'Flying UN chair' lands in Moscow
...and are it's arms tired.
BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- The handmade Palestinian UN chair continues its world tour in Moscow on Monday, where it was displayed at the Hall of the Warrior Glory.
Stand back everybody! No need to push and shove! Everybody will get to see it!
Hosted by Palestinian embassy staff, activists from the "Palestine deserves" campaign presented the chair at a reception attended by the ambassador of Costa Rica.
Proving that the ambassador of Costa Rica will go to anything that he's invited to...
"...mmmmmph... you guys gotta check out the kiwi and salmon dip..."
"We seek to present this hand-made symbolic UN chair for Palestine to the Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon, chairperson of the UN Security Council, and the General Assembly," said Ayman Subeih, a coordinator of the campaign.
Oh, boy! Does it really fly?
Only when the plastique padding is detonated.
The chair was commissioned by a Palestinian NGO which is hoping to rally support for the campaign to secure full UN membership for a Palestinian state when the General Assembly meets in New York later this month. Made from Jerusalem olive wood and upholstered in crushed velvet in the UN's trademark air force blue, the chair is embossed with the words: "Palestine's Right -- A full membership in the United Nations."
Don't worry, Ban Man. They can probably buff that right out so it don't clash with your drapes. And the velvet will probably be a nice match for your Elvis paintings...
"The wood came from an olive tree in Jerusalem, the olive tree being a symbol of Palestine,
Nah, it's the toddler in the suicide vest.
while the blue upholstery with white writing came from Nablus," said Sufian al-Qawasmi, the Hebron-based designer who supervised the project.
Pic at the link. I think they probably bought it at IKEA...
It doesn't look very comfortable. And clearly it was made from a very small olive tree. Those Palestinians aren't as generous as they're making out.

The Fate of Blacks in Libya
TAWERGHA, Libya -- was once home to thousands of mostly black non-Arab residents. Now, its abandoned.

What happened to the residents of Tawergha?

The main road into the village was blocked with earthen berms. Signs marking the way to the village appeared to have been destroyed.

On the only sign remaining "Tawergha" had been painted over with the words "New Misrata."

On one wall in Tawergha, graffiti referred to the town's residents as "abeed," a slur for blacks.
This is obviously a racial atrocity and yet where is Rev Jackson's voice or Rev Sharpton's voice, etc.
Remember, your own comments get highlighted.

Oil flows, companies return to Libya
On the economic front, the International Energy Agency said Libya could recover a quarter of its oil production by the end of 2011, and two-thirds by end-2012, adding a return to full output of about 1.6 million barrels a day could take two to three years.

And Canada said it has freed up $2.2 billion dollars of Libyan assets frozen in its banks as it renewed ties with the North African country.

The World Bank's recognition of the NTC came a day after China, which had long helped prop up Qaddafi before the uprising broke out, became the last permanent member of the UN Security Council to do so.

But South African President Jacob Zuma said Tuesday the African Union still does not recognize Libya's new leaders, on the eve of a regional meeting in Pretoria on the latest developments in the conflict.

Also Tuesday, Canadian engineering giant SNC Lavalin Group said it would still monitor the situation before returning to work on its Libyan projects, which include a prison, a water pipeline and an airport. SNC Lavalin spokeswoman Claudia Martin said the company does plan to go back to Libya but was looking into security.

"We are pleased and encouraged to hear that the government of Canada has lifted its sanctions for resuming business in Libya. This is positive news and as we have always maintained, once the situation is stabilized, it is our intention to return to this country," she said. "We look forward to continuing the projects that were already underway, but before proceeding, we must be 100 percent certain that the situation is stable and secure from the perspective of the safety of our people."

Suncor Energy said last week that it was confident it would return to Libya but the timing was unclear.

Libya's new regime promises moderate rule
TRIPOLI: The World Bank said it recognizes the National Transitional Council as Libya’s official government, after the new regime promised moderate Islamic rule and to investigate alleged war crimes. Explaining its decision was based on “evolving events in Libya and the views of member countries,” the bank pledged a major rebuilding role.

The move came as the NTC sought the surrender of Qaddafi diehards who have been mounting attacks against its fighters from a few enclaves including Bani Walid, southeast of Tripoli.

But the pro-NTC forces who brought down the Qaddafi regime found themselves on Tuesday also accused of committing war crimes by Amnesty International.
These things happen in a civil war. They aren't right but they happen.
Amnesty said in the first days of the uprising groups of protesters killed a number of captured soldiers and suspected mercenaries. But Amnesty acknowledged the atrocities allegedly committed by the now governing opposition were of a “smaller scale” than those carried out by Qaddafi’s regime.

The NTC responded by vowing to investigate the allegations, while acknowledging “there are a small number of incidents involving those opposed to Qaddafi.” In a statement issued in Benghazi, the council’s executive committee said “the NTC is firmly committed to human rights and the rule of law, both international and local”.

In his first public speech since arriving in Tripoli on Saturday, LibyaÂ’s interim leader Mustafa Abdel Jalil told thousands of supporters in MartyrsÂ’ Square that moderate Islam would be LibyaÂ’s main source of legislation.

“We seek a state of law, prosperity and one where Shariah is the main source for legislation, and this requires many things and conditions,” he said, adding that “extremist ideology” would not be tolerated.

NTC officials said they did not advertize the public appearance for fear pro-Qaddafi elements would try to disrupt it.

“The most important thing was what he said about building a nation of laws, and his reassurances about extremism, from the left or the right, Islamists or secularists,” Osama Gheriani, a 30-year-old dentist, said. “It’s a moderate country. This was the most important point.”
Sure Osama. Wanna bet we get a pic of you as Libya's "rage boy" in a few months?

Interim Libyan Leader Calls for Reconciliation in His First Public Speech
[Tripoli Post] The leader of Libya's transitional government, Mustafa Abdul-Jalil received a hero's welcome in Tripoli's newly-named Martyrs' Square Monday night as thousands turned out to listen to his first address to the people in Tripoli at the same venue that the deposed Libyan leader, Muammar Al Qadaffy
...who single-handedly turned a moderately prosperous kingdom into a dictator's fantasyland...
used for some many years as the showcase for his supposed popularity.

It was so ironic that at the same time that Al Qadaffy has gone underground hiding from the Libyan people and the world in the hope that he could escape capture and an appearance before the International Criminal Court
... where Milosevich died of old age before being convicted ...
to be charged with crimes against humanity, the people were ushering in the new Libya under a new interim government that is set on unifying the people.

A cheering crowd made up of thousands waiving the three-coloured freedom flag of red, black and green heard Jalil make a passionate call for national reconciliation in an effort to move the country toward normality after almost seven months of conflict that ousted dictator Al Qadaffy from power and put an end to his 42-year rule.

Fireworks went kaboom! overhead and women carried babies dressed in the colours of the revolution on this occasion in Martyrs' Square, which has been named in honour of the people who died as they fought for freedom in the revolution.

Jalil took pains to credit everyone who had helped the revolution, including the NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A collection of multinational and multilingual and multicultural armed forces, all of differing capabilities, working toward a common goal by pulling in different directions...
alliance whose air strikes turned the tide of battle, rebels like a young man who had lost a leg in the fighting and joined the officials on the stage, and women, who he said had played a critical role in the revolution and would be given important positions.

Young people expressed their joy with freedom chants as they heard the interim leader say that the new Libya would focus on youth and women, even adding that some ministries and embassies would be headed by women.

To cheers from the front of the crowd, where women and girls waved flags and showed great enthusiasm he said: "Women will be ambassadors, "Women will be ministers."

In the festive atmosphere that prevailed, Abdul-Jalil seemed to choose his words in not only outlining the road the new Libya would take as it undertakes a nationalist programme that respects beliefs and traditions on the way forward, but also made an effort to convince remaining Al Qadaffy loyalists that they could safely surrender.

During his first public address from Tripoli, a significant one following the ousting of Al Qadaffy, Jalil promised to build "a state of institutions, a state of law," and for Libyans to strive for a civil, democratic state.

Seif's Links to Former Regime's Army Revealed
[Tripoli Post] Deposed Libyan leader Muammar Al Qadaffy
...Megalomaniac dictator of Libya, admired everywhere for his garish costumes, funny hats, harem of cutie bodyguards, and incoherent ravings. As far as is known, he is the only person who's ever declared jihad on Switzerland...
's son Seif al-Islam had always denied he was taking part in politics, maintaining he withdrew from politics in Libya in August 2008. He also denied he had any connections with the brutal crackdown that started in February, but recently found evidence proves otherwise.

In a control room at Seif al-ISlam's farm on the outskirt of the Libyan capital, Tripoli, Sky News reports it has exclusively uncovered evidence showing his influence over the Libyan army. All is revealed in a document Sky says it has found among his personal papers at his abandoned house.

Seif had always denied links to the army, but the document found in his house is said to have included details of a meeting he had with a senior general agreeing to buy 40,000 machine guns and 5,000 sniper rifles. He had also requested to purchase sleeping gas and a guided bomb.

Sky News also found a lock-up in which Seif Al Qadaffy had stashed his personal possessions before going on the run.

The former Libyan leader's second son, has been supporting his runaway father all along in the conflict. Libyans say he had even become as spiteful as his father, or even worse.

Seif has been his father's right hand in the brutal crackdown telling supporters at the start of the uprising instigating his father's loyalists to "fight until the last bullet".

With his father and brother-in-law Abdullah al Senussi, Seif is now on the International Criminal Court
... where Milosevich died of old age before being convicted ...
's wanted list to be charged with crimes agains humanity and is sought after by Interpol.

Nato clueless about Gaddafi
Fred, we could tighten that headline up a little...
[Emirates 24/7] NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It's headquartered in Belgium. That sez it all....
does not know whether Moamer Qadaffy
...Custodian of Wheelus AFB for 42 long years...
is still in Libya as the fallen Libyan leader has disappeared from public view, an alliance front man said on Tuesday.

Colonel Roland Lavoie, the NATO mission's front man, said the alliance had received, at "various points" in the conflict, intelligence confirming that Qadaffy was still in Libya, but that today his whereabouts remained a mystery.

"To be frank we don't know if he has left the country," Lavoie told news hounds via videolink from the operation's headquarters in Naples, Italia.

"He has not made public appearances in the country for a while and this raises questions about his whereabouts. But we don't have sure information about where he is at this time," he said.

Qadaffy has only been heard from in audio recordings broadcast by a friendly channel, Syria-based Arrai Oruba television. And his most recent statement was read out by the channel's owner on Monday.

While Qadaffy's location remains the source of heavy speculation, members of Qadaffy's family and senior regime officials have decamped to neighbouring Algeria and Niger in recent days.

Lavoie repeated NATO's position that it was not trying to track down Qadaffy, as he insisted the alliance was given a UN mandate to protect civilians from attacks.

"We are not in the business of targeting or chasing Qadaffy," he said.

His loyalists, meanwhile, are struggling to keep a grip on their last bastions, with the area under their control shrinking by the day, Lavoie said.

Pro-Qadaffy fighters are concentrated in a triangle running from Bani Walid, a town southeast of Tripoli, to the coastal town of Sirte further east and the far-off desert town of Sebha in the south, Lavoie said.

But advances made by rebel forces in the last two days cut off access to the Sirte-Bani Walid axis and loyalist forces' control of Sebha is no longer assured, he said.

"Essentially the area of operation of Qadaffy is shrinking," the Canadian colonel said.

Lavoie also dismissed an attack by Gaddaafi fighters on the eastern oil hub of Ras Lanuf which appeared to be either a commando raid or an act of sabotage, but did not represent a territorial gain for former regime forces.

The Grand Turk
Turk PM champions recognition of Palestinian state
[Dawn] Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Edogan told a meeting of Arab League
...an organization of Arabic-speaking states with 22 member countries and four observers. The League tries to achieve Arab consensus on issues, which usually leaves them doing nothing but a bit of grimacing and mustache cursing...
foreign ministers in Cairo on Tuesday that the recognition of a Paleostinian state was "not an option but an obligation".

In a speech that will buttress his image as a regional leader, Erdogan also condemned Israel's stance, saying the "aggressiveness" of its policies "threaten the future of the Israeli people".

"The recognition of a Paleostinian state is the only right way. It's not an option, but an obligation. God willing, by the end of this month, we will have the opportunity to see Paleostine in a very different status at the United Nations
...Parkinson's Law on an international scale...
," Erdogan said.

"It's time to raise the Paleostinian flag at the United Nations. Let's raise the Paleostinian flag and let that flag be the symbol of peace and justice in the Middle East. Let's contribute to securing well deserved peace and stability in the Middle East."

Arab states will push for a fully decampedged Paleostinian state at the United Nations next week.

The Paleostinians decided to seek United Nations recognition of statehood after years of negotiations with Israel failed to deliver the independent state they want to establish in the West Bank, the Gazoo Strip and East Jerusalem, areas occupied by Israel in the 1967 Middle East War.

Erdogan, who has seen his popularity rise in the Arab world for his position against Israel, said the Israeli government's policies were an "obstacle to peace".

Turkey has downgraded its ties with former friend Israel over the 2010 killing by Israeli commandos of nine Turkish activists on a Turkish aid flotilla bound for Gazoo.

"Israel will break away from solitude only when it acts as a reasonable, responsible, serious and normal state," Erdogan said.

"While Israel is trying to secure its legitimacy in our region on one hand, it is taking irresponsible steps which unsettle its legitimacy on the other," Erdogan said.

The Turkish prime minister was visiting Egypt at the start of a North African tour aimed at cementing Turkey's standing in the region following the "Arab Spring" uprisings.

Pakistan's Malek Blames Afghan Refugees for Terror Attacks
[Tolo News] Pakistain's interior minister, Rehman Malik
Pak politician, current Interior Minister under the Gilani administration. Malik is a former Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) intelligence officer who rose to head the FIA during Benazir Bhutto's second tenure. He later joined the Pak Peoples Party and was chief security officer to Bhutto. Malik was tossed from his FIA job in 1998 after documenting the breath-taking corruption of the Sharif family. By unhappy coincidence Näwaz Shärif became PM at just that moment and Malik moved to London one step ahead of the button men.
, accused Afghan refugees of being responsible for terrorist attacks in the county.

"We have sealed the borders along Afghanistan in Balochistan

and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa
... formerly NWFP, still Terrorism Central...
and there will be a complete restriction of the movements of Afghans because they are behind most of the terror attacks," Malek said at a news conference at Quetta airport.

He claimed that foreign elements are behind insecurity in Pakistain.

The army and other security forces have been ordered to set up checkpoints to prevent Afghans and other foreigners' moving freely in Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. Pakistain has stopped issuing tourist visas to Afghans, Malek said.

"We have revived some check posts [and] some others will be restored by September 25," Malek said. "All the entry and exit points in Quetta are also being sealed to prevent the entry of terrorists."

He urged Afghan refugees to pick up refugee cards within a month.

Malek's announcement comes after more than 30 Pak youths were kidnapped by the Pak Taliban and reportedly brought to Afghanistan's Kunar province

Arab League chief calls his group 'impotent'
[Emirates 24/7] The Arab League
...an organization of Arabic-speaking states with 22 member countries and four observers. The League tries to achieve Arab consensus on issues, which usually leaves them doing nothing but a bit of grimacing and mustache cursing...
's new chief is calling his grouping "impotent" in the face of uprisings in the region.

Nabil Elaraby took the helm of the 22-member Arab League in June.

He told Arab foreign ministers in Cairo on Tuesday that criticism of the organization is "harsh" but justified.

Elaraby said the vaporous Arab League has been ineffective in dealing with uprisings across the Mideast this year. He said, "It became impotent in the face of any crisis which strikes Arab states and threatens their people."

He pledged to restructure the organization and promote bilateral accords between its members. "This is the biggest challenge the Arab League is facing," he said.

The league is an umbrella group of Arab countries in the region and has observer status at the United Nations
...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks...

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Good fences make good neighbors, Negev version
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Tuesday that the main aim of a fence which Israel is building on its border with Egypt is now to block militants and not just smugglers and illegal migrants.

"Putting up the fence is first of all against terror activity, and only after that against (other) infiltrators," army radio quoted him as saying during a tour of the border.

Israel began constructing the fence late last year to stem the influx of thousands of illegal migrants through the porous border, which has also been a major drug and human trafficking route into Israel.
And bedouins, and now jihadis...
A statement from Netanyahu's office said work on the fence would be speeded up and was expected to be completed by next September.

"Israel's border with Egypt is a border of peace. To continue the peace, there must be security, and to this end a fence is necessary," it quoted him as saying. "Its rapid construction is important for both peace and security."

Hamas keeps aloof from PLO statehood bid
[Al Jazeera] The Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason,-led government in Gazoo is distancing itself from the Paleostine Liberation Organisation's upcoming bid for full membership in the United Nations
...an organization whose definition of human rights is interesting, to say the least...
for both political and ideological reasons.

Hamas has said little about the bid, marking a sharp contrast to the frenzied political activity elsewhere in the region and beyond.

The overwhelming attitude in Gazoo, however, has been to keep silent. Hamas officials complain that their counterparts in the West Bank never consulted them, and that no public events are planned, although a small group of activists is trying to organise rallies in Gazoo City.

Many ordinary Gazooks simply shrug the whole affair off, saying it will have little impact on their daily lives.

"There are a lot of problems with the proposal, with what it will mean for refugees, for the right of return," said Alaa al-Rifati, the minister of the economy in Gazoo. "As usual this is an initiative from one side."

'Wait and see'

Hamas has not endorsed the bid because they see it as a Fatah-led initiative. Relations between the two factions remain sour despite years of reconciliation talks.

"Because nobody consulted us, we, Hamas, do not take this issue seriously," Ahmed Yusef, the deputy foreign minister in Gazoo, told Al Jizz.

Even so, active opposition of the bid places Hamas in the awkward position of campaigning against a Paleostinian state.

Most officials in Gazoo have therefore chosen to keep quiet, adopting what they call a "wait-and-see" policy. When asked about the issue in interviews, many are cautiously critical.

Yusef refused to call the vote symbolic, saying only that it is "a step in the right direction".

"The Hamas government didn't support this step, but we didn't reject it either," said Ihab al-Ghusain, an interior ministry front man.

"We want the Paleostinian people to have their national rights, but we are frustrated with the United Nations."

Al-Ghusain also noted that some legal scholars have been critical of the vote; specifically, that its implications for the right of return, and for the legitimacy of the PA itself, are unclear.

Officials in Gazoo are also sceptical the PA will actually follow through. Abbas has not yet submitted a formal bid to the UN, a move many Paleostinians thought he would do last month.

Aal-Rifati wondered whether Abbas, also known as Abu Mazen, would back down at the last minute.

"There needs to be coordination with other Paleostinian groups. We're not even really sure if Abu Mazen is still going to the United Nations," al-Rifati said.

"He was supposed to submit a proposal last month, but he did not ... and he has not announced if he will go to the Security Council."

Qatar PM Says Syria Must Pull Army Out of Cities before Dialogue
[An Nahar] Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem al-Thani said on Tuesday that Syria must stop its "killing machine" and pull its army out of cities, in remarks at the end of an Arab League
...an organization of Arabic-speaking states with 22 member countries and four observers. The League tries to achieve Arab consensus on issues, which usually leaves them doing nothing but a bit of grimacing and mustache cursing...
meeting.

"We cannot accept this killing machine. We cannot allow people to be killed this way," he told a news conference at the end of a regular meeting in Cairo of the pan-Arab body, of which Syria is a member.

"The army must withdraw from inside the cities so that we can start talking about a dialogue between the people and the government," he said.

Sheikh Hamad, who is also Qatar's foreign minister, said "there are those who cast doubt on some of the intentions" of the vaporous Arab League, insisting however, that "everyone supports Syria and its stability."

Earlier he read a statement at the end of a meeting of the 22-member bloc's foreign ministers calling for an "immediate" end to the bloodshed in Syria, where the U.N. says some 2,600 people have been killed since mid-March.

"There must be an immediate change that leads to an end to the bloodshed and protection of the Syrian people from more violence and killings," said the statement read out by the chair of the meeting, Sheikh Hamad.

"The Syrian leadership must take urgent steps to implement the measures it agreed upon during the visit of the secretary general," it said referring to a peace bid by Arab League chief Nabil al-Arabi.

on Saturday to discuss a 13-point document outlining Arab proposals to broker an end to the bloodshed, hold elections and push for reforms in the troubled country.

Afterwards Arabi said there had been an agreement with the embattled Syrian leader "on steps to carry out the reforms, (and) the elements will be submitted to the council of the Arab League."

On Tuesday, Arabi said Assad had agreed to receive an Arab League delegation to follow-up on the agreement struck at the weekend.

"But the Arab foreign ministers believe that there must be a ceasefire (in Syria) before the departure of the delegation," he said at a joint news conference with Sheikh Hamad.

The Arab League statement said the situation in Syria "is still very dangerous" and renewed the bloc's "deep concern over the pursuit of violence and the deaths and injury of large numbers of civilians."

The League, it said, discussed on Tuesday how it can help Syria resolve the crisis "in such a way to meet the aspirations of the Syrian people, guarantee Syria's security, stability and territorial integrity and prevent foreign intervention."

On Monday, activists said Syrian security forces rubbed out 23 people, 17 of them in and around the flashpoint central city of Hama.

U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay said that, as of Monday, a total of 2,600 people had been killed in the Syrian government's crackdown.

But senior Assad aide Buthaina Shaaban said on a visit to Moscow that 1,400 people had died since the demonstrations erupted six months ago -- half of them security force personnel and half of them "rebels".

Turkish PM Warns of Sectarian 'Civil War' in Syria
[An Nahar] Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned in comments published Tuesday that Syria could plunge into "civil war," as he began a tour of Arab countries where uprisings ousted autocratic leaders.

"I fear that matters will end with a civil war breaking out between the Alawites and the Sunnis," Erdogan said in an interview published by Egypt's independent al-Shourouk as he began his tour in Cairo.

Turkey's southern neighbor Syria, where security forces have waged a deadly crackdown against anti-government protests since mid-March, has a Sunni Mohammedan majority.

But its President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
One of the last of the old-fashioned hereditary iron-fisted fascist dictators. Before going into the family business Pencilneck was an eye doctor...
is a follower of the minority Alawi faith and Erdogan said many other key regime figures were too.

"We know that the Alawite elite dominates important positions within the regime, the army and the security forces," the Turkish premier said in the interview conducted last week.

"The people's anger is directed at them, not only because they are a tool of the government, but also because of their confession, and the Syrian regime is playing up this dangerous card," he said.

Erdogan said a number of the so-called "shabiha," or pro-government militia, accused by protesters of helping security forces smash the pro-democracy protests, "belong to the Alawite sect."

"This deepens the rift between them and the Sunni majority," he said.

Erdogan expressed frustration with Assad and his iron-fisted regime for failing to "listen to the voice of the people," who have been demanding democracy in almost daily protests for six months.

"Unfortunately he did not do it," he said, warning of the consequences of failing to meet popular aspirations for reform.

He said a solution would be for Assad to get rid of "those surrounding him who insist on the repression and the breaking of the Syrian people's will".

"If President Bashar does not take this step, he personally will pay the price," Erdogan said.

He said Turkey has been consulting with Syria's key regional ally Iran to try to find a way out of the bloody repression of pro-democracy protests which, according to U.N. estimates, has claimed at least 2,600 lives so far.

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu "will soon travel to Tehran to pursue consultations on the situation in Syria and after that I will visit Tehran to meet officials," Erdogan said.

Erdogan said the Arab Spring that saw the collapse of autocratic regimes in Tunisia, Egypt and Libya was "a victory as well for Turkey" and added that he hoped to bolster ties with the three countries during his current tour.

#2  Its already an ethnic civil war.

Although its curious that Kurdish areas are quiet.

I suspect the government doesn't have the capacity to take on the Sunnis and Kurds at the same time.

Another autonomous Kurdish area would Turkey's worst nightmare.

Jumblat-Hizbullah Ties in Tatters over al-Rahi's Statements
Relations between Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Wally Jumblat
... Druze politician, head of the Progressive Socialist Party, who's been on every side in Leb at least four times. He'll sell you his friends for a dollar, but family comes higher because of shipping and handling...
and Hizbullah seem to be reaching an all-time low after the Shiite party's al-Manar TV station slammed the Druze leader for criticizing Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi.
That sounds like junior high girls playing drama queen games.
Al-Manar said in reference to Jumblat in its newscast on Monday that some officials remain steadfast in their stances while others tend to swing to adjust to the "regional winds."
Manar acts like it's surprised. That's been Wally's and the other warlords' modus operandi for decades.
The network compared the PSP chief to the Lebanese Forces
A Christian political party founded by Bashir Gemayel, who was then bumped off when he was elected president of Leb...
in its criticism of al-Rahi over his statements on the Syrian crisis and Hizbullah's weapons.

PSP sources told al-Akhbar daily published Tuesday that al-Manar's remarks were a clear "attack" from Hizbullah on Jumblat. They were surprised by such an "attack," saying the MP's stance from the resistance and his rejection to link Leb to any regional crisis hasn't changed in the past three years.

However,
there is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened...
a Hizbullah MP denied that al-Manar's criticism was a political message to Jumblat, telling al-Akhbar that the remarks were only part of the TV station's praise of al-Rahi's stance from Hizbullah.

Last week, al-Rahi said the fate of Hizbullah's arms is linked to the termination of Israeli occupation of Lebanese territory and the return of Paleostinian refugees to their homeland.

Al-Rahi also warned that the rise of the Moslem Brüderbund in Syria was a threat to Christians. He said Syrian President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
One of the last of the old-fashioned hereditary iron-fisted fascist dictators. Before going into the family business Pencilneck was an eye doctor...
should be given the chance to introduce reform.

But Jumblat noted on Monday that the latest "fear-inciting remarks on the rise of Salafist
...Salafists espouse an austere form of Sunni Islam that seeks a return to practices that were common in the 7th century. Rather than doing that themselves and letting other people alone they insist everybody do as they say and they try to kill everybody who doesn't...
or fundamentalist movements ... are being used as a scarecrow."

He also rejected to link "Leb's fate to the liberation of the Shebaa Farms and the entire conflicts in the region."

March 8 sources told al-Liwaa newspaper that Jumblat's stance reveals a rift between him and Damascus
...The City of Jasmin is the oldest continuously-inhabited city in the world. It has not always been inhabited by the same set of fascisti...
. They said Public Works Minister Ghazi Aridi, who is loyal to the PSP chief, has tried in vain for three consecutive times to set a date for a visit by Jumblat to the Syrian capital.

Northern Arizona U. officials confront students passing out flags
Northern Arizona University students who were passing out American flags Friday in remembrance of 9/11 got a bigger response than they expected.

No fewer than four university officials and a police officer descended on the group, accusing them of hindering foot traffic and lacking an advance permit.

University spokesman Tom Bauer said it had nothing to do with what they were saying and everything to do with keeping traffic moving.

"I don't think that this is a freedom of speech issue. We were not asking them to be quiet. We were not asking them to leave," he said. "We were asking them to move to a different location within the same area. This is basically clearing the walkways."

The NAU students were among students at more than 270 colleges and high schools participating in the "9/11: Never Forget Project," which is endorsed by the conservative Young America's Foundation. The University of Arizona also held an event, according to the YAF's website.

Freer videotaped the confrontation, which at various times showed university officials asking the students to go outside, get a permit, or move to the other end of the building where few other students were congregating.
Any AZ residents care to take this up with officials?

Yes, yes of course the traaaaffic. Groups of two or more students, congregating, sharing rememberance, partiotic notions, acknowledging sacrifice on a college campus.... could be dangerous. All knowledge belongs to us. Right Mr. Bauer?

Now. Get back inside rebels!
