fuels." This is because, at times of insufficient wind, fossil-fuel plants generating plants are needed to provide back-up to the wind units. Further, the study found that increasing the number of power plants (whether wind or fossil-fuel) increased the power plant capacity that is idled, making the entire energy system less efficient and more costly. Wind turbines are idle when there is insufficient wind and fossil fuel plants are idled when the wind is blowing. Further adding to the issue is that, despite the increase in renewable energy in the European Union, carbon dioxide emissions increased, not decreased as was the intent. In 2017, the European Union increased its wind power by 25 percent and increased its solar power by six percent. Despite this massive investment in renewable energy, carbon dioxide emissions increased by 1.8 percent.

Henry McMaster wins S.C. runoff election after Trump visit
[Washington Times] COLUMBIA, S.C. ‐ One of President Donald Trump’s earliest and most loyal supporters won a key runoff Tuesday, as South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster fended off a challenge from a self-made millionaire to secure the Republican gubernatorial nomination.

The vote tested the heft of Trump’s endorsement in South Carolina, where McMaster, 71, was elevated to the governorship he’d long sought early last year following the departure of Nikki Haley to serve as U.N. ambassador. As lieutenant governor, McMaster was the nation’s first statewide elected official to back Trump, ahead of South Carolina’s early presidential primary.

McMaster - a former state attorney general and U.S. attorney who was elected lieutenant governor in 2014 - has had the last year and a half to develop the mantle of an incumbent. He’s tallied up economic development announcements and championed issues aligned with the president’s priorities, such as clamping down on sanctuary cities and restricting funding for groups affiliated with abortions.

In November’s general election, he’ll seek a full term for the office that eluded him in 2010, when he lost a four-way primary to Haley in his first bid for governor.

Chelsea Manning loses Senate bid
[Washington Examiner] Activist Chelsea Manning was defeated in a bid to deny Sen. Ben Cardin, D-Md., renomination on Tuesday.

Manning always faced an uphill battle against the incumbent Cardin. She lagged badly in fundraising and faced questions about how active she really was on the campaign trail. But the Manning campaign did attract national attention and some enthusiasm from liberal activists both in and outside of Maryland.

Then known as Bradley Manning, the Army intelligence analyst was convicted of leaking classified documents. Manning was hailed as a whistleblower by supporters and condemned as a threat to national security by critics.

President Barack Obama commuted Manning’s sentence. Manning transitioned into a woman, took the name Chelsea, and became an advocate for LGBT rights as well as enhanced privacy protections.

High-ranking House Democrat dealt surprise defeat at polls
NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Democratic Party’s insurgent left wing and Republican U.S. President Donald Trump each claimed big victories on Tuesday, as voters in seven states selected the parties’ candidates for November’s midterm elections that will determine control of Congress.

U.S. Representative Joseph Crowley, a high-ranking Democrat seen as a possible future leader of the chamber, lost his re-election bid in a stunning upset that highlighted the ideological battles at play in this year’s midterm elections.

Crowley, a 10-term incumbent who was fourth in line in the House of Representatives’ Democratic leadership, was defeated by 28-year-old challenger Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in a safely Democratic district in New York City.

Political analysts cast Ocasio-Cortez’s win as the biggest upset since House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, a Republican, lost in 2014 to a little-known right-wing professor, Dave Brat.

The outcome of the New York race added fuel to the battle between the Democratic Party’s establishment wing, led by longtime House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi, and a more liberal faction inspired by Bernie Sanders’ presidential run in 2016. Ocasio-Cortez served as an organizer for Sanders’ campaign.
Her priorities:
Banish ICE
Medicare For All
Free Education
Open Borders
Universal Jobs Guarantee
Housing As a Human Right
Invest in 100% Renewable Energy
"Justice System Reform" = open the jails

She went to Boston University, where she studied economics and international relations. After graduation she took up bartending and waitressing jobs to supplement her mother's income as a housecleaner and bus driver.

"NAB may ask the interior ministry to contact Interpol for issuance of red warrants for Mr Dar and Hasan and Hussain Nawaz so that they could be brought back to face the corruption references in the accountability court," a source in NAB told Dawn on Monday.

Hasan and Hussain have already been declared proclaimed offenders in the corruption case. Dar is staying in London on medical grounds.

2 pilots martyred as PAF aircraft crashes at Peshawar Air Base
[DAWN] Two Pakistain Air Force (PAF) pilots were martyred on Tuesday when a trainer aircraft crashed during landing at the Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire.

Wing Commander Umar and Flying Officer Israr bit the dust in the incident, PAF officials confirmed to DawnNewsTV.

The accident, according to the Air Force, took place when the aircraft was returning from a routine training mission.

"Pakistain Air Force reports with regret that a PAF FT-7PG trainer aircraft, while recovering from a routine operational training mission, crashed during landing at Peshawar Air Base," the PAF statement reads.
