SW Governor urges fleeing population to ignore security threats
[JOURNALDUCAMEROUN] Betcha that's not the neighborhood he lives in.
[JOURNALDUCAMEROUN] The Governor of the South West Region Bernard Okalia Bilai has reassured the fleeing population of their safety amidst growing security concerns in the region.

There has been a mass exodus of the population from the South West Region to safer cities like Douala and Yaounde in the past week as a result of threats from separatist fighters to disrupt the Presidential election scheduled for October 7.

The situation has prompted the Governor of the region to step in and allay fears of insecurity while calling on the local population to go about their businesses without fear.

Bernard Okalia Bilai was at the Mile 17 motor park on Saturday where he met with leaders of transporters’ syndicates where he called on them to sensitise the local population not to give in to rumours of an imminent military crackdown on the local population in search of suspected separatists.

He also stressed that there is no restriction of movement out of the region as earlier reported by various sources but called on the population to stay back promising adequate measures to guarantee their safety.

Arabia
‘Hodeidah liberation key to reengaging Houthis in peace talks’
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The UAE told the UN Security Council on Friday that the liberation of Yemen’s key port city of Hodeidah from the Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
militia was critical to reengaging them in UN-backed peace talks.

Lana Nusseibeh, the UAE’s Permanent Representative to the UN sent a letter to the Security Council President addressing the Houthi delegation’s no-show at the peace talks in Geneva last week.

"The Houthis’ ’no-show’ rebuke to the United Nations
...the Oyster Bay money pit...
and to a meaningful political process is a serious setback and a significant disappointment for the Yemeni people and the Coalition, who are eager to find an end to the conflict," Nusseibeh said in the letter seen by Al Arabiya English.

"Unfortunately, this is only the latest Houthi broken promise to re-engage in a political process since they derailed the political transition process in 2014, turned to force, and triggered the humanitarian and political crisis Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
faces today.

She added: "While military action should be the last resort in the Coalition’s view, the liberation of Hodeida is critical to reengaging the Houthis in peace talks. To that end, carefully calibrated and with a clear purpose toward restarting the political process, Yemeni Government forces backed by the Coalition have now intensified military operations against the Houthis in the Hodeida area and on other fronts."

Hate preacher Anjem Choudary to be freed from jail despite remaining 'genuinely dangerous'
Yes, this piece of shit will be in the news again, smiling at terror. Britain deserves what they encourage
[Telegraph] Anjem Choudary, the notorious Islamist hate preacher, will be released from jail next month despite a chilling warning from the justice minister that he remained "genuinely dangerous".

Choudary, 51, is due to be freed within weeks after serving half of a five-and-a-half-year prison sentence for encouraging Muslims to join Islamic State.

The Government admitted on Tuesday it was powerless to prevent Choudary from being released on licence. Rory Stewart, the prisons minister, said that the preacher was "a deeply pernicious, destabilising influence".

Mr Stewart, in an interview, added: "He is... somebody who is a genuinely dangerous person. We will be watching him very carefully."

Choudary was leader of the proscribed terrorist group al-Muhajiroun, whose followers included Khuram Butt, part of the London Bridge terror cell who murdered eight innocent bystanders in June last year.

Other disciples include Michael Adebolajo and Michael Adebowale, the killers of Fusilier Lee Rigby, murdered outside his barracks in south London in 2013.

Europe
Palestinian activist: EU should defund BDS like Trump slashed aid for UNRWA
[IsraelTimes] Bassem Eid claims boycott campaigns ’would cease to exist within 6 months’ if funding drastically cut; EU maintains it does not support BDS efforts.

A Paleostinian human rights
...which are usually open to widely divergent definitions...
activist lashed out at the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
for allegedly supporting programs that boycott Israel, saying it comes at the expense of Paleostinian dignity and prosperity.

Addressing a panel at the EU Parliament in Brussels, Jerusalem-based Bassem Eid told politicians that Israeli-Paleostinian economic cooperation was the only way to reach peace.

"The majority of the Paleostinians these days are people who are seeking dignity rather than identity. This is one of the most important issues, and dignity can be achieved only via economic prosperity," he said in a video posted with English subtitles this week by MEMRI, the Middle East Media Research Institute.

Eid, who posted the original footage of his remarks on his own website earlier this month, went on to say the global BDS movement was "us[ing] Paleostinians in order to gain power and money.

"BDS will never ever want to achieve any kind of peace between the Israelis and the Paleostinians," he said. "The BDS wants to destroy Israel, and, as a Paleostinian, I don’t have time for that."

He urged the EU to cut funding to BDS-supporting programs, saying that "if Europe
...also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
tomorrow will cut the funding on the BDS, like Trump cut the funding on UNRWA, no BDS will exist in the coming six months."

Eid also leveled criticism against the Paleostinian Authority, telling EU politicians that tens of Paleostinian businessmen wanted to attend the panel on economic initiatives at the EU parliament, but that PA had prevented them from participating.

BDS, the global movement calling for boycotts, divestment, and sanctions against Israel, seeks to isolate the Jewish state over its policies vis-a-vis the Paleostinians.

Earlier this year, the Ministry of Strategic Affairs published a report claiming the EU gave millions of dollars in donations to nonprofit groups that campaign for boycotts of Israel or have ties to terror groups.

EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini blasted Strategic Affairs Minister Gilad Erdan and his ministry for the report, which she said was spreading spread disinformation.

"We are confident that EU funding has not been used to support boycott of Israel or BDS activities and certainly not to finance terrorism," she said in a letter to Erdan at the time.

Mogherini stressed that the EU "rejects any attempts to isolate Israel and does not support calls for boycott. The EU does not fund actions that are related to boycott activities."

Though the EU officially opposes any boycott of Israel, it has recommended that its member states put special labels on exports from Israeli settlements in the West Bank. It has stopped short of banning settlement products, but they do not receive the same tax exemptions that products made in Israel receive.

In the years since its formation, the BDS movement has seen limited success among progressive audiences, persuading several church organizations to divest themselves of Israel-related investments and garnering support on US college campuses. Recently, pop singer Lana Del Ray joined a number of other artists who canceled performances in Israel amid pressure from BDS activists.

"The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation in association with the Russian General Prosecutor’s Office, the Interpol National Central Bureau (NCB) at the Russian Interior Ministry and the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service have extradited a Russian citizen Ali Abdul-Mutalipovich Gekhayev, born in 1988, who is on the international wanted list, from Belgium. In May 2017, based on the finding of the Russian side the accused was detained in Brussels and placed under pre-extradition arrest, the Center for Public Relations said.

"As a result of coordinated efforts of Russian law enforcement bodies the supplied evidence of criminal activity of the wanted person allowed the Belgian authorities to comply with the extradition request," the CPR added.

On September 14, Gekhayev was extradited to Russia. Further investigative activities and search measures are being carried out.

Italy blames France for Gaddafi’s downfall and migrant crisis
IN WHICH Russia tries to stir up trouble between equally culpable allies via the Sputnik news service, happily broadcast by Iran proxy, Al Masdar.
[AlMasdar] In Rome, the responsibility for the influx of migrants colonists is laid on La Belle France, which persuaded NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A collection of multinational and multilingual and multicultural armed forces, all of differing capabilities, working toward a common goal by pulling in different directions...
countries to get rid of Qadaffy. As a result, Libya is now torn apart by rival factions and an ongoing conflict between its two governments.

"It is clearly now undeniable that this country (Libya) finds itself in this situation because someone, in 2011, put their own interests ahead of those of the Libyan people and of Europe
...also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
itself," Italian Defense Minister Elisabetta Trenta wrote on Facebook. "La Belle France, from this point of view, is partly to blame," she added.

Italian parliamentary speaker Roberto Fico was even more explicit, pointing to "a serious problem that has come from La Belle France."

Italia’s Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini also chimed in, blaming former French President Nicolas Sarkozy
...23rd President of the French Republic. Sarkozy is married to singer-songwriter Carla Bruni, who has a really nice birthday suit...
for unleashing the war in Libya and the present government for adding fuel to the flames of the Libyan conflict.

Italians are filled with nostalgia each time they recall the time when Rome and Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
signed an agreement to allow Italian companies to extract oil in Libya.

The Qadaffy government was holding back the flow of migrants colonists to Europe and the country’s GDP was the second biggest in Africa and the first among the Arabic-speaking states of the Maghreb.

In Rome, the emphasis is that the decision to overthrow Qadaffy was made without taking into account the views of Italia.

That is actually quite accurate. I've heard it was a sewer pipe, not a Chevy, but it doesn't matter. His last reported words:

New Mexico Jihadist Update: Rift Between Police, Feds Allowed New Mexico Terror Compound To Fester
[The Federalist] Questions keep coming about how the U.S. justice system responded to a New Mexico compound that housed five alleged would-be jihadists and 11 reportedly malnourished children along with the remains of a twelfth child who died on the compound.

A federal grand jury recently indicted the five alleged jihadists on weapons and conspiracy charges, alleging the group created their compound in the desert outside Taos, New Mexico as a training camp and firing range to facilitate a "Common plan to prepare for violent attacks government, military, educational and financial institutions" and sought to "engage in jihad and form an army of jihad" according to the federal indictment published by the Department of Justice on September 11.

The five suspects‐Siraj Ibn Wahhaj, Lucas Morten, Subhanah Wahhaj, Hujrah Wahhaj, and Jany Leveille‐had previously faced state charges of child abuse, but the charges floundered in court after a New Mexico judge dismissed charges against all five suspects when state prosecutors missed a 10-day deadline for a preliminary hearing. Prosecutors argued extenuating circumstances but were rebuffed.
Sadly, more follows.

Iraq
Iraqi parliament elects new speaker, breaking political deadlock
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Iraq's parliament elected Sunni politician Mohammed al-Halbousi as speaker on Saturday, marking the first step towards establishing the new government four months after an inconclusive national election.

Parliament was due to elect a speaker and two deputies during its first meeting on Sept 3, but failed to do so as politicians were still trying to determine which competing bloc had the most seats.

Some delegates from Iraq's Sairoon Alliance, led by Shiite leader Moqtada Tater al-Sadr
... the once and future Iranian catspaw holy man who was 22 years old in 2003 and was nearing 40 in 2010. He spends most of his time in Iran, safely out of the line of fire, where he's learning to be an ayatollah...
, and the Kurdistan Democratic Party had withdrawn from the session, according to an Al Arabiya News Channel correspondent.

Halbousi, 37, was elected Governor of Anbar in August 2017 by the provincial council, a position he relinquished when he was sworn in as an Iraqi MP on September 3.

The key parliamentary meeting could allow Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi’s political rivals to form a government without him.

On Thursday, Abadi announced a new series of public works initiatives for the southern city of Basra, hit by a wave of deadly protests last week.

Abadi made the statement following a cabinet meeting, delayed by two days as he visited Basra where violent demonstrations last week saw 12 protesters killed and government buildings torched.

Basra has been at the epicenter of protests that broke out in July in the southern province before spreading to other parts of the country, as demonstrators railed against poor services and condemned corruption among Iraqi officials.

Anger in Basra flared early last week over a growing health crisis, after more than 30,000 people were hospitalized by pollution in the city’s water supply.

On Thursday, Abadi said a team of advisers would "assure the immediate implementation" of new water pumping, routing and filtration projects -- but did not provide a budget or a timetable.

American professor detained by Israel in West Bank scuffle
[Ynet] Go ahead and give em the Full Corrie™ An American law professor was detained Friday by Israeli police for allegedly trying to block Israeli troops from dismantling shacks built by Palestinian protesters near Khan al-Ahmar, a Bedouin encampment in the West Bank.

Frank Romano, 66, is being held at a lockup in Jerusalem and is to appear before a military court Monday, said attorney Gaby Lasky who is pushing for a hearing sooner.

Romano, who reportedly also has a French citizenship, was detained in the embattled village of Khan al-Ahmar, along with two Palestinian activists. Romano was found standing in front of heavy equipment being used to clear barriers that had been set up to slow demolition, witnesses said.

Khan al-Ahmar is located beside an Israeli highway that runs through the West Bank from Jerusalem to the Dead Sea. Israeli police said three people were detained for causing disturbances.

Belgium ends funding for Palestinian schools over honoring of terrorist
Another click of the ratchet...
[IsraelTimes] Belgium has broken its relations with the Paleostinian Authority’s education ministry over its honoring of Lions of Islam and will no longer fund the construction of its schools, a government spokesperson said.

The Belgian Education Ministry announced the move ‐ the first of its kind by any European country ‐ this week, the Joods Actueel Jewish newspaper reported Friday.

"As long as school names are used to glorify terrorism, Belgium can no longer cooperate with the Paleostinian Education Ministry and will not give out budgets for the construction of schools," a statement from the ministry said.

Last year, Belgium froze $3.8 million in funding for the construction of two Paleostinian schools after a West Bank school that it helped fund was renamed for a terrorist who killed Jewish civilians. Numerous appeals by the Belgian government to have the school renamed have gone unheeded, leading to the end of cooperation, the statement said.

Sometime after 2013, a school built in Hebron with Belgian money was renamed for Dalal Mughrabi, a Paleostinian terrorist who was part of a 1978 attack that killed 38 civilians, including 13 children. The school was inaugurated as the Beit Awwa Elementary School for Girls in 2013.

#1  TW, it's interesting that the Belgian Education Ministry takes a strong point in opposing the naming of schools that glorify terrorism. Somewhat rare for Europe.

Somebody needs to do basic research regarding how each of the European countries fall in line with the leftist/BDS narratives regarding socialism, immigration and anti-Israeli polemics help the societies in these countries.

Say a big spreadsheet.

I hope someone has got data on this, otherwise I'll try to get on it in several weeks.

I was shocked to see it, Fairbanks, though a number of EU countries paused funding on Palestinian projects in the last year when Israel presented irrefutable evidence of terrorism support — the articles were posted here, but I’m afraid I can’t recall the search terms, sorry.

Hundreds bury boy killed in Gaza clash as conflicting reports surround his death
[IsraelTimes] Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", says 12-year-old was rubbed out by IDF troops; friend says he was hit by tear gas canister; AP reports army has evidence showing he was struck by rock thrown by protester

Hundreds of Paleostinians attended the funeral Saturday of a 12-year-old boy killed on the Gazoo border, as conflicting reports emerged about the circumstances of his death.

Israel’s military said its evidence shows the 12-year-old was hit by a rock thrown by protesters, and Gazoo rights groups reported he died after being struck "with a solid object," the AP reported.

The Hamas-run Gazoo Health Ministry, by contrast, claimed Shady Abdel-al was killed by Israeli fire east of Jabalia in the northern part of the Strip. A front man said Saturday he died from head wounds, without elaborating.

Mohammed, a 12 year-old friend also from Jabalia refugee camp, said he was with Abdel Aal when he was hit.

"We were throwing stones at the fence," he told AFP.

The friend said Shady had been hit by a tear gas canister fired by Israeli soldiers and collapsed instantly.

Hundreds of family members and friends attended the boy’s funeral Saturday, with some calling for Dire Revenge.

"God burn those that burned my heart and killed my son," said his mother Umm Shadi, who has eight other children.

"What is my son guilty of? He is 12 years old," she added through tears.

She said her son had been going to the protests in recent months but she had been opposed. "I banned him but he was going behind our backs," said the grieving mother.

The ministry initially said he was 14 and a medical source had named him as Mustafa Abed Rabbo.

"He used to go every Friday to the marches like thousands of other people. This Friday was his destiny to die as a martyr," the boy’s father, Abdel-Aziz Abdel-al, told Rooters.

Protester Hashem Hassan told Rooters he witnessed the boy being shot: "He threw a few stones, which flew just a few yards. He posed no threat."

Hasakah: YPG release official statement about recent clashes between gov’t, Kurdish forces
[AlMasdar] The spokesperson for the Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units (YPG), Nuri Mahmud, released an official statement on Friday that discussed the recent festivities between the pro-government National Defense Forces (NDF) and Asayish (Kurdish police).

"On September 8th, an unfortunate clash broke out between the Asayish and the regime forces in the city of Qamishlo, leading to a number of dead and injured on both sides. Also, it created an atmosphere of tension and stress in the city of Qamishlo," Mahmud began.

"As a General Command of the People’s Protection Units, we extend condolences to the families of the victims and express our deep sorrow over what happened. In that same time, we confirm that as YPG, we also have opened an investigation concerning incident," he continued.

"The results of the investigation will be revealed as soon as it will be completed. We call both sides to calm down and take the general interest as a starting point in the search for solutions," the YPG spokesperson added.

The festivities that took place on September 8th resulted in the death of at least 11 Syrian military personnel and 7 Kurdish fighters.

Kurds, Christians Split over Syria School Curriculum
[AnNahar] Kurdish authorities in Syria's diverse northeast are facing swelling anger from the area's Syriac Christians after shutting down more than a dozen schools run by the ancient minority.

At the heart of the dispute is a debate over whether to use the new school curriculum championed by the Kurdish-led autonomous administration or stick to the accredited system used by Damascus.

The schism reflects the broader fissures in the northeast between those supporting formal state institutions and those defending parallel bodies developed by the Kurds.
