Feminist Goes Topless In Vatican Abortion protest
[An Nahar] A leader of the Ukrainian feminist group Femen bared herself near St. Peter's Square on Thursday shouting "Christmas is canceled!" in a protest against the Catholic Church's stance on abortion.

Inna Shevchenko, 23, went topless and ran towards the square but was stopped by some 20 coppers.

She had "Jesus is aborted" written across her chest.

The police quickly formed a barrier around the activist to prevent media from documenting the event.

Covered in a blanket, she was taken away in a police car as tourists and pilgrims looked on with bemusement.

Femen activists have targeted St. Peter's Square before, including on the eve of the conclave that elected Pope Francis in March, and have begun a series of protests in Christian centers in support of abortion laws.

Femen is a Ukrainian group whose members have drawn attention worldwide with nude stunts targeting a range of political and religious figures, including Italia's ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi
...former Italian prime minister, known for his plain (for a European politician) speaking and his liking for hookers a third his age or less...
and Russian President Vladimir Putin
...Second and fourth President of the Russian Federation and the first to remain sober. Putin is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from polonium poisoning. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to Putin. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead...

ObamaCare Found To Restrict Where You Live And Travel
[Investors Business Daily] Freedom: It's bad enough that the president's health insurance takeover costs more, breaks his pledge of letting you keep your plan and diminishes choice. It actually restricts your travels too.
Only Low Information Voters expected something else ?
'We have never had to put a wall up to keep our people in." Those words from President John F. Kennedy in June 1963, standing at the Berlin Wall, neatly illustrated the moral superiority of the free West over the Soviet bloc.

But Americans are now about to find themselves grappling with their own bureaucratic Berlin Wall. The American Thinker's Stella Paul has exposed the virtually unnoticed fact that within the ObamaCare exchanges so many Americans are being forced into, "most plans only provide local medical coverage."
"Unnoticed" by some possibly.
Paul warns this will have "a profound impact on the real-estate market, particularly the second home sector, and on the travel business." She interviewed one Connecticut retiree whose health required having a winter home in South Carolina. Her $450-per-month, $2,500 deductible, no co-pay Blue Cross policy that had worked well in both states was suddenly canceled.
Only the top 2% have second homes. The disadvantaged should be living in those homes.
The new policy she was offered under ObamaCare was twice as expensive, with a deductible costing $1,000 more, and no out-of-network coverage. Having had a surgery at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, out-of-network coverage was a must. And she found it. "It's $900 a month," she told Paul, "with a $7,000 deductible and a co-pay on everything. Basically, it's catastrophic insurance, and I'll be paying my South Carolina doctors out of pocket."
I shop at Target and use the 'Early Bird' restaurant specials whilst on holiday at Hilton Head.
A prominent New York insurance broker pointed out that most of the policies offered on the ObamaCare exchanges are not national networks, so "if you need routine medical services, they will not be covered when you leave your local area," as they were before.
Travel is for the rich and famous. See top 2 percenters comment above.
Travel health insurance, unfortunately, only covers emergencies. So, the broker told Paul, "a large portion of the population will have their insurance as a consideration for their mobility, which they never had before."

Imagine having to take all this into account in making decisions about where in America you want to live. And as Paul asks, "With Americans no longer able to receive routine medical services when they travel, will they start showing up in emergency rooms for sore throats and backaches? And how will these new throngs of patients affect the waiting time of people with genuine medical emergencies?"

Meet the latest unpleasant ObamaCare surprise, right on the heels of HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius this week finally admitting that, contrary to Obama's endlessly repeated promise, "there are some individuals who may be looking at increases" in premiums.

Unrestricted movement is a birthright of our liberty. Even socialized medicine's harshest opponents didn't suspect Washington would trample that freedom.
You are now entering urban tribal homelands, proceed your own risk.

Five Oil Workers Killed in South Sudan Attack
[An Nahar] At least five South Sudanese workers were killed after attackers stormed their compound in the key Unity oil field, an official in the Chinese-owned company said Thursday, amid wider violence wracking the young nation.

"A group of gunnies came to the compound and killed staff" late on Wednesday, a bigwig at the Greater Nile Petroleum Operating Company (GNPOC) said, not wanting to give his name as he was not authorized to speak to the media.

It was not clear if the attack was linked to rebel battles with government troops following an alleged coup attempt against South Sudan President Salva Kiir.

But oil production forms over 95 percent of South Sudan's fledgling economy, and any attack targeting the crucial installations raises fears of the stability of the vital industry.

However,
nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits...
attacks by militia forces and festivities between heavily armed cattle herders are common in the region, the home state of the runaway former vice president Riek Machar, who is accused by Kiir of launching the coup bid.

Attackers Storm U.N. Base in South Sudan
[An Nahar] Attackers stormed a U.N. base where civilians took refuge in South Sudan on Thursday and deaths are feared, a U.N. front man said.

The U.N. has sent reinforcements to the base at Akobo in Jonglei state and to help other groups fearing for their lives amid a worsening showdown between President Salva Kiir and his former vice president, a front man said.

Ethnic Nuer youths forced their way into the small U.N. mission in Akobo where more than 30 ethnic Dinka had sought shelter, U.N. deputy front man Farhan Haq said.

"Fighting took place," he told news hounds. "We fear there may have been some fatalities but can't confirm who and how many."

The 60 peacekeeper reinforcements are only expected to arrive on Friday because the base is so difficult to get to, the front man said.

The attack was the latest reported as fighting spreads across South Sudan between army factions split between Salva Kiir, an ethnic Dinka, and former vice president Riek Machar, a Nuer.

U.N. forces are also protecting 14,000 civilians gathered around a base in Bor, capital of Jonglei state, and protecting the Bor airstrip, Haq said.

Hundreds have been killed in the capital, Juba, alone since festivities between rival factions of the Sudan Sudanese army erupted on Sunday.

Haq said there were unconfirmed reports of several students killed by security forces at Juba University on Wednesday.

Several hundred students have stayed on the university campus and asked for U.N. protection, the front man said.

Between 2,000 and 5,000 civilians have gathered in another part of Juba, the Kator complex, and had also requested help from U.N. Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) peacekeepers, Haq said.

More than 15,000 people have sought shelter at two U.N. and one World Food Program compounds in Juba.

Former S. Sudan VP Urges Army to Oust President, Rejects Talks
[An Nahar] South Sudan's runaway former vice president Riek Machar on Thursday called for the army to topple his arch-rival President Salva Kiir, amid fears the world's newest country is plunging into civil war.

"I have appealed to the SPLM (ruling party) and the SPLA (army) to remove Salva Kiir from the leadership of the country," he said in an interview with RFI radio, adding he was only willing to talk to the president about his departure.

Some 450 people have been killed in the capital Juba since battles broke out late on Sunday and thousands displaced, as rebels loyal to Machar battle government forces following an alleged failed coup attempt against Kiir.

Kiir has said he is ready to "sit down" with Machar to try to resolve the crisis.

But Machar, who was sacked by the president in July and is now on the run, has denied any coup attempt, and in turn accuses Kiir of using it as an excuse to purge his political rivals.

"We want him to leave, that's it," he told RFI.

"If he wants to negotiate his leaving power... we can talk that over, but he has to leave, because he can't unite the people when he kills them like flies and tries to incite inter-ethnic fighting."

Human Rights Watch
... dedicated to bitching about human rights violations around the world...
has quoted witnesses as reporting cases of both soldiers and rebels executing people based on their ethnicity, warning it could lead to "Dire Revenge™ attacks and more violence."

The battles have raised concerns of ethnic conflict, with Kiir coming from the majority Dinka people and Machar from the Nuer.

In the interview, Machar accused Kiir of starting to embark on a "genocide" in Juba.

But the government insists the festivities are over power and politics, noting that both sides include leaders from different tribes.

Top ministers from four regional countries had or were flying to South Sudan Thursday to try to kickstart peace efforts, including Kenya's Foreign Minister Amina Mohammed.

Asked whether he was willing to talk to them, Machar said he was.

"We are for a peaceful solution, we are not for conflict, we want this country to catch up with the rest of its neighbors," he said.

He also confirmed that powerful military commander Peter Gadet -- who rebelled in 2011 but then rejoined the army -- was among those working to remove Kiir.

"He is not alone, there are many generals who are responding to this... So yes, he is one of those who wants to see that Salva Kiir is removed."

Widow of murdered Canadian teacher publishes letter forgiving killers
[Libya Herald] The widow of Canadian teacher Ronnie Smith, who murdered in Benghazi earlier this month, has forgiven her husband's killers in an open letter addressed to the Libyan people.

"Ronnie Smith loved the Libyan people," Anita Smith said. "We came to Libya because we saw the suffering of the Libyan people, but also your hope, and we wanted to partner with you to build a better future." She added that Ronnie had been a "best friend" to Libya.

Ronnie Smith, aged 33, was rubbed out on 5 December while he was out jogging in Benghazi's Digadosta district. No arrests have yet been made in connection with the murder.

Addressing the killers of her husband, Smith said: "I love you and forgive you."

Although friends and family had voiced safety concerns about the Canadian couple living in Benghazi, Smith said they stayed because they believed the Libyan people were worth the risk. She added that Ronnie had loved his students at Benghazi International School where he worked as a chemistry teacher.

"I hear people speaking with hate, anger and blame over Ronnie's death, but that's not what he would want," she said, adding that he would want his death to be an opportunity for people to show one another love and forgiveness.

#5  'Addressing the killers of her husband, Smith said: "I love you and forgive you."'

The killers have not been arrested, so they're still posing a direct and immediate threat.

The killers have not apologized, they're unrepentant.

If she truly loves those unrepentant murderers whom she has totally forgiven would she assist them in the commission of further murder?

One is supposed to lend a helping hand to 'beloved friends' isn't one?

This moral preening is turning the widow objectively into an enabler if not accomplice of her husbands murderers.

Even Jesus said 'Sin no more!'
Does she exhort the murderers to stop their vice which is anything but victimless?

Victoria Falls to be renamed
[Bangla Daily Star] President Bob Muggsy Mugabe
Octogenarian President-for-Life of Zim-bob-we who turned the former Breadbasket of Africa into the African Basket Case...
wants Victoria Falls to be renamed 'the smoke that thunders' to get rid of its colonial history.

The president of Zim-bob-we believes Victoria Falls does not reflect its liberation heritage.

The waterfall, which is along the Zambezi River at the border of Zim-bob-we and Zambia, is one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

It was first discovered by Scottish explorer David Livingstone who named it after Queen Victoria.

Locals already refer to the landmark as Mosi Oa Tunya -- which means 'the smoke that thunders'.

The ruling party, Zanu PF, said the government would be instructed to get rid of all colonial names for towns and schools.

Ignatious Chombo, local government minister, said: "Institutions bearing colonial names must be changed and be given indigenous names ... school syllabuses in schools must also change."

However,
by candlelight every wench is handsome...
a number of institutions and roads still have their colonial names.

Victoria Falls is known as the greatest curtain of falling water in the world.

Columns of spray can be seen from miles away, and at the height of the rainy season, more than five hundred million cubic meters of water per minute plummet over the edge of Victoria Falls.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Ruling Party Wins Turkmen Polls, New Party Takes Seats
[An Nahar] Turkmenistan's ruling party secured the most number of seats in legislative elections while a new party set up to diversify politics in the ultra-controlled state won its first-ever mandates, official results said Thursday.

Sunday's elections were marked by a total lack of any opposition to the dominance of President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov over the gas-rich Central Asian state, despite being billed as the first multi-party polls in its history.

For the first time the elections included a party other than the ruling Democratic Party -- the Party of Industrialists and Businessmen of Turkmenistan which was founded in August 2012.

The Democratic Party took 47 of the 125 seats up for grabs in the Majlis parliament, while the Party of Industrialists took 14 seats, state newspapers and television announced Thursday. Voter turnout was a colossal 91.33 percent.

The other seats in the parliament went to representatives of trade unions, women's groups, young people's organizations and religious groups who are all staunchly pro-government.

When the new party was founded, Berdymukhamedov stepped down as head of the Democratic Party renouncing his membership in a bid to put himself above party politics and let some kind of political system develop.

But critics have noted that the Party of Industrialists has yet to express the slightest criticism of the president and Turkmenistan has nothing even resembling a democratic multi-party system.

Non-citizens caught voting in 2012 presidential election in key swing state Ohio
[FoxNews] Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted announced Wednesday that his office found 17 non-citizens illegally cast ballots in the 2012 presidential election -- and has referred the case for possible prosecution.

The alleged crime would be a notable case of voter fraud in a key swing state. By law, only American citizens are allowed the privilege of casting ballots for the nation's leaders.

"I have a responsibility to uphold election law, and under both federal and state law you must be a citizen to vote," said Husted, a Republican who has aggressively tried to investigate voter fraud cases in his state.

Husted also found that 274 non-citizens remain on the voting rolls.

President B.O. beat Willard Mitt Romney
...former governor of Massachussetts, the Publican nominee for president in 2012. He is the son of the former governor of Michigan, George Romney, who himself ran for president after saving American Motors from failure, though not permanently. Romney has a record as a successful businessman, heading Bain Capital, and he rescued the 2002 Winter Olympics from the midst of bribery and mismanagement scandals....
in Ohio by just 2 percentage points in November 2012.

As part of Ohio's efforts to clean up the voting rolls, election officials discovered that more than 257,000 dead people were still listed as active voters. Their names and status, Husted said, have since been removed.

In addition, election authorities note they have drastically reduced the number of duplicate registrations, from 340,000 in 2011 to just four this past November -- and that more than 370,000 Ohio voters who have moved have been contacted to update their voting information.

It will be interesting to see which way the vote goes in the next election.
ACORN and its descendants must be tearing their hair out.
"Now that we have the ability to cross-check citizenship information with Ohio's voter rolls, I will continue to be vigilant and to push the General Assembly for additional tools to modernize our elections systems, making it easy to vote and hard to cheat," Husted said.

Exactly. This story is just the tip of the iceberg. Southeast Asia
U.S. offers to help SE Asia patrol South China Sea
The United States on Monday offered $32.5 million in assistance to Southeast Asian nations, more than half to Vietnam, to boost maritime security, which comes as tension grows with China over rival claims in the South China Sea.

On his first visit to Vietnam as secretary of state, John Kerry denied that the assistance had anything to do with China. He however called for “intensified negotiations and diplomatic initiatives” between China and Japan on resolving differences in the East China Sea.

Kerry said up to $18 million of the funds would go toward strengthening Vietnam’s coastal patrols to help its coastguard react quicker to search and rescue missions, and for disasters. The funding would also be used to buy five “fast” patrol boats for Vietnam’s coastguard in 2014.

#3  Richard Fernandez over at the Belmont Club documents Japan and the Euros seeking to rearm. It's another interesting example of the Left who plastered Ronald Reagan as a militarist and war monger (remember putting the cruise missiles in Europe) can't see that it all led to the actually implementation of the reduction of nuclear warheads/delivery systems rather than the usual game of limits which were an increase in overall numbers. Now we have a Lefty 'bug out' Prez who is by his dictates and actions is not only reducing the nation's defense but creating an environment that is witnessing the increase of warheads/delivery systems in the world. They can not connect the dots as they're locked into ideological beliefs that while naively simplistic are not backed by 4000 year of real human history. They are creating an environment far more likely to lead to another great conflagration.

#6  Hummm... exactly 2 are left in commission. Giving them an LCS would be like giving your next door neighbors kid the basic Barbie Doll.... very wrong.

Black student ‘lynches’ 2 whites for art project
[praag.org] An African-American student at Sacramento State University is under fire for her recent work of art – which consisted of “lynching” two white men from a tree on the northern California campus. The men were reportedly actors and were in no real danger during the project, which took place during the day in early December while students were on campus.
Bad actors I'd say.
The men were hung from a tree with a thick rope. The senior responsible for the performance art, Christina Edwards, defended her project to Fox 40 News.

“The purpose of this performance was to bring to light social injustices and the issue of inequality that impacts me and my community as a whole,” Edwards said.
Perhaps the recent Harvard hoax bomber was "bringing to light" some sort of inequality as well.
Edwards says she chose to illustrate this time in history by using race reversal, in an effort to shine new light on an old but standing matter. And says she followed all campus procedures. The university doesn’t see it that way, however.
Ms. Edwards will no doubt graduate summa cum laude and go on to work in government.
University President Alexander Gonzalez released this statement saying, in part: “The university did not approve the display, and I want to assure everyone that I am working to address the multiple issues raised by this incident.”
No mention made of the modern day gang shootings in Chicago, or the butchery of white farmers in the late kameraade Mandela's Utopia. Edwards does not seek awareness. She seeks retribution. I pray actual copy-cat lynchings do not follow her example.

#1  Perhaps she should've just have paid a bunch of local kids to perform the "knockout game" with students on campus?

I'm sure the students would've understood and the university, the authorities and could've dismissed it as merely "art."

#2  Only a black student could get away with this. If a white student lynched 2 'whites' it would still be called a hate crime.

Kind of like the N-word - special classes get special rights.
