Ground and air operation target Al-Shabaab base in central Somalia, senior army commander toes up
[ShabelleMedia] The government forces backed by local clan militia engaged in a heavy battle with al-Shabaab
... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
in the southern Mudug region, military sources and residents said.

An Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
was reported coincided with the ground operation targeted Jeeh village, where al-Shabaab fighters were re-grouping to launch an ambush attack on the government base.

The exact number of casualties remained unclear as the defense ministry and al-Shabaab did not release a statement regarding the raid and the subsequent suspected US airstrike.

The Ottoman Turkish-trained Gorgor, an elite military unit carried out the offensive with the help of the US military, which provided air support to SNA in the war against al-Shabaab murderous Moslems.

Senior Somali military commander killed in Al-Shabaab battle

[ShabelleMedia] A heavy battle in the south of Mudug left the commander of the 18th battalion, Major Abdi Mohammed Sulnuug dead along with other SNA soldiers.

The fighting came after the government forces and the local clan militia attacked a place where the al-Shabaab
... an Islamic infestation centering on Somalia attempting to metastasize into Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and similar places, all ofwhich have enough problems without them...
snuffies were gathering for planning an attack in Aad town.

The intense battle lasted for several hours, in which both sides used different types of weapons and caused various losses to both sides, according to the villagers.

The reports add that Commander Suulnug was initially injured, but later died of his injuries.

"We mourn the loss of Major Abdi Mohammed Sulnuuge, commander of the 18th GorGor battalion of the Somali National Army, who was martyred today in Mudug. Our heartfelt condolences to his family, the SNA, and all Somalis. May Allah grant him the highest level of Jannah," said the defense ministry.

Sulnuug has recently been at the front lines of the war, being part of the siege of the Adan Yabal district and other areas in the Middle Shabelle, Galgaduud, and Mudug regions.

In the areas of southern Mudug, in the last few weeks, the operations against the al-Shabaab have been going on intensively, and it is worth noting that the SNA took over many areas that were under the control of the group for a long time.

Sudan's army chief rejects negotiations with rival RSF
[AFRICANEWS] The Commander in Chief of the Sudan
...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans...
ese armed forces Gen Abdel Fattah al-Burhan said Friday (Jan. 05) he wouldn't accepte to negotiate with the Rapid Support Forces.

al-Burhan cited war crimes and crimes against humanity allegedly committed by the RSF of General Mohamad Hamdan Daglo.

Speaking to soldiers in the Red Sea state (eastern Sudan) the head of the Sudanese armed forces asserted that the RSF perpetrated crimes "in West Darfur and across Sudan".

He said they made any reconciliation or deal with the RSF unacceptable.

This comes as the warring generals agreed last month to a face-to-face meeting and to start talks over a possible cease-fire, according to the East African regional bloc IGAD.

RSF commander Hamdan Daglo spent the first months of the war in the shadows but was active on social media.

He embarked on an east Africa tour lately. On Friday (Jan. 05), he was in Kigali, Rwanda.

During his trips, he has claimed to being committed to cease hostilities in Sudan and cited "challenges arising from the reluctance of the opposing force and their intentional efforts to prolong this conflict."

9 months of war between Sudan top generals have brought destruction upon the nation and killed over 12,000 people.

The U.N. undersecretary-general for humanitarian affairs, said in a statement Thursday (Jan. 04) that nearly 25 million people across Sudan will need humanitarian assistance in 2024 "but the bleak reality is that intensifying hostilities are putting most of them beyond our reach."

US military says it shot down another Houthi-launched drone over Red Sea
[IsraelTimes] Central Command says destroyer USS Laboon intercepted drone from Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen as it approached ‘multiple commercial vessels’ in shipping route

US military forces shot down a drone early Saturday over the Red Sea in international waters near several commercial vessels, the Pentagon said.

The incident came days after a 12-nation group led by the US warned Iran's Houthi sock puppets

The US Central Command said in a social media post Saturday that "an unmanned aerial vehicle launched from Iranian-backed Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen was shot down in self-defense" by the USS Laboon, an Arleigh Burke-class destroyer.

It said no one was hurt.

The incident occurred in the southern Red Sea "in the vicinity of multiple commercial vessels," it said.

The rebels have launched more than 100 drone and missile strikes toward targets in the Red Sea and Israel since the war erupted, according to Pentagon figures.

The Houthi attacks are endangering a transit route that carries up to 12 percent of global trade, prompting the United States to set up a multinational naval task force to protect Red Sea shipping.

Pro-Palestinian Anti-Israel protesters block Westminster Bridge outside UK parliament
[IsraelTimes] Police prevent anti-Israel demonstrators from moving onto bridge amid reports of small scuffles, as parliament set to return from Christmas break

war and clashing with police who prevented them from marching across Westminster Bridge.

Videos posted on social media showed police blocking protesters’ access to the bridge and a Rooters news hound said there had been several small scuffles. Unable to fully access the bridge, where they had planned to unfurl banners, protesters instead occupied the surrounding roads.

Police said they had imposed a legal order limiting the location of the protests and that by 3 p.m. (1500 GMT) people had begun to disperse. Those who refused to comply with an order to leave could be arrested, police said.

, triggered by the shock October 7 attack by Hamas murderous Moslems who killed more than 1,200 people in southern Israel and kidnapped some 240.

Hamas health officials say 22,722 people have so far been killed in Gaza. The figure cannot be verified, doesn’t differentiate between civilians and combatants, and includes Paleostinians killed by errant rocket fire from within Gaza. Israel says it has killed 8,500 murderous Moslems since the start of the war.

Saturday’s action was smaller than previous mass marches but comes two days before the British parliament returns to work after its Christmas break. The protest was designed to push politicians to adopt a harder stance toward Israel.

So far, Britannia has stopped short of calling for an immediate ceasefire, with Foreign Secretary David Cameron

arguing that any such agreement could be unsustainable and may worsen violence without a plan for longer-term peace.

Most previous protests in London have been coordinated with police, but police said the organizers of Saturday’s protests had refused to share details of their plans.

Additional demonstrators on a nearby overpass cheered in support of the blockade, which began around 1:15 p.m., the Seattle Times reported. The state transportation department said on the social media platform X that traffic at one point was backed up more than 6 miles (9.7 kilometers), and the agency asked drivers to use alternate routes.

Demonstrators chanted "Free, free Paleostine" and "Hey hey, ho ho, the occupation has got to go."

Seattle police posted on social media at 3:40 p.m. that officers gave a dispersal order, though protesters disputed receiving any such orders. Stormy weather, including hail, moved through the area, and protesters left the freeway around 4:45 p.m., according to the Times.

Trooper Rick Johnson with the Washington State Patrol said via X that while people had abandoned the freeway, 12 vehicles were left behind. He said the roadway would reopen when they were towed.

Iraq
US says Iraqi police seized Iranian missile in Babil
[Rudaw] The United States army on Friday said that Iraqi police found "a land attack cruise missile of Iranian design" in Babil province two days prior. After a deadly US strike on an Iraqi militia, Baghdad authorities have denied coordinating with the Americans in the fight against militias accused of recent drone and rocket attacks.

"On Jan. 3, Iraqi police in Babylon discovered a land attack cruise missile of Iranian design that failed to launch. The use of Iranian supplied munitions by terrorist groups within Iraq and Syria endanger Coalition forces and local residents," US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a post on X.

"The Coalition is appreciative of the efforts of the legitimate security forces in Iraq for their efforts to prevent future attacks," it added.

Babil Police Command on Wednesday, sharing the same image as CENTCOM, said they "found a drone belonging to unknown people on the international highway, and it exploded on site by anti-explosives detachments without any significant incident."

American officials have recently underscored collaboration with Iraqi security forces to combat militia groups that have conducted scores of attacks on US troops in the country, but Baghdad is not happy about the US independently conducting retaliatory strikes.

"We do know that the Iraqi Security Forces have continued to assist in identifying in some cases where these Iranian proxies have conducted attacks against US forces and we're very appreciative of that support," Pentagon Press Secretary Air Force Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder said during a press briefing on Thursday.

The following day, Iraq’s Security Media Cell denied that any cooperation exists between Washington and Baghdad regarding the militias and accused the Pentagon spokesperson of "mixing the cards."

"We strongly deny the existence of such cooperation. On the contrary, yesterday's attack was carried out directly without the knowledge of any Iraqi military or security entity, as is the case with recent attacks that targeted security sites," read the statement.

On Thursday, the US carried out an Arclight airstrike

in Baghdad, targeting the Harakat al-Nujaba, which comprises the 12th brigade of the Popular Mobilization Forces’ (PMF, or Hashd al-Shaabi). The strike killed two people, including Mushtaq Talib al-Saeedi - a former commander of al-Nujaba and the deputy commander of the PMF’s Baghdad Belt Operations. Another six people were maimed in the strike, according to PMF media.

Iraqi militia groups are blamed for more than 100 attacks, mainly on US interests in Iraq and Syria, since mid-October, in response to Washington’s support for Israel in its war on Hamas

Turkish airstrikes target alleged PKK targets in Duhok, Sulaimani
[Rudaw] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund...
’s defense ministry on Saturday announced that its forces struck several alleged positions of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in the mountains of Sulaimani and Duhok provinces, and claimed it killed and injured many members of the group.

Ottoman Turkish air operations targeted suspected PKK positions in the Metina, Gara, Khakurk, Qandil, and Asos mountains, destroying 15 targets consisting of "caves, bunkers, shelters, and warehouses."

Many PKK fighters were "neutralized" in the attack, according to the statement. Turkey uses the term "neutralize" to denote adversaries captured, maimed, or killed.

The ministry added that the Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s were conducted in line with Ankara’s right to "self-defense," and claimed that precautions were taken to "prevent harm to innocent civilians."

PKK-affiliated media reported that Sulaimani province’s Mawat district and Erbil’s Balakayati area were also targeted in Turkey’s Saturday airstrikes. The report did not confirm if any PKK positions were hit, but said the extent of the damage is yet to be determined.

The attacks come amid an escalation of violence between Turkey and PKK after the gang killed 12 soldiers in the Kurdistan Region in late December, and Turkey conducted retaliatory strikes on the PKK and its alleged offshoots in Syria.

Ottoman Turkish forces often carry out aerial attacks in Sulaimani province, where Ankara accuses authorities of supporting the PKK.

In northern Duhok, Turkey sent its army back into the province in April of last year, launching Operation Claw-Lock with the goal of targeting PKK positions in Metina, Zap, Avashin, and Basyan areas. The operation, according to Ankara, aims to remove the PKK from the border area and cut off its access to Turkey.

3 months into war, IDF says it’s dismantled Hamas ‘military framework’ in north Gaza
[IsraelTimes] Army says it killed commanders of Hamas battalion that carried out Be’eri massacre; soldier killed in northern Gaza, taking military toll in ground operation to 176

Strip.

Spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari said at a presser that the military was now focused on dismantling Hamas in central and southern Gaza.

Saturday also saw the IDF and Shin Bet say that the commander of Hamas’s Nuseirat battalion in central Gaza, Ismail Siraj, and his deputy, Ahmed Wahaba, were killed in an Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
in the Strip. The battalion was responsible for the attacks on Kibbutz Be’eri on October 7 and the massacres that took place there and in other border communities.

The IDF also announced the death of an officer killed during fighting in the northern Gaza Strip over the weekend, bringing the toll of slain troops since the start of the ground offensive against Hamas to 176. He was named as Lt. Col. Roee Yohay Yosef Mordechay, 31, a commander at the Nahal Brigade’s training base, from Tel Aviv. Mordechay had been tapped to be the next commander of Nahal’s 50th Battalion before he was killed.

Another soldier of the Nahal Brigade’s 931st Battalion was seriously maimed in the same battle, the IDF said.

TERROR INFRASTRUCTURE DISMANTLED
At his presser, Hagari said that battles and sporadic rocket fire could still occur in northern Gaza, but the terror group’s infrastructure was out of action and could no longer carry out large-scale attacks.

He noted that towns in central Gaza were "dense and full of terrorists," while Khan Younis in the south has an "underground city of branching tunnels."

"There are no shortcuts when it comes to fighting terror," Hagari said. "We attacked, and will continue to attack, and continue to deepen the achievement in these areas, but it takes time," Hagari said.

"It will take time. The fighting will continue throughout 2024. We are working according to a plan to achieve the goals of the war: to dismantle Hamas in the center and south, and continue all efforts, intelligence and operational, and military pressure, to return the hostages," Hagari said.

He said at the same time the IDF was building new defenses along the Gaza border to allow residents displaced since October 7 to return to their homes.

Hagari also revealed a photo of Mohammed Deif, the commander of Hamas’s military wing. The photo was among some 70 million digital files recovered by the IDF in Gaza, he said.

Deif is seen in the photo holding a plastic cup in one hand and dollar bills in another, apparently confirming newly reported IDF intelligence findings that disproved the long-held belief that he is an amputee and nearly paralyzed.

In announcing the killing of Siraj and Wahaba in Nuseirat, the army and Shin Bet said Siraj previously served as a commander of a company in Hamas’s Nukhba commando force, and was also involved in manufacturing rockets. Wahaba, the deputy, was appointed to the role after the previous Nuseirat battalion deputy commander was killed by the IDF in the first weeks of the war.

Beyond the October 7 massacres, the IDF said the Nuseirat battalion had also been involved in firing anti-tank missiles and operating drones against troops operating in Gaza in recent months.

IDF CHIEF IN KHAN YOUNIS TUNNELS
Earlier Saturday, the military published footage of IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi and the head of the Shin Bet security agency Ronen Bar touring a Hamas tunnel network under southern Gaza’s Khan Younis the previous day. Halevi and Bar were joined by the head of the Southern Command, Maj. Gen. Yaron Finkelman; the head of the Military Intelligence Directorate, Maj. Gen. Aharon Haliva; and the commander of the 98th Division, Brig. Gen. Dan Goldfus.

The military believes Hamas’s leadership, including Yahya Sinwar, are hiding underground in the southern Gaza Strip.

The army also released new footage of the elite Egoz commando unit operating in southern Gaza, where it said troops raided the home of Hamas’s east Khan Younis battalion commander in the town of Bani Suheila and battled button men in a school.

The IDF said troops killed three button men during a battle in the school. On their bodies, it said, forces found RPGs and significant intelligence about Hamas’s Khan Younis brigade.

In a residence in the area, Egoz soldiers found a cache of weapons used by Hamas operatives, the IDF said.

Some of the weapons were found inside a bedroom, the IDF said, alongside a child’s puzzle of an inciteful image against Israel.

The army also said troops found military equipment belonging to Nukhba forces in a clinic in Gaza City, in the northern Gaza Strip, stashed inside bags marked with the logo of the UN Paleostinian refugee agency UNRWA. As one of the main organizations providing aid to the Gaza Strip, there have been previous reports of the aid agency’s packaging apparently being repurposed by the terror group.

The IDF said RPGs, Kalashnikov-type weapons and ammunition were found in a nearby building.

In addition, the military said strikes were carried out on a number of terror cells and destroyed a number of tunnel shafts in the Khan Younis area.

Furthermore, troops located a warehouse containing dozens of Kalashnikovs, over a hundred cartridges, remote-activated charges and a number of RPGs. Forces destroyed the warehouse.

Last week, it was reported Israel is hoping to push UNRWA out of the Gaza Strip after the war. The outlet cited a high-level and classified Foreign Ministry report that recommends a number of stages to the move, including a comprehensive report on alleged UNRWA cooperation between Hamas, which rules Gaza, and the UN body that provides welfare and humanitarian services in the Strip.

Hezbollah claims 40 rockets fired from Lebanon at northern Israel, IDF struck 2 military compounds, other targets, 2 more Hezbies toes up
Reported first thing Saturday morning:
[IsraelTimes] Some 40 rockets were fired from Leb
...an Iranian satrapy currently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
at the Mount Meron area of northern Israel, the IDF says.

Despite the widespread sirens, no drones or rockets were fired at any other areas of the north, it adds.

There are no reports of injuries in the rocket barrage.

Hezbollah claims responsibility for rocket barrage fired at northern Israel

[IsraelTimes] Hezbollah claims responsibility for the rocket barrage from Leb on Mount Meron in northern Israel earlier.

In a statement, the terror group claims it targeted an Israeli military installation in the area with 62 projectiles.

It says the attack is "an initial response" to the alleged Israeli killing of Hamas

official Saleh al-Arouri in Lebanon last week.

And then at noon:
IDF says fighter jets struck two ‘significant’ Hezbollah compounds in Lebanon

[IsraelTimes] The IDF says fighter jets carried out strikes on two "significant" military compounds belonging to Hezbollah in Leb, in response to the terror group’s attack on northern Israel today.

The sites, according to the IDF, housed infrastructure used by Hezbollah’s air defense unit

The IDF says fighter jets and other aircraft hit further Hezbollah sites in southern Lebanon’s Rab El Thalathine, Ramyah, Meiss el-Jabal and Ayta ash-Shab.

The targets include Hezbollah cells, rocket launch positions, a command center and other infrastructure used by the terror group, according to the IDF.

Several missiles were fired by Hezbollah in the last few hours at Yiftah and Avivim, with no reports of injuries.

The IDF says Hezbollah also fired a surface-to-air missile at an Israeli military drone over Lebanon, which did not hit.

Israeli strikes reported in Lebanese village 40 kilometers from border

[IsraelTimes] Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon hit the outskirts of Kouthariyeh al-Siyad village, about 40 kilometers (25 miles) from the border, Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency says, adding that there are casualties.

Such strikes deeper inside Lebanon have been rare since the border fighting started nearly three months ago.

NNA also says Israeli forces shelled border areas, including the town of Khiam. Israel’s army has no immediate comment.

Hezbollah announces 2 more of its fighters killed in fighting along border

[IsraelTimes] Hezbollah announces the deaths of two more fighters, bringing the number of operatives in the Lebanese terror group who have been killed in the ongoing cross-border skirmishes with Israel to 152.

Lebanon’s Jama’a Islamiya says it fired two volleys of rockets at Kiryat Shmona

Lebanon’s Sunni Islamist Jama’a Islamiya says it fired two volleys of rockets at Kiryat Shmona in northern Israel.
This is apparently the third attack they’ve claimed since Hamas erupted on 10/7. According to the internet are groups in Egypt and Indonesia with the same name, dedicated to bringing about the caliphate.
The attack comes after Lebanon’s Iran-backed Hezbollah terror group said earlier it had fired at least 62 rockets toward Israel on Saturday morning in an “initial response” to the alleged Israeli killing of Hamas terror chief Saleh al-Arouri in Beirut.

Philippine military: IS-linked militants kill 2 army intelligence operatives
[BenarNews] Filipino Islamic murderous Moslems ambushed and killed two army intelligence operatives who were gathering information in the southern Philippines against suspects linked to a deadly bombing in Marawi city last month, the military said Thursday.

The soldiers were among three staff sergeants seeking information about the Daulah Islamiyah-Maute Group in Munai, a remote town in Lanao del Norte province on Wednesday, said local infantry chief Maj. Gen. Gabriel Viray III.

The third soldier survived the attack.

"They conducted intel gathering, information gathering. While returning [to their base], they were ambushed," said Viray, referring to the 51st Infantry Battalion members.

The soldiers, who wore civilian clothes and rode two cycle of violences, were attacked by at least six members of the "terrorist group," Viray said.

"Two of them died while the other is safe," he told news hounds, adding their families had been notified.

Daulah Islamiyah means "Islamic State

" in the local language and has fighters from several Filipino murderous Moslem factions. One of those groups is the Maute Group, named after the Maute brothers who led and provided logistics support during a five-month siege of the southern city of Marawi by pro-Islamic State (IS) murderous Moslems in 2017.

WORSHIP SERVICE BOMBED
On Dec. 3, a Sunday, murderous Moslems bombed a Catholic Mass taking place at a university gymnasium in Marawi, killing four people and injuring 50 others.

IS grabbed credit for the attack, which came slightly more than six years after fighters from Southeast Asia and the Middle East were expelled from Marawi after failing in their bid to make the lake shore city their caliphate in the region. The Philippine military, backed by the U.S. and Australia, retook the city on Oct. 23, 2017, following five months of fighting that left 1,200 murderous Moslems, soldiers and civilians dead.

Military and regional police have been on heightened alert and have launched a large-scale manhunt for two leaders who are believed to be the criminal masterminds of the attack on the church service in December, military officials said.

In addition, troops killed one of five suspected IS fighters who attacked an infantry camp near the town of Maguing, also in Lanao. The pre-dawn attack on Dec. 28 was repulsed after a few minutes and the body of the unidentified dead murderous Moslem, along with an assault weapon and ammunition, were left behind, the military said.

Death toll in Iran’s Islamic State-claimed suicide bomb blasts rises to 91

The TV quotes Babak Yektaparast, a front man for the country’s emergency services, as saying an 8-year boy and a 67-year-old man who were maimed in the attack have now died.

Yektaparast adds that there are 102 people still being treated in hospitals, of whom 11 are at death's door.

In Wednesday’s attack, one jacket wallah detonated his explosives, then another attacked 20 minutes later as emergency workers and other people tried to help the maimed.

The attack took place in Kerman, about 820 kilometers (510 miles) southeast of the capital, Tehran. It targeted a commemoration for Guard Gen. Qassem Soleimani
