18 Civilians Killed in Two Weeks of Fighting in Herat

, health officials said on Friday.
Most of the maimed are under treatment at a provincial hospital in the city of Herat. Some of the maimed said they lost members of their families in the fighting and their homes were either damaged or destroyed.
Of those maimed, 31 are children and 24 are women, said Mohammad Arif Jailani, head of Herat public hospital.
"Recently, most victims were maimed due to mortar attacks," Jailani said.
The city of Herat fell to the Taliban on Friday.
