Wedding-bell booze blues
[NYPOST] The Times of London reports that an Australian man showed up drunk for his wedding, whereupon the priest called the whole thing off. The would-be groom then decked the priest, and when cops arrived, the would-be bride ran from the church and declared the relationship finished forever. And you thought you had a bad day.

Meet the US Senate Candidate Who's Standing With Cliven Bundy
Georgia Senate candidate Derrick Grayson didn't have much going on last Saturday so he headed out to Nevada to check out Cliven Bundy's ranch and meet with the rancher whose armed standoff with the Bureau of Land Management, and whose musings about "the negro" and slavery, caused successive waves of headlines and national curiosity.

"That particular Saturday, I didn't have anything on my schedule," Grayson, who is black, told ABC News in a phone interview. "I wasn't going to campaign. I had the time, so I decided to fly out there on my own nickel to say hello."

The network engineer, faith-based volunteer, first-time candidate and self-proclaimed "minister of truth," is fighting an uphill battle for Georgia's Republican Senate nomination, running in a seven-way May 20 primary against David Perdue, the businessman, former Dollar General CEO, and cousin of former governor Sonny Perdue; the Sarah-Palin-endorsed former Georgia secretary of State Karen Handel; GOP Reps. Paul Broun, Phil Gingrey, and Jack Kingston; and patent attorney Art Gardner.

Grayson records YouTube videos on politics from his car and operates an all-volunteer campaign staff.

After Bundy speculated that African-Americans might be better off as slaves, prompting erstwhile supporters in the national political sphere to yank any potential affiliation, Grayson did the opposite.

He recorded a YouTube video defending Bundy and remarking: "What the man said is nothing I have not said. Now some people might be trippin' because he used the word 'colored,' but that's what they used to call us back in the day," accusing the national media of seeking to divide Americans and detract from the substance of Bundy's dispute with BLM by emphasizing his comments on race.

Grayson promised in that same video to visit Bundy after his May 20 primary, but with a free day, he flew out early. Grayson described the experience to ABC News.

"I went out there to show my support for him, because I understand the seriousness of government overreach, and I wanted to thank him for being an example of how an American stands up to tyrannical rule," Grayson said, calling the visit "enlightening."

"[I] toured the ranch, I met the militia members," Grayson said.

He and Bundy "hung out, laughed, and we talked about his issues. I got a firsthand account about what's going on. Rumors were dispelled about infighting between militia members, which was not the case."

Grayson called Bundy a "personable man, very friendly, and he's a Constitutionalist."

About 100 supporters are still gathered on Bundy's ranch, Grayson told ABC. In support of Bundy's resistance to BLM's attempt to seize his cattle herd, after he illegally grazed them on federally owned land, supporters gathered at Bundy's ranch outside Las Vegas last month, many of them bearing sidearms.

Last month, BLM spokesman Craig Leff, told The New York Times that BLM had shifted focus from its attempt to confiscate Bundy's cattle.

"Our focus is pursuing this matter administratively and judicially," Leff told the paper.

"This is a matter of fairness and equity, and we remain disappointed that Cliven Bundy continues to not comply with the same laws that 16,000 public lands ranchers do every year," BLM Director Neil Kornze said in an April 12 statement provided to ABC News.

Grayson told ABC they're now arranged in several campsites, their food stored in a makeshift warehouse lined with canned goods, bottled water and gatorade. One man with an RV lets Bundy supporters use his shower; on some days, supporters rent hotel rooms in which they can bathe. A "sentry" with a walkie-talkie prevents just anyone from wandering up to Bundy's house.

"Imagine roughing it, that's what they were doing," Grayson said.

Grayson wasn't the only black person there. He told ABC that he met two others who support Bundy in his struggle with BLM - and he stood by his assessment that Bundy is not a racist, comparing him to primary opponent Rep. Jack Kingston, who drew criticism for suggesting poor students should sweep cafeteria floors to accrue a work ethic.

"I understand where he was coming from. He maybe chose the wrong analogy like Mr. Kingston did," Grayson told ABC of Bundy's comment that the struggles of low-income African-Americans arose "because they never learned to pick cotton."

Neither man is a racist, and Bundy's comment was "not offensive,' Grayson said, telling ABC that government assistance has "created a culture of generational welfare" for African-Americans.

"My grandmother who picked cotton, and my mom who picked cotton as a child, my grandmother had a work ethic," Grayson added. "She had 13 children that she had to raise and ended up for a time moving into the projects, but because my grandmother had a work ethic, she didn't stay in the projects ... that's not how she wanted to raise her children."

One of Grayson's campaign volunteers originally filmed Bundy making those now-infamous remarks, Grayson said. Jason Patrick had traveled to Nevada to support Bundy, posting videos from the ranch on an account at the video site Bambuser throughout April. The full interview of Bundy, posted by Patrick, was later clipped and posted elsewhere, Grayson said.

The two did talk about race during Grayson's visit.

"Race doesn't matter to the people who are violating our constitutional principles," Grayson said, "but they make it matter to keep us divided."

One thing Grayson didn't come away with: a campaign contribution.

"I certainly didn't ask him for a donation, and nobody on my team better not have either, because that's not why I went out there," he said.

Tunisia Ministers Escape Censure over Israeli Tourists' Visit
[AnNahar] Censure motions against two Tunisian ministers accused of promoting "normalization" with Israel were withdrawn late Friday, just before deputies in the Islamist-dominated parliament were to vote on them.

The motions were filed last month against Tourism Minister Amel Karboul and Deputy Interior Minister for Security Ridha Sfar, with documents purporting to show that the latter gave written authorization for Israeli tourists to enter Tunisia earlier this year.

Karboul was also accused of receiving an Israeli delegation.
Because they aren't antisemites -- no, no, no, no, no, no!! -- but that they have a country of their very own is completely unacceptable and not to be tolerated!
It is an open secret that Israelis have been visiting Tunisia for years on the quiet.
*shrug* "They spend money. We don't ask where they come from."
And the parliamentary debate came just a week ahead of an annual pilgrimage that draws Jews from around the world to Tunisia's ancient Ghriba synagogue.

A vote had been expected in the evening but "the two motions of censure have been withdrawn", assembly president Mustapha Ben Jaafar announced to the assembled deputies.

"It was not our intention to attack the ministers. We wished to say that the normalization of ties with Israel in a red line," explained centrist deputy Iyed Dahmani, an avid supporter of the motions just hours earlier.

Leftist deputy Faycel Jadlaoui said the decision not to vote on the motions was due to the responses of the two ministers and the fact that half of the 80 signatories to the motion had withdrawn their support.

However,
those who apply themselves too closely to little things often become incapable of great things...

the news came as a surprise to some deputies in the chamber and led to heated exchanges.

Karboul denied receiving an Israeli delegation. She also defended her comments supporting the entry of tourists regardless of nationality, to boost a key sector of the Tunisian economy that was battered by the turbulence that followed the 2011 revolution.

And Sfar defended himself against charges of promoting normalization with Israel, saying he merely followed procedures that have been in force for years.

"The case is purely administrative... We do not deal with Israeli papers," Sfar said, explaining that the tourists coming from the Jewish state had been issued with Tunisian passes, because Tunis does not recognize Israeli passports.

Sfar justified his authorising the Israelis' entry by the need to respond to an "international campaign" accusing Tunisia of discrimination.

Prime Minister Mehdi Jomaa has tried to brush the matter aside, saying it is important the new tourism season is successful.

"Normalization yes? Normalization no? Let's put these great affairs aside," he said at the opening of an economic conference last month.

"Tourism professionals have advised that, for the tourist season to be a success, the Ghriba gathering must be a success."

The debate came just weeks after Israeli tourists aboard an American cruise ship were denied entry. In response, Miami-based Norwegian Cruise Line announced its ships would not return to Tunisia in a potentially severe blow to a struggling economy three years after the ouster of autocrat Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.

And earlier this week, Holland America Line announced that it was cancelling a port call by one of its ships on Saturday "due to ongoing issues regarding the requirements of visitor visas for some of our guests."

While expressing disappointment that the itinerary had to be adjusted, the company said "we continue to work with local Tunisian authorities and expect that future planned calls will operate as scheduled."

Like most other countries in the Arab world, the North African nation does not recognize Israel, primarily out of solidarity with Paleostinian demands for a state of their own.
See what that's gotten you?
Many remember Israel's deadly 1985 air strike on the headquarters of the Paleostine Liberation Organismic, then hosted by Tunisia, in which 68 people were killed. That was followed three years later by the liquidation of the PLO's number two, Abu Jihad.

But Tunisia is one of the Arab world's most liberal countries, and still has a small Jewish population of about 1,500.

More than half are on the southern resort island of Djerba, where the Ghriba synagogue, the focus of the three-day pilgrimage that begins next Friday, is located.

Saudi Arabia urges Mers precautions around camels
Saudi Arabia is warning those dealing with camels to take precautions as the number of infections in the kingdom from a respiratory illness linked to the animals rises further.
If I'm around a camel I've got more things to worry about than Mers. Camels are just plain nasty creatures...
Though some are very beautiful and inspire loving feelings.
The official Saudi Press Agency said on Sunday that the Ministry of Agriculture is urging people who come in contact with camels to "exercise caution and follow preventive measures."

It says the ministry issued the advice after scientific studies commissioned by the Health Ministry proved a connection between camels and the virus that causes the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome.

The guidance came after the country reported six more deaths from Mers on Saturday. A total of 139 people have died and 480 have been confirmed to have contracted the virus in Saudi Arabia since it was discovered in 2012.

Putin tests Russia's nuclear arsenal
Russian President Vladimir Putin has overseen test launches of the country's most powerful rockets. Putin reportedly said the exercises simulated a retaliatory nuclear strike.

It comes after Britain said it had deployed a destroyer to track a Russian aircraft carrier sailing close to its coastal waters.

"Today, as part of the planned events, we will activate all the different armed forces of the Russian Federation, over all of the territory of Russia," explained Putin, adding, "Including the nuclear forces."

The president also attended a ceremony in Moscow honouring those who lost their lives during World War II.

Next month, Putin will meet Western leaders for the first time since the Ukraine crisis started.

Europe
Russia's military relies on Ukraine
May 9, or Victory Day, is a hugely important day for Russia's military. It marks the anniversary of the Soviet announcement in May 1945 that Nazi Germany had surrendered, and it is now celebrated with an enormous military parade in Moscow. The parade is an impressive show of strength: About 11,000 soldiers and more than 150 military vehicles gathered in Red Square on Friday.

In light of recent events, however, it's worth remembering how much that military relies on outside factors -- for example, a large number of factories and other resources in Ukraine's troubled southern and eastern regions. Southeast Ukraine provides military hardware for Russia, but also controls oil and uranium, and even the food for the sailors in Sevastopol.

It's worth bearing this in mind when we consider the Russian military's buildup on the borders of Ukraine (whether or not they are gone). The troops don't just threaten Ukraine: They rely on it. too.

#2  True enuff, + the threat of US, EU Sanctions agz Russia's economy, but IMO Putin also covertly desires a combined or unified NATO-EU, RussFed bastion or blocking force agz Nuclear Islam in the Black Sea + Near East, all of which is why he has NOT yet send in his troops into the Ukraine just yet.

THE ABOVE BEING SAID, PUTIN IS NOT GOING TO WAIT FOREVER FOR THE BAMMER + NATO-EU TO "GET IT".

The time is now to prepare for Nuclear Islam + OWG Nuclear Caliphate, espec the Global Nuclear Jihad = Nuke-WMD Hard Boyz.

IFF THE COMMUNISTS-GLOBALISTS EXPECT TO DOMINATE OR CONTROL NUCLEAR ISLAM, INCLUD ANY NUKULAAR HARD BOYZ, AS PER THE NPA-VEE-MILF, ETC. IN NORTH MINDANAO, PHILIPPINES THEY'RE N-O-T ABLE TO. Lithuania's 'Iron Lady' positioned for victory amid Russia fears
Lithuanians go to the polls on Sunday to choose their president with incumbent "Iron Lady" Dalia Grybauskaite considered a shoo-in as fears rise over a resurgent Russia. The karate black belt is poised to win a second term as many here see her as a their best hope amid Europe's worst face-off with Moscow since the Cold War.

The election comes as Russia's takeover of the Crimean peninsula and saber rattling in the neighbouring Russian exclave of Kaliningrad have sparked palpable fear in Lithuania.

Elvyra Vaicaityte, a student living just outside of Kaliningrad, is spooked by military rumblings of military might in the Russian territory, sandwiched between Lithuania and fellow NATO member Poland. She said, "I can hear explosions during exercises, and windows often rattle -- I don't feel very secure."

Grybauskaite has sworn to take up arms herself in case of Russian aggression. She said, "If there's a problem, I'll never flee abroad. I'll take a gun myself to defend the country if that what's needed for national security."

Grybauskaite has backed the country's first liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal intended to ease the nation's total dependence for gas on Russia's Gazprom. She also sees Eurozone entry in 2015 as an economic buffer against Moscow.

In contrast to her hard line, her center-left and populist rivals insist dialogue with Russia is crucial, and have focused more on social issues. Social Democrat Zigmantas Balcytis said, "We'll have to seek dialogue with Russia. Any kind of peace is better than a war."

29-year-old Vilnius entrepreneur Augustinas Vizbaras says Grybauskaite has his vote. He has also volunteered in a paramilitary unit that was part of Lithuania's WWII-era anti-Soviet resistance. He said, "We feel a Russian threat and I felt a civic duty to join the unit so that we prevent a repeat of a Ukraine scenario here."

DHA shootout: application for counter FIR dismissed
[DAWN] KARACHI: A sessions court on Saturday dismissed an application seeking registration of a counter FIR of the May 8 DHA shootout.
This was the case where the two teenies were making faces at each other and their bodyguards shot it out.
An 18-year-old boy and a police guard were killed while another teenager and a private security guard were maimed in the shootout at the bungalow of 18-year-old SLearned Elders of Islamn Lashari on Khayaban-e-Shamsheer following a quarrel between the teenagers over some petty issue, police said.

In the application moved by Mansoor Abro, a cousin of Salman Abro, the prime suspect in the SLearned Elders of Islamn Lashari murder case, said that both the teenagers were friends and classmates.

He said they had a petty dispute and his cousin had visited the house of Lashari to settle the matter. But he contended that Lashari's guard opened fire, leaving Salman Abro maimed and claimed that the other guards returned fire in self-defence that left Lashari dead and his guard maimed.

The Darakshan SHO submitted that the FIR of the incident had already been registered, suspects incarcerated
I ain't sayin' nuttin' widdout me mout'piece!
and investigation was under way.

The applicant asked the court to direct the SHO to register the FIR.

The district and sessions judge (south) Ahmed Saba dismissed the application after hearing both sides and said the applicant was at liberty to file direct complaint.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Syria Election Campaign to Start Sunday
[AnNahar] Campaigning for Syria's June 3 presidential election expected to return Bashir al-Assad to power begins on Sunday, the Supreme Constitutional Court said.

It confirmed Saturday that the three candidates -- Assad, Maher Abdel Hafiz Hajjar and Hassan Abdullah al-Nuri -- can "launch their election campaign from Sunday," state news agency SANA reported.

Twenty-four candidates initially registered to stand, but most did not meet the criteria in an election denounced by the opposition and the West as a "farce".

The presidential election is theoretically Syria's first in more than half a century, as Assad and his father Hafez, who ruled with an iron grip from 1970 until his death in 2000, were named after referendums.

But with the bloody civil war still raging, voting will take place only in parts of the country controlled by government forces.

Both Hajjar and Nuri are largely unknown to the public.

Hajjar is from Syria's second city of Aleppo, which has been devastated by fighting that broke out there in 2012, and is an independent MP and former member of the communist party.

Nuri is a Damascus businessman who was a member of the internal opposition tolerated by Assad's government.

The United Nations
...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships...
has sharply criticized Damascus's decision to hold the vote, calling it "incompatible with the letter and spirit of the Geneva Communique" about a democratic transition in Syria.
