Protesting Afghan Woman Activist Released After Temporary Arrest
[KhaamaPress] Waheeda Mahrami, an Afghan women activist muppet who was detained by the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
officials in the week, was released on Thursday, Afghanistan International reported.

Taliban had detained Waheeda Mahrami, a women activist muppet on Monday, March 20 in Kabul, according to a source close to her. On March 8, the International Women’s Day Mahrami described the restrictions on Afghan women as "gender apartheid", which eventually led to her detention.

It is reported that Mahrami had left her home on March 20 to attend an event celebrating the ancient New Year (Nowruz) festival, but never returned home since then.

The Taliban authorities have not yet commented about the woman activist muppet’s arbitrary detention and her release so far.

Mahrami used to regularly participate in women’s protests in Kabul, demanding the restoration of Afghan women’s rights and freedom. With the resumption of universities and educational institutions for male students, Maharmi was one of the few female students who participated in a symbolic protest and led a book behind the closed gate of Kabul University.

Africa Horn
US: Somalia on right track in bid to have arms embargo lifted
[Garowe] The federal government of Somalia is on the right course to have the arms embargo imposed by the United Nations
...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks...
Security Council [UNSC] lifted, a top US diplomat has confirmed, as the country prepares for the second phase of a crackdown against al-Shabaab
...... the personification of Somali state failure...
gunnies who have been losing strategic towns lately.

Somalia is set for the second phase of operations against al-Shabaab in the Holy month of Ramadan which has started, with the security teams aiming to comb areas that were liberated before focusing on regions that are still under the control of the al-Qada-linked group.

Larry Andre, the US ambassador to Mogadishu, told a security conference that the Horn of Africa nation is on the right course for reprieve which would significantly aid the momentum in the al-Shabaab war which has started to take shape. The country has been serving bans due to the unregulated purchase and ownership of weapons.

"President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s administration is taking decisive steps to meet the sanctions regime benchmarks. Doing so benefits Somalia and addresses the UN Security Council’s criteria for lifting the sanctions regime," he said during weapons and ammunition conference.

"We welcome the Federal Government of Somalia’s commendable progress on weapons and stockpile management. The modifications in the current resolution reflect that progress and recognize the work Somalia continues to achieve," added the envoy.

The United States Government, he said, remains committed to continuing its support for Somalia’s success and ensuring Somali forces can obtain the weapons they need to defeat al-Shabaab while mitigating the risk that weapons fall into the wrong hands.

For instance, he said, over the last five years, through our great partnership with the HALO Trust and Somali Security forces, the US eliminated 15 tons of obsolete, unusable, and unstable ammunition. "Our partnership has trained over 225 personnel in physical security and stockpile management to ensure facilities are utilized safely and effectively, according to international best practices," he added.

"We are proud of this work that has made the armory significantly safer both for the Somali security force personnel who use it, and the population that lives and works nearby. I would like to recognize the HALO Trust for this important work."

Initially, most weapons were being smuggled to the country from neighboring Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
but the government has put measures to curb the menace. The United Nations estimates that over $24 million is used by al-Shabaab annually to purchase weapons mostly from foreign nations thus the arms embargo.

The US and other international partners have been pushing for regulated buying of weapons in Somalia as a strategy to control ownership which is linked to the destabilization of the country. al-Shabaab has been working hard to dethrone the fragile UN-backed federal government for almost two decades.

Ethiopia appoints senior TPLF official as head of Tigray Interim gov't
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] Æthiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on Thursday appointed a bigwig in the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) as head of an interim government for Tigray after a peace deal ended a brutal two-year conflict.
What could possibly go wrong?
"Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has appointed Getachew Reda as president of the Tigray region’s interim administration," Abiy’s office said in a statement posted on Twitter.

The announcement comes just a day after parliament removed the TPLF from an official list of terrorist organizations, a move it said would help bolster the November 2022 agreement between the rebels and the federal government.

Getachew, an adviser to Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) leader Debritsión Gebremichael, previously served as communications minister in the federal government under Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn, who ruled from 2012 to 2018.

Under the terms of the peace deal signed in November in South Africa’s capital Pretoria, the Tigray People’s Liberation Front agreed to disarm in exchange for regaining access to Tigray, which was largely cut off from the outside world during the war.

U.S. judge orders Iran's central bank to pay $1.68 bn to families of Beirut's 1983 attack victims.

A federal judge in New York has ruled that Iran's central bank and a European mediator must pay $1.68 billion to the families of soldiers killed in a 1983 car kaboom on the US Marine barracks in Lebanon Hezbollahstan
...The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers, a practice dating back to the heady days of human sacrifice to Baal Moloch...
The judge cited a 2019 federal law that removed the Central Bank of Iran's sovereign immunity from a lawsuit seeking to enforce a judgment against Iran
...The nation is noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence...
for providing material support to the attackers.

In 2007, a federal court ruled in favor of the victims and their families, obligating Iran to pay $2.65 billion for the attack. The families sought bond proceeds allegedly owned by the Central Bank of Iran and managed by Clearstream Banking, a Luxembourg-based unit of Deutsche Borse AG, to satisfy the court ruling.

In January 2020, the U.S. Supreme Court
...the political football known as The Highest Court in the Land, home of penumbrae and emanations...
ordered a reconsideration of the case in light of new legislation passed under the National Defense Authorization Act.

The court in Luxembourg ordered Clear Stream in 2021 not to transfer the funds until a court in that country recognized the U.S. ruling. Clear Stream appealed the decision.

The 1983 Beirut barracks bombings were attacks that occurred on October 23, 1983, in Beirut, Lebanon, during the Lebanese Civil War.

Two truck bombs struck buildings housing multinational peacekeeping forces, specifically the United States Marine Corps and French Army.

The attacks killed 241 U.S. military personnel, 58 French military personnel, and six civilians.

American Investigation reported that the organization responsible for the bombings was the Shiite Death Eater group backed by Iran called Hezbollah, which was fighting against the Israeli occupation of southern Lebanon at the time.

The attack was widely considered a turning point in the United States' involvement in the Lebanese Civil War, leading to the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Lebanon.

#1  Didn't Obama and etc. already release the $$billions of Iranian held funds years ago as part a nuke deal?

So how will any judgement be collected?

Besides isn't this a world court issue and not a US Federal court issue?

India-Pakistan
56 foreign terrorists killed last year: DGP

Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh Thursday said that 56 foreign bandidos bully boyz had been killed in anti-terror operations in Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
last year.

"Last year, 56 foreign bandidos bully boyz were launched on the directions of Pak agencies to spread terrorism in J&K. However,
by candlelight every wench is handsome...
they were killed by the security forces," the DGP said, interacting with the journalists on the sideline of a function at Kathua.

"Some foreign bandidos bully boyz still alive and active have been tasked to disturb the peaceful atmosphere in Jammu and Kashmir. But anti-terror operations are in progress to kill them soon," he said. "The border grid is very strong and some more border posts are going to be opened. Hopefully, they will be made operational soon and other efforts will follow to strengthen the border grid."

The DGP said that Pakistain should handle issues of its own country instead of spreading terror in J&K.

About the arrest of a journalist in Kashmir, the J&K Police chief said, "The people who were involved in terror acts in any shape will face strict action as per the law even if they are journalists. Law is the same for everyone. Some journalists were found involved in furthering the Pak narrative or to promote terror activities."

He said that the infiltration bids across the border had declined.

"However,
by candlelight every wench is handsome...
our aim is to completely end any kind of possible infiltration from Pakistain," Singh said.

He said that some bandidos bully boyz had infiltrated in Rajouri and Poonch and they had killed innocent people in Dangri, Rajouri.

The DGP said that some bandidos bully boyz had also come from Baramulla and Kupwara before the snowfall and the security forces had killed them.

Referring to the major anti-drug smuggling operations in J&K, he said that besides terrorism, J&K was facing drug smuggling and addiction among the youth.

As a part of a major mission against drugs, Singh said, "J&K Police in every district is working in teams and has detected many smuggling cases. We have also taken strict action in smuggling of weapons and drugs."

He said that some cases had been handed over to the State Investigation Agency (SIA) and some to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

"Besides, we have also been working on some cases with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB)," the DGP said. "It’s our mission against the drugs that will be taken to its logical conclusion in J&K."

Iraq: Why Are Militias Fighting In Diyala, The Crossing Of Drugs And Weapons To And From Iran?
[ALESTIKLAL.NET] For a whole month, the Iraqi province of Diyala, bordering Iran, has been witnessing a series of liquidations and armed attacks that have affected civilians, killing about 30 people amid official secrecy about the parties behind all these crimes, despite government promises to arrest the perpetrators.

The governorate, representing 75% of the population, and linked to the largest border area with Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites....
in eastern Iraq, is controlled by several militias. The city’s governor, Muthanna al-Tamimi, has been in office since 2015.

Diyala citizens hold the armed militias responsible for the continued security tension in the province and call on the government to limit the security file to the army and police forces only.

Several militias are active in Diyala, led by Badr, Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq, Liwa al-Baqi, and Saraya al-Salam, along with other gangs.

In addition to this large number of militias alongside the regular forces, ISIS cells still record attacks in the governorate from time to time.

SECURITY BREAKDOWN
The last of these incidents in Diyala governorate was the earth-shattering kaboom of a bomb targeting the members of the Bani Tamim clan in the Muqdadiya district on March 6, 2023, killing 8 people and wounding two others.

A former brigadier general in the Iraqi army was killed with silenced weapons, in addition to the liquidation of the most famous cardiologist in the province, Dr. Ahmed Talal al-Madfai, followed by an armed attack on the village of al-Jayalah, during which 5 members of one family were killed, including two women.

"The army officer could not stop those who committed the crime of al-Jayalah, because he feared being arrested or expelled from his position, or even harming his family, and this is evidence that he knows them and that they are supported by political parties," said Raad al-Dahlaki, a member of parliament in Diyala.

Al-Dahlaki explained during a television interview on March 7, 2023, that "uncontrolled weapons are what control security in Diyala, and even the Prime Minister knows them by names and mentioned to me personally full details during a meeting in Baghdad, but why were they not arrested, we put a thousand interrogative marks."

The deputy wondered: "If the criminal is above the law, how is the situation with the official? This is why Diyala has become the main region in igniting or calming the security situation in Iraq. Crime is protected in the city."

He pointed out that "Diyala is witnessing a political struggle to control its capabilities. Within one month, 30 people were killed, and therefore the security situation has collapsed. The ultimate and distant goal of these parties is to take over the administration of the province."

Prime Minister Muhammed Shia’ al-Sudani stressed, during his meeting on March 7, the need to "enforce the law, and that there are no red lines in front of the state’s fulfillment of its responsibilities and duties."

Al-Sudani reaffirmed "the follow-up to the treacherous crime that the province witnessed, in which a doctor was killed, and that whoever committed this will be punished by law soon," stressing that "the blood of citizens is an issue that cannot be compromised or tolerated."

LOCATIONS OF DEPLOYMENT
Exclusive sources from HTS’ Office of Foreign Fighters told North Press that there are "over 7,500 fighters" not of Syrian nationality affiliated with HTS in Idlib. "Almost 6,200 — including Uyghurs, Caucasians, Tajiks, Chechens — are the vanguard in the HTS frontlines,
...also known as cannon fodder...
whereas non-Syrian Arabs, mostly from north Africa, hold administrative, security, and military positions."

Foreign fighters who left HTS or refuse to be affiliated with it, whether in combat or ideology, are not included in official statistics. They live with their families in the towns of al-Fu’ah, Kafraya, and Sarmin, in the northeastern countryside of Idlib, as well as in Ariha, Jisr al-Shughur, and various other villages. HTS’ prisons hold 340 imported muscle under charges of joining ISIS or espionage, according to the source.

A military source of HTS, affiliated with the Red Bands, one of the most brutal faction in its ranks, said they hold between 900-1,200 imported muscle from Chechnya, Tajikistan, and East Turkestan [China], in addition to Moroccans, Algerians, Libyans and several from Iraq and Egypt."

The most prominent foreign faction affiliated with HTS is the Bukhari Jamaat, which is composed of Chechens and Uyghurs, as well as Russian Caucasian groups. Jama’at al-Tawhid wal-Jihad has Uzbek, Turkmenistani, and Moroccan members. It also harbors fighters from Gulf countries, in addition to numbers of Syrians, and an Uzbek group, which holds over 550 krazed killers.

One of the most loyal foreign factions to HTS is the Turkmen Islamic Party, which holds the largest number of imported muscle, specifically Uyghurs, and is directly supported by Turkey because of their members’ Turkic origins. They also undergo training and security courses within Ottoman Turkish territory and have a hospitalization center in Antakya. Turkey has facilitated their entry into the country, according to the source.

The same source noted that there is also an Iranian faction, named the ’Sunni Youth in Iran’ under the command of ’Abu Muhammad al-Irani’, a former commander of al-Qaeda in Afghanistan. ’Abu Yahya al-Asfehani al-Irani’, another high-ranking member of the faction, holds around 150 Iranian fighters, and is affiliated with HTS on the frontlines in Idlib.

HTS also harbors prominent leaders from al-Qaeda in Pakistain and Afghanistan, as well as Iraq, who "have the greatest influence on [HTS leader] al-Jolani’s military approach," according to the source.

Abu Ayub al-Maghrabi is the emir in charge of borders and border crossings and was a former al-Qaeda leader in Pakistain, before heading to Syria. Abu Abdulrahman al-Qahtani, one of Jolani’s top men, was a colleague of Abu-Zaid al Kuwaiti, an al-Qaeda leader in Afghanistan and the "most distinguished student of [al-Qaeda leaders] the late Osama bin Laden
...... who is now beyond all cares and woe......
and al-Zawahiri
...Formerly second in command of al-Qaeda, now the head cheese, occasionally described as the real brains of the outfit. Formerly the Mister Big of Egyptian Islamic Jihad. Bumped off Abdullah Azzam with a car boom in the course of one of their little disputes. Is thought to have composed bin Laden's fatwa entitled World Islamic Front Against Jews and Crusaders. Currently residing in the North Wazoo area assuming he's not dead like Mullah Omar. He lost major face when he ordered the nascent Islamic State to cease and desist and merge with the orthodox al-Qaeda spring, al-Nusra...
." Additionally, there is Mazhar al-Ways, the most notable member of HTS’ Shura Council, who operated under the command of ISIS between 2013 and 2014 in ISIS’ so-called ’Wilayat al-Khair’ province in Deir ez-Zor.

There is also Musleh al-Alyan, one of the "most famous politicians of HTS from Saudi Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. Fifteen of the nineteen WTC hijackers were Saudis, and most major jihadi commanders were Saudis, to include Osama bin Laden. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman quietly folded that tent in 2016, doing terrible things to the guys running it, and has since been dragging the kingdom into the current century...
," together with ’Abdullah al-Mehisani’, a Saudi national and "the most prominent jihadi agitator," who currently works covertly from his residence in Sarmada, in north Idlib.

The Uzbek faction within HTS includes Abu Salah al-Turkistani and Khattab al-Shishani, students of Saifullah al-Jazrawi, one of al-Qaeda’s emirs in Afghanistan during al-Zawahiri’s rule. Many of those who fought under al-Qaeda’s banner are currently in the ranks of HTS, but "avoid publicity for fear of liquidation," according to the source.
