Afghanistan
Over 1600 Afghan Nationals Return to Country From Iran: Afghanistan
[KhaamaPress] Afghanistan’s Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation on Saturday announced that 1,682 Afghan refugees returned to the country from Iran.

The returnees entered Afghanistan through the ’Islamqala’ crossing point in western Herat
...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns...
province, and the needy families have been introduced to the United Nations
...boodling on the grand scale...
Agency for Refugees for help.

The Afghan refugee authorities have reported that thousands of Afghan citizens have returned from Iran
...They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
in the recent past. However,
a clean conscience makes a soft pillow...
it is still not clear whether the returnees were forced to leave Iran, or willingly came back to Afghanistan.

After the Islamic Emirate seized power in August 2021, thousands of Afghans migrated to the neighboring countries including Iran and Pakistain, mostly through Chaman and Torkham crossing points. A large majority of these migrants colonists did not have legal stay documents including visas or stay permits, now facing serious challenges in the host countries.

Furthermore, the Iranian government forcefully extradites those Afghan refugees who fail to provide legal stay documents (visa or refugee card) from UNHCR.

Meanwhile,

Afghanistan’s Consulate General in Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
on Saturday said that 137 Afghan nationals were released and will be extradited to Afghanistan in the coming days.

Since the return of the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
to power, more than 250,000 Afghan migrants colonists have entered Pakistain, some legally, others without valid passports and visas, according to The Guardian reports.

Since last summer, Pakistain’s Interior Ministry has taken serious steps to arrest undocumented Afghan nationals and forcefully deport them to Afghanistan. It is believed that more than 600 Afghan refugees have been extradited in three days in January alone, and detentions have increased throughout Pakistain.

The incarceration and forceful deportation of Afghan citizens in the neighboring countries including Iran, and Pakistain continue, as they flee Afghanistan fearing persecution and death threats under the Taliban regime.

Taliban rips out trees in ‘political move’ at Kabul University
[AMUtv] The Taliban
...Arabic for students...
has started systematically removing established trees in the gardens of Kabul University’s campus in what some say is a political move.

Many of the trees were planted over the past 20 years, by key figures including one planted by former president Burhanuddin Rabbani
... the gentlemanly murdered legitimate president of Afghanistan...
, who was assassinated in a suicide kaboom in Kabul in 2011.

Sources said the Taliban has brought in workers with excavators and electric saws and for the past two weeks have been systematically pulling up trees — leaving open spaces where they once stood.

Many of the trees have been removed with their roots, said the sources who added that this latest move has impacted what were really well-maintained gardens at this sprawling campus.

According to two sources, who visited the campus, at least 20 trees have been removed from different areas, including the yard in front of the chancellor’s office, the fine arts faculty, the auditorium and in a garden behind the computer science faculty.

The sources said this latest move is "political" as many of the trees were planted by well known individuals including Rabbani.

Some students said they were "shocked" by the move, calling it "horrible". They said the landscape in many areas has completely changed and is "horribly" empty in places.

The sources told Amu TV that a Taliban team from Kabul Municipality is working closely with university officials and recently held a meeting. However,
man does not live by words alone, despite the fact that sometimes he has to eat them...
details of what was discussed at the meeting are not as yet available. Taliban officials at Kabul Municipality did not respond to Amu’s queries about the removal of trees at Kabul University.

Kabul University is one of the biggest universities in Afghanistan and one of the oldest. It was established in 1932 during the reign of King Mohammed Nadir Shah.

Security and local government sources told AFP last week that Hamad bin Hamoud al-Tamimi had been killed, identifying him as a top leader of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula

Tamimi, a Saudi also known as Abdel Aziz al-Adnani, died in a dronezap on February 26 that targeted his residence in war-torn Yemen’s northern Marib province, according to the statement reported by SITE, which monitors jihadist websites.

The statement identifies him as a "media official" who "previously managed external operations in the group, including those striking American interests," SITE says.

The Grand Turk
Turkey deports 1.486 Syrians in February
[NPASyria] The administration of Bab al-Hawa border crossing with The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
, north of Idlib Governorate in northwest Syria, revealed on Sunday the number of Syrian refugees that Turkey deported to the Syrian opposition-held areas in northwestern Syria, during February.

The crossing administration said on its official Facebook account that the number of Syrians deported by the Ottoman Turkish authorities to Syria in February amounted to 1.486 people, including women, men and children.

The administration previously said that the number of deportees during January reached 1.325, according to what the administration posted on its official Facebook account.

On March 3, the administration of the Bab al-Hawa border crossing announced that more than 15.000 Syrians holding the Temporary Protection Card (Kimlik), had crossed from earthquake-hit Turkey into Syria after Turkey eased border-crossing procedures.

Turkey has repeatedly — and illegally — deported Syrian refugees under the pretext of violating asylum laws and not amending their data regarding the temporary protection ID card, also known as Kimlik.

India-Pakistan
Pakistani Police Fail In Bid To Arrest Ex-Prime Minister, Imran Khan
[SAHARAREPORTERS] Pak police have been unable to arrest former Prime Minister Imran Khan
...aka The Great Khan, who who convinced himself that playing cricket qualified him to lead a nuclear-armed nation with severe personality disorders...
despite having an arrest warrant from the court.

A warrant was issued for his arrest after he failed to show up in court in a corruption case, DW reports.

The police in the Asian country turned up at Khan's home in Lahore on Sunday armed with an arrest warrant, only to find that the former leader was not available, officials said.

"A team of Islamabad police has arrived in Lahore to arrest Imran Khan to comply with the court orders," police said in a tweet.

"Imran Khan is reluctant to surrender — the superintendent of police had gone into the room but Imran Khan was not present there," the tweet added.

The English-language Pak newspaper Dawn said Khan was addressing his party workers at the residence as the police arrived.

According to DW, the vice chairman of Khan's Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf
...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations....
(PTI) party, Shah Mehmood Wormtongue Qureshi
...a Pak political shape-changer. He is undistinguished except for his habit of periodically needing to have his lips reattached...
, denied that there was any arrest warrant.

"We have received the notice from Islamabad police — the notice does not contain any order for the arrest," he told news hounds.

"We will consult our lawyers and follow the legal process," he added.
Khan, who was forced out of office in a no-confidence vote last year, is the subject of an arrest warrant for having failed to appear before a court on February 28 on corruption charges.

The former prime minister is accused of failing to declare gifts received during his time in office or the profit made from selling them.

Under Pak law, government officials must declare all gifts but are allowed to keep those below a certain value.

Since leaving office, Khan has attempted to disrupt politics in Pakistain, holding protests, pulling out of parliament and dissolving the two provincial assemblies his party controlled in a bid to force the government to hold early polls.

In November, he was shot and slightly maimed in an attack on his convoy.

Iraq
Iraqi government received 3,000 reports on torture last month: human rights activist

The Iraqi government has received more than 3,000 reports on torture cases in the country, the head of the Strategic Center for Human Rights in Iraq, Fadel al-Gharawi, said in a statement on Sunday.

"Since its formation, the current government has prioritized human rights
...not to be confused with individual rights, mind you...
issues, and there were indications within the government program," al-Gharawi said, "this culminated in the appointment of a human rights advisor with many powers to deal with the cases related to human rights and to coordinate with the relevant authorities.

The former member of Iraq's Higher Committee for Human Rights said that the government had established a committee headed by the human rights advisor himself to look into the reported torture cases.

Al-Gharawi explained that the committee received more than 3,000 complaints and reports on torture last month.

"The committee is working to refer them directly to the Judicial Council to conduct the necessary investigations and take legal action. If a complaint is proven true, the persons who may have been coerced into making statements under torture will be retried," he said.

Torture in Iraq has been a persistent problem since the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003, and has been carried out by a range of actors, including US forces, Iraqi security forces, and non-state gangs.

The Abu Ghraib prison scandal, which became public in 2004, revealed that US military personnel had committed numerous human rights abuses against Iraqi detainees, including torture, sexual assault, and other forms of mistreatment. The scandal led to widespread condemnation and calls for accountability from both Iraqis and the international community.

Since then, numerous reports have documented ongoing human rights abuses, including torture and ill-treatment, at the hands of Iraqi security forces. These abuses have been particularly prevalent during periods of sectarian violence and insurgency, such as the years following the US withdrawal from Iraq in 2011.

In recent years, human rights organizations have documented cases of torture and ill-treatment in Iraqi prisons, including the use of electric shocks, beatings, and sexual violence. These abuses have been carried out by various security forces, including the Iraqi military, police, and intelligence services.

In addition to abuses by state actors, non-state gangs operating in Iraq have also been known to use torture and other forms of violence against detainees. For example, in areas controlled by the Islamic State

group, reports have documented brutal torture and execution of prisoners, often for their religious or ethnic identity.

Efforts to address the problem of torture in Iraq have been hindered by a lack of accountability and weak rule of law. While some perpetrators have been brought to justice, the vast majority of cases have gone unpunished.

Exhumation of Yazidi mass grave begins in Shingal
[Rudaw] Families of victims of the Yazidi genocide, longing to learn the fate of their loved ones, gathered in the village of Hamadan in Shingal (Sinjar) on Saturday as specialized teams started to exhume a mass grave.

The grave is believed to hold the bodies of at least 30 people killed by the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) in 2014.

Ziyad Khalaf, a Yazidi survivor, recalled the moment ISIS murderous Moslems took them en masse and ordered their execution.

"Their emir [leader] came and said take them out and kill them all. I told my group to keep together in the hope that God and the Peacock Angel will save some of us," he told Rudaw’s Ayub Nasri referring to a central figure in the Yazidi faith.

The exhumation is being carried out by the Iraqi government in coordination with the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and is overseen by the United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
Investigative Team to Promote Accountability for Crimes Committed by ISIS (UNITAD).

ISIS seized control of large swaths of land in Iraq and Syria in 2014. The group committed genocide against Yazidis when they swept through the religious minority’s heartland of Shingal, killing around 5,000 Yazidi men, some of whom were put into mass graves. Around 7,000 women and girls, some as young as nine, were enslaved.

The fate of over 2,500 Yazidis who were kidnapped by ISIS remains unknown, according to data from Rescue Kidnapped Yazidis office established by Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani.

Exhumation of mass graves began in 2019 in Shingal. Progress halted during the coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)
...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...

Border town residents feel safer after Malaysia cracked down on human smuggling
[BenarNews] Residents of this community near where mass graves of trafficked migrants colonists were discovered eight years ago say the border area is much quieter now — and they’re hoping it stays that way.

A decade ago, distressed foreigners on foot used to knock on doors asking for food. And city dwellers arrived by car from hundreds of kilometers away to buy Thai goods for cheap at outposts just inside Malaysia.

But all that changed in 2015, after Malaysian authorities discovered more than 100 bodies — thought to be Rohingya and Bangladeshis — in two jungle locations in northern Perlis state, near a camp equipped with cages to lock up migrants colonists.
