In a press statement released by the Sudanese Ministry of Finance on Tuesday, it was revealed that al-Burhan will participate in the 78th United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York. However, a clean conscience makes a soft pillow... the Sovereignty Council has yet to issue an official statement regarding his attendance.
According to the statement, Gibril Ibrahim, the Minister of Finance, will accompany al-Burhan to the United States of America to attend the meetings, which will revolve around the theme, "Rebuilding trust and reigniting global solidarity: Accelerating action on the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals. Towards peace, prosperity, progress, and sustainability for all."
The Sudanese government delegation includes Ali al-Sadiq, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lt Gen Ahmed Ibrahim Mufaddal, Director General of the General Intelligence Service, and several officials.
UN sources, who spoke to Sudan Tribune earlier, said that the United Nations has updated the list of participants in the General Assembly, replacing the Vice-President of the Sovereignty Council, Malik Agar, with al-Burhan.
The head of the Sovereign Council is expected to seize this opportunity to engage with a significant number of heads of state and government, explaining his perspective on the ongoing conflict in the country and seeking international support.
This move comes after al-Burhan managed to depart the besieged army headquarters in Khartoum, where he had spent over four months. He subsequently relocated to the army headquarters in Omdurman and then made his way to Atbara and Port Sudan on the Red Sea, where he continues to oversee the country’s government.
The conflict between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces erupted in mid-April in Khartoum and subsequently spread to the Darfur and Kordofan regions.

[Fdesouche via ZERO] A new poll shows 72 percent of French believe that the government offers too much aid to migrants, and the same percentage think they pose security problems.
According to the research by French consumer and public opinion firm Toluna, 61 percent believe that immigrants are a cultural threat and 56 percent that they are a threat to the social fabric, French news portal Fdesouche reports.
The research also shows that only 14 percent of French citizens approve of the unconditional acceptance of migrants, while 24 percent, mostly voters of the National Rally and the Republicans, reject any form of migrant intake.

[AlArabiya] An Afghan refugee who spent nearly three years in prison after being wrongfully accused of trafficking migrants colonists was awarded thousands of euros in damages, his lawyers said on Tuesday.
Akif Rasuli, 25, was arrested after arriving in Greece in 2020 and accused of having piloted a dinghy that washed up off the island of Lesbos, not far from the Ottoman Turkish coast.

"The... Court agreed that Mr. Rasuli should be compensated for the time he stayed in prison unjustly," said his lawyers from the NGO Legal Centre Lesvos (LCL).
He was awarded 15,920 euros ($17,000) in damages, the lawyers added.
Rasuli had already been acquitted by the Lesbos appeals court in December 2022, along with another Afghan refugee who was accused of the same crimes and sentenced to 50 years in prison.
"I suffered so much in prison for a crime I haven’t committed. Money will never give me back the time that has been taken from me," Rasuli said as he left court, as quoted by LCL.
A Greek law from 2014 states that any migrant accused of piloting a boat carrying refugees faces a minimum 10-year prison sentence, even if it is proven that they are not a people smuggler and were not paid to make the crossing.
"It should not be forgotten that this case is only one of thousands, as people charged or convicted of smuggling make up the second largest prison population in Greece, and most will never be compensated for this time in prison, even if eventually acquitted", said LCL.
[RMXnews] Afghan nationals who worked with the German army during the military operation in the country have had requests to bring their second wives and children to Germany approved, a move that is posing complex legal problems.
Afghan employees of the Bundeswehr were granted visas to reside in Germany following the military withdrawal from Afghanistan, and family reunification laws enabled the employees to bring their spouses and children with them.
However, a poor excuse is better than no excuse at all... the German newspaper Westfalenpost reported that in at least two known instances, subsequent reunification requests were approved to bring further spouses and children. This was confirmed by the local immigration office in the Hochsauerland district.
In one instance, the husband is living with one wife and three children while the second wife lives in a separate apartment nearby with another seven children.
Another husband is understood to be living with both his wives and nine shared children.
While polygamy is illegal in Germany, there are extenuating circumstances if the marriages have been concluded in compliance with foreign laws. The practice is widely accepted in a number of Islamic countries; however, it still creates certain legal problems in relation to citizenship. Specifically, one of the former Bundeswehr employee’s children was born in Germany but has been unable to obtain a German birth certificate because her parents’ marriage is not recognized in Germany.
This issue is something that could become more frequent after the federal government relaxed family reunification laws.
Germany issued an increased number of visas last year for the purpose of reuniting spouses of foreign nationals. A total of 71,129 visas were granted; Indians and Turks received the highest number of approved requests with 8,930 and 8,778 cases, respectively.
The figure could have been much higher had 13,607 people hoping to join their spouses not failed to pass the language requirement test.
Germany has bucked the recent European trend towards more restrictive immigration measures with its liberal coalition government instead opting to attract more migrant workers.
Monika Schnitzer, who heads the influential German government’s Council of Experts, told the Suddeutsche Zeitung in July that new arrivals didn’t even need to speak German as she called for mass immigration to hit 1.5 million a year.
As the number of new arrivals rises, including large families under reunification laws, so too is the number of children receiving state benefits, which has hit a record high. A total of 888,218 foreign minors now receive state welfare benefits, a figure that has tripled in 13 years, with 303,962 minors receiving financial assistance in 2010.

Women and girls have been banned from attending high school and university as well as barred from visiting parks, fairs and gymnasiums.
They have also mostly been blocked from working for UN agencies or NGOs, with thousands sacked from government jobs or paid to stay at home.
French immigration authority chief Didier Leschi told AFP that by presidential order, "special attention is being paid to women who are primarily threatened by the Taliban because they have held important positions in Afghan society... or have close contacts with Westerners.
"This is the case for five women who will arrive today," Leschi said.
The women include a former university director, an ex-NGO consultant, a former television presenter, and a teacher at a secret school in Kabul.
One of the women was accompanied by three children.
The women had been unable to leave Afghanistan on airlifts to Western countries when the Taliban returned to power in 2021.
They fled to neighbouring Pakistain where they sought temporary refuge. From there, the French authorities organised their evacuation, Leschi said.
Once they arrive in La Belle France, they will be registered as asylum seekers and given housing while their applications for refugee status are considered, Leschi said.
'HARD FIGHT' FOR VISAS
Leschi said that such evacuations were "likely to be repeated" for other Afghan women with a similar profile.
However, a woman is only as old as she admits... Delphine Rouilleault, the head of the La Belle France Terre D'Asile NGO working for refugees, said the evacuations were "not the fruit of a political decision" but gained "after a hard fight" to obtain visas for them.
The women will be initially housed in a centre run by her organization, which has been rallying for months for the evacuation of more Afghan women facing a similar situation.
Rouilleault said "hundreds" of Afghan women were "hiding" in Pakistain.
In the middle of 2021, French President Emmanuel Macron had pledged that La Belle France would "be by the side of Afghans". French authorities say nearly 16,000 people have been evacuated from Afghanistan since then.
An NGO working for Afghan refugees and asylum seekers, Accueillir les Afghanes, in April deplored that Afghan women, especially those who were single, had been largely abandoned and asked Gay Paree to put in place an "emergency" programme to take them in.
[GEO.TV] Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir Wednesday stressed the importance of a strong economy for invincible defence, saying mutual cooperation is the key to the economic development of the country.
In a statement, commemorating Defence and Martyrs' Day, the army chief also berated those who tried to undermine the strong bond between the military and people.
"Pakistain Army as a national institution foiled it [sinister attempt] with great patience and wisdom," the statement added, quoting Gen Asim, read.
The COAS also termed unity and trust between the military and people a great asset.
Gen Munir said Defence and Martyrs Day is an important milestone in our national and military history. "This day reminds us of the eternal sacrifices of our armed forces."
He said armed forces thwarted the Indian aggression in the 1965 war with courage and professionalism and added that the nation displayed unity and solidarity during the conflict.
"With this spirit, we thwarted the enemy's aggression," the COAS said.
The Pakistain Army holds a prominent position in the world due to its discipline and high professional standards, Gen Munir said adding that the military is always ready to respond to any aggression of the enemy.
"It is the commitment of every officer and soldier of the Pakistain Army to put the defense of the country before his life."

[Aljazeera] A former head of the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad has said the country is enforcing an apartheid system against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.
Tamir Pardo has become the latest former senior Israeli official to claim Israel’s treatment of Palestinians amounts to apartheid, a reference to the system of racial separation in South Africa that ended in 1994. Perhaps Tamir should consider moving to utopian city of Johannesburg.
"There is an apartheid state here," Pardo said in an interview with the Associated Press news agency, published on Wednesday.
"In a territory where two people are judged under two legal systems, that is an apartheid state," Pardo said, joining a small but growing list of retired officials to endorse an idea that remains largely on the fringes of Israeli discourse and international diplomacy but has gained growing acceptance within human rights circles.
Given Pardo’s background, the comments carry special weight in security-obsessed Israel.
Pardo, who served as head of Israel’s spy agency from 2011 to 2016, would not say if he held the same beliefs while heading the Mossad. Learned to live with guilt has he ?
The former spy chief said that he believed that the question of the Palestinians is among the country’s most pressing issues — above Iran’s nuclear programme, seen by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as an existential threat.
Pardo said that as Mossad chief, he repeatedly warned Netanyahu that he needed to decide what Israel’s borders were or risk the destruction of a state for the Jews.

In PA controlled areas you have to separate potential terrorists from settlers. Either the PA does it (which it usually doesn't do) or the IDF has to do it.
It wasn't as great a problem when the PA areas had fewer weapons.

Yes! Makes we question the ability of migrants to pay the cartels huge amounts of USD to gain entry to the US.
The Epstein question again; where do these migrants obtain huge sums of money? NGO'S are reimbursed by the US Government on this end, it might follow that......

And we see how productive and functional South Africa became with the end apartheid. More equitable? Perhaps (there's doubts on that, what with the efforts to punish anyone who's profitable).
Fact is, if the people who keep the wheels turning in a society can't be protected from those who feel entitled to take whatever they want it's all gonna stop. Civilization runs on inertia, but if no one is pushing it along, friction will take over.
