The liberal government here tried this bodycam thing. Some metro PDs have them. They work most of the time when helping old ladies cross the road, tourists find their destination etc. When real work is to be done, they 'malfunction'.
[ToloNews] New Zealand forces are ending their 20-year mission in Afghanistan this month, but they have left behind an essential project in Bamiyan ...a place in Afghanistan that used to have some historically interesting statues of the Buddha carved into a mountainside. Then the holy men showed up and now all they have is some big holes... province, the Renewable Energy Program, which has enabled the residents of the central province to have access to sustainable electricity.
The project was commissioned in 2012 and was ready for use in 2014, covering the city of Bamiyan, which attracts tourists from within and outside Afghanistan every year.
Bamiyan residents make up almost 60 percent of the nation's solar power users, according to the country’s power distributor, Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS). The company earns 20 million Afs ($250,000) a year from solar energy users, with 75 percent of that income from solar energy users in Bamiyan. The company has almost 4,500 customers in the city of Bamiyan.
A small number of Bamiyan residents have access to power, but the solar energy they use is more sustainable compared to other parts of the country. It is not affected by damage to power pylons or vulnerable to technical problems with power from Uzbekistan.
"We always have access to electricity. The button is under our control. It is safe from terrorists’ threats," said Sayed Mohammad Kabir Tabish, a Bamiyan resident.
"We have been using this power for almost 10 years. It has never been cut off," said Sedaqat, a Bamiyan resident.
Bamiyan is not connected to the national power network and it is not clear when it will benefit from imported electricity.
A civil society activist in Bamiyan, Latifa Nasiri, said the project needs to be extended as it is a main demand of the Bamiyan residents.
"Electricity has lit our houses and has helped us get access to technology," said Amin Hamta, a Bamiyan resident.
An energy expert said it takes more time to distribute imported power or electricity produced by local dams.
"It takes six years for a hydropower project to be completed, but the same project takes one year for solar energy," said Shakibullah Hedayat, a renewable energy expert.
Currently DABS distributes 2 megawatts of power to 4,450 subscribers in the city of Bamiyan.
A big part of Afghanistan’s power is provided by imported electricity from Central Asian countries, but the power supply, which mainly serves Kabul, is vulnerable to a lack of security. DABS said last week that 13 power pylons were either damaged or destroyed by explosions in the last three weeks, mainly in the north of Kabul as well as in Baghlan province. This led to continued intermittent power outages in Kabul that still continue.

The report indicated that al-Qaeda relied on the Taliban for protection, which is a clear indication of not severing ties with global terrorism.

"Contractors need up-to-date information from USG (U.S. government) officials on the constantly changing drawdown impact on USG missions in Afghanistan and on the security environment for contractor operations," News Agency that Dare Not be Named quoted the representatives.
"Better communications and prudent planning that includes contractors can help protect our people while executing the drawdown and achieving defense, development, and diplomatic goals," the representatives said.

Egypt has wanted nothing to do with Gaza since its expulsion in 1967. It did not favor the creation of Hamas in 1988, and it has limited any immigration from Gaza to Egypt to a trickle. It is aware that the most promising citizens of that enclave left the place years ago, and now only the detritus is left. What it fears most is an Israeli policy to retake Gaza and the consequent dispersion of Gaza residents fleeing to Eygpt. It won't happen. But the thought is always there.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, however, has denied Israel has done anything beyond defending itself and vowed to continue until Hamas is deterred from future violence.
The escalating conflict is of "extreme concern" to the Kremlin, and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov urged Israel to carefully consider the actions they take.

[Just The News] A senior Hamas leader this month joined a years-long chorus from fellow extremists telling Palestinians to kill Jews using multiple methods, including cutting off their heads with knives, according to translated videos.
In a video released on May 17, the Israel Defense Forces portrayed the latest such demand, from Fathi Hammad, a member of the Hamas Political Bureau.
"People of Jerusalem, we want you to cut off the heads of the Jews with knives," Hammad shouted while speaking at a May 7 rally. The video was translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI). "With your hand, cut their artery from here," Hammad said. "A knife costs five shekels. Buy a knife, sharpen it, put it there, and just cut off [their heads]."
Leaders of the militant group have for years alternately issued and retracted the deadly instructions. Hammad five years ago called for Palestinians around the world to murder Jews.
"All of you 7 million Palestinians abroad, enough of the warming up," Hammad said at a 2019 protest near Gaza. "You have Jews everywhere, and we must attack every Jew on the globe by way of slaughter and killing, if God permits."
Those comments brought condemnation, including from Hamas.
