Congress gives Harvard two-week deadline to submit documents of antisemitic incidences
[Jpost] Harvard University has two weeks to provide the House Committee on Education with documentation of antisemitic incidents and disciplinary procedures, according to a letter on Tuesday from Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx.

Foxx's letter comes one week after the university's president Claudine Gay resigned amid plagiarism controversy and fallout from a contentious hearing on Capitol Hill.

The letter, addressed to Harvard Corporation Senior Fellow Penny Pritzker and Interim President Dr. Alan Garber, outlined a "pattern of deeply troubling incidents and developments."

Sen. Marsha Blackburn Issues ‘Container Act' Giving States Power to Secure Border Themselves
[Breitbart] A plan by Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) would give states the authority to secure the United States-Mexico border without needing federal approval from President Joe Biden’s administration, Breitbart News has exclusively learned.

Blackburn’s “CONTAINER Act” would give border states the power to place temporary structures — including razor wire, shipping containers, and other barriers — along the southern border without first seeking approval from the federal government.

The legislation invokes the Constitution’s so-called “invasion clause,” which gives the states powers to protect themselves from an invasion. Under current law, though, states must seek federal approval before placing structures on federal land.

“Since President Biden took office, there have been over 8.5 million apprehensions at our southern border, turning every state into a border state,” Blackburn told Breitbart News.

The CONTAINER Act would also allow border states to keep such temporary structures on federal land for up to a year with the ability to extend their placement for 90-day periods, approved by the Interior Department and Department of Agriculture.

“Meanwhile, his administration has only exacerbated the problem by trying to stop the use of measures that will secure our border like shipping containers and razor wire,” Blackburn continued. “Because Joe Biden refuses to do so, it’s clear Congress must act to give border states the explicit authority to protect their communities and the sovereignty of the United States.”

Indeed, most recently, Biden’s Department of Justice (DOJ) has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to intervene and have Texas officials remove razor wire that the state has erected along the southern border to help cut illegal immigration.

Similarly, in December 2022, Biden’s DOJ forced the state of Arizona to remove shipping containers it had placed along the border to reduce illegal immigration. The containers had successfully closed massive holes in the border wall.

Despite record-breaking illegal immigration, the majority of the nation’s nearly 2,000-mile-long border remains open and without any barriers.

3,000 Anti-Terrorist Operations Conducted in 2023: Islamic Emirate
[ToloNews] The Ministry of Interior said that in 2023, it conducted nearly 3,000 operations to suppress terrorist groups and armed individuals in the country.

Abdul Matin Qani, the MOI front man, said that female security forces were also present in the launched operations.

The front man added: "About 3,000 operations were conducted last year by special security forces against terrorist and evil groups, including ISIS."

Qani emphasized that in these operations, the sanctuaries of ISIS were also destroyed.

The front man of the ministry also added: "Of course, the female security forces also participate in the operations and they do their duties in searches and assessments."

"Taliban
...the once and current oppressors of Afghanistan...
should consider and manage such operations to provide more security in the country," said Akhtar Rasikh, a military analyst.

A number of women's rights activists called the presence of female security forces in security institutions important and emphasized that women should be provided with work in various sectors.

"Seeing the current situation in Afghanistan, it is very important that women are engaged in work in different sectors and that attention is given to them," Dewa Patang, a women's rights activist.

"The role of women and girls in the security forces is an urgent necessity considering the national interests of Islamic principles and Afghan traditions," said Lailuma Sherzai, a women’s rights activist.

The Ministry of Interior had previously said that nearly 2,000 security force members are women, and they are busy working as before the Islamic Emirate came into power.

Police foiled 30 Al-Shabaab terror attempts in 2023 — report
[ShabelleMedia] Save for a handful IED attacks targeting security agents mainly in operation areas in North Eastern and parts of Coast, 2023 saw much-reduced terror incidents, but not for lack of trying by the terror groups.

A report by counter-terrorism agencies seen by the Star shows that police foiled up to 30 terrorism incidents that would have turned deadly in the year.

The foiling of the possible attacks was done through pre-emptive intelligence-led counter-terrorism operations.

The thwarted attacks were planed by al-Shabaab
... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
and ISIS terrors cells and their offshoots.

ISIS activities within the country have mainly been contributed by the affiliates operations within the region like the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. ...established in the early 1990s through an agreement between portions of Uganda’s Salaf Tabliq Islamic sect and the National Army for the Liberation of Uganda (NALU), who said they had been sidelined by Museveni’s policies. At the time, the rebels staged deadly attacks in Ugandan villages and the capital, including a 1998 attack in which 80 students were massacred. A Ugandan military operation later forced the ADF into eastern Congo. The ADF has since established ties with the Islamic State group. The ADF has received funding from the Government of Sudan, which has also provided supplies and training. Their activities traversed from local operations to regional logistical activities involving movement of funds, recruits/operatives and media propaganda, especially using the various online platforms.

The report says the attacks were planned against citizens, critical national infrastructures, security establishment and foreign interests.

Some 59 suspects were arrested during the various operations and arraigned in court, and are facing various terrorism-related charges.

Some of the listed foils include the discovery of an IED planted along the Kiunga — Ishakani route on January 2, 2023. The security personnel were patrolling the Ishakani area.

On January 17, 2023, the report says, a joint clearance patrols along Welmerer-Elein-Ruqa route, discovered items belonging to bandidos turbans among them five AK 47 rifles, a knife and water bottles. A week later on January 25, 2023, a patrol team discovered an Improvised explosive emplaced along Sarira-Kolbio route.

A month later on February 25, another joint security team recovered foodstuffs stored in 20-litre jerry cans and black powder contained in a five-litre jerry can.

Another intelligence-led operation on May 22, 2023, saw security team recover assorted weapons, sim cards, memory cards, notebooks and assorted foodstuffs.

The report also lists discovery of another cache of IEDs on September 11, 2023.

Three days later on September 14, 2023, three RPGs, three AK47, assorted ammo and foodstuffs were recovered.

On October 16, 2023, KDF patrolling officers discovered two IEDs emplaced on the road between Baure and Milimani. Assorted foodstuffs and a collapsible water tank containing 25,000 litres of fresh water also got discovered on the same day.

He had been arrested on January 24, 2019, for his role in providing the al-Shabaab with information on KICC.

Moreover, the report details how the security agents thwarted cross border attacks planned by al-Shabaab into the country. It said it achieved the fete by "dismantling al-Shabaab facilitation networks, recruitment and radicalisation networks trying to sprout in the country."

"The intelligence led security operations in North Eastern, Nairobi and Coast region, resulted in the arrest of several terror operatives who were planning to carry out attacks. The refined investigative capabilities of Kenyan security agencies coupled with information from the arrested suspects, unearthed other networks and individuals leading to subsequent arrests," it said.

It said 2023 saw "increased al-Shabaab activities in sourcing for military grade equipment, logistical items and technologies to advance terrorism attacks within the region."

Darfur joint force denies plans to evict Sudanese army from El Fasher
[SUDANTRIBUNE] A senior commander within the joint force in Darfur, comprising gangs signatories of the Juba Peace Agreement, has refuted media reports alleging that the force was preparing to remove the Sudan

ese army from the capital of North Darfur, El Fasher, and hand over control of the city to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

General Abboud Adam Khater, a member of the joint force’s command and control centre and Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Gathering of Sudan Liberation Forces (GSLF), told Sudan Tribune: "The claims that we intend to remove the army from El Fasher, either through peaceful means or through force, are untrue. These are merely dense rumours spread by some parties."

He further elaborated: "While there are indeed individuals within the armed movements who hope for the RSF to take control of El Fasher, this matter has not been directly discussed, and those calling for the army’s withdrawal from the city do not have the authority to dictate the joint force’s actions."

Khater emphasized the joint force’s commitment to safeguarding El Fasher, a city filled with internally displaced persons. "We have directly informed the RSF and warned them against taking any action within El Fasher," he asserted.

Earlier reports had suggested that the joint force intended to expel the Sudanese army from El Fasher, either peacefully or through military means and that it had tasked Sudan Liberation Army- Minni Minawi (SLA-MM) Commander Juma Haqqar with communicating with the army and securing a peaceful withdrawal.

#1  To expel the Sudan military from El Fasher is to signal the end of Khartoum control over the huge North Darfur state. It would then result in a real civil war as the African Muslims would seek revenge on the state's large Arab cattle and camel nomad populations (especially the Rizayqat and Misseriya) who have for decades used the Sudan military as a vicious club with which to attack the Africans.

SPLM-N Hilu to meet with Tagadum for talks on ending war in Sudan
[SUDANTRIBUNE] Abdel Aziz al-Hilu, leader of the Sudan
...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans...
People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), has confirmed his willingness to engage in discussions with the Coordination of Civil Democratic Forces (Tagadum) to explore avenues for ending the ongoing conflict in Sudan.

The SPLM-N’s acceptance of the meeting follows Tagadum’s invitation to several political parties, including the Sudanese Communist Party, the Baath Party, and the SPLM-N led by Abdel Wahid al-Nur, as part of its efforts to broaden political support for a ceasefire.

In a statement issued by al-Hilu’s office, the SPLM-N expressed its openness to engaging with any party or entity that shares its commitment to bringing an end to the suffering of the Sudanese people.

The statement also proposed a comprehensive agenda for the discussions, encompassing issues such as national identity and voluntary unity, the relationship between religion and state, democratic transformation, the form of government, economic challenges, historical accountability, and security arrangements.

This development follows the Rapid Support Forces (RSF)’s recent announcement of its readiness to cease hostilities immediately and unconditionally, as per the political declaration to end the war signed with Tagadum in Æthiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa, on January 2.

Niger military tribunal grants release of deposed president's son
[AFRICANEWS] Niger's military tribunal has granted provisional release to Mohammed Bazoum Salem, the 23-year-old son of ousted President Mohammed Bazoum, from house arrest in the capital Niamey. The tribunal made this decision on Monday, as stated in an official release.

Salem had been under detention at the presidential residence along with his parents since the military coup that ousted his father in July. This coup, one of eight in West and Central Africa since 2020, faced widespread condemnation, resulting in sanctions from the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS). The international community also called for the release of Bazoum and a return to democratic rule.

The military tribunal did not disclose the fate of Salem's parents in its statement.

In a significant development, the ECOWAS Court of Justice declared last month that the detention of Bazoum's family was arbitrary and ordered the reinstatement of President Bazoum. The court's decisions are final and cannot be appealed. The junta now has one month to outline how it plans to execute this order, according to the lawyers involved in the case.

Following the July 26 coup, Bazoum and his son were indicted. Salem faced charges of conspiracy with the intent of undermining the authority or security of the state.

The family, according to Bazoum's political party and relatives, has endured challenging conditions, lacking access to running water and electricity. Furthermore, their lawyers claimed that they had been denied the opportunity to meet with a magistrate and had not been informed about any legal proceedings against them.

Hearing in the Zhuravel case was postponed at the request of the defense
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] The court in Grozny granted the defense's request and postponed the hearing in the case of Nikita Zhuravel on the burning of the Koran.

As the "Caucasian Knot" wrote, hearings in the case of Nikita Zhuravel were repeatedly postponed for various reasons, including due to the failure of the victims to appear. Imams from Chechnya, who are victims in the case of Nikita Zhuravel, stated at meetings on December 12 and 20, 2023 that the burning of the Koran  insulted them and all Muslims.

On November 2, 2023, the court in Grozny began to consider the case of Volgograd resident Nikita Zhuravel, accused in the case of burning the Koran. He is accused of violating the right to freedom of conscience and religion  and hooliganism. On October 13, 2023, in court, Zhuravel  apologized to Muslims  for his action, but admitted guilt only in the very fact of burning the Koran, saying that he had no motive for gross violation of public order. You can read more about the Zhuravel case in the Caucasian Knot information “ The beating of Nikita Zhuravel: why did Kadyrov’s men need to publish the video.”

The next court hearing in the case of Nikita Zhuravel, accused of burning the Koran, has been postponed to January 17 at the request of a lawyer, RIA Novosti reported today.

Zhuravel's lawyer Yulia Antonova asked to postpone the hearing because she is outside the republic. “To postpone the court hearing to January 17 at the request of the defense,” the agency quoted the decision of the judge of the Visaitovsky District Court of Grozny.

Let us remind you that 19-year-old Nikita Zhuravel was detained in Volgograd on May 20, 2023. According to investigators, he “on instructions from the SBU” set fire to the Koran and filmed it for a promised reward of 10,000 rubles. The Chairman of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, transferred the Zhuravel case to Chechnya, responding to the demands of the residents of the republic, who considered themselves the injured party. On May 27, 2023, Zhuravel was taken to the Grozny pre-trial detention center. Vladimir Putin announced on June 13 that Zhuravel would serve his sentence in one of the Muslim regions.

The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, published a video on September 25, 2023, in which his son Adam Kadyrov beats Volgograd resident Nikita Zhuravel, who was arrested for burning the Koran, in a pre-trial detention center. The head of Chechnya praised his son for this act. After this, Adam Kadyrov received the title of Hero of Chechnya, including the highest state awards of Karachay-Cherkessia and Kabardino-Balkaria. Adam Kadyrov received at least nine  state and public awards.

US congressional panel asks to see years of antisemitism complaints in Harvard probe
[IsraelTimes] House Education Committee gives university 2 weeks to provide all reports of incidents on campus since January 2021 targeting ‘Jews, Israelis, Israel, Zionists, or Zionism’.
Oh dear.
A US House of Representatives panel on Tuesday asked Harvard University for a list of documents in relation to a probe on antisemitism at the school, and gave the school two weeks to produce the records.

Republican Representative Virginia Foxx, who chairs the House Education and the Workforce Committee, sent a letter to Harvard Corporation Senior Fellow Penny Pritzker and interim President Alan Garber requesting the documents.

Harvard and other US colleges have simmered with tension over responses to the October 7 Hamas
...one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbund millipede,...
attack on Israel and Israel’s subsequent offensive against it in the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Strip.

Foxx said the panel, which last month also opened a review of Harvard’s handling of allegations of plagiarism by its then-president, wanted documents on all reports of antisemitic incidents on campus since January 2021, disciplinary processes to address allegations of hate and bias, and Harvard’s response to recent pro-Paleostinian protests and activities.

The documents requested include any list of "posts by Harvard students, faculty, staff and other Harvard affiliates on Sidechat and other social media platforms targeting Jews, Israelis, Israel, Zionists, or Zionism."

A Harvard spokesperson said the university was reviewing the letter and will be in touch with the committee over its request.

The House committee, in its letter, cited the oversight powers of Congress "derived from the US Constitution. "Under House Rule X, the Committee has legislative and oversight jurisdiction over ’education or labor generally,'" the letter said.

The committee, in its letter to Harvard last month over its plagiarism probe, had noted that "federal funding to Harvard is conditioned upon the school’s adherence to the standards of a recognized accreditor," and the need to show that it "works to prevent cheating and plagiarism."
Oooooooohhhh SLAP!!
Some critics of Israel, its control of territory internationally recognized as Paleostinian, and its isolation of the Gaza Strip, have said they risk being unfairly branded if criticism of Israel’s policies were labeled antisemitic.
If you criticize other countries on the same terms as you do Israel, that’s fair. But if only Israel is criticized, that is Jew-hate pretending to be something slightly less evil — Nazis vs Stalinists, if you will.
Others like the World Jewish Congress argue that anti-Zionism is antisemitic because it seeks to deny Jewish people "the right to self-determination in their ancestral homeland."

Claudine Gay resigned as president of Harvard last week following the allegations of plagiarism and backlash over her congressional testimony on antisemitism. Gay and two other university presidents who also testified had declined to give a definitive "yes" or "no" answer to a question on whether calling for the genocide of Jews would violate their schools’ codes of conduct regarding bullying and harassment, saying it would have to be balanced against free-speech protections. University of Pennsylvania President Liz Magill also resigned following the congressional hearing.

Left-Wing ‘Dark Money’ Powerhouse Funded Group Linked to Holocaust Museum Protestors
Not pro-Paleostine or even anti-Israel, they’re straightforward Jew-haters
[CapitalResearch] The Tides Foundation, a left-wing organization known for its "dark money," has provided funding to an organization linked to the protestors who planned to disrupt the Holocaust Museum in order to protest Israel’s military operations against Hamas

Doctors Against Genocide (DAG), an anti-Israel group formed in November, planned to launch the protest at the Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC, on December 28. DAG apparently went so far as to plot to disrupt the facility from the inside. The protest was cancelled after an immense backlash.

DAG claims the controversy is due to a "misunderstanding" caused by its own "lack of clarity." It claims they didn’t plan to protest "inside or outside" the museum, but the text of the protest’s announcement leaves no room for a credible denial. It clearly instructs attendees to assemble at the museum and to "please obtain free entry tickets."

DOCTORS AGAINST SOME GENOCIDES
DAG’s name infers that it actively opposes all forms of genocide. In actuality, the group’s activities have focused almost solely on Israel’s alleged "genocide" in the Gaza Strip. The only deviation is a brief statement on its website against the genocide of Rohingya Moslems in Burma. Tellingly absent is any denunciation of the genocidal actions and intentions of Hamas.

The organization has previously organized protests with the anti-Israel groups Jewish Voice for Peace, IfNotNow and Code Pink
... a U.S. anti-war group. The group describes itself as a women-initiated grassroots peace and social justice movement working to end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, stop new wars, and redirect our resources into healthcare, education, green jobs and other life-affirming activities. It was founded in 2002 by Jodie Evans, Medea Benjamin and of the other usual antiwar suspects. Its website lists hysterical allegations of US war crimes, and states that thousands of civilians were killed in Fallujah in 2004. Maybe it was millions. Benjamin was a 2000 candidate for the U.S. Senate on the Green Party ticket. She lost...
According to its website, DAG is a "program" of a nonprofit 501(c)(3) named Jetpac, which says its purpose is to increase the political influence of the Moslem American community.

Because DAG uses Jetpac as a fiscal sponsor, it is impossible for the public to know practically anything about DAG. Under such an arrangement, a registered nonprofit handles the donations of a group that does not have its own entity. Therefore, an unregistered group like DAG avoids the burden of complying with mandatory public disclosures. Donations are sent to Jetpac, and Jetpac decides what to reveal, if anything, about the funding funneled to DAG.

JETPAC’S DONORS AND LEADERSHIP
Jetpac itself has received funding from left-wing "dark money" powerhouses. It received $10,000 from the Tides Foundation in 2020. Proteus Fund provided $8,000 to Jetpac in 2018 for the purpose of "democracy." reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown

Community Trust also provided $17,500 in 2018.

Another interesting donor to Jetpac is the Barzinji Family Foundation, which gave $5,000 in 2018. It is operated by the family of Jamal Barzinji, one of the most influential Moslem American leaders until his death in 2015. At the time of his death, he was listed as the president of the Barzinji Family Foundation.

Barzinji has a long history of holding senior positions in organizations with origins in the Moslem Brüderbund, the Islamist parent organization of Hamas. For example, he was a co-founder and bigwig of the International Institute of Islamic Thought, which had its offices searched by federal law enforcement as part of a counterterrorism investigation in 2002. The sworn affidavit of U.S. Customs Service Special Agent David Kane explicitly named Barzinji as "not only closely affiliated with PIJ [Paleostinian Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
] . . . but also with Hamas."

Jetpac’s founder and chairman, Nadeem Mazen, was elected to the Cambridge City Council in 2013 and 2015, the year he created Jetpac. He opted against running for re-election in 2017, instead deciding to run for a Democratic Party
...every time you hear the phrase white people, white supremacy, white anything but paint, you're listening to a Democrat. Ask him/her/it to reimagine something for you; they do that a lot, though not well. They can hear a dog whistle a mile or two away. They invented the spoils system and Tammany Hall, and inspired the addition of the word (Thomas) Nasty to the English language. They want to stop continental drift and repeal the law of unintended side effects...
congressional nomination, characterizing himself as President Donald Trump
...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US...
’s "worst nightmare."

While he ran for Congress, he was simultaneously leading Jetpac, which should raise questions about the organization’s compliance with regulations prohibiting nonprofits from acting on behalf of political candidates. Jetpac’s website states that it was formed by Mazen’s campaign staff, boasting that they increased the number of Moslem voters by 300 percent.

Left-wing funders like the Tides Foundation will be enticed by the potential political dividends of Jetpac’s proclaimed ability to increase Moslem turnout, but it comes with a price. By acting as DAG’s fiscal sponsor, Jetpac helps alienate voters (especially Jewish voters) who don’t look fondly upon disrupting the Holocaust Museum for the purpose of appropriating the institution’s message for an anti-Israel cause.

#1  A major figure in the early Virginia operation [was] Jamal Barzinji, whose office in Herndon was a target of the raids. Barzinji has functioned as a representative of the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY)... Barzinji served as a trustee and officer of the Amana Mutual Funds Trust, a growth and income mutual fund headquartered in Bellingham, Wash... Amanas board also included Yaqub Mirza, a Pakistani physicist who shared Barzinjis Herndon office address and who is widely described as a financial genius. Another board member and tenant in the Herndon office was Samir Salah. He formerly ran a branch of [the closed bank] Al-Taqwa in the Caribbean; he heads a financial firm linked to Saar, and directed Dar al-Hijra, a mosque in Falls Church, Va., notable for hard-line Wahhabi preaching. Salah was also deeply involved with Taibah International Aid Association, a Virginia charity with a Bosnian branch investigated by authorities in Sarajevo.
Front groups interfacing between the Wahhabi-Saudi money movers under federal suspicion and the broader American public included two institutions active in the religious field: the Graduate School of Islamic and Social Sciences (GSISS), in Leesburg, Va., and the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT), located in Herndon, Va. The involvement of GSISS with the financing of extremism was especially startling in that it alone is credentialed by the Department of Defense to certify Muslim chaplains for the U.S. armed forces. Barzinji has appeared on the boards of both.

Remains of 57 Yazidis killed by ISIS to be returned to Shingal
[Rudaw] Tens of graves were dug outside the village of Hardan in the Yazidi heartland of Shingal (Sinjar) on Tuesday for the reburial of Yazidis killed by the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) whose dead bodies were identified in Baghdad a year after they were uncovered.

The identified remains, which were discovered across several mass graves, numbered 57 and are scheduled to be reburied in a special ceremony later in January.

Hardan village is located on the main road from Shingal and Tal Afar into Syria in Iraq’s northern Nineveh province. It was the site of heinous Islamic State (ISIS) crimes on the Yazidi ethnoreligious community in 2014, with many residents killed.

The remains whose identities were revealed were all males aged between 18 and 80 years old, according to Rudaw’s Adla Abubakir reporting from the site of the newly-dug graves.

More than half of the 366 people from Hardan village who had been captured by ISIS were rescued and 132 remain unaccounted for, according to data obtained by Rudaw from local Shingal authorities.

ISIS seized control of large swathes of land in Iraq and Syria in 2014. The group committed genocide against Yazidis when they overran the ethnoreligious minority’s heartland of Shingal, killing around 5,000 Yazidi men, some of whom were put into mass graves. Around 7,000 women and girls, some as young as nine, were enslaved.

Exhumation of mass graves began in 2019 in Shingal. Progress halted during the coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)

pandemic and resumed in October 2020.

The exhumations are carried out by the Iraqi government in coordination with the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and are overseen by the United Nations

Israel seeking clarity after report COSCO to halt shipping to Israel
[IsraelTimes] The Transportation Ministry says it is trying to clarify Chinese shipper COSCO’s decision on a reported halting of shipping to Israel.

The Globes news outlet this week reported that COSCO has suspended shipping to Israel. The company has yet to comment.

"The Administration of Shipping and Ports is working with the relevant parties to clarify the Chinese shipping company’s announcement to stop sailing to Israel," the Transportation Ministry says in response to a Rooters query.

BBC apologizes for report accusing IDF of ‘summary executions' in the Gaza Strip
[IsraelTimes] The BBC news network apologized over the weekend for a report late last month on its radio station in which it accused Israel Defense Forces troops of executing Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

In a report that ran overnight on December 24, the BBC said, it ran a story about Hamas accusing the IDF of "carrying out summary executions in the Gaza Strip."

A statement from the BBC issued on Friday, almost two weeks after the initial report, said that "although the accusations were attributed and our story contained a response from the Israeli military saying they were unaware of the incident and that Hamas was a terrorist organisation that did not value truth, we had not made sufficient effort to seek corroborating evidence to justify reporting the Hamas claim. We apologise for this mistake."
Why not apologize in advance for all the "mistakes" you're going to do in the future?

Smotrich rejects Blinken’s call to release frozen PA tax funds, urges ‘voluntary emigration’ of Gazans
[IsraelTimes] Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich rejects visiting US Secretary of State Antony Blinken

He was a foreign policy advisor for the Biden 2008 presidential campaign. During his tenure in the Obama administration, Blinken helped craft B.O.'s policy on Afghanistan, Pakistan, and the nuclear program of Iran. We all saw how well each of those worked. Abbas stressed the urgency of collaborative efforts to halt Israeli aggression against Paleostinians.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza reported alarming figures, citing over 22,000 deaths and 58,000 injuries over the past 92 days, with a notable impact on women and kiddies. World Health Organization staff gained access to al-Aqsa Hospital in Gaza, the largest in the region, on Sunday.

. The nation strongly urges the international community to address the Paleostinian issue, denouncing Israeli aggression that has resulted in thousands of civilian deaths, including women and kiddies, over the past three months.

Recent reports from the health ministry reveal that, in the last 24 hours alone, Israeli forces committed 12 massacres in Gaza, causing 122 deaths and 256 injuries. Cairo emphasizes the necessity of a fair and comprehensive resolution based on the two-state solution for lasting stability in the region.

Egypt has taken tangible steps, delivering substantial humanitarian aid to alleviate dire conditions in Gaza, while actively working to secure a permanent cessation of Israeli assaults. Additionally, Egypt firmly rejects an Israeli proposal to relocate Paleostinians from Gaza to Sinai.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Blinken to help Nasrallah ease his stance
[An Nahar] U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken will press Israel during his visit on Tuesday to officially declare the start of the so-called low-intensity third phase of its war on Gaza, media reports said.

“This declaration would grant Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah a chance to pacify the situation, which would pave the way for the plan of (U.S.) presidential envoy Amos Hochstein, who will visit Beirut this week, as announced by (caretaker PM Najib) Mikati yesterday,” the Nidaa al-Watan newspaper reported.

Mikati also said that Lebanon has received a proposal calling for Hezbollah’s withdrawal to the area north of the Litani River.

Hezbollah’s al-Ahed news portal meanwhile quoted an Israeli Channel 12 report as saying that “Blinken will bring this interesting offer in order to apparently grant Nasrallah a ladder to climb down the tree.”

Nasrallah and other Hezbollah officials have stressed that the cross-border attacks on Israel from south Lebanon will not stop before Israel ends its war on the Gaza Strip.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said Monday that Israel does plan to shift to a "long" third phase of the war in the Gaza Strip.

Israeli forces will shift from the "intense maneuvering phase of the war” toward “different types of special operations," Gallant told The Wall Street Journal, without providing details or dates for this phase.

The next phase in the war "will last for a longer time," he said.

While Israel has not officially announced the shift to the third phase of the war, Israeli media reports suggested that it will be on the table of meetings between Blinken and Israeli officials in Tel Aviv on Tuesday.

Last week, the Israeli public broadcaster KAN revealed that the army shifted to the third stage of the war in some areas in the Gaza Strip with limited forces.

The third phase includes targeted airstrikes, withdrawal of forces and establishment of a buffer zone near the Gaza border, according to local media.

Berri says Israel violating all rules of engagement, Mikati says Lebanon ready to negotiate
[An Nahar] Parliament Speaker Nabih Knobby Berri
...Speaker of the Lebanese parliament, head of the Amal Shiite party aligned with Hezbollah, a not very subtle sock puppet of the Medes and Persians...
on Tuesday noted that "the daily Israeli escalation is targeting the depth of residential areas, civilians and even ambulances and journalists."

Israel is "not only violating U.N. resolution 1701 but also all rules of engagement," Berri added, during a meeting in Ain el-Tineh with U.N. Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix, who was accompanied by UNIFIL chief Aroldo Lazaro and U.N. Special Coordinator for Leb
...an Iranian satrapy currently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
Joanna Wronecka.

The U.N. delegation also met with caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati, who reiterated his call for the international community to "halt the Israeli aggression" against Lebanon.

"We are advocates of permanent stability and we call for a permanent peaceful solution, but in return we are receiving warnings through international envoys about a war on Lebanon," Mikati added.

He also reiterated "Lebanon’s readiness to engage in negotiations to achieve a long-term stability process in south Lebanon and on the northern border of occupied Paleostine," noting that Lebanon is willing to "abide by U.N. resolutions, the (1949) Armistice Agreement and Resolution 1701."

Geagea rejects president coming from Western 'deal' with 'Axis of Defiance'
[An Nahar] Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea on Tuesday accused the Hezbollah-led “Axis of Defiance” in Lebanon of linking the Lebanese presidency and the new government to “ongoing negotiations” with Western forces over the military situation in south Lebanon.

“This matter is totally rejected, seeing as the presidency will not be a consolation prize for the Axis of Resistance and will not be part of any deal whatsoever,” Geagea said.

“The issue of the presidency in Lebanon is an independent subject that has nothing to do with any other deal. After all that has happened in Lebanon and what the Lebanese citizen is living, we desperately need a real president more than ever, whose concern would be to not to manage the affairs of the Axis of Resistance nor to serve it, but rather to organize the matters of the Lebanese republic and cater to the interests of the Lebanese people,” the LF leader added.

“Yes, more than ever, we need a reformist president who would implement the necessary reforms, so that our doors can be open to the global economy again and so that our economy can be revived,” Geagea went on to say.

He added: “We reject any dummy president who does not enjoy the required characteristics during this period and who would come as part of a regional settlement that is being currently discussed.”
