Makes sense. Would it not be better to co-operate with the Russians? The current situation has us allying with Saudi Arabia, because of their oil wealth and arms purchases, while Russia does the same thing with Iran. There will have to be eventual unity between the secular states, against the Muslim tyrannies. The Middle East Democratic Initiative didn't work, because of mosque based terrorism. I trust the New Russia more than I trust Islamofascist junk states.
All I am hearing today on the anti-missile basing in Eastern Europe, is irresolution. That policy was as ill thought out, and the warped decision to continue Clinton's anti-Serb ploy in Kosovo. If you want Hilary elected, then hand Kosovo to Albania, and celebrate self-determination, until terror cells form.
President Nicolas Sarkozy will seek to bolster his mandate for pervasive reforms to energize France's sluggish economy in legislative elections starting Sunday. The vote is crucial to Sarkozy's reform program because the composition of his Cabinet and its ability to push through legislation is tied to the number of seats the mainstream right has in the 577-seat National Assembly.
The balloting Sunday is the first round. In France's complex electoral calculus, only candidates who win a majority of votes Sunday land a seat immediately. In races with no majority winner, any hopeful who gets more than 12.5 percent will qualify for a decisive second round June 17.
Sarkozy wants to shake up a country down on its economic fortunes by slashing taxes and payroll fees, making it easier for companies to hire and fire, and cutting the number of public sector workers. Labor unions and student groups are wary and ready to mount strikes and protests if they deem that Sarkozy wants to go too far in trimming welfare state protections.
The bigger the victory for conservatives, the stronger Sarkozy's advantage will be in talks with opponents for his reforms. Conservatives want to capitalize on momentum from Sarkozy's 53-47 percent victory over Socialist Segolene Royal in the May 6 presidential election. Turnout this weekend is expected to be lower than the 84 percent in the presidential contest.
Since his election, Sarkozy has drawn plaudits for getting straight to work and for his energetic style which contrasts to former President Jacques Chirac's slower pace. At a legislative campaign stop, Sarkozy called on the French in northern Le Havre to "renew their trust" so he could "keep the commitments" made in the presidential race.
Sarkozy has already met with labor union leaders to discuss his labor reform plans, launched plans for an environmental conference later this year, and jetted to Brussels, Madrid and to Germany twice. Polls suggest conservatives have even more support now than when Sarkozy defeated Royal.

Just like our State Senator (D-Dhimicrat) that wanted to ban cell phone use and then claimed that talking on gher cell phone while drive caused her to crash 3 time (two scraped/on rear-end). Makes me want to cream sometimes...really.

The principle makes some sense to me. He knows that as a law abiding citizen I have little need for guns in my house. Crooks politicians like him need guns to keep competitors from raiding the icebox.

Barack Obama in search of campaign volunteers and donations across the country. The L.A. volunteers were signed up to walk the precincts in and near the downtown area, joining door-to-door canvassers in 33 cities across the nation to register voters, chat with people about the Illinois senator, and solicit grassroots campaign contributions, said Obama's local campaign spokeswoman Mary Jane Stevenson.
The candidate himself was walking precincts in Dubuque, Iowa, where it's just 219 campaign days to the state caucuses, which traditionally start the formal election season. "We picked this part of town because it's the most ethnically-diverse part of the city, and it's reasonably dense so we can talk to people," Stevenson said.
A nationwide review of last week's political polls by the political web site Real Clear Politics shows New York Sen. Hillary Clinton 9.5 points ahead of Obama. The most-recent nationwide poll, released yesterday by Fox News, has Obama trailing Clinton by 13 points. Only the USA Today/Gallup poll, taken a week ago, has Obama in front, with a one percentage point lead.

For years I've had serious political disagreements with my in-laws. It got so bad I finally had to just keep my mouth shut when visiting them because it was upsetting to their mother. But I nearly keeled over the other day when my sister-in-law told us how she is so impressed with Osama, thinks he is a wonderful speaker and plans to actually vote for him. Let's see, the man has no experience to speak of, a questionable background and is apparently in denial about the threats to our security. But he sounds good when he's talking to nitwits like my sister-in-law so she's willing to put him in charge of the most powerful nation on earth. I need a drink.

Malaysias prime minister tied the knot with the manager of his official residence on Saturday, marrying for a second time after his first wife died from breast cancer, the official Bernama news agency reported. Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, 67, and Jeanne Abdullah, 53, were married at the premiers official residence in Putrajaya, the nations administrative capital, the report said quoting a family statement. The wedding was attended by close relatives.

The Subramaniums are ethnic Tamils, and run a grocery store in Colombo. They have lived in the city all their lives, and have little connection to the north and east where government troops are fighting Tamil Tiger rebels. But they say life for ordinary Tamils in Colombo is getting worse with the community caught in the middle of a once again escalating ethnic war between the islands Sinhalese-dominated authorities and the rebels. I cant step out of the house without my identity card and police papers. If I dont have them, I will be detained, Suresh said.
Tamils, whose national identity cards are written in Tamil, are instantly segregated at check points for a sometimes lengthy grilling. Members of the majority Sinhalese community have an easier time from the Sinhalese-dominated security forces.
