#23  Don't send tanks, send more javelin anti-tank missiles.

#22  John Mearsheimer doesn't "hate the U.S."
Posted by: Slineling Chusong5031   2022-03-26 20:43

#21  Yep -- if someone hates the US, the anonymous cowards have their lips firmly planted on their behinds.

#20  Slineling,

That Mearsheimer lecture at the University of Chicago is a classic. You'll enjoy this one too-- it's also starting to go viral (1.4 million views):
The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy: John J. Mearsheimer

#19  Retired General Barry McCaffery is a traitor and a genuinely calculatingly evil man, a traitor to America and Americans. Maybe even have convinced himself that what he is doing is correct—disregarding facts available to every American who reads current events about the Russian Z operation against the nazis supported by the USA and NATO on the doorsteps of his country.
He's a paid consultant for MSNBC and part of the army of grifters in the civil servants swamp. Hey is just shilling for MIC downplaying the Russian success, so he maybe can get a bone to chewy.
The reality is many countries have start to order Russian armaments after seeing how powerful and effective they are compared to the overpriced and all the string attached of the American ones. What kind of epic dirt do they have on 'this Barry' to go on record like this? America now is a broken country and will take years to repair and return to it's once great and respected standing in the world. If ever ….

#18  #16 It's a damn shame that Mearsheimer wasn't making America's foreign policy in the last decade. None of this mess would have happened. He's also one of the rational people in the US when it comes to the Israeli lobby.

Thank you for this. John Mearsheimer is the only American foreign policy expert who speaks sensibly about this conflict. Mearsheimer is very well regarded in India and China. He has no illusions about "human rights" and "spreading democracy." A clear-eyed realist who accepts and understands national pride.

#16  LOL McGovern is a bit of a kook, sure. But John Mearsheimer is brilliant. It's a damn shame that Mearsheimer wasn't making America's foreign policy in the last decade. None of this mess would have happened. He's also one of the rational people in the US when it comes to the Israeli lobby.

This Mearsheimer video has gone viral. 23 million views and 237k likes. Amazing, everyone in the US government should see it

#15  Utterly unsurprising that the anonymous cowards gush over McGovern. Same funding source, I'd bet.

#14  #12 The only nat-sec'y figure in Washington with any credibility is Ray McGovern

Thanks! That's an awesome discussion. 1 million views, wow. That subtitled clip of Putin explaining Russia's opposition to Tomahawk missiles is fascinating. Really valuable context.

Personally I found John Mearsheimer's analysis to be the clearest and most convincing of any I've heard. Amazing how he makes sense of everything that's happened. He's also totally realistic about what's likely to happen.

#13  Wikipedia:

Ray McGovern's post-retirement work includes commenting for Consortium News, RT, and Sputnik News, among other outlets, on intelligence and foreign policy issues. In 2003 he co-founded Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS).

Friend of “Short Eyes” Scott Ritter, whom he brought into VIPS.

I don't he's credible at all.

#8  sending S300's (I didn't know we had any)

Former Soviet block nations still have them. Romania and Hungary both do and I think Slovakia does as well. It make sense to send these instead of other systems as the Ukrainians know how to use them.

Sending tanks may be needed after the mud dries up, but I would rather just send them a shit load more anti-tank missiles and artillery. With the Russians digging in they make great targets.

#7  McCaffrey was lying then, he's lying now. His credibility is for shit.

#6  /\ Good point. Perhaps he has recovered.

#5  Is McCaffrey a credible source? He was a leading voice in the 'Trump is a Russian asset' narrative.
Posted by: Glenmore   2022-03-26 10:45

#4  THEN he started in on sending S300's (I didn't know we had any) and having the US send in M1 tanks. That strikes me as irrational. It takes a lot of training time to get a tank crew up to speed. Is he implying that US personnel should man those Abrams? God, I hope not. Is he a Biden regime mouthpiece? Kinda sounds it to me.

...There are a LOT of nations that use S-300s who would happily trade it for a US or UK system, and those are the people we're talking to about transferring them. That's at least doable.

The M1s...no. Just. No. Even the smartest and most motivated trainees - and the Ukranians qualify on both counts - would take months to be able to competently handle an M1. Now if we're talking about giving them M1s after this settles down, that's something else entirely.

#3  Send them some M1-A1 tanks, General? How would that work?
Posted by: Bobby   2022-03-26 09:24

#2  Agree on credible and informative. Most of the General's comments ranged from rational to rational-ish.
