Pelosi: Confederate symbols ‘have to go’ from Capitol, bases

said Thursday that it’s time to remove symbols honoring Confederate figures from the U.S. Capitol building and military bases as the pandemic and racial unrest force a national reckoning with racial discrimination.
They keep complaining that Washington and Jefferson were slave holders. Next step will be for their monuments to go. The capital will be renamed too. I suggest "Marcus Garvey, D.C.," but they probably hold out for Obama.
"These names have to go from these bases and these statues have to go from the Capitol," Pelosi said at her weekly news conference. "The American people know these names have to go."

Confederate monuments have reemerged as a national flashpoint since the death of George Floyd, a black man who died after a white Minneapolis officer pressed his knee into his neck for several minutes. Protesters decrying racism have targeted Confederate monuments in multiple cities, and some state officials are considering taking them down.

doubled down Thursday on his vow to not rename military bases honoring Confederate generals, even as NASCAR announced it would ban displays of the Confederate flag at its races.

"Seriously failed presidential candidate, Senator Elizabeth ’Pocahontas’ Warren, just introduced an Amendment on the renaming of many of our legendary Military Bases from which we trained to WIN two World Wars. Hopefully our great Republican Senators won’t fall for this!" Trump said in a Twitter blast.

#7 Pelosi has become a repressive symbol of a tyrranical, seditious House of Represenatives. Shouldn't this symbol be removed?

There are many other symbols of the left. Shouldn't these also be removed because they are offensive? Just saying, this entire cancel movement (history deniers) is stupid as well as ignorant.

#4 Fort Benning goes to Fort Schwarzkopf, he served Airborne, was a Master Parachutist, also taught leadership. Fort Lee to Fort Von Steuben giove that its Doctrine Development etc that's done there. Fort Gordon to Fort Matthew Ridgeway. Fort Polk to Fort Pershing.

Lots of good alternatives.

Now lets see what we can do to get Robert KKK Byrd's name off of half the buildings in West Virginia.

#3 I can see renaming the bases, most got their name by accident of history anyway.

If they have to do it, rename Fort Bragg, named for a mediocre Confed general, to Fort Lee - the Father of the Airborne. Fort Rucker to Fort Billy Mitchell, Army Aviation's father. And Fort Hood, Home of America's Hammer? Fort George S Patton of course. And we have to have a Fort Schwarzkopf someplace. And a Fort von Steuben.

And who could say no to Fort Lewis "Chesty" Puller?
