Nigerien forces reportedly free hostages after Boko Haram attack in Diffa region
[APANEWS.NET] Nigerien defense and security forces swiftly responded to an attack perpetrated by suspected Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
elements in Kablewa, located in the Diffa region, during the night of April 20-21.

According to Nigerien national television, their rapid intervention successfully contained the attack and led to the liberation of several hostages. The governor of the Diffa region has commended the effectiveness of the troops.

Reports indicate that Boko Haram hard boyz raided the town of Kablewa, situated in the NGuigmi district, between Sunday night and Monday morning, kidnapping eight civilians before being pursued by Nigerien defense and security forces. The ensuing response operation resulted in the safe release of all the hostages, the neutralization of the attacking turbans, and the recovery of their weapons, as reported by Nigerien national television.

The governor of the Diffa region, General Mahamadou Ibrahim Bagadoma, visited the scene of the attack accompanied by high-ranking security officials. During his visit, he lauded the prompt and effective response of the Nigerien troops. He also conveyed the congratulations and appreciation of the President of the Republic, General Abdourahamane Tiani, Prime Minister Ali Mahaman Lamine Zeine, and the Ministers of State for National Defense and the Interior.

Addressing the troops, Governor Bagadoma stated, ''The cohesion that exists between you is the source of your success, and I want this cohesion to be maintained and strengthened.'' He further emphasized the crucial role of collaboration between the local population and the defense forces, highlighting that the early warning provided by the residents of Kablewa was instrumental in the successful outcome of the operation.

This security operation is part of the broader ''Nalewa Dole'' offensive, which translates to ''unconditional peace'' in the Kanuri language. This offensive was launched at the initiative of the transitional authorities in Niger following the country's withdrawal from the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) amidst recent diplomatic tensions with neighboring Nigeria. This disengagement had created a security gap in regional cooperation efforts against hard boys.
