[FOXNEWS] A New York man willing to testify against MS-13 members who attacked him in 2018 was found dead earlier this week after his identity was disclosed to defendants’ attorneys in pre-trial proceedings, police say.
The bludgeoned body of 36-year-old Wilmer Maldonado Rodriguez was found Sunday outside an abandoned home in New Cassel, the Nassau County Police Department announced Wednesday. Investigators said Rodriguez in October 2018 came to the defense of two boys who were being threatened by the gang ‐ only to be beaten with a bat and stabbed, according to Newsday.
"This courageous man was prepared to testify against his alleged assailants at an upcoming trial, but he was brutally beaten to death before he could," Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas said in a statement provided to the newspaper.
"This case underscores the importance of safeguarding the identities of witnesses and victims of crime and our hearts are with Mr. Maldonado’s family and friends as we grieve his loss."

The New York government is, at minimum, an accessory to this murder.
But last December, ahead of looming changes to New York’s criminal justice system, including reforming the pre-trial discovery phase – during which prosecutors reveal evidence to the defense for preparation – the judge in the case issued a new order.
It allowed “for the disclosure of the protected information to defense counsel,” Newsday reports. The judge’s order, it added, required attorneys for two defendants not to reveal Rodriguez' s name to their clients until the trial’s start date of Jan. 6. However, Nassau Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder said Wednesday that the trial was delayed.
“We don’t know if the defense counsel turned that information over to the defendants, but we do know that right after that time period… started this pattern of intimidation,” Ryder said. He told reporters Wednesday that another witness on the case was shot at in New Cassel on Jan. 30.
“On February 1st, 2020, Wilmer, our now victim, deceased, was also beaten on and he escaped from there,” Ryder said. “Then on February 2nd, we found Mr. Rodriguez’s body.”
“The individuals whoever did this attack, we believe had received that information,” Ryder concluded, referring to Rodriguez’s identity. He noted that the investigation into Rodriguez’s killing is ongoing and no suspects have been identified.

(IS) group on Friday lost the first round of her legal challenge against a decision to revoke her citizenship.
The Special Immigration Appeals Commission (SIAC) ruled that the government decision to strip 20-year-old Shamima Begum of her citizenship "did not make her stateless" as she was a citizen of Bangladesh by descent.
"The appellant (Begum) was in that situation as a result of her own choices, and of the actions of others, but not because of anything the Secretary of State had done," said judge Doron Blum, referring to then-interior minister Sajid Javid.
The judgment was made despite SIAC finding that Begum could not have "a fair and effective appeal" against the decision as she is currently in a Syrian refugee camp.
Begum's lawyer Daniel Furner said she would "immediately initiate an appeal" against the decision.
"The logic of the decision will appear baffling, accepting as it does the key underlying factual assessments of extreme danger and extreme unfairness and yet declining to provide any legal remedy," he said.
Begum, then 15, was one of three schoolgirls from Bethnal Green in east London who left home to join the holy warrior group on February 17, 2015.
She claims she married a Dutch convert soon after arriving in IS-held territory. She was discovered, nine months pregnant, in a Syrian refugee camp in February last year.
Her newborn baby died soon after she gave birth. Two of her other children also died under IS rule.
Javid removed her British citizenship soon after amid an outcry led by right-wing media. He has said more than 100 people had been deprived of their British citizenship.
Begum took legal action against the Home Office last year.
Her lawyer, Tom Hickman, argued his client "is not considered a national of Bangladesh and was therefore rendered stateless" by the Home Office.
The decision was unlawful as it breached the Home Office's extraterritorial human rights One man's rights are another man's existential threat. policy by exposing Begum to "a real risk of death or inhuman or degrading treatment", he argued.
In the next stage of the process, the court will have to decide if the government had legitimate national security grounds to prevent her from returning to the UK.

There's a video of her renouncing her citizenship and burning her passport.
She's a citizen of ISIS. According to Bangladesh law she can claim citizenship there. UK has nothing to do with her. If they let her come back she'll just explode in a crowd and kill people.

[DAWN] A three-member committee, formed on the directives of chief minister to hold a fact-finding probe into the killing of two lady health workers in Swabi district last week, has said in its report that security lapse made the slain vaccinators a soft target.

There was no security for the teams in the rural area, which allowed the suspected murderous Moslems to fire at the LHWs. One of them was killed instantly while the other died at the hospital.
On Thursday last, the home and tribal affairs department formed the fact-finding committee, including the special secretary of home department, Islam Zeb, DIG Kashif Alam of police department and Sharif Hussain, the additional secretary of home department, to identify security lapse during the incident and propose suitable action to avoid such mishaps in future.
Officials said that the police deployed 29,000 teams in every polio campaign to provide protection to polio workers in door-to-door drive but in Parmoli, where the latest incidence occurred, the vaccinators lacked security. The committee has recommended foolproof security for vaccinators in future to avoid such mishaps.

Iran admitted its missiles downed the Ukrainian airliner by mistake on Jan. 8, killing all 176 people aboard, including 57 Canadians.
Canadian lawyers, who previously successfully sued Iran, are seeking class action status in a lawsuit on behalf of victims aboard a Ukrainian plane shot down over Tehran last month, looking for at least C$1.5 billion ($1.1 billion) in compensation.
The suit names Iran, its supreme leader, the elite Revolutionary Guards and others as defendants. Iran admitted its missiles downed the Ukrainian airliner by mistake on Jan. 8, killing all 176 people aboard, including 57 Canadians.
The lead plaintiff in the case is anonymous, preliminarily identified as John Doe, and described as immediate family to a victim identified as Jack Doe.
The filing says John Doe's identity must be protected because of the risk that "his Iranian family would be put at risk of harm or death by the Iranian regime."
The suit alleges that the downing of the plane was "an intentional and deliberate act of terrorism."
Iranian authorities did not immediately comment on Friday, when government offices are closed.
Jonah Arnold is co-lead counsel with his father Mark Arnold, who has represented clients in several suits against Iran, including a 2017 appeal decision that led to seizure of some Iranian assets in Canada.
The 2017 ruling was in a case brought by U.S. victims of bombings, killings and kidnappings that U.S. courts ruled Iran was responsible for. But the plaintiffs could not claim the $1.7 billion in judgments in the United States.
It was not clear whether Iran has any assets remaining in Canada. Arnold said the case would likely unfold over years, and any judgment could be renewed and enforced in the future.
"Providing a voice for the families and seeking compensation for them in the courts is the primary objective," Jonah Arnold said. "When we get there, and we need to look for those assets, that's what we'll do."
Besides Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei ...the actual dictator of Iran, successor to Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini... , others named in the lawsuit are top commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, including the head of the unit responsible for shooting down the plane, Amirali Hajizadeh.
Foreign states are not typically within the jurisdiction of Canadian courts. A 2012 Canadian law limited that immunity for countries Ottawa lists as "foreign state supporters of terrorism," currently Iran and Syria.
The suit was filed Jan. 24 in Toronto, but it is not clear whether it has been served on defendants in Iran.
Arnold said the Canadian government is required to ensure that happens, and that he has received confirmation that the suit is "en route."
Global Affairs Canada did not immediately comment.
